now since the eb13 froyo is out but has know issues are we to revert back to dk28? and are devs converting rom to fit the update eb13 or going back to making roms using the dk28? kinda need to know if i should go back to dk28?
Eb13 works for me with no issues.
Remember we have eb13 source so the devs can fix any problems that are there. Its harder to do with dk28

Ok, so I have a MAJOR problem. Before the eb13 froyo update came out, I tried to get dk28 on my phone. As of current, my baseband is dk28 but my build is di18. I got my wifes epic to the eb13 from the manual update cause I didn't screw with her phone. But because my baseband is still dk28, I'm guessing atleast, I can't run the manual update to eb13 to complete. I don't remember what I did or I could just retrace my steps and go back to di18 for my epic. Could someone help me get back to di18 for my epic, the easiest way please, I'm kinda an idiot. Id really like to get the official froyo on my phone. Thank you in advance!

Don't bother Odining to DI18, just use the EB13 odin and you will start fresh with the Froyo build

be careful from odining the new modem alone and make sure you have a nandroid backup, i ran into system uid is unstable and got unlimited force closes, then nandroid restored then i had the new modem.
I am running eb13 with genocide kernal how do I get to the new ec05 and should I? Also is there a way to get the new sprint ID on eb13?

If you want the EC05 update you will need to Odin back to DI18 and it should begin to download from there OTA. You can also use Odin to push EC05 to your phone. But in order to do this you will need to Odin back to DI18 first then odin again to EC05. I haven't seen Sprint ID available for EB13. I went ahead and went back to DI18 and then Odined to EC05 just to check it out and Sprint ID was on there but i wasn't really impressed. It had a few kind of cool features, but that is just my opinion.
Hope that helps.

I'm still on EB13 too. Not because I can't go to EC05, but I'm waiting for the ACS ROM for EC05. I want EXT4 and in order to do that, you have to flash directly to a ROM after it formats EXT4 and CWM3. Once their ROM is available, I'll be making the switch. Until then, no reason to go anywhere IMHO.
When using Odin to go from EF02 back to stock EC05, I was just wondering if there was a specific file I should download that includes a pit file? Or do I just use the regular .tar? Particularly wondering since you're supposed to use a pit when going to EF02.
I'm asking before I try making the switch, trying to make sure I have no problems.
I've never used a pit file with any of the tars I think you'll be OK without a pit file

I never use a pit file when changing modems either. It has never caused me any problems when I change modems.

After I went from the EF02 stock rom to EC05 stock rom the phone booted up fine. I rooted and went to install a fresh SRF 1.2 before restoring, but that actually made the phone lock up on boot...
Went into recovery, restored my backup and the phone booted up fine...
On a side note, coming back from stock ef02 to stock ec05 and then upgrading to EF10 modem via the ota update got rid of my update loop (ef02 to ef10 to ef02, etc).
The EF10 is giving me a somewhat steady 1.3mbps too, which I don't remember it doing when I first tested it out...
Thanks for the responses.
Also, after messing around with ef02 and the AA i3 rom a bit, I was really pleased with the speed of the os itself, my network data speeds were ridiculous, but it was chugging battery. Is that normal? No real battery optimization for EF02 yet or would I just need to undervolt/do something else? Maybe use a different kernel?
Right now, I have a rooted Epic with DK28 on it. I want to upgrade to either EC05 or maybe a gingerbread ROM. I've read through this site, watched videos posted by qbking77 and I think I have confused myself...
I think I can Odin from DK28 to EC05 but that will wipe all the data off my phone and I will need to reroot it? Then, if I root it again, I can restore stuff using Titanium Backup?
I have read stuff about going back to DI18, and then upgrading to EC05. Is there an advantage to this method?
And as far as I can tell, I can not go directly from DK28 to a gingerbread ROM?
There is no advantage to going to DI18 then upgrading to EC05.
The best method for you would be to use titanium backup to backup all your apps and settings, using ODIN to install a prerooted copy of EC05 then using titanium backup to re-install all your apps and data.
You can go straight from DK28 to a Gingerbread rom as long as you flash the modem in ODIN but I would recommend holding out for an official release if you like to have themes and custom kernels.
Thanks.
I need to root EC05 to be able to use Titanium Backup to reinstall everything, correct?
I can't read today. Where do I find a prerooted copy of EC05?
I believe this one is it
http://k0nane.info/rom/SPH-D700-EC05-8gb-REL.tar
If not it is pretty easy to just re-root it.
Thanks
Once I have EC05, I can install custom ROMs, right?
You didn't need EC05 to flash custom roms, just the EC05 modem and a compatible clockworkmod (since you were still on DK28 I'm assuming you're on an outdated version of clockwork too).
You could always Odin in the EF02 leak and have Gingerbread in one step. Then root and restore your data from Titanium.
Here is the thread for a prerooted EF02 leak ROM:

Prolly. I really have no idea. After spending some time messing around when I got DK28 and thinking I nearly broke my phone, I decided to just leave it alone for awhile. But now I am bored and want to mess with things again

This is me a month ago All I have to say is thanks to qbking77 I was able to properly upgrade my phone to EC05 and flash SyndicateROM 1.2. I believe he has a video for each of the steps you need to take (odin to ec05, root, flash, install/update cwm then flash desired rom and, if needed, kernel). I followed his tutorials exactly and have a faster, more responsive phone and aquired it with little risk. Big thx to XDA for the info, ACS for the ROM and qbking77 for helping a noob out ^ -^

So after a few days on GB I decided to roll back to Froyo. It seemed more responsive to me. I have two questions in relation to that:
1. Should I roll my modem back to EC05? My things that claimed to be EC05 specific seem to still be working.
2. If I stay on EI22 modem, can I use EI22 mods and themes? Or are they also tied to GB?
Thank you for any information!
You could roll it back, but I would test it out and see how out handles. If it works then let us know, if not, let us know, then flash back to EC05

So the modem itself is COMPLETELY independent from the ROM. You could technically still be on the DK28 modem and be running Gingerbread. All available modems are listed here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1123103 Most have found either EC05 or EH17 modem to be the best. I am running EI22 and have not seen much difference one way or the other, but its all based on your phone and the surrounding towers, but in general, Sprint service is horrible, so it doesn't really matter!
Well, I got some interesting results now.
Running EI22, SRF 1.2 ROM with Genocide kernel. Tried applying a theme from EI22, went into a boot loop. Tried a theme from EC05, still in a boot loop.
Reapplied the SRF, Genocide, and the EC05 theme, it works.
This leads me to believe that the EI22 theme, even when overwritten, left something icky behind.

you can't run an EI22 theme with an EC05 ROM. When using a theme, it is dependent on the ROM base, not the modem. So if you are on SRF 1.2, you can only use an EC05 theme.

Aww. Kinda makes sense, though I was misled by the modem numbers in theme names.
Thank you so much!
