Hiya,
I need to unroot my phone for warranty reasons. I have restored my phone from CM7 to the stock ROM using Clockwork. How do I remove root access and put my sim lock on?

Hi,
I have looked through all the information about rooting and then using the 2.2 RUU file to update to the generic 2.2 ROM. I just have a couple of question:
Can I still do this even though my phone is locked to Orange still? Or do I need to get an unlock code first? Does this also affect upgrading the radio?
When I create the Gold Card do I need to keep it - i.e do I need to buy another SD card make it a Gold Card and then keep it somewhere safe?
Finally, what is the best way of backing up the phone first.
Thanks
Best to make the gold card your usual card to save switching between them both as you'll need it for ALL future updates after debranding
Thanks, I have created the Gold Card now.
What about the phone being locked to Orange network? Can I still root without the phone then requiring an unlock code? Do I even need to root if I just want to install the stock 2.2 ROM from HTC?
You don't need to root to install a stock ROM, just the gold card and the RUU file
Hi, I rooted using unrevoked on a mac, and installed a rooted official 2.2 rom and i was wondering what would be the easiest way to be able to have my phone alright to send in to htc if i had a problem. i just want this for ease of heart. i dont want to have to make a gold card, is there an easy way to make the phone not appear rooted to the htc people

you could simply install a branded RUU at the end, without using your gold card,
worked fine on my desire, when i had to return it to t-mobile for warranty issues
I am basically thinking of rooting my phone using unrevoked then installing stock 2.2 without all the crap apps that take my phone storage instead of the branded 2.2 I have now. Is it possible??
Hi
Is there any RUU with TMobile Austria branding?
I searched the web but can't find anything for the DHD.
Or is there a other way to recover the TMO_AT branding, like flashing the stock rom, change the cid to TMO_ATand hope for OTA? Will this recover the apps from tmobile?
The reason of my question is,that i want to root my phone and its only possible with a downgrade cause i have 1.75 installed. And i didn't read about a way to save the rom before downgrade. Is there one? Want have the possibility to go back.
Hope you can help me.
As soon as you rooted and installed custom recovery, make a backup of your stock rom. Save this backup to your pc or even burn it on cd.
After that you can flash a custom rom.in case of warranty, you cam restore the backup then replace recovery with stock and finally install stock hboot.
Swyped with cyanogenmod 7 powered HTC Desire HD. Excuse typos.
Thanks for reply
But before i can root it and install customrecovery, i have to downgrade my phone cause i hab 1.75 installed. And then there is no chance to backup my TMO Rom. Or am i wrong?
Hi everyone,
I rooted my brother's HTC Desire Z from Bell by following these guides (http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/HTC_Desire_Z:_Firmware_Downgrade_(Gingerbread), http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_vision). I rooted it for the sole purpose of being able to sim unlock and everything worked fine.
Now my only problem is, I don't know how to update from Froyo 2.2 to Gingerbread 2.3. I tried searching for software updates from the phone settings, but nothing turned up. I want to update it because some apps won't run on 2.2 and I don't want to use a custom rom because my brother will just get confused from the new ui and ask me a bazillion questions.
Also, the rom I am using right now is the stock rom of htc dz, but from a different country (I forgot to backup the original). Can anyone provide me the stock rom (rooted?) for HTC Desire Z from Bell (Canada). I don't think factory resetting it or hard resetting it will help cause the rom will remain the same.
One last question, if I unroot the phone and everything, will the phone remain sim unlocked?
Sorry for being a noob and thanks in advance.
Bump.

So you downgraded to 2.2 did you then use gfree to exploit and root?
Boot to bootloader and write everything from that screen down here
How exactly do I boot to bootloader? Is it Power + Volume Down? If it is, doing so only gets me to a screen searching for an image with the only choice being to update or not.

Take the sdcard out of your phone and try again
