Need help unrooting - Epic 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
I just got the epic last week and updated to froyo via samsung website then did the 1click root & recovery v2.5.5. Everything was fine except for gps, so I did the method about getting the msl #. After that it said to reset. After the reset it messed everything up. It went back to factory settings but was still rooted. (I thought I did a back up but did not)
I just want to unroot the phone and bring it back to regular froyo because a lot of apps that I had before can not be found on the market. I am a total noob and have been searching for the past 5 hrs and cant figure it out. I tried to do the 1 click uninstaller but it gave the error "one is not recognized as internal or external command. then it says adb is not recognized. Now I am totally lost not sure what to do. Any help is much appreciated.

EVO 2.2 UPDATE (Froyo), HELP !!!

Guys,
My Evo says Froyo 2.2 is avail for download when I check HTC Updates... I hit accept, it downloads, then asks if I want to install NOW... I HIT YES, and it takes me to the boot loader page, THEN DOES NOTHING.. It doesn't boot into recovery mode like it is supposed to, and it just sits on the Boot loader screen, NO TRIANGLE, NO BAR on the bottom showing the progress, IT JUST SITS THERE on the boot loader page with the 3 Androids on the bottom... I have already tried to hard reset the phone, BUT that didn't work... PLEASE HELP !!! Is there a way to HARD reset my EVO BACK to BEFORE ALL OF THE UPDATES??? IS THERE A WAY TO Force boot into recovery to apply the "update.zip" ??? Please advise...
Mine did'nt go no where near the bootloader screen...
I hit the download...then it just installed like any other app...except it brought me to a bar progress page a couple of times. Then the phone rebooted and whala...froyo.
I must say this...I was previosly rooted but unrooted to do it!!!
Are you rooted or unrooted to start off with?
Was rooted, but then I did the "update of June 29th" and ruined ALL of my fun... Is there even a way for me to root my phone now??? How do I get it to go into recovery?
Same issue
My EVO ISN'T ROOTED, and I'm having the same exact problem
You're hosed root wise until someone cracks the rom, if they crack the rom. Most likely you'll need to update to the official version once HTC releases an upgrade as they claimed they would eventually do on Twitter.
im not trying to root my phone, i just want froyo
right, I WAS rooted, the update in JUNE fixed that for me =(... NOW I just want FROYO which is available from Sprint/HTC OTA, it just wont install?????????? I think I can install it as an update.zip if I could get my phone into RECOVERY mode... When at the bootloader, if I hit Recovery, it just boots back to the BOOT LOADER????
I would suggest using this unroot program and make sure you use the 1.47 one because there are 3 different roms. This is what I did as I had the june update as you. This will guarantee that you have the right stock rom and are not rooted. Then try the update again...

This is the route I took and was just like you...I had no probs this way!
This is a great recommendation, but I haven't done any ROOT or ROMing to my phone since I've owned it, I've stayed true to the true image they released, and I'm not comfortable downgrading it to some other image that wasn't on the phone. I attempted to do the instructions outlined and I was unable to get pas the stage of pushing the:
RUU_Supersonic_1.47.651.1_Radio_2.05.00.06.10_release_CL195459
to the phone. It says USB error, and I have debugging mode enabled.

I RE-Loaded this version, as the other "older" versions would not work (re-loaded, as this is what I already HAD on my phone)... It wiped the system, and ALL of my info/apps (make sure you back up) and then I was able to do the Froyo Update... YES !!!! Thanks...

I did the same, thank you !
No prob...have fun!!!
Froyo Update Won't Install
To start off - I have never rooted my evo - my phone is running Android 2.1 update 1 supersonic - and I did not try to do the "pre-release" update put out by HTC. Since late last night, I have been trying to install Froyo through system updates (settings, system updates, htc software update). I am able to download the upgrade, which is about 80 MB, but for some reason the update will not install. When I click install now, my phone restarts in the bootloader. If I click on fastboot, it searches for an image on my SD card but can't find one. If I hit recovery, it just returns me to the main bootloader screen. The only thing I can do is reboot or shut down my phone. When my phone boots back up, it says the update is downloaded and ready to be installed. I have tried redownloading the update but the same thing happens. Any help would be appreciated, preferable without losing contacts and apps. I'm trying to save a factory reset for a last resort.
Thanks,
Nick
Nick,
Please read the earlier posts, and follow the link from Cardiox... He said the following...

Then read my posts, and you will see that I had the SAME problem you are having, and this worked for me... I posted the thread... It is pretty easy if you follow the instructions... Let me know if it works for you... Good luck !!!

I am not a genius by no means thus I am only sharing info that I have from personal trial and error. If you are going to a bootloader screen during this update process and your SD card is mounted then you most likely will need to bite the bullet and either do a factory reset or follow the link instructions so given. For some reason this update can not find the original factory code or RUU that it is trying to update. Sounds like your SD card is mounted but it can't find it...I would strongly consider just starting over with that link program. It does not root you it just puts you back square one with factory code. Then the update will have something to build off of...which you apparently don't have for whatever reason.
Ok, this is what I needed to know. I'm backing up my stuff with bitpim and will just do this. Thanks for all the help and the speedy responses!

[Q] Internet Not Working

I went to the Sprint store with my friend last week to swap our phones so he could see what using a smartphone is like before actually buying one. The guys there put my phone onto an old Samsung Rant and shortly after, realized that because my phone was running Cyanogen Mod I couldn't get his plan on my phone.
Anyway, they threw my number back on my phone and ever since it has not been able to get on the internet.
I backed up my phone and wiped everything twice. Once with Amon's Recovery, and once using clockwork. Then I did it two more times and put an entire different rom on it (Fresh 3.5.0.1). I updated my radio, as well.
So, in the end I restored back to my original backup of the Cyanogen Mod and haven't done anything after that. I tried to use HTC's stock .exe file to restore it to Stock but I got USB errors and it couldn't find my phone.
If it's any help, when I had the sense rom on it, I got an Error saying
"Error Code 67: Registration failure. Press ok for options. Your PCS Vision username and/or password may be incorrect. Please try again."
Any help is MUCH appreciated.

Bootlooping issue

Hello All,
My wife just recieved a refurbished phone through best buy. I tried to root her phone with unrevoked. When i went through with the process i got a error code through unreoked about firmware being too new. So after reading around I found out that it has the OTA FW and cannot be rooted yet. So after the root failed I cleared the storage on the phone. So now everytime she uses the phone it begins to boot loop when she begins to make a call. This is not my first time rooting I have done this plenty of times. Any Ideas?
Sounds like you've done what you can with the phone. Without s-off you cant flash the custom recovery to get more access to the file system so you're fairly stuck. You might try going into the phone settings and doing a full restore, just save any pics and whatnot she may have taken onto a computer so you can wipe the sd card for good measure as well. If that doesn't fix it then just take it to BB and tell them the refurb isn't working.
ok i will try erasing everything first and see what happens
How did everything work out?

[Q] Well, I've bricked my Sprint OG. Could use some help...

So I did something I knew better than to do, but after weeks of dealing with it, got annoyed and accepted it. There was a system update that came through a few weeks ago, pops up every ten minutes or so. Rooted and Freegee'd so I figured it was not in my best interest to accept this update. I tried to freeze it with Titanium, but that program for some reason constantly failed to load things, froze up, etc., even after reinstalls. Well, today, I decided to be dumb and said hell, let's see what happens. Hit "install now", phone rebooted into CWM, CWM asks if I wanted to accept this update, I said yes, gave me the broken android with the red triangle with a ! in the middle and said it failed. I selected reboot system now, it will only boot into recovery. I have two backups, neither of which CWM will load...ridiculous. Says MD5 mismatch, no idea what that means. Regardless, backups don't work. So, my question now is can I simply do a data wipe/factory reset or must I do an LGNPST? Also, will a data wipe/factory reset remove root and CWM? Because currently I have no reason for my phone to be rooted and unlocked, and CWM doesn't seem to function correctly anyways for me. I need a quick response please!
Look in general, there is a thread on how to recover from such things.
Cool. I'll see if I can figure it out. Thanks Chad.
Unbricked. It removed root and unlock, which from what I was reading, I didn't think it would do. Is it safe to update now? lol.

Tried to root, now system UI has stopped

I have a T-mobile LG G4 and I'm in the US. I did my research, watched videos, and read several threads about rooting... I thought I had it down. I followed the instructions in This thread exactly, to the best of my knowledge. Unfortunately, after my phone rebooted following step 10 (running the root script), it keeps saying "Unfortunately, System UI has stopped working" over and over.
I'm downloading the kdz files to return my phone to stock (hopefully--since I screwed up somehow, following the root instructions). But has anyone had this happen? Know what's causing it? Or how I can fix it besides a factory reset?
UPDATE: Ok, so I got freaked out reading about how returning to an earlier version of stock could brick your phone, so I decided to bite the bullet and do a hard factory reset. When I did, it asked if I wanted to restore from an earlier backup. I thought, "hey, no way it backed up after I just tried to root it, this backup ought to be safe!" and gave it a whirl. Well, when it finished restoring, root checker says I've successfully rooted! What the hell?! So, um... yay?
I have this exact same problem.
I have a tmobile variant and I had root previous(don't remember method I used). I installed the marshmallow rom, and thought it was too sluggish so I restored my device. But then my phone was wack...so I had to do a complete restore using flash tool. After that my phone worked fine, but I had no root. I attempted to use this new program with adb cmd. It worked but now my phone is sluggish the ui crashes, the camera doesn't work, and back buttons. I restored again... then rooted again.... same thing....so I restored AGAIN. I hope anyone can help.
Buuuuump
Bump Bump Bump... sadly this is the only known root I know of soooo #NoRoot4Meh :/
happen to me too..
just go to setting (use the notification shortcut), search for Home in apps (all apps) and then clear data and cache.
helped me to solved this problem, you will need to re-align your icons and apps on the launcher.
