I know that Activesync is free and helps to sync my PPC to Microsoft Outlook and it is based on Partnership. I want to sync the same Microsoft Outlook .PST file which can reside in my Office PC and my Home PC.
Even when I have the same .PST file in Microsoft Outlook from my office PC copied to my home PC, Activesync will take it as a different PC and I'll have to combine all the information from my PPC and Microsoft Outlook and delete duplicates after that. This is very troublesome.
Is there something or setting that I can do on Activesync to solve this problem or is there other software that can solve this troublesome step?
When I was using Palm OS, I don't have this problem
Thanks.
i hv this problem
i cant select calender with my active sync to sync it with my BA
did any one yet able to get me the settings to get out of this mess as i have most of my meetings planed and saved on my outlook
When I had windows xp running microsoft outlook I did not have any problems with active sync and my spv 3100. To sync my numbers and calenders. Since upgrading to windows vista, I cannot seem to sync with outlook 2000 for contacts/calenders. Only to sync my device for file transfer and modem support only...
Any work arounds

I have had a problem with every WM 6.1 ROM I have tried. After flashing, I set up a partnership with my Vista laptop, through WMDC, with no problems. However, when I then set up a second partnership with my Vista desktop pc, syncing with my laptop then fails every time. When I go back to my desktop, that fails as well, both with a message that "there is a problem with the PC".
I thought at first that this was an Outlook problem, and I had started a thread for that. Since then, I have flashed another 6.1 ROM, syncing only with my laptop. I had no problems, day after day. However, as soon as I added a second partnership with my desktop, I experienced the same sync problems.
When I revert to a WM 6 ROM, I have no problems with syncing to both computers.
Is there anyone out there who syncs a WM 6.1 ROM with two Vista computers?
6.1 has this problem. I've tried DOZENS of ROMs with the same results.
The only workaround I've found is to disable the calendar sync, sync, then enable calendar, and sync

Thanks for confirming the problem, Radimus. I wondered whether it was just me!
I don't know if the problem lies with WM 6.1 or Vista's WMDC (which only claims compatibility with WM 6.0).
I will try your workaround.
it is 6.1
I've tested with every combination of WMDC and 4.5, on vista and XP
Hopefully WM7 will fix this issue
Funambol
You could try Funambol or Schduleworld to sync that information over the air... and then sync Outlook (or even Thunderbid) with the Funambol service. you can sync as many computers and devices as you want. I haven't used activesync in a very long time thanks to this solution.
Plus it's free.
Good luck...

I've got a Vista Ultimate pc with Outlook 2007 and an XP pc with Outlook 2003.
I never can sync both calendars with my WM6 rom. So its not WM6.1 only thats the problem.
I think its caused by WMDC personally..
I analysed the Problem (WM6.1, 2 PC's Vista, Office 2007):
If you sync new empty Outlook-Po-Poxes then you'll have ounly Problems with Serialdatas. Only then, if you edit one of the dates on the second PC (addet on first PC, then sync on second PC). Sometimes also by fullday-more-day-dates.
What you can do: Make empty the second Po-Box. Then sync with First PC, then sync with second PC. After then, edit the serialdatas only on PC one. If you have Sync-Errors by more-day-dates, add or edit these only on PC one.
The point is, that you can edit these dates only on the PC where you have add them. If you edit them every time on the same PC, you'll never have problems. Insted Edit them, you can they also delete and add new. That's waht I do this moment.
I Hope, that Microsoft will make an update.....
I need help, I recently installed Windows 7 Professional on my desktop Pc. I then installed Windows Mobile Device Center and Microsoft Outlook so I can sync/backup my contacts. Well now when I try to sync my phone Windows Mobile Device Center gets an error. I tried to sync it with my laptop that is running Vista Ultimate and i get the same thing. I think I probably need to hard reset my phone but I can't because I don't have a backup of my contacts since I reformatted my desktop pc. Anyone know what the problem could be with my phone that's causing it not to sync? Or what is another useful tool to backup contacts. I have Microsoft My phone and it won't let me backup contacts cuz I already have it set to backup thru Outlook.
Are you running Outlook 2010 on a 64 bit operating system by chance? If so, the Mobile Device Center won't work. I was searching about this all morning.
D.
No i'm running Outlook 2007. I think it has something to do with the phone cuz I'm unable to sync it with Vista or Windows 7
Have you a gmail account?
If so set it up with Exchange to sync your contacts and calendar, then you can reset the phone
i have the exact same problem!
besides that, i see that when i sync, Office 2007 (and WMDC 6.1 on Windows 7) takes the contacts i have in hotmail, and the contacts i previously had on my phone, and adds them all together, and then syncs them to my phone.. this is killing me, everything i sync my phone i have a bunch of unsorted and unwanted email addresses in my "contacts" in the phone.
any solution for this? before i used to sync contacts with no problem, in Office i even had a seperate group for hotmail contacts and just my phone contacts.. now its only 1 group together, any idea how to separete them??
I am using a Win 7, 64 bit. Just bought my Desire.
Unable to sync.
I was using HTC Hero before this, I tried the same method which I sync-ed my Hero but it does not work anymore.
I did download the latest version of HTC Sync but this HTC Sync just can't detech my phone.
Anybody there could help?
Does the computer (rather than the program) first detect the phone?
(D'oh question Is the phone in disk drive or sync mode?
I also have Win 7 64-bit. I've never used HTC Sync but I do regularly connect up to the computer for file transfer.
HTC Sync works fine with W7 x64 (I use it) - the issue I've got is it now syncing with Outlook 2010 x64...I use my other PC with Outlook 2007 for that
Had a similar problem. Installed HTC sync on Win7-64 and it worked but then it stopped working after a while.
In my case I changed the USB port without noticing and constantly got a device recognition error. When I reverted to the initial USB port it just worked well again. It might also be that some device is connected to the same USB root hub and disturbs the connection, so try a different port and install the software again.
Im i the rarity that has Win7 X64 and Outlook 2010 working and working well with HTC Sync??
Try starting fresh and seeing what happens
My Desire is currently syncing with my Windows 7 X64 / Office 2010 32bit laptop without any problem. I'm using it from when office was still in Beta 1...
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Error when I try and sync...
I have just got a Desire and when I try and sync (v 3.0.5.422) I get an empty window open with the title 'Error'.
Weird thing is that I had exactly the same thing trying to sync my previous phone, a TouchHD with Windows Mobile 6.5 using ActiveSync.
I am running Windows 7 x64 Ultimate and Office x64 2010.
As I get the same error with both ActiveSync and HTC Sync that tells me thats its a W7 issue but I have no idea what !!!
Has anyone had and more importantly, resolved this ?
Thanks
sync
Use gsyncit 64 bit for outlook 64, it will sync outlook with google, so all my conctacts and calendar, are synced on my Desire
32bit, 64bit
It doesn't matter if you have Windows 7 32bit or 64bit. What is important, is which bit version you have on your Outlook.
Outlook 2010 32bit is supported by HTC Sync v.3.0.5422.
Outlook 2010 64bit is not.
HTC is working on a version that can communicate with Outlook 2010 x64.
The error message you got if you have Outlook 2010 x64 is:
"Either there is no default mail client or the current mail client cannot fulfill the
messaging request. Please run Microsoft Outlook and set it as the default mail
client."
That means: Current mail client cannot fulfill the messaging request (It's not 32bit).
So, if you have Windows 7 x64 with Outlook x86, HTC Sync works.

That is not all, WinMo has the same problem. Quote from Microsoft technet site:
"Windows Mobile Device Center (WMDC) synchronization, WMDC does not synchronize with Microsoft Outlook 2010 if you use the 64-bit version of Outlook 2010. In such cases, an error message displays that states that there is no default mail client or the current mail client cannot fulfill the messaging. WMDC synchronizes correctly with the 32-bit version of Outlook 2010. To synchronize a Windows Phone with Outlook 2010 by using Windows Mobile Device Center, uninstall Outlook 2010 64-bit. Then use the original installer that you used to obtain Outlook 2010 64-bit to install Outlook 2010 32-bit. Outlook 2010 32-bit is the default option."

Ah I wonder if that's why I am having problems too with w7 x64 and outlook 2010 x64
2010 x32 worked fine though on w7 x64
is gsyncit free?
The newer HTC Sync still gives a random 'error' when trying to sync contacts to outlook 2010 x64.
gsyncit sync's gmail contacts - but my gmail contacts don't sync from phone -> gmail ? is that because I am doing something wrong?
when I log in to gmail I have no contacts, but my phone has lots... I don't really want to uninstall outlook and reinstall the x32 bit if I can help it... but can't seem to find anyway to sync my contacts on my phone... anyone able to help?
Has the phone and email corruption issues been fixed?
Also does it work on more than one PC eg work and home?
Will continue to use MyPhoneExplorer instead of HTS until these have been sorted.
Mailed HTC asking if HTC Sync will be able to support outlook 2010 x64 eventually and got this back:

In order to sort this problem out you would need to follow these steps:
- Uninstall the HTC Sync and drivers form your PC and then download a new version of HTC Sync from http://www.htc.com/uk/support.aspx
- Before installing HTC Sync on your PC you would need to disconnect from the internet (simply disable the WiFi network or unplug the LAN cable), disable firewall and antivirus. Note: The reason for disconnecting from the internet is to avoid Windows retrieving wrong drivers from internet and not from HTC Sync.
- Install new version of HTC Sync and connect the device to the PC
- While the device is connected go to the status bar on the device (the line on the top of the screen) press and slide it down, then change USB mode to HTC Sync.
* If the HTC Sync still indicates that the device is not connected – try to connect to a different USB port and make sure you are connected directly to the PC, do not use USB hub or any USB extensions.
* Make sure you do not have any other synchronisation software installed on your PC as they might interfere with HTC Sync.
* You would need to be logged in to your PC as administrator.
* Reboot your PC and mobile device and then try to sync again.
* You can also try to synchronize with another computer and see if it is the problem with the PC or the handset.
* If you are using Outlook 2010 64bit it will not synchronise as it is not supported just yet with this version.
With HTC Sync you will be able to synchronise your contacts, calendar, documents, browser bookmarks and multimedia files such as video, music and photos.
If none of these troubleshooting steps resolved the issue, please contact us (use this contact details - http://www.htc.com/uk/CA_Hotline.aspx ) and we will attempt to explore further troubleshooting avenues.

Not sure why they didn't say that the 64bit is not supported yet first - but there we go... hopefully in a few versions time it may be working.
For now though - I think I'll downgrade to 32bit outlook so I can sync.
I've yet to find a free app that Syncs reliably and effectively between Outlook contacts and Google.

In terms of Outlook > Android sync I can recommend MyPhoneExplorer
64bit Outlook 2010 Sync Support
Just wondering if HTC Sync v3.0.5511 still does not support Outlook 2010 64bit? Also there are two versions of HTC Sync at HTC under the Desire. HTC Sync v3.0.5511 and HTC Sync v3.0.5511 (NAM) anyone know what the difference is?
Just flashed DHD on my HD2 and cant get it to sync with 64bit Outlook 2010. Neither HTC Sync nor MyPhoneExplorer 1.8 seem to work. Am I still doing something wrong or is it still incompatible?
If I would not have gotten this Problem I would not have noticed that I installed the 64bit version. I guess I can just revert to 32bit Outlook 2010 somehow. I dont realy remember choosing 64bit during the installation but oh well I guess I am getting old. Or does anyone here knows of a way to make it work?
You have to reinstall all office items to put 32 bit on. Also I think the installer tries to be intelligent

You are right had to uninstall 64bit Office completely and reinstall Office 32bit with the right installer.
