Its alive!
Thanks for trying to help but i finally figured it out.
First of all, my phone did end up going into download mode but when it tried to turn on, the screen went black and and a phone and a computer on it with an '!' between.
After a while i finally got the phone to boot in recovery mode.
It still didnt read it on odin so i reinstalled the drivers and closed odin.
I also had to wipe the cache on my phone.
After an hour or so... i finally got it to read on odin and applied the tar and it finally turned on!
Sorry for wasting ur time...

Try flashing the Rom again.
Do you BONSAI?
Just like kennyglass123 said. Re flash. make sure you do all the wipes ahead of time.
i just reflash the rom samething happens wont go out of airplane mode i wipe everything 3 times
close odin, boot the phone to download mode, re odin, then reflash....make sure you close odin before you do any of it.
Edit: make sure the phone isnt connected to the computer when you put it in download mode

Very important Edit! Took me a few times myself before I caught on to that.
Im trying to odin the ec05 modem on my epic so i can update it to the EI22 modem. But i accidently put the tar in the phone section on odin (v1.85) and not pda. This failed (ive used this cord to odin my phone a few times in the past), and after a few seconds the download screen went away like it was rebooting, but nothing happened. I put my phone back into download mode but odin doesn't see my phone and windows doesn't recognize what it is. When i try to boot the phone regularly it gives me the phone ! computer image. so my question is, what should i try to attempt to get odin or windows to recognize my phone so i can fix this?
Look at the sticky thread in developement about bring the phone back from a soft brick

Your cable is going bad. It should have still worked in the phone section. The screen going blank is a sign that your phone lost connection. As Flastnoles11 mentioned here is the sticky at the top of development. Follow it exactly and you should be fine, but you will need a better cable like an HTC, Blackberry or Palm.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1052813
Yes, the cable has a lot to do with it. But also pull the battery, and leave it off for about 5mins, and press and hold the phones power button for about 10 secs to release remaining electrical charge in phone. (But try another cable)

I've got a super bad brick , I can my sgs ii in download mode w/ a jig but i can't boot or get into recovery at all. When i press the power button it just vibrates. Help would be much appreciated. Thank you!
EDIT: even tho I can get into download mode neither odin nor heimdall will not recognized my device, and I already tried deleting and re-installing drivers
I am in the same boat. Flashed the new TWRP recovery and bam...phone is dead. Does not turn on, can not recover, no Odin for download mode. Nothing. Going to try to return it tomorrow morning and see if the warranty will hold up for me
same here are you sure this is a brick?
Don't say you used jelly bean Rom

Be sure and turn of your anti virus and fire wall, open Odin after you enter download mode.
If still no connection to Odin make sure you have the correct Odin (or it has worked in the past)...
Just keep trying different solutions. If you are indeed in download mode. reboot your pc redownload Odin charge your battery, just keep trying coherent fixes and you might nurse your phone back to health.

So I was running CM10 and decided to go back to something else until it got a little more stable. So I downloaded the Epic 4G stock package for Odin, untarred it and created a Heimdall package from the contents of the Odin archive. According to Heimdall the flash was successful. However now my phone won't boot. Can't even get into download mode. Even tried doing the download mode key sequence and attempting to detect it even though nothing is showing up on the screen. Nothing.. =(. Did I manage to completely brick my phone?

are you using a mac? I don't think heimdall is completely stable on that. try taking the battery out, and pressing 1 and power and hold while putting the battery back in. If it doesnt work you could always sell it to me

Built heimdall 1.31 from source on Arch Linux. Used this same build a while back to flash cwm5 with no issue. Tried holding 1 and power while putting battery in. Nothing happened...

Sorry. It did occur to me that I posted in the wrong forum after the fact...
Just ordered a USB jig from Amazon that might get me into DL mode...we'll see...
same thing happened to me with a i9000 and archlinux too, usb jig didn't work either, sent the phone to repair and they told me to change the motherboard.
Hey... i searched for a solution and couldn't find one....
So i tried to install the Omega rom, the process went by pretty quickly, that's when i became suspicious.
Now i can turn my phone on, but there is something... strange... for instance once the screen turns off, the phone plays dead until i restart it.
i can get into download mode, and i did, tried to install cwm6 again, but it didnt work.
and if i try to go into recovery mode (vol up home and power) it just hangs on the "Samsung galaxy note 2 n-7100" screen.
Thanks for the help in advance =]
edit: Forgot to mention, if i plug it into the pc, windows/kies doesn't recognise it.
:< Please help me i am completly lost and beating my self up for trying this foolishness
Did u check "usb debug" on your device? Try samsung driver instead.
Try reflash recovery via pc odin again.
Might wanna try TWRP as people have been having issues with CWM when flashing ROM's.
Hey thanks for the answers, i indeed check usb debugging and it is on.
i also relized i SOMEHOW managed to download the galaxy s3 rom instead of the note 2 rom and flash it, and i guess thats the problem, however im sure it didnt flash right, any way i downloaded the correct rom and flashed it using mobile odin, every thing worked fine
however i still cant get into recovery mod, and the problem where the device stays in sleep mode is still there...
Im going to try this TWRP thingy now

By the way, as noted by Adam Outler, you should not use ODIN to continuously flash ROM's. Just to reset phone if needed. Using ODIN to flash ROM's will only turn out badly.

Are you using a USB 2.0 or 3.0 port? use 20. if you're not already.

im using 2.0, i tried every usb port on my pc just in case....
The thing is it used to work earlier, before ive gone and messed it all up
Sorry you're not having much luck. Maybe one of the brilliant devs will hop in and lend some thoughts. I'm out of ideas at the moment.
Thanks any way dude, appreciate it.
Im going to sleep, but let me reiterate the problem.
- Tried to flash a Galaxy s3 rom onto the Note 2, dont ask me how i made this mistake
- something.. happened during the flash
- now the phone wouldn't connect to usb (so i cant use odin) and after the screen turns off it wont turn back on again without switching the device off and on
- eventually downloaded the note 2 rom (omega) and flashed it using mobile odin, this time the proccess finished fine, but...
-Still cant connect the phone to the pc usb, (it charges tho, drivers are installed)
-Screen still wont come back on after it turns off
Shameless bump =[
Man.......
im guessing this problem is not a common one eh?
I hate to spam but im really lost, having this 600$ mirrior feels bad :<
Have you tried flashing a stock rom with odin mobile? I've not used odin mobile so I have no idea what it can and can't do. But you could try flashing a stock rom and then put Cwm or twrp after you have checked it
