WRONG FORUM! Also, you could find this if you looked at the FIRST TWO PAGES!!!

to get into recovery mode for the evo you hold down the volume down button and the power button at the same time until the phone powers up...then it goes into recovery

Actually it goes into bootloader, from there you select recovery navigating with the volume buttons and selecting with the power button.
Also Yes, this is the wrong section and a little searching would have given you this answer.

Don't help... it just fuels the "ZOMGWTFBBQ I HAS PROBLEMZ!" / "I'll just post this without searching and let someone do the hard work for me" mentality.

Lol "don't help" :\
Some people really can't find things by searching. Oh, and XDA is surely the most organized place in the world. :| Just because you feel you're too good to help, doesn't mean other people shouldn't. Get over it and keep scrolling.

Did anyone else see Clockwork flash briefly?

Exactly what the title says. I went to reboot for the first time after rooting ICS on my phone. For a brief second clockwork recovery flashed on screen. Then I got a blank backlit screen for about 5 seconds. It then flashed the loading ring with the arrow and the clockwork hat. Then it rebooted right back in normally. Weird. Call BS all you want, I swear this to be true.

EDIT: I am able to reproduce this!! To do so, do the following:
Force restart your phone by holding Power + Volume Up. Once it vibrates, let go of the power button, but continue to hold Volume UP. Once SONY appears on screen, press and hold it, while still holding the Volume UP button. It "should" now appear.
The CAMERA button acts as the OK button in this recovery.
NOTICE!!! - What you do is your own risk, my phone wont keep it on screen for more than 90 seconds.
Thanks to: ganeshbiyer for informing me about pressing the sony logo on screen

It is the part of rooting toolkit.
Keep pressing the Sony Logo while booting to access the recovery.
First time it is seen and then goes blank, press vol down to display it.
But nothing works.

I wasn't able to access recovery by simply pressing the SONY logo. The only way I was able was in conjunction with the Volume UP button.

Home Button .... Ok
And,
We have to keep tapping SONY logo while booting. I got recovery that way.
All this is super exciting. Its all happening so fast now

Yea, the bad thing is that since it was designed for Xperia S and not the Ion you cannot back up yet.
Anyone messaged doomlord to see if he's willing to try making cwm for ion now that we have legit ICS?

Not sure where he is located, but if he is within 100 miles of me, I'll take him my phone for testing/dev.
Anyone try making the CWM folders on the SDCARD and see if CWM will work then? I would try but I forget what the folder names are suppose to be.
good things are happening one after the other
Welp i PMed doomlord hopefully he gets it and reads it. His profile mentions he might ignore it. Hes done kernels for x10 and xperia s and my beloved htc flyer. I guess the community donated him a xperia S ...

Doomlord, I know you've done a lot of developing for Sony smartphones. Do you have any intentions on developing for the Ion? I have an AT&T Ion. If you do plan to develop. Let me know if I can provide anything that may be of help. This phone has plenty of potential, and I know you can exploit it.

Just press power and home button in the same time and hold it for 3 seconds in 4.0.4 tw roms. Simple
If you get the task manager thing, that means your doing it wrong and not pressing it in the same time.

Download Mode?

Ok so I made the jump to zv9 and after realizing my mistake I want to downgrade with LGNPST and root. Long story short, I've used every button combination on this phone and can't get into download mode. I know it's supposed to be vol(up + down) + power but it's not doing anything other than booting up. Am I doing something wrong? Did I hold it too long? Not long enough? Do i sacrifice a goat to the gods of LG? Someone please help...

I cant boot up! My phone just freaked out, no I havent messed with JB yet, but I cant boot into anything. LGNPST zv7, zv9 and it freezes at the 4GLTE logo. ADB shell won't let me wipe /data and I think that's where my problem is.
vol up + power? or vol down + power? let go when the cap lights flash

Vol+down gets the lights, but holding it, or letting go just boots me back to the 4glte screen

[Q] My galaxy s2 SGH-T989 wont turn on.

Ok, so i can't really tell if this particular problem has been posted before but from what i have looked through it has not. However, if i have just missed it then please just redirect me to it as long as it matches my problem so please read through my post before posting that its been done.
So moving along, as the title says i have a Samsung Galaxy s2 SGH-T989 and i've been running CyanogenMod 10.2. Oh and before i forget, the battery is not dead and just in case i've tried to turn it on while plugged in only to get the same results. Anyways over the past 24 hours my phone started shutting off randomly to the point now that it shuts off before finishing booting. If it does finish it doesn't stay on long enough to do anything and sometimes it barely turns on.
Has this been heard of before and even if not what can i try or do?
Three words:
Broken power button
Apparently it's a very common issue with this phone.
It has yet to happen on my phone. I hope it never does lol.
You can try replacing the button yourself or take it to a cellphone repair shop.
Sounds right, the button is difficult to replace, best to have a shop replace it. I have fixed a couple by tightening the button. You tube, easy power button fix t989 by iamkambodian. Only if you're OK with taking it apart.
Ps, you can feel the button click if it's good.

Well i tried the method in the video and that doesn't seem to have fixed it. Also not entirely sure its the power button but i don't really know how to tell either. Anyways if there are any other ideas please let me know.
This is what I did when I messed up a recovery: plugged it in the computer and held all 3 buttons until Samsung then just volume up. It got me into download mode where I used Odin to flash another recovery.
