Extended 3500mah ebay batteries? - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Has anyone bought any of the 3500mah extended batteries off ebay? $30-40 seems really cheap for that. I know they're from china but can anyone tell me about how much more battery life ill actually get with one? Thanks
And if anyone has a picture of how much bigger it makes ur evo thatd be great...

Get the ones from china; you can get them for like $1, and 10$ for shipping...
and the 3500Mah battery gives you 2.33x more battery over stock.

Well ya I know its technicly 2.33x more but are the batteries actually that big? Do u have one? Thanks

Yea, you can easily go a day on that battery. With some under/over clocking you can get 2 day+.

I got 3 days on a 1750 battery from BB that is the same size as the stock battery.
all depends on what you setup to do what.
also, the extended batteries do make your phone huge. At least to me it seems huge. Then again. I am from the iphone, and every iphone, specially the iphone 4, makes the evo look fat as it is.

Does it really? The one I have is nice and streamlined.

My $10 eBay 3500 w/back works fine. Has more juice than stock. Can get a full day out of it

Link? Please

you bought the 1750mah platinum series by seido at best buy? that one is lithium polymer, thats how they can get the 1750mah rating in the stock form factor. how is the battery? build quality, temperature while in use, heavy use, charging?

the temp is in the same ranges as my stock battery, if not slightly cooler to be honest. My phone would feel hot say while charging with the stock battery, my phone stays cool when charging with the seido battery.
as for build quality, it seems just fine, except the cover around the battery is a little loose, cannot say for sure if it is this battery as a whole or just mine, but it doesn't seem to cause any problems other than my OCD kicks in when I have to pull the battery out haha.

I got my eBay China 3500 mah battery 2 week ago and I love it. Problem is it took 2 months to get here since it came straight from China. But, hey it only cost $7 so I cant complain. My phone can finally last a full day under heavy use. Heavy as in constant YouTube and web browsing. Plus wifi, 4G and gps stays on all day. I plan to order another 7 dollar battery for backup.

I ordered a two pack, 2 batteries and two backs w/ external charger. There are two evo's in the house that use them and both work wonderful. I use mine all day under heavy use, mainly bluetooth music streming to my vehicle. I can go a day and half maybe, but I charge every night. My wife can use hers for three days with light use, facebook and crap. I spent $18 including shipping and the phone feels much better in hand, I prefer the extra heft. Here are a few pictures next to an american quarter for size (too lazy to grab other phone and swap batteries).
Hope this helps. It is very cheap, you should just do it, if you don't like it sell 'em on craigslist.

Anyone get anything like this?
Does it give the same results as the seidio battery that goes for $69.99?
Just trying to get some info before I "get what I paid for"
did you try searching first? Theres tons of threads on this battery. I love it and I think its great, I use it every day and it protects the camera lens. defiantly worth the money, forget that sedio ripoff battery unless your rich.

I got my batteries from this guy. They are amazing for the price, not as good as seido but they do hold a charge. I charge mine on the charger it comes with only after I know they are completely dead. I can tell I get about 30-40% more battery life out of them compared to stock, just make sure you cycle them a bunch once you get them. After a few complete drains and full charges they do pretty well. Well worth the money. for 10 more bucks u can get another battery and charger.

I have 2 of these and 2 Seidios. The Seidio's are much better. (I only paid $50 and $45 (one was used from someone with an Incredible on eBay, really is exactly the same battery tho).
The Seidio's have been tested at batteryboss.org to actually be around 2800mAh, which is still about 90% better than stock battery.
After using the 3500mAh Chinese ones, I get the feeling they are actually more around 2100-2150mAh (just my guess, won't know for sure until batteryboss tests them), which is only about 40% better than stock.
Lots of info on the ebay batteries all around. I have the 3000mah and love it. I can finally go all day without charging my phone. I dont even have to think about my battery any more because no matter what it wont be dead before I'm going to bed at night. It would be nearing dead before around lunch time sometimes.
From what I have read though, is that all of these ebay batteries are just 2600mah batteries with different stickers on them....Either way, it last me longer than what I need it to, so I am very happy with it.
Do the 2700, 3000, 3200, and 3500mAH batteries on eBay all seem to come with the same rear cover and make the Evo equally thick, or are the smaller batteries a little bit thinner than the largest ones and sold with slightly lower-profile covers?
Is there a way to buy these for that price without ebay? I got banned over $10. I looked around the cheapest I could find was $50.

This is what the MAH seems around, on ebay this would prob be 10 bucks but since you got banned this was the cheapest i found. I wonder if anyone has tried using these back covers with the seidio battery. I bought the 3500mah ebay battery they just have a higher mah sticker on them but i will post results after 5 or 6 full discharge cycles.

So far, there are two extended battery backs: the Seidio and the "Chinese". I've not seen any others.
I saw those on Amazon, they have a couple of 3500's for 40+shipping. Ill probably just pick up one of those. Thanks.

With the battery conditioned 3 times so far, I am at 72% as we speak. I have been using moderate use with 3g enabled synce full volume and medium brightness. I have been surfing the web and I have sent out about 50 texts. Made around 5 3 minutes calls. These battery's seem to be worth the money if you don't want to spend 60 dollars. I have 2 of these batteries and 1 of them is really good and the other one is so so. The good one is the one I am using now, I am guessing it is around 2100-2500mah not close to seido bat a LOT cheaper with a better back cover. I will post pics when this thing actually dies. I am at 5 hours of awake time and 18 hours of uptime with 18 hours since unplugged. I am also overclocked to 1.2ghz with a live wallpaper running the whole time . I got mine off ebay from feitong2009. Sorry for the wall of text, I just like to help people out a little.
Yea I need one cause I stream radio over 3g alot at work, I get about 3-4 hours on a charge. If I could get at least 8 or more with a fat batt, I'll be happy.
I believe they are only rated at around 2200mah...
I have one, it's alright, I don't use it... makes the phone too far for what it's worth.
Here is the battery life at the end of the day. I turned on the phone before I went to bed and put it into airplane mode. When I woke up I did moderate use through the whole day. Good enough for me.
The ones from feitong are legit. Ice had mine for about a month and a half and I'm getting about 12-18 hrs on medium to heavy usage

Yeah, I ordered one. For $10 - why not? I'll post back my thoughts after I receive and try it out for a bit.
For those who can't but on ebay, gorillagadget has them for $20 and obostore.com has the Yooboa(sp?) 3500mah battery with ebay back for $30. Yooboa is a well known chinese battery brand.
Swyped from my supercharged Evo!
I wonder how the Yoobao stacks up to the seidio. Prob the same as the 10 dollar battery's.
I imagine it is slightly better than the ebay batteries yet still slightly under the Seidio. There is a very small difference in between them all though. All of these batteries should be within $10 of each other. Its just crazy that the Seidio is so much when it just barely out last the ebay batteries....

I have the yoobao battery with the external charger from the obostore. I get 2 days of moderate to heavy use. The most i have got was 83 hours from light to moderate use. I'm running Freshes rom. Theirs a big difference in the battery life if you use the external charger.

(opinion)which should i buy seidio 3500mah or sprint extended battery

I just saw a seidio 3500mah for $43 plus 5.99 shipping about $50 but the sprint extended battery is $49.99 also just want to know ,your opinion which one is my best choice ,who has a sprint extended battery and who has a seidio please help.
Is the Sprint battery 3500mAh? I thought it was less.
I have the seidio battery and have used it the most of the other batteries I have. Its good and last longer than stock as expected. I don't think you will see any real-world difference between 3200 and 3500mAh.
Really you need to decide which back panel you like better. At first first I hated seidio's, but it grew on me and that boxy back plate actually helps me to hold the phone better. Its weird, but how often do you look at the back of the phone??
Funny enough, I'm back to trying out the stock battery....
Edit: Sprint also includes a white back panel with their battery, if that make any difference.
Neither. Those extended batteries are a rip off and they make your phone bulky as hell. Completely defeats the sleek aesthetic of the EVO. Do yourself a favor, buy these batteries. They last a little longer than stock, you get two of them and a dock charger for $17 with free shipping. Just keep a charged spare with you and swap it out when you need to. So much nicer than having to lug a bulky evo around.

Personally, I'd rather not worry about carrying another battery around when I need extra life. A naked phone with the seidio battery is just as thick a regular phone with a medium sized case, probably less bulky. And I don't use cases.
I go through phases. Right now I'm in max power-save mode with stock batteries; waiting for those Chinese batteries to come in. When I fell like OC'ing for performance, I'll switch to the extended and not worry. Totally worth the costs for me. To each their own.
Carrying a spare stock battery is my suggestion.
Why create bulk on such a sleek device
The Evo stock battery is so flat, you can slip it in anywhere.
You do realize some people care more about function rather then looks.
You can have both with a spare
Personally, I don't give up function by carrying a spare. In addition, with the standard battery, the phone slips right into my pocket without any discomfort.
I don't know if the the OP keeps his Evo in his pocket, but this also may be something to consider.
I have two of the Chinese battery they probably give me a few min more than stock,I have tried kernels to make my battery last, but is just not working ,I see guys w extended battery say they get 20+hrs I cam barely make 6w moderate use on stock and Chinese like 6 1/2hrs.....
I don't have a problem with storing the EVO with monster battery in my pocket. For anyone that carries a spare: do you throw battery management out the window? Because I can keep all of the radios on, OC to 1.19GHz, screen brightness way up, live wallpaper, hotspot, etc, and not be concerned about the battery. It is totally worth the thicker form-factor for me and the OP.
OP, either battery should be about the same. The seidio is the only one that has a case that fits. If that doesn't matter, pick the one with the back plate you like the most.
From my EVO when I should probably be doing something else instead.

sprint is 2600mah ... for me it run for 20 hrs with 30% still left, have 2 emails sync every hour and exchange as items arrive, handcent sms, facebook once in a while, phandroid and some other stuff.
Not sure about Sprint's battery, but I personally have the Seidio 3500mAh and I love it! I had a Seidio 3200mAh on my previous Sprint Mogul phone and that **** lasted 4 days of moderate usage while roaming in a different state!
With the Seidio 3500mAh, I use it about 14hrs a day constantly with heavy usage (20% text, 40% internet, 20% talk, 20% games) and usually end up with 40-60% battery life left at the end of the night consistantly (using Myn's RSL5 rom and Netarchy 4.2.3 SBC kernel).
It also helps to use a SBC kernel, at least in my case. Noticed a big difference, but YMMV.
Hope this helps.

I've been using the 3500mh Seidio battery for several months now and I would never go back to the stock battery. It's just so nice to use the phone heavily all day and not have to worry about having enough juice to last a full day. Now that I'm using Roms and setcpu and other programs which improve battery life, this thing lasts forever.
As a side note, I was in the Sprint store just last week comparing the size of the Sprint 2600mh battery to the 3500mh Seidio and they're literally almost identical in size. The seidio is just a tiny smidge thicker. In fact I tried to fit the Sprint backplate over the seidio battery and it almost fit perfectly.
Point is, if you're going to get either one, and they're basically the same size, why not get the one with 35% more capacity? No brainer to me.
Ok ,just pulled the trigger bought the 3500mah for $53 at amazon w 2-6 day ship total was $53 should receive by sat ...u guys think this was a good deal?

3500 seidio. I thought the rounded cover of the mugen would be good, but I didn't like it; I felt I was going to drop the phone every time I held it.
But right now I'm trying out the stock size again to see if it works for my daily usage. And I felt like using a case for a while.
From my EVO when I should probably be doing something else instead.
I just got my 3500 Seidio battery from Ebay & am having trouble draining the battery. I love having this issue, lol. I went 24hrs without a charge & with heavy usage. Now I have about 9% battery left. The stock battery would have died in 5hrs.

99!!! Too expansive.
Here's 3500mAh with normal price.

I used one of these "extended batteries" for my previous phone.. Didn't work very well.. Maybe this one is better
I lol @ anyone who thinks that a 8$ extended battery is actually any better than the stock one Possibly even worse.

On my previous phone 6$ battery with 3500mAh worked much longer than stock battery.
I might get this battery. I am getting a decent amount of battery life now. I want to see how fat the mofo will be first!
I've used a 3200mAh from Mugen for my Desire and it worked fine. Will try this one, should give you round about one business week.
I keep you in touch when I got it.
Had an excellent experience with the same battery for SGS and definitely going to buy this one for my SGS II!!!
Mugen batteries are quality batteries.
If a 1650mAh samsung battery costs about 50$, then 99$ for double the power is a logical price.
mugen makes great batteries. bought one for my nexus one and it works great. you take risk buying those el cheapos on ebay. not all are bad, but by the time you finish buying one that is rated at face value you might end up spending $99. haha.
And your beautiful slim-lined phone is gone...
No thanx!
who needs slim? some people like meat on their phones. and for them to keep going and going all night long.
I just pulled the trigger! Got it directly from mugen which ships on the 15th:
http://www.mugen-power-batteries.co...ung-galaxy-s-ii-si9100-with-battery-door.html
I've used their extended batteries for the nexus one, the G2x and the Atrix and all of them have been awesome. I'm not really bothered by the thickness or weight of the phone as some do. I prefer the extended battery life. Didn't think twice about this one.

Yeah it will. Mugen makes very good batteries.
The only issue now is to see how many MM they've added onto it! It looks pretty ugly right off the top. But that's OK I guess.
I get 1 full day of usage off of the stock battery. So the extended will give me 2 days as it's just under 2x the power.
15.5 mm with the mugen accessories. so almost double thickness.
srsly?
Nearly 100 quid to make your phone look ugly as hell?
I easily get 2 days out of my battery, no need to dismember it like that.

And do you actually USE your phone? Yesterday mine was on standby for about 24 hours with 1 hour of screen usage in the 24 hours. This morning I woke up, I had 65% left. Which is fine! Perfect. But with me actually using my phone all day? I'll get 18 hours. Now! Imagine playing games and streaming content all day with that huge battery hehe.
I like the battery, I won't like the design of the phone much afterwards. I'll wait for someone to get it and take lots of pictures and even a video review. I'm not dying right now for battery life Not to mention, an OEM battery is about 24 euros. So I could get essentially 3 OEM batteries for less than the price of the Mugen!
Interested.....
Waiting for opinion on the batery
Cheers

I Want to Buy an Extended Battery But Which One???

Ive looked around abit and the reviews are mixed for all batteries.
I was wondering your guys honest opinion on a few ive looked at.
3500 mAh Gorilla Gadget: http://gorillagadgets.com/samsung-epic-4g-extended-battery-3500mah-with-back-plate.html
Hyperion 3500 mAh: http://www.amazon.com/Hyperion-Sams...4JFS/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1324412744&sr=8-6
Seidio Innocell 3300 mAh: http://www.amazon.com/Seidio-Innoce...8EYM/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1324412744&sr=8-3
Im mainly looking into Hyperion and Gorilla Gadget, Seidio is a bit expensive
i Currently can get 8-10 Hours with med-heavy usage depending on how much i game. i can probably get around 20 Hours with minimal use just texting and bare bones. im running Starskys Rom 1.5, Samurai 3.30 Ninja, NO OC/UV on VR l/0 scheduler and conservative. What would be the best battery to get out of those and is it honestly worth it?
Any suggestions are appreciated
I have been using the gorilla gadget battery for just under a year. I bought it because of the price. I still only seem to get 10 to 12 with heavy usage (work and personal phone) but with light usage I have gone 20+.
I am running CM7.
Keep in mind though it does take a nice light thin phone and bloats it. And it definitely adds some weight.
Doesn't fit in a pocket quite as comfortably as the stock battery Al though I have gotten used to it at this point.

How is it compared to the 3500 mah batteries
I've heard that the Samsung 1800 mAh battery for the Epic Touch works just as well as the generic 3000mAh batteries.
Yeah, id have to say the 3500, with the added clutter isn't worth it but that's just my opinion. The 1800 pops right in and lasts a good 14 hours with a lot of usage.
Another thing to consider is where the battery is made. My factory 1500 was china, and the samsung 1800 I ordered was from japan. The difference and quality is noticeable.

Here's the best option. The Seidio 3300 battery. This is the new version and uses all japanese cells, high quality.
But regardless of what extended batter you get, you must also purchass the Mugen extended batter door. This is by far the best extended batter door and feels perfit in my hands, I've held them all. Fits snuggly too.

Ok but is the seidio any good i mean compare that to the 3200 or 3500 mah mugen power one. i mean i already bought the gorilla gadget one ill be getting this tomorrow and see how good is i mean i didn't go wrong paying only 26.99 for it.
And does anybody know anything about the Hyperion battery?
If anyone has some suggestions how about mugen power batteries compared to OEM?
go read batteryboss.org
I got a pair of 8$ 3500's with a "3 year warranty" off ebay, that came with extended backs and a 4$ cradle charger for the second battery.
I get 24+ hours out of the phone and can game endlessly by swapping batteries if needed.
also the big battery feels great in the hands.

Working at Boeing 12hrs a day, 7 days a week, I use the cheapy eBay extended batteries and covers and am able to stream solidly for at least 6hrs on each battery, which also includes the standard running apps in the background...SEVEN email, WhatsApp (which means I'm texting the GF in Dubai), TiKL and then the usual Sprint background services (voicemail, Market, etc that always run). I'm OC'ed at 1500mhz w/ MultiPicture Live Wallpaper running, always gettings texts and emails throughout the day. Point is, for $12 shipped for a battery w/ cover and a seperate wall charger for just the battery, I go through two batteries a day. One get close to dying around mid day, swap w/ the battery on the charger...rinse and repeat the next day

See that's the problem i could do all that on my regular 1500 mAh battery and at the end of the day i'm drained out if not a little closer. Why have all that extra stuff run when its not needed. I mean i used my phone for a little bit like texts and a few calls last week my battery was at 75% with 12Hrs and that was regular battery 1500 mAh. I'm hoping to get better results with this 3500 mAh one

I highly doubt that...when I was still stock, I could kill my battery within a few hours just playing Gameloft games. I find it incredibly hard to believe that you're streaming Pandora for 6+hrs and still have plenty of battery life left. As for what is or isn't needed, those are the things I use regularily...some would consider me a power user, always running overclocked, screen on full brightness when I use it, etc...so I'm guessing you're the type who is more concerned w/ battery life instead of performance. You admit you used your phone a little bit for texts, I use mine all the time for texts, both using Handcent for friends here in the U.S. and WhatsApp for my GF in Dubai...we have different battery needs, but I can guarantee your 1500mah isn't going to last longer than my 3500mah battery, generic or not.

Affordable Extended Battery

Does anyone know of a good, reliable extended battery that won't charge up the ass like the Mugen one does? (I'm sorry, but my Fascinate got a whole day on a $20 extended, $100 is unacceptable)

I got one from an Amazon seller for $12. I think it's 3,700 mah and I easily get a day out of it. However, it's stupid to use something that large and that adds weight and bulk to such a thin and light device. Especially when it's just as inexpensive and easy to simply buy 2 or 3 stock-sized batteries and a wall charger on eBay. I carry 1 or 2 spare batteries in my back pocket and don't even notice they're there. Why wouldn't you do this?
im currently testing this one.
on my 2nd cycle right now with 26% left im at:
21hs up time, 3hrs screen time about 1hr Pandora. been on 4G/3G the whole time with all my radios on but GPS.
it seems like im getting about 30% more life out of this batt vs the OEM. which seems to be getting me over a full day of use with out needing a charge.

MUGEN is a great brand, i know because i own their battery for my G2 and S2, you get what you paid for man. on test i found that the MUGEN outlast the SEIDO by 30-40 min screen on time under hard benching...now this data is of course base on S2 battery.
right now i am testing Hyperion, look for my post, i will give more update soon as i am on my 3rd full charge right now, will bench by the end of the week. I am in talking with MUGEN and Anker to give me a free sample to do a review on their battery,
id agree that "namebrand" batteries tend to yield better results.
in fact i would have personally preferred a Samsung Extended battery. but i cant see spending $100 one a 4000mAh battery from Mugen when a replacement 63Wh batt from Samsung for my M11x is $125.

Just throwing out counterpoints: It can be a hassle to have to shut down, take the phone out of a case (if you have one), swap batteries and put it back together, etc. With an extended, you don't miss a beat. Also, since the phone is thin and light, having a big, heavy battery isn't so bad -- makes it feel about the same as a lot of older phones.
That said, I'm using a stock battery, but have been considering a nice extended battery eventually.

These are my exact gripes with multiple batts.
Has anyone tried this battery/company in general? http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00757ERD2/ref=aw_ls_1_1?colid=3EACYNGZLF0SP&coliid=I2TMXT0T6H4NMI

I just don't see how any one can justify carrying extra batteries on a +600$ phone?
I mean the battery life is great already, not shabby by any means. I got 1d 11h with 3 hour screen on time on my Verizon phone this weekend on stock battery. But no call or hotspot like I do during my work day. But a ~2500mAh would probably last me the whole day even on a work day. I'd pay $45 for that with nice cover. (slightly thicker won't be such a bad thing on this phone)
I have few more days before I can return this phone to verizon for full purchase price of 600 bucks. But it's making me think twice about returning it because it's still 2x better than my rooted galaxy nexus.
Carrying extra batteries, at least for me, is zero hassle. They slip into my back left pants pocket and I never even notice they're there. Granted, I can see swapping batteries being somewhat of a hassle for some people but, even if you had an extra step in removing a protective case, how long could it really take? 1 or MAYBE 2 minutes? This phone shuts down quickly and boots up just as fast.
