Mugen 3200mAh battery for TP2 works in EVO

In case you need an extended battery now, I can report success with a Mugen 3200mAh unit that was intended for a Sprint Touch Pro 2. It cost $70 or 80 when I bought it around Christmas time from an eBay vendor (couldn't find it anywhere else online). Turns out the person I got it for had a Touch Pro 1 and this battery was not compatible so it's been sitting around the house ever since. I just popped it into my EVO 4G and it works perfectly as far as I can tell. Boots up normally and is charging as expected. Of course the back plate does not fit over the fat battery so I left that off and replaced the jelly case which stretches over the whole thing well enough.

Hero batteries work also.. a lot of HTC phone's use the same batteries. I have like 4 batteries for my evo lol

I bought these a while back.. worked great in my hero and work just as good in my evo. Plus now I have a standalone wall-charger. Took about a week or so to get here since its coming from Hong Kong.. But it was well worth the ~$10 for 2 batteries and a charger..

oh sweet mother of god i would feel all grossed out if i tried to handle my phone and it was all squishy at the parts that aren't touching the battery or the frame...
How's the battery life with the 3200? After doing some battery life tweaks and mods mine seems to almost be sufficent with the stocker, but it can always use some improvement.

If you don't mind sacrificing the case, I would try cutting a rectangle in it that would leave the protruding part of the battery exposed and let the case hug the phone the way its supposed to. If you cut it just right, the batt should stay in place since it looks like it has a bit of an edge for the case to grip on to.

I'M starting think I should just cancel my order for the 3500 battery and get me 2 1500. What do you guys think?

I'm using the battery from my tp2 as a spare, and carry it in the smaller pocket in my jeans,i don't even feel it there sometimes. With battery tweaks and charging it in my car (usually around 30 min at a time), I only have to occasionally change to the 2nd battery. If you are sensitive to bulk, then go for 2 batteries to split the load, otherwise a bigger battery is more convenient.

Given some of the results from BatteryBoss, I'd say that the battery isn't going to perform at a full 3500mAh. It will still be more than an OEM battery, sure, but I couldn't justify doubling the size of the phone to put it in. You might be better off getting another OEM battery, HTC seems to give about 99% of what they say.

if that site batteryboss is accurate then Mugen's batteries are crap. twice the size for 50% more juice. however, some anecdotal evidence to the contrary: after buying the wrong one, i bought another Mugen extended battery that does work for the TP1 and the recipient is very happy with it. reports that the 3200mAh it lasts about twice as long as the OEM battery.
probably smart to just get another HTC 1500mAh. after the latest update battery drain is much less of an issue anyway.

So can I just go in to a sprint store and ask for a hero battery For free?

The batteries + charger that was listed earlier in this thread work GREAT I've been using them for a few days now great freaking deal ($10 shippped)

I know Seidio makes a modified back plate that looks like it would fit this and according to battery boss this is the gold standard of extended batteries.

Also confirmed, the Mugen 4500mAh battery for Sprint Touch Pro 2 works in the Evo as expected. It's very... thick. About as thick as the Evo with a jelly sleeve on. Put together it's like the Evo has it's own little podium to stand on.
Assuming batteryboss tests are accurate then true capacity is closer to 75% or ~3375mAh. Main purpose for me is a power supply that can run GPS tracking apps like Cardio Trainer all day uninterrupted. Thickness not an issue since the whole package is tucked away in a Camelback.
Got it on eBay, I don't know where else to find them. Mugen is OOS and ridiculously expensive anyway. An alternative would be an external battery pack that supplies power through a USB port, then cable it to Evo.

I wonder if the new battery door will make the back flush by eliminating the small hump at the bottom of the phone? I love when Ebay is a source of new products. Who makes the beast?

Not sure on manufacturer yet but should be clear soon enough.

Here's a screenshot of my battery life in the last 36 hours. I still have 9% remaining, so keep in mind that I can get 2+ hours.

what settings are you using to get that?

Man that app is really kinda confusing to figure out. I mean you can by tinkering, but wow.

Dang man, I installed juice defender and it EFFED my phone! It became so laggy that I couldn't really use it at all it took me a full 15 minutes just to get into the app manager to uninstall it...

Not sure what else you may have done to your phone but I have Juice Defender (Ultimate) on my Vibrant and my Wife's Slide and it works great. Since I get a lot of mail, text, and IM's I still can't go a full day but I am getting about double the battery life I had before I started using it.

Dont know if i would be comfortable with a thicker phone... an extra 5MM or so is rather thick. and i wouldnt be able to put it in my nice case that just came in the mail.
I got a car charger and USB cable for my desk at work and i just charge it as i need it. Mostly since im new to android and always playing with the damn thing is the reason i run low.

Another vote for Juice Defender/Ultimate Juice. On the weekends, my phone lasts over 30 hours with moderate use. During the week at work is somewhat of a different story. Running BT, music, and having to deal with poor service inside (phone constantly going in and out of service), I'm still able to get about 12-14 hours.
Overall a great app though.
As far as a thicker battery.....meh. Would definitely have to see the size difference first. And if it still fit in a case.

I think that battery is BS. It wouldnt fit in the phone.

Besides the weight you'll also have trouble finding a case to hold it.
I'm going the route of constructing a back-up battery using 4 AA rechargeable batteries NiMH (4x 1.2V = 5V, with 2800mAh AAs).
Got one of these with leads, on/off switch and cover. You can also get a squarish holder if you don't like the side-by-side layout.
I'll solder it to a mini USB cable, then use a mini to micro converter so that I can also charge mini USB phones. Parts ~$5 in parts.
If you want a fully assembled 4x AA one you can buy it here and here. They also have 1x AA and 2x AA versions, but I don't know how well those work.
Found this 2400mAh battery for the Vibrant here. Price is $59 and the picture doesn't look like the actual product.

I was thinking about gettin a bigger battery but then i found 2x BATTERY+dock CHARGER FOR SAMSUNG GALAXY S Vibrant # on ebay for 10$ and i thought i could just throw a spare battery in my pocket just in case my phone run out.
But..Are theses batteries as good and reliable as original one or the ones that phone store sell? Have you guys experienced any battery that sell for that low cost?

Extended 3500mah ebay batteries?

Has anyone bought any of the 3500mah extended batteries off ebay? $30-40 seems really cheap for that. I know they're from china but can anyone tell me about how much more battery life ill actually get with one? Thanks

and the 3500Mah battery gives you 2.33x more battery over stock.

Yea, you can easily go a day on that battery. With some under/over clocking you can get 2 day+.

I got 3 days on a 1750 battery from BB that is the same size as the stock battery.
all depends on what you setup to do what.
also, the extended batteries do make your phone huge. At least to me it seems huge. Then again. I am from the iphone, and every iphone, specially the iphone 4, makes the evo look fat as it is.

Does it really? The one I have is nice and streamlined.

My $10 eBay 3500 w/back works fine. Has more juice than stock. Can get a full day out of it

you bought the 1750mah platinum series by seido at best buy? that one is lithium polymer, thats how they can get the 1750mah rating in the stock form factor. how is the battery? build quality, temperature while in use, heavy use, charging?

the temp is in the same ranges as my stock battery, if not slightly cooler to be honest. My phone would feel hot say while charging with the stock battery, my phone stays cool when charging with the seido battery.
as for build quality, it seems just fine, except the cover around the battery is a little loose, cannot say for sure if it is this battery as a whole or just mine, but it doesn't seem to cause any problems other than my OCD kicks in when I have to pull the battery out haha.

I got my eBay China 3500 mah battery 2 week ago and I love it. Problem is it took 2 months to get here since it came straight from China. But, hey it only cost $7 so I cant complain. My phone can finally last a full day under heavy use. Heavy as in constant YouTube and web browsing. Plus wifi, 4G and gps stays on all day. I plan to order another 7 dollar battery for backup.

I ordered a two pack, 2 batteries and two backs w/ external charger. There are two evo's in the house that use them and both work wonderful. I use mine all day under heavy use, mainly bluetooth music streming to my vehicle. I can go a day and half maybe, but I charge every night. My wife can use hers for three days with light use, facebook and crap. I spent $18 including shipping and the phone feels much better in hand, I prefer the extra heft. Here are a few pictures next to an american quarter for size (too lazy to grab other phone and swap batteries).
Hope this helps. It is very cheap, you should just do it, if you don't like it sell 'em on craigslist.

Review - Mugen Power 4500mAh Extended Battery (for HTC Thunderbolt)

I was recently given the opportunity to trial the Mugen Power 4500mAh battery. Ironically, the opportunity came up just was I was planning on flying cross country with my family, so I thought it would be an ideal time to test it out.
First things first, yes, it is big. Large. Huge. Yes, it is not “pretty” by any means and it takes away from the sleekness of the Thunderbolt. That is the only negative thing I can say.
The first day I turned it on at 2:00 AM Pacific time and it was NEVER turned off until 7:04 PM Pacific time. When I shut the phone off, it still had 50% of power left. Yes, you read that right, 50%. If you doubt my usage for the day, it was as follows:
I have four email accounts (one corporate account that uses Touchdown and three personal email addresses) that I monitor constantly. I am a heavy Facebook user as well. I also used Google Navigation to get to the airport (over an hour away from my house) and the same program to get to our destination on the east coast (one hour and 45 minutes away from the airport.). While on the plane I had it in airplane mode. It was used heavily by my children and I for games, etc. throughout the 5 hour flight. I was frankly amazed that it had that much power left after that full day. I NEVER plugged it in once during the trip.
I then switched over to the standard battery during our week on the east coast. I went through TWO standard batteries a day (EASILY) while using navigation, etc. I was lucky to make it through the entire day with those two batteries. There was a part of me that was longing for my “monster” to be put back on!
I used the Mugen battery again for the trip home. Reverse all of the previous information (Navigation, Airplane Mode for 5 ½ hours, MORE games and customization while in flight, etc.) and this time you can add in Mobile Hotspot and WiFi use once I was home. From 3:00 AM Pacific to 9 PM Pacific, I had 44% of the battery left. Again, I never plugged it in once.
Look, it is not pretty. It is big. It is beautiful though if you are on the road, on an airplane, on a long trip and/or are a power user and you don’t want to worry about plugging in, changing batteries, etc. This battery is now going to be readily available whenever I need that extra time or push from my Thunderbolt. Simply put, call it Beauty and the Beast. Check out Mugen Power Batteries on the web for more.

Why couldn't they just make the case like the 3500 it just looks stupid that way. That's pretty much the only reason I don't wanna buy it and the $100 price tag. They sell two 3500 and to covers along with a wall charger on eBay. For like $35 that sounds like a lot better deal.

That thing's $100? For $80, you can get a 16Ah (16000mAh) external battery on Amazon. It doesn't decrease the sleekness of the phone and will fit in a cargo pocket (and maybe even a fairly large hip pocket). That way, it still works when you switch phones. It has 5 USB ports, so you can charge lots of stuff. (No, not advertising, just demonstrating realistic specs. I know there are comparable models, this one is just the biggest one I found).

if i get that 4500mAh battery, will i be able to use the same silicone case or have to wait yet again for new cases to become available?

That thing would definitely give you the juice you need but, dang! That is just about ugly lol. I mean if you need that much battery it would be perfect though. If you don't want that much bulk there are several other options you could go with. I saw on Amazon where you can get 2 1400 mah batteries and a wall charger for the batteries for $20! All the reviews seemed positive too. Just another option I guess.

if you even click on this thread thats a good indication that a high mAh battery is what you want and need.
hell, i have 4 1500mAh & 1 1600mAh battery that didnt cut it for me. before i knew it, a battery was dying and had to go through the bother of powering down, opening up, replacing, powering back up.... and in no time repeat.
im using an extended right now and plan to never use the slims again. hell, i should sell all of mine.

I was the same way bro. I had two a siedo slim battery, standard HTC battery and 3 knock offs but just changing em was a hassle so i stuck with my 2750 extended battery and i couldn't be happier

That's the second thickest and ugliest battery and cover I've ever seen in my whole life. The one that REALLY takes the cake is the hung of crap Sedio sells for the EVO 3D. There has GOT to be a better way!

i doubt there will be a case for this unless Mugen themselves make it. there r cases for the regular extended battery cuz the battery is common n a lot of people have it. i doubt many people would have this huge thing so probably no cases will ever be released unless its by Mugen or a Mugen partner

One thing I always mention when defending my extended battery is the thickness-battery life trade-off and how, at the size of the HTC extended battery, it is worth the bulk for the change in battery life. I don't think i would be able to say the same for this. If I ever had to slap something that big on my Bolt it would have to last a week

How many people use their phone so much in 1 day that actually need an extended battery for the Note 2?

There were days I wanted one for my original Note. But the Note 2 has held up well. Even my days of heaviest use it's made it through so far with 10% to spare.
I'm not sure I'd want to carry a massive battery for this thing. But if someone came up with a back and battery that addded 500mah and was only say 2mm thicker overall and really didn't change the fit and style I'd probably go for it.

I always wuss out if I get down to 30% and end up recharging. That might be 1 or 2 days a week. Usually hours of gaming is about the only thing that'll kill my battery in a day. But, I really couldnt see the need for an extended battery on this device for everyday use.

Before owning this fantastic phone I started to worry when the battery indicator showed 25-30% charge. Now I smile knowing that I have at least 5 hours heavy use or about 12 hours standby remaining. If you want it to last even longer but still get email updates and social media updates get Easy Data Pro from the market. Its very good. Apart from the ugly widget that is.

It's easy to kill the battery when at a theme park, vacation, etc.. because you're not sitting next to a charger all day. Many suggest an extra battery but if you're on an extended phone call or in the middle of movie/game how do you change the battery without turning the phone off?

I don't really think being at an amusement park has anything to do with it. We're going 24 hours between charges, why would proximity to an ac adapter change things?

Sorry, guess you stare at the ground while your in line or waiting for anything. I haven't seen anyone get 24 hours screen on time but if I'm waiting most of the day somewhere than my screen is gonna be on. If you're next to an AC adapter than you can easily charge your phone right?

The last time I was at Universal Studios we got the express pass. Zero wait, and we completed the entire Harry Potter experience by 930 am. Had very little phone use the entire day, as we got to enjoy the entire park three times over.
Seperately, not a single person has ever said they have reached 24 hours of screen time. I regularly get 6+ hours tho. What we are getting is 24+ hours between charges.

Also, I would recommend an external battery. I personally use a new trent 5500mAh version. That way I can recharge the phone while on a call if ac power isnt available.

I have never been at an amusement park for 24 hours straight.
If you are on your phone 24 hours a day while on vacation, you're doing it wrong
Btw, I got almost 7 1/2 hours screen on time with 25% left... that's more than enough for me. My screenshots are in the thread for battery life.
That being said, I would rather have an extra regular battery and keep the phone thin, than have a thick phone and try to find a good looking case for it.

I'm actually curious about the extended side project for my classic romo. I want to run my romo and my gs2 on one of the 6500mah batteries for the note two. I hope they aren't crap, I'll probably get one after I get paid on the first, but won't be able to actually have anything to compare it to. I may drop it in my note just to see if it works with the bumper actually, but I have never needed to worry about battery charge. I have gone out on off nights with less than 30% battery life and been home hours later before getting a low battery warning.

I'm new to the Note II, actually it's in the mail. I'm a heavy extended battery user on every device I usually own. As the note II is new, I spent a few days looking at power.
My guess is in most cases it should last at least all day even with heavy use. None of us are usually very far from our chargers or spare batteries.

If it's really 3960 or 3100 who knows, but if it is 3960 then it should be more than enough for a full day of about anything.
I also looked at extended batteries requiring new backs. The thinnest one I could find, was 3-4mm at 6500 mah.

It took a lot of reading on all this, got the Motorola 2 amp car charger and so on, but power was an issue I looked at close for the note II.
Power doesn't seem to be issue from everything I have read, but it makes sense to know what power options are out there and if you need a backup battery anyway, get one with 860 more Mah. if you can.

How they get away with this is crazy, but at least people are catching it sooner than later.

if you are looking for an extended battery I would be patient and wait for powerskin to announce or shoot down if they are gonna make a case for this phone. Those who don't know powerskin is exactly what it sounds like its a case with a battery built into it. They made one for the GS2(TMO) and GS3 with the wild popularity of Note2 and it being on all four carriers it should be a slam dunk. The best part is they don't add much gerth to the other phones...

I've had it for several days now and am really happy with it. At first I was just going to use it as a backup for going on trips and such but now I think I will use it as my main battery. The back it comes with actually has a sort of faux metallic look to it and fits in really well with the phone. It doesn't look at all cheap like some of the other battery doors I looked at on the 6500 mAh ones.
I've had the phone running for nearly for days straight with some heavy use includs hours of calls and gaming until I finally needed to charge it.

Man, how much thicker/heavier does that make the phone? The main reason this phone isn't "too big" is because of its weight and how thin it is.
I got into the habit of using Mophie Juice packs on iPhones back in the day, and did extended batteries with large battery covers on my Nexus One and HTC Blunderbolt, but with most Androids I just pick up a spare battery and keep it in my wallet. They're thin enough to fit that way. With the newer Samsungs, a spare battery has been a waste of money; my Galaxy S3's spare is still in it's shrinkwrap months after purchase.

It's probably about twice as thick in the biggest part and it is a bit heavier, but the battery door is curved and tapers over to the battery part so it's not twice as thick on the whole thing, just the battery part, but it also doesn't abruptly pop out a square, it's tapered. I think it looks decent and not boxy at all.
I was concerned myself before getting it but I don't really mind the extra bulk and weight considering how much more battery life I get out of it.
I don't think I've seen any other phone have an 8500 mAh battery and considering that I personally don't think it adds too much extra bulk. Of course that's a YMMV sort of thing.
I'll see if I can grab another phone and post a picture of it later.

I'm just curious how accurate the capacity is. I have become very dubious that these odd/no name batteries have the capacity they say they do. For almost a third of the price you can get the 6500s as well.

I honestly can't speak to the accuracy of this 8500 mAh vs the 6500 ones being sold since I haven't tested the 6500 ones. I know it sounds trivial, but I do like the look of the 8500's door vs (the pictures) of the ones for the 6500 batteries.
Anyhow, here is a picture of the 8500 battery with the door on.

I see no need for any larger batteries. The stock one gives me well over a day. But to each their own.
