I wanted a robust mount that wouldn't eject my phone on rough roads. I also wanted to mount the phone in a way that it can be easily seen. I've seen a few other attempts at DIY mounts, I believe I've taken the most overkill approach
Turned out carbon fiber is the best way to do this. This is my first carbon fiber project, so excuse the non-sexyness of it. I'll probably make a fully composite pretty mount next time.
[PHOTOS + LINK TO WRITEUP WOULD GO HERE]
For anybody interested, I made a blog post with complete details, but I can't post the link(I'm new here). I can't post photos either
You can see it at taras-log dot blogspot dot com. Sorry for inconvenience. I'm so proud of having a custom shape-hugging mount for the Vibrant, I had to share this
I'd definately like to see this as I mountain bike often

Hey guys, im in the market for a windshield mount for my EVO, and most of the ones I have seen on amazon have pretty bad reviews. What are some good ones you guys can recommend that can also work in landscape mode, and only on the windshield. Preferably with a pretty long neck as my windshield is a bit far. I looked through a few pages but didnt see much. Thanks!
There is a Kensington iphone, I know..it works, that people were raving about here that I purchased. For the price it is very good and 1/3 cheaper then the official Evo dock sold at Sprint stores.. Do some legwork and look in this section for the thread.

Search for my thread called 'Low profile car mount' and you'll find a good one.

Arkon Mega Clip all the way (+ Pro Fit VSM mounts)
best way to go in my opinion is the Arkon Mega Clip
The guys there are incredibly helpful (Spoke w a sales guy called Mark who was great), products are great, and they also provide VSMs (vehicle specific mounts) if you dont want the clip/suction cup connection. VSMs look much more clean in the car in my opinion. Not crazy expensive either.
They source their VSM mounts from a company called Pro Fit. Check their website out as well to see all the mounts they have. My Mazda 3 2010 wasnt supported according to their site, but again, very helpful guy called Ryan (he's the guy who actually installs the clips and takes pictures for the installation instructions...amongst other things Im sure) told me that it actually was, they just hadn't had a chance to update their site yet.
Hope this info helps someone.

Indeed... The Kingston was originally created for the iPhone/iTouch but works just perfect for us EVO users. HERE is my thread where you can see several reviews, one in the first post and one in THIS post. The goosneck is super strong and doesn't move while driving and at the same time when you need to adjust it can be done so with a little effort. That's a good thing as the gooseneck should be very stiff. In fact, so far it's the best I've seen to date. If I had to choose an alternative it would most likely be the HTC's OEM vehicle mount. Kind of pricey but if nothing else works for you. The only drawback I see of the HTC mount is it doesn't have a gooseneck, instead it has a small stem. This doesn't work out to well if your windshield has a very deep slope to it as the mount would be sitting too far back and you would have to squint to see your route or terrain on your map.
AMAZON has it selling for $11.99 right now. I haven't seen a better deal on anything else pertaining to a car mount that is low profile for the EVO.
i have been using a rocketfish GPS mount i got at best buy it has acctually been working really well. It fits the evo with any case has nice rubber grips ont he sides where it clamps and has to little feet that turn out to hold the "bottom" yuo can use in landscape or portrait and so far the suction cup has help on very well for me. the phone hasnt budged even going over train tracks and pot holes.
cost like 20$ they have them over by the GPS units
So I saw there was a thread about bike mounts and I have been searching through Amazon trying to find one for my Hybrid road/mountain bike.
I want to get some feedback from those who have purchased a bike mount for their phone and hear what problems, if any, that you have come across while using them. Also what is the best one in your experience.

I would also be interested in a bike mount. My cousin made a mount for his PSP with a case and some other stuff, I just forget how. An actual mount would be great though.
You can check the post I made yesterday with pictures of the mount I found on amazon. Some may consider it a little pricey but I feel the build quality is well worth the price.

I just ran across this while looking for anything interesting that would work with extended bulging batteries (nothing really to see) but I have a trident brand aegis case for my sprint sph-d710 that I dearly love - it has survived me and my 7 year old who plays games on it and drops it frequently - here are links to what I have, and to a newer Kraken A.M.S. case they have with a bike mount and camera mount attachment.
Ugh, won't let me link outside so you'll have to copy and paste (I'm not affiliated, just haven't posted enough to be able to paste links apparently)

check amazon, they have everything.
Found some on E-Bay, will probably buy one tomorrow...
Unable to post outside links and I an still under 10 post. But go to E-Bay and do a search for Bike Mount Samsung...
Working on my old car today I noticed that the old Garmin Nuvi 200 and my GS3 were the same width when sitting next to each other on the dash.
So I tried the GS3 in the mount and it snaps right in like it was designed to!
Just thought I would share! These mounts are all over the place in all kinds of forms..CHEAP!!
.....but since I have never posted before I can't post links or pictures
I'll have to give this a shot. I wonder if it would fit with other cases on there. Now I just need to find where I put my mount. Thanks for the heads up!
...at this rate of posting it will take me 30 years to be able to post a picture
Which Nuvi are you talking about? Went searching and like you said there are many...but also many different sizes...so curious which Nuvi.
Mine is a Nuvi 200w.
how hard is it to post some pictures?

Until he gets past 10 posts it will be VERY hard.
But I bet he gets to 10 posts in NO time...heck I have only been at it here for 4 days...and they are racking up fast!
I took pictures and video to post. Had them all in the original post but had to delete them back but.
The video is on YouTube under the same screen name.
.....and as a less than ten post user you can only make one post every 5 minutes. Seriously tight rules here.

Haha....ya. obviously I've been here since 09, just don't post and mostly lurk. Though it would be nice to get the post count up to the point where I can make a real post with links and images and such.
Thank you, OP.
I found that this works well with the Incipio Silcrilic. I pulled the outer poly case off, and the silicone inner layer made a great fit in the Nuvi mount.
Sweet :good:
Hey guys,
since i have my xoom i use it while im cooking to have some recipe pages on and lookout for the perfect amount of milk for the ice cream (sandwich)
but always i have to put the xoom from the one side to the other, so i decided to mount it in my kitchen, at first i was looking vor a vesa case but i didn't found anything. also iths not flexible enough.
so after googling i found a solid gooseneck and that was the solution. buy a gooseneck mount one side on the work plate and the other side on the xoom.
the next part was how to figure out how i can mount the xoom onto the gooseneck.
but i think pictures say more than thousand words.
what do you think about this solution?
Nice, looks like a clean installation.
JEALOUS!!!!

I have searched a lot about car holders, especially for tablet ones. The problem is that it's hard to find good reviews on the internet and it's even harder to find out how stable or shaky the given holder is while driving, which is exactly the most important thing to me, also it should be universal. Here are some variants:
1. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Exogear-E...tem1c34c9bf1b&clk_rvr_id=520752103178&afsrc=1
2. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/XENOMIX-S...tem41768b0d4e&clk_rvr_id=520748726197&afsrc=1
3. http://www.ikross.com/IKHD12-Car-Dashboard-Mount-Holder-iPad-/-Tablet#
4. http://www.iottie.com/Product/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=970&ProductType=321
5. http://www.arkon.com/tablet-accessories/tablet-quick-release-sticky-dash-mount.html
I assume that in any case I will add some kind of shock absorbing material at needed places to reduce vibrations. I would appreciate any opinion from others, maybe someone has got an experience on these things?
Some reviews:
Exogear/XENOMIX/Kropsson:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=juK-v8YCI-k
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9FDNxdrTYkg
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FoGJnpwee08
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XbLiNaGT9W4
Iottie/Ikross:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YJs6Oh0udCc
Arkon:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FkgffRvAM2c
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FhGP6_h91io
Arkon has really specialized equipment. Of course a full dock holder type is the best, but those are either expensive or not universal.
I guess I already replied to your question in AndroidForums (where you posted under Klaidonis, and I post under twister6) I'm active in both communities and mirror my reviews. So, just check out my reviews (either from the link I provided to you in AF or in my sig file here). You might want to try a few and see which one you like better?

Thanks a lot!
I bought that for my son's nexus 10:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0072LATE2/
Nothing to say about it except that it does the job perfectly. You can easily move it from one row of seats to another, even to another car. Attaching or detaching it takes just a few seconds. It's solid and doesn't shake when driving.

That headrest mount is AWESOME!!! I reviewed Slim Grip Ultra with that headrest extension here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2174449
Just in general, I reviewed a lot of car mounts (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2192333) and always look at overall pictures of quality and support, and it always narrows down to Arkon. Plus, for a lot of their latest products they have lifetime replacement policy if anything breaks - they will replace it at their own cost (that company been around for 25 years).

Thanks for the link. And I agree about Arkon: when searching for mounts I often end up choosing their stuff.
I recently bought an Arkon visor mount which I think is a nice alternative to the usual dash/windshield mount. Are you interested in me adding a review of it to your thread? I don't seem to find anything similar there.
