poor connectivity - Defy General

Hi,
just wanted to know how the connectivity is with other defy's. I don't know if connectivity is the right word. I often lose connection with my defy. Then i only can make emergency calls. When I'm at work i have no connection. A co- worker have a xperia, he has connection.
I'm in Germany and my Provider is o2. Before i had T-mobile Germany with the same Problem. My co- worker has o2 too.
I think it was better before i flashed a custom rom

anybody???
I'm in thane.... using Airtel. Have had no issues with network reception with the Uni. Have u accidently set the phone band to PCS 1900?
If one switches to PCS 1900 then the handset will never search for Netwrok. There could b issue with the internal antenna.Search the forum, how to fix the antena for better reception or go to the nearest service center to fix the issue.
Me too, using JASJAR on Airtel more than a year...no such serious issues
I am also using Universal on Airtel Network without anyproblems.
Hi, check out my experience, I think you are suffering the same thing I did:

The best way is to get a complete GSM antenna like I did.
Best regards!

Asus P525 GPRS problem

Hello,
I have a P525 but use it on the TMobile US network. The phone works perfectly but for the life of me I can't get the phone to see the GPRS network. It's not the GPRS settings, it's that the phone doesn't even recognize that GPRS is available. No 'G' shows up in the top task bar.
I got my unit from Australia if that makes any difference which I don't think it should. TMobile Customer Care has no clue why I'm having the problem I'm having and ASUS Australia support couldn't help either as they don't know the TMobile network and ASUS USA support wouldn't give me the time of day since that phone isn't sold in the US. Been racking my brain trying to find an answer. Any idea in solving this problem would be appreciated. It's as if the GPRS modem/radio isn't on or something.
Thanks,
Ho'okani

Best Radio ROM for roaming?

My question is, when you are overseas using your local providers roaming options to still use your phone, should you use a radio that works best on the network in the country you are visiting or that works best on your home network?
I have tried 1.46.00.11 and 1.50.08.11 on my New Zealand Vodafone network and neither support incoming calls but other radio functionality works fine (also noted here). So I stick with good old trusty 1.38.00.11.
When I go to Japan next week I want this still to work so I am hesitant to put the "leading" radio in the poll on as I may not be able to receive calls.
I will be using SoftBank in Japan, but I will be receiving calls redirected from Vodafone. I'll take a couple of radio ROMS on my card to flash if need be while I'm over there, but I was curious if anyone knew exactly what the biggest influence is, your location and network, or the calling users location and network?
Hey Julz, off to Japan huh? Fascinating place, make sure you check out Akihabara if you are in Tokyo...
I was in Korea a month or so ago and could get my P3600 to connect to their 3G network (using the 1.38 radio), couldn't make any calls but that turned out to be a Vodafone problem. Seems that VFNZ don't have a roaming agreement for their 3G network...
So I'm guessing you should be ok with the 1.38 radio.
Only other place I've roamed with the P3600 so far has been Fiji, worked perfectly there with the 1.38 radio.
Thanks Ant
Yes, this will be visit number 4 and yes I love Akihabara!! Will see if I can pick up a dirt cheap 8GB MicroSDHC down the alleyways.
NZVF confirms their 3G agreements with a couple of Japanese carriers, so it sounds like I should be ok.
Just thought it was an interesting question to chuck into the mix regarding favourite Radio ROM's to see if people change their radio when travelling

Htc desire connection trouble

I have a HTC desire which i bought off a friend, it was locked to 3G until i unlocked it from there company so that i can use my O2 pay monthly sim card.
First i knew that i will have problems setting up my MMS and Web Bolt Ons, in the end i managed to get them both working on my phone, now i have another serious issue,
I am not sure if everyone gets the same problem but i get Very Low reception when inside a building or office, when my Sony erricson w500 gets full reception , and my Webconnection is stuck on H and i have never got the 3G or all the other network gprs signals,
So can anyone help me in getting me them other Signals other then the H and rarely getting the E connection, and why i get low reception ?
Do i need a firm ware update or what ??
I have read aroudn the Net and some people say i might need to update my sim to a 3G web connection Sim , even thou mine is bought this year january?
and what is the differece if i left my mobile network on O2-uk other then the O2-uk(3G)
And my last question is what connection do i leave it on GSM.WCDMA AUTO which is what it is on now or WCDMA only ?

[Q] unlocking Telstra to Optus

I have an Aussie Telstra Desire and in their wisdom my company has changed carrier to Optus. So my phone will make/receive calls but i have no internet connectivity so I cannot receive emails etc. (apart from connecting to my home wifi).
Can I fix this? I read somewhere that the Telstra Desires are optimised for the Next G network and that optus operates at a different frequency. HELP.
Rex
You should be contacting them instead and seeing what they say. Whe someone buys someone out, its up to the new company to make sure everything is working for ever phone. Ring them.
