Hi guys. I'm new to the android community. I just want to know. Is unrevoked able to root a desire z?
Someone please clarify my doubt.
Thx

Nope. Unless they have a link to it on their site like they do for the Evo, Incredible, etc. it won't work.
There aren't any reliable 1-click methods for the G2/DZ because its a bit harder to gain root access from the way HTC designed it.
There are many step-by-step tutorials in the dev section though that are easy enough to follow.
I see. how about visionary+

Works fine for temprooting. I wouldn't trust it for perm rooting as its shown to not always work properly and corrupt some file systems it shouldn't be messing with.
The step-by-step method outlined in the wiki is very easy. You only need your phone and a computer to put a few files on your SDcard, no ADB required anymore it can be done from terminal emulator on the phone itself.

Here you go: G2/DZ Wiki.

Root using unrevoked
S-off using iso from alvpharev.nl
I think that a good Rom is ownheredesirehd
Just Google how to do it all or look on here, there are so many forums for everything that there's no point in explaining it all,
If you have any questions that you can't find a forum for, just reply to this

Who knows how to create a root method for gb incredible
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
Dude, if it existed there wouldn't be new threads asking. The Unrevoked team would be the ones coming out with it, assuming they will root the Inc 2.3.
Bottom line, the OTA has been taken, root added, and flashable zip has been made in the Development forums. It's the same exact thing, so if you're unrooted and S-ON you're out of luck. Period. No flashing back, no flashing recovery, no root as of now. You're stuck on stock 2.3.

I'm sure they're already aware of GB being out, its just up to them if they want to try to get root access.
Sent from my Droid Incredible running some random CM7 nightly.
Correct, they are under no obligation to provide root access, it is merely up to them if they want to pursue it. I know that they've teamed up with AlphaRev to work on root and S-OFF for the newer phones coming out.
I don't know what to tell you as far as contacting them. They do have a website, so try that. Otherwise, anyone who accepted the 2.3 OTA with S-ON is out of luck.

I hope not. One would think that if he rooted, he would know about Unrevoked. Chances are, if he could root, he'd be here then asking if his phone's bricked.
MODS, this thread should be closed in my opinion.

I completely agree and also with Loonatik. If this guy doesn't have a language barrier then he is a complete idiot. And his tone from all his post make him sound very impatient kind of as if here were doing us a favor.
If I've helped you, hit the thanks button!
I don't see it happening...it would involve the unrevoked crew to have an s-on unrooted incredible with
GB and unless someone donated, pulled some insurance trick(no bueno) or there was a dev out there with said inc(chances are most if not all don't or don't care) the chances are slim to none
Does anyone have a nand backup of an Orange UK ROM? My Phone is a new-ish desire (PVT4) with a amoled screen.
I need to send the phone back for warranty work but didn't backup the default ROM and am unable to find a stock orange nand to restore. ( I did find one but the phone would not boot up, just sat at the HTC logo screen )
Hope someone can help me
Thanks.

I know there are no RUUs, That's why I asked for a rom backup. If anyone has an Orange rom (rooted or not) then could you please do a backup using clockwork or RA and post a link.
Thanks
You don't need it. Just flash a wwe ruu. Htc service centre won't have a problem with it. I've sent at least 5 handsets for repair this way.

The 2.3.3 from HTCdev.com is definitely warranty covered. They do state that 2.2 wwe aren't covered unless you should be on that so theres a risk there, but not with 2.3

Hi mate.
I been thinking about sending my desire back for a while as its got an overheating problem, I'm just waiting till closer to the end of my warrenty.
There is a guide on xda somewhere, I'll try and find the link, basically someone uploaded a eclair image, then you update the official froyo update over the top and trouble are back to stock.
Its takes some work to find it but it is out there. I saved the files somewhere so I'll look around but use Google and you can find it.

His phone is slcd. This will brick it. Also apparently it doesn't work any more. Not that it matters as its no longer required
Like already stated just flash 2.3.3 as its covered by warranty.

Hello,
I want a tutorial to put a desire hd s-on
thank you
First why do you S-ON? And Your best bet to get S-ON is to use the advanced ace hack kit. You can download for this site http://tau.shadowchild.nl/attn1/
Don't forget to read the effen manual.

You shouldn't be redistributing his work without his permission. Just saying. He could have Googled to find that answer. There was a reason it was taken off this site and it should stay off. Please remove the link.

Sorry to say that, but if you can’t use the search function, you should probably not be trying to root your phone

I think a lot of your information is outdated, for example Visionary is extremely outdated for most of the firmwares that's out now. The method outlined in the XDA Wiki as well as the Cyanogenmod Wiki is proven to work without fail (with the assumption that the end user actually follows the instructions to the letter).
The one click method tends to have problems and ends up in here for help, and far as hearing about it, normally hear complaints about their phone being bricked and how to fix it, they don't go into details exactly on "how" they bricked it, just that they whine and whine to unbrick it.
PS: I wish there was a way to remove an accidental thanks.
Well true there are some bad one click softs out there thats why i recommended what i have tried without problems........the fact that some are bad does not make dem all bad if only we bring up those that have bricked phones and those that helped cos not anybody has it easy with the XDA method by the way i recommend what i have tried so trust me what will i get by bricking someones phone (same module and and it worked)
PS:giving back your thanks.....

But of course with lack of information (ie: what phone did you have, what firmware was it at, was it originally Froyo, etc?), people attempting to do the same tends to cause problems.
Though in my opinion, if you can't handle the method outlined in the XDA wiki (which will work with any version of the phone, including instructions for making a gold card), then it's probably not the best idea to even attempt having a rooted phone.
