This has happened to me a couple of times, but not consistently. I just removed my card, blew on it and blew into the slot and reinserted it. Works fine. Try that, sometimes there's just dust or lint in there. I also assume you've rebooted your phone?

[Q] G2 extended battery problem

I bought an extended red battery, and it was working fine until today. I dropped my phone and now the battery will only work for a little bit and then the phone will shut off and not turn back on.
The original battery works fine, no problems. So my question is could my dropping of the phone have done something to the extended battery?
Did you peel the red sticker off? If you did then what's happening is the battery is making contact with the metal sd card holder and shorting your phone. An easy fix, which was already posted in another thread, is to simply put a piece tape on the battery in the same spot where it would normally touch the sd card holder and you should be good to go.

Probably dropping of the phone Idk but I dropped my phone about three days ago and after that it would not connect to signal so I restored to normal and it started to get signal later on but now it is really weak where I would of gotten full bars like my house now I only get 2 bars usually.

Thanks so much that fixed it.

[Q] Screen timeout not working and sim card not going in all the way?

For some reason when I get a text message my screen will only dim after a short while, it never turns off. I have the timeout set to 15 seconds in settings.
Also, I don't know if its supposed to be this way but the sim card does not go in the side of the phone completely for me like the sd card does. Basically when I close the little cover for the sd card and sim card it pushes in the sim card enough for the phone to read it.
I've already had an issue where I had the phone bounce in my pocket, the little cover for the sd card and sim card got loose, and the sim card moved out so my phone restarted with no sim until I pushed the cover back in.
This is for AT&T by the way.

For the sim card, I had a problem with it not being in there well when I got it from AT&T. I put it in myself later using something thin to push it in and make sure it got pushed in all the way. I've had absolutely no problems yet. Hopefully that continues.
This sim card has to pushed in quite far for the "click" until its completely seated. I had to use a paper clip to push it in enough. Try that.
The paper clip trick worked, thanks guys .

Ditto. I had to offer push my sim card in further when I got home, too. After it did, it locked in place as expected.

[Q] dropped phone, now no service

after dropping my phone it was fine for a while (got a couple phone calls) and then it lost connection to the network. t-mobile troubleshot and couldnt help. i can use wifi calling fine everything else works (except screen is cracked and black - to troubleshoot i opened up my phone and gf's phone and plugged her screen into my phone) but i got a circle with a line thru it in the status bar. no data, no bars.
what broke (besides the god forsaken screen - see other post on that: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2112328)?
i've factory reset the phone and opened it up, poked around, unplugged/replugged the antenna.
Have you tried odining back to stock?

Lol it is stock
Maybe your antennae disconnected from the board.
I can't use WiFi on my g2 after my gf dropped it.
Figured the WiFi antennae disconnected from the board.
A solder gun could fix it.
Or sending it to Samsung

i dont think so, if its happened then wifi calling will not working too.

Doesnt help you voided both of yours and your gf phone by opening them up. Something internally broke im guessing.

warranty? lol i voided my warranty when i shattered my phone on the concrete.
sim card has been in and out several times. no sim card error, and as stated, wifi calling would not work if it was a sim card issue. sim card works fine in another phone.
as i said i unplugged and replugged the antenna (the long wire that goes from the the lower right to the upper right along the edge of the case when looking from the back.)
does anyone know what PRECISELY this is what it does? is this just the radio antenna for calls and data? is the wifi a separate component? and how else might this part have failed? the solder joints look good. i dont think the gf wants me removing her antenna to try it out and of course i would hate to damage her phone.
it really does seem like it's just an antenna issue...
Does anyone think that there is any possibility that having the rear panel removed (not the very outside cover but under that, the one that has screws) has any impact on the phone's ability to connect? there are a few little metal contact points on the plastic panel that touch contact points on the board. what do these do?

[Help] Strange Happenings

I woke up this morning to the strangest sound, my phone was sitting on the nightstand going in and out of car mode super fast. It would open, then close, then open again without recognizing any of my touch commands... and I had 4 or 5 car mode icons in my notification tray. So I pulled the battery and wiped cache and dalvik, rebooted and all seemed ok, except it keeps going into dock mode on its own (I don't own a dock and have never had occasion to use this mode). Another batt pull, wipe etc renders the same results.
I'm rooted running clean rom and twrp (latest), and I haven't installed any apps or anything in quite a while.
Any ideas.

Never heard of that happening. .
Do a full wipe. .and a fresh full install. ..you might have a bad download.
Mac
On my note1 I had a holster with a magnet in the flap that made it go into car mode, other than that I have no idea.
I see this happens alot with evo's (I work for sprint) sounds like some liquid damage on the charging port, tricking the phone into thinking its on a car dock.

hey, you never know now a days what kind of krap gets onto your phone without your knowledge...
Problem seems to have gone away on its own, will keep an eye on it for now...
Thanks for all the suggestions!

Actually now that I recall, this episode was preceded by me dropping my phone about 3 inches onto carpet, in its case. I don't know how this happened but if water can trick in into thinking its in a dock maybe a slight impact could do the same??

your battery or your sim card might be loose. you might want to open it up and re-seat things

GSIV gets warm while charging - SD Card?

I noticed my GSIV was getting warm while charging... I put it side by side with my girls GSIII, and hers was nice and cool.
I decided to take out the SD Card, and viola! My phone is cold again.
I'm thinking this could be cause by the SD Card itself.
Anyone else has this issue while charging?
I'm using a SanDisk Ultra 32GB Class 10
Same here. It's in the general area of the camera

Have the same card but doesn't get that warm while charging that I have noticed .
yea, it turned out to be my SD Card. I took it out and it charges nicely.
I also decided to take it out and my battery life went UP UP UP.
