I need help , I'm running Myns Fls5. The 3g works good but the 4g connects but never loads pages it always get stuck. I've installed adfree and updated the radios. I love the look and feel of this Rom but the 4g not working is a deal breaker for me . Anyone had this problem ?

You have installed AdFree. I don't know what you have done subsequently, but here are the fixes needed:
1. Revert to default hosts file in AdFree.
2. Change "Custom IP" so it is not 127.0.0.1. I personally use 127.0.0.2 and it works fine.
3. Download updated hosts file.
4. Reboot the phone. (Possibly not necessary, but is good for troubleshooting sake).
If you follow all three steps, it should fix the 4G page loading problem.

Thanks for the info. It still gets stuck loading . My friend has iPhone and I let him tether from my evo using 4g and his pages were loading fine .

Hmm. Maybe try clearing cache and data from your browser app? Then update profile and prl, then reboot and see if it works. This only happens on 4g? Browser works fine on WiFi and 3g?

I have no clue what it is. I've installed rls5 again and no luck . WiFi and 3g work great.4g connects and I've ran a speed test it pretty fast, but when I try to surf the web it gets stuck. Some pages load but its not fast like when the stock browser was installed . Thanks for the help

I just flashed kings ultra and its pretty snappy. The 4g worked when connected. I've noticed that I got better 4g connection with myns but it never loaded pages . I live in a bad 4g neighborhood so ill see tomorrow if the 4g holds up in stronger areas . Thanks for the help

if you want FroYo and working wifi tether, I would highly recommend the TeamFenix 1.7.1. I have been using it since it came out, it is very stable. with me being a trucker i use the tether almost everyday. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=749312

am using the newest of the Dopio 806 kernels
i have tried both the regular release of wi-fi teather (2.0.1 I believe) as well as the pre build that has worked with all the other roms released for the slide, the one reference in the developers section. Both will install and run set-up the first time I open them, but as soon as I click to start tethering my phone reboots.
I do remember that I had to install a different SU from one of eugenes releases to get wi-fi tether working for one of the other roms....but for the life of me I can't remember how I installed just that SU without installing the whole rom. I'm not a developer or even a decently smart guy if you can't tell
Barnacle is an open source wifi tether app in the market that works on windows and Ubuntu. When you start the app, you'll need to hit menu>settings and then check "Skip wpa_supplicant" for it to work. It may take a couple of tries to get it to work. But it works.

I have not tried CM6 yet, but was having problems with stock.
I installed wireless_tether_2_0_5-pre6.apk and all is well for the stock android at least.
wireless_tether_2_0_5-pre8.apk will say no internet, but wireless_tether_2_0_5-pre6.apk connects just fine. Could be a similar thing with CM6?

It's working for me. But, like I said, it may take a couple tries. This does seem to be a pretty "finicky" app. For instance, I fired up Windows and tried to connect to barnacle and the pc said it failed to connect and barnacle disappeared from the list. I hit the "Associate" button in the app tried to connect again after it came back on the list, then it worked. I'm using it right now.
Maybe try turning off your firewall for a minute? Or make it a trusted network?

Thank you...not to be a pain, but once I download it to my computer, what do I do? I think it has something to do with pushing...but I am awful with loading things onto my phone.
If you Google wireless tether for Android from your phones browser,then click the downloads link for the project hosting on Google code,you can download straight to your phone.There are a bunch of different versions and not all will work with all kernels.After downloading,your phone will ask if you want to install.I'm using the pre8 version with netarchy's 4.1.8 kernel on fresh 3.1.0.1 and it works fine.

It has app2sd, wifi tether working, wifi working, flash in browser, swype, live wallpaper, Caps and FN lights working, genius button working and I believe that's about it... so does anyone know if it exists? Or know of a rom that is really close?

Chiefz OTA 135 whatever. It's 2.1, but it has all you ask for.
You'll have to partition your SD with EXT, but yeah. Most all 2.1 roms work perfectly.
The latest cyanogen nightly has all of that too. There's no flash for our phones though no matter what ROM you use.

Genius only works on stock as far as I could tell. 2.1 has Flash lite. Bluetooth also works perfectly.

Yeah genius only work on stock. On cm6.1 it just opens a voice search. But the cpas/fn lights work in 6.1, they didn't in 6.0. CR_mod is probably the rom you're looking for. Its basically stock rom with the ota update and with root and wifi tether. I used it for a bit, was pretty fast, but sms was glitching for me, it was sending up to like 15 copies of each message, so I hopped back onto cyanogenmod.

Arayray has patched the genius app to work on 2.2 though the actual genius button is still mapped to search but I think that is fixable

Yea the only thing wrong with the CR_Mod though is that for some reason my wifi and wireless tether don't work and from what I've read they are supposed to work. Would installing a new kernel fix it? If so where do I get it from and how do I install it? Would it be just like a zip file/rom? Oh and it doesn't have apps2sd but I can partition my sd card once I get that other stuff working.

Worked fine for me, maybe you should try the newest version 2.0.5 pre13 the one that comes with CR_MOD is 2.0.2. There's also an app that was released that allows you to custom map the genius button (mines set for maps) Also, 2.0.5 pre13 works for CyanogenMod 6.1.

Unless you know how to edit the files necessary to boot properly using v4.0, I would use v3.5. All you lose is the last level, 864 mhz, you still get up to 844 mhz. I only set my max to 844 anyway, 864 was unstable for me. 3.5 boots just fine without editing files, way simpler. So yeah there you go haha

There is some info on editing the 00banner file in the thread if 4.0 is the one anyone wants to use. Just insert this into the file on it's own line (if yours says 'end' insert it before that).

Anyone know what happened I switched from dj29 today I was running the hotspot all the time using it for wireless routing. Once I odined the dk17 modem(specifically the modem.bin) and quantum1.5 rom the hotspot no longer would activate without shutting off data. Any ideas why.

Use Wireless Tether for Root Users from the market in the meantime. It's free and works good for me.

No and if someone was they would have posted something. Honestly this looks like an isolated problem. I suggest trying wireless tether like mentioned above or try reflashing the rom.

i dont think this is an isolated problem, i have the same issue that the sprint hotspot shuts off data in the DK17 rom as many others do. I do believe in the Viper rom is has been fixed. hopefully someone will port that fix over to the other froyo roms we are using.

Are you talking about mobileAP or the hotspot app? I believe those are two separate things, someone correct me if I'm wrong. But if that's the case that maybe why people don't have an answer for you.

Not sure if this was resolved, but thought I would chime in since I had the same problem with Nebula ROM 1.0.6 (running DK17). I just got a Xoom wifi and was planning on being able to go full mobile via my Epic 4G but discovered that the Wifi hotspot isn't working on my ROM (I love everything else about it and wanted to keep it). Unfortunately the current version of wifi tether from the market failed also.
I downloaded this version of wifi tether, which supports Infrastructure Mode (the XOOM won't do Ad-Hoc yet, so I need this). Hope this helps someone...it works great for me with the new Xoom and Nebula ROM on DK17.

Try enabling encryption, access control, and routing fix. That's what worked for me... Also I used an older version... I think I'm running 3.1 beta7... Oh and try reinstalling the binaries.

There are several quirks to it. One thing you might try is making sure the phone screen is on when trying to connect. On mine if it goes out before its connected, it won't work...

Driver loading issues....
I'm having some loading trouble with WiFi Tether, hoping y'all can help out instead of me making a new thread. I'm rooted without CWM running the stock EK02 rom.
When I launch WiFI Tether it's granted SU but fails to load corretly. This is what I get from the log:
Loading WiFi driver .......FAILED
Stopping Driver.............DONE
Loading WiFi firmware....DONE
Starting Driver..............DONE
Configuring Softap.........FAILED
Starting softap..............FAILED
Activating WiFi interface.FAILED
Enabling Routing Fix.......DONE
Enabling NAT Rules........DONE
Enabling IP Forwarding...DONE
Enabling Access Control..DONE
Tethering now running....DONE
Any thoughts on how to get this running correctly?

If you watch this video, he explains some of the differences and things you can do regarding wifi tethering.

The built in native Sprint hotspot app is the best, and a lot of custom ROM's include the hack for that which allows you to use that app for free. The is also a mod for it for those with a stock/rooted phone I believe.
