It has app2sd, wifi tether working, wifi working, flash in browser, swype, live wallpaper, Caps and FN lights working, genius button working and I believe that's about it... so does anyone know if it exists? Or know of a rom that is really close?

Chiefz OTA 135 whatever. It's 2.1, but it has all you ask for.
You'll have to partition your SD with EXT, but yeah. Most all 2.1 roms work perfectly.
The latest cyanogen nightly has all of that too. There's no flash for our phones though no matter what ROM you use.

Genius only works on stock as far as I could tell. 2.1 has Flash lite. Bluetooth also works perfectly.

Yeah genius only work on stock. On cm6.1 it just opens a voice search. But the cpas/fn lights work in 6.1, they didn't in 6.0. CR_mod is probably the rom you're looking for. Its basically stock rom with the ota update and with root and wifi tether. I used it for a bit, was pretty fast, but sms was glitching for me, it was sending up to like 15 copies of each message, so I hopped back onto cyanogenmod.

Arayray has patched the genius app to work on 2.2 though the actual genius button is still mapped to search but I think that is fixable

Yea the only thing wrong with the CR_Mod though is that for some reason my wifi and wireless tether don't work and from what I've read they are supposed to work. Would installing a new kernel fix it? If so where do I get it from and how do I install it? Would it be just like a zip file/rom? Oh and it doesn't have apps2sd but I can partition my sd card once I get that other stuff working.

Worked fine for me, maybe you should try the newest version 2.0.5 pre13 the one that comes with CR_MOD is 2.0.2. There's also an app that was released that allows you to custom map the genius button (mines set for maps) Also, 2.0.5 pre13 works for CyanogenMod 6.1.

Yeah worked fine for me as well, I never actually tried the tether but wifi itself worked fine. You can get dumfuq's oc kernel from the dev section I'm sure, id grab it for you but I'm a bit tired and lazy, just search it down

Unless you know how to edit the files necessary to boot properly using v4.0, I would use v3.5. All you lose is the last level, 864 mhz, you still get up to 844 mhz. I only set my max to 844 anyway, 864 was unstable for me. 3.5 boots just fine without editing files, way simpler. So yeah there you go haha

Remap Search Key or Genius Button
Sorry for the late response but the app that remaps the genius button is here.

There is some info on editing the 00banner file in the thread if 4.0 is the one anyone wants to use. Just insert this into the file on it's own line (if yours says 'end' insert it before that).
Code:
echo 600000 > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_max_freq
change the 806400 to whatever frequency you want to boot up with. Then BEFORE YOU BOOT UP, go into recovery and do this
Code:
adb shell
su
cd \system\etc\init.d\
chmod 0750 /system/etc/init.d/00banner

Forgive me if there is already an answer to this on the forum. I did some searching and didn't see one. Basically, I am wondering if any of the custom ROMS available for the EVO unlock the native wifi tethering that is part of froyo. I am running the rooted version of the 2.2 update, but the feature is hidden. It seems like if it is part of the OS, it should be able to be unlocked and included in the custom ROMS. Would be greatfull for anyone who can point me in the right direction on this as I don't want to have to use the wifi tether app if I don't have too.
Thanks,
Justin
CM6 does that. You will lose Sense though.
I was looking into that one. I am ok with looking sense, but I don't want to loose 4g. Does C6 have working 4g yet?

Tethering is working on the latest rom from Fresh if you run Netarchy's kernel.
am i missing something or why not just use wifi tether?
does that not hit 4g? if it does, why not just use that and keep sense? (not that sense is all that wonderful)
At the time of this post, WiFi tether app was not working with froyo. It is now, but its performance isn't that great.

if you want FroYo and working wifi tether, I would highly recommend the TeamFenix 1.7.1. I have been using it since it came out, it is very stable. with me being a trucker i use the tether almost everyday. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=749312
thanks, great info, are you also using gthe dopio kernel or as is?
Sent from my T-Mobile myTouch 3G Slide using XDA App
am using the newest of the Dopio 806 kernels
i have tried both the regular release of wi-fi teather (2.0.1 I believe) as well as the pre build that has worked with all the other roms released for the slide, the one reference in the developers section. Both will install and run set-up the first time I open them, but as soon as I click to start tethering my phone reboots.
I do remember that I had to install a different SU from one of eugenes releases to get wi-fi tether working for one of the other roms....but for the life of me I can't remember how I installed just that SU without installing the whole rom. I'm not a developer or even a decently smart guy if you can't tell
Barnacle is an open source wifi tether app in the market that works on windows and Ubuntu. When you start the app, you'll need to hit menu>settings and then check "Skip wpa_supplicant" for it to work. It may take a couple of tries to get it to work. But it works.
Thanks to Hellraz0r for the suggestion in the CM6 thread!
I have not tried CM6 yet, but was having problems with stock.
I installed wireless_tether_2_0_5-pre6.apk and all is well for the stock android at least.
wireless_tether_2_0_5-pre8.apk will say no internet, but wireless_tether_2_0_5-pre6.apk connects just fine. Could be a similar thing with CM6?
Well barnacle connects I did wat yu said but still doesn't load up the web page see

It's working for me. But, like I said, it may take a couple tries. This does seem to be a pretty "finicky" app. For instance, I fired up Windows and tried to connect to barnacle and the pc said it failed to connect and barnacle disappeared from the list. I hit the "Associate" button in the app tried to connect again after it came back on the list, then it worked. I'm using it right now.
Maybe try turning off your firewall for a minute? Or make it a trusted network?
Edit: I just tested my bandwidth and got this:

I have recently installed SkyRaider 3.0 Vanilla on my phone, and I had read somewhere that the Wireless Tether application will still work, even though the stock 3G Hotspot does not.
I can start it up, and turn the tethering on, but I can't connect to it to anything..

What problem is there with the 3G Wireless Hotspot?
Og, I'm not using the same rom a you but I use hydrakernel v0.5.
This may help? Do a nandroid...
If your rom is based on cm6, then don't use my kernel, per the warning on hydrakernel.net
Try using the latest version from the developer's code site instead of the one from the marketplace.

Yes i am perm rooted and running desire z sense rom is the application working for you? it starts and say sharing data but when i connect any other device there is no internet
I have been using the ota tether and have not seen any changes in my bill, should probably check with a tmo rep for some solid evidence as to whether or not they are really planning to charge for such a service.

It has been noticed that the wifi tether app gets borked if using the updated baconbits for trackpad wake kernel. It worked when I was running the bbv0.3 kernel, but when I updated for trackpad wake, the app no longer works.
Does any other ROM have WIFI/3G calling, and 3G tethering HOTSPOT?
Im tired of Cyanogen's CRAPPY wifi.
I used uhh... Who's was it... I think it was nbetchers version of the stock 2.2.
So I mean, if you wanna deal with stock, lol.
Lol, ill pass bro
I don't know if it's your case as well, but have you tried setting your router to broadcast in b and g signals only? It sucks to make all the other devices suffer for the phone's sake, but it did the trick for me.

Dude just download CM7 from their website, extract it, and it should be an apk in /system/app called MS-HTCVISION-KNT20-02.apk! That is wifi calling! , then just download a new rom and then install the apk separately!
Sent from my T-Mobile myTouch 3G Slide using XDA App
wifi calling doesn't work that way. you have to put it directly in the system/app folder in the .zip file and copy over the right .lib files from a rom with wifi calling or you'll just get instant fc's
