cant wipe sd ext partition - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
I can't wipe my ext3 partition can I wipe it with a zip

You can wipe it in the custom recovery. Go to mounts and storage and wipe the sd ext. And I don't think you can wipe it through a zip file. If you want, just use gparted or something equivelent to wipe it.

where is this done from?
TIA
judging by your question, I guess you don't have ext partition.
Otherwise you would know it can be done through recovery
As said in recovery. Wipe --> Wipe Ext
thats the thing i cant find it in ClockworkMod Recovery
I dont see a Wipe menu
when it starts i see
reboot system now
apply sdcard:update.zip
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
install zip from sdcard
nandroid
partitions menu

if i goto advanced i see
reboot recovery
wipe dalvic cache
Wipe Battery Stsas
Reports Error
Key Test
Under Partitions menu

[Q] How to do a FULL Wipe with Amon_RA v2.1.1

Well they just recently updated the Amon RA Recovery from 1.8.0 to 2.1.1
so if i could get some help.
they have the new features of wipe data, wipe cache, wipe sd card, wipe sd something, and then they have the wipe dalvik cache, data and factory reset and just wipe cache from last recovery.
So i need to know how to do a full wipe for a Rom
and a how to wipe correctly for a kernel or just flashing anything.
please.
dont flame=]
have a nice day.
anybody kno the new features of the new amon?
what are you looking to do, flash the new Amon?
If so then you need to just push that image to the phone. What I did was after I downloaded the new version i renamed it to something easy, like FILE01 or something. then just push it. Either terminal via your evo or do it using the CMD using adb shell
here is the commande to push it.
1. Copy recovery-RA-supersonic-v2.1.1.img to the root of your sdcard
2. start the terminal app or launch adb
3. su(press enter)
4. flash_image recovery /sdcard/(CHANGE TO WHATEVER YOU NAMES YOUR FILE TO ) .img(press enter)
5. reboot recovery(press enter)
If youre wondering what to do if flashing a new rom, I would do factory data reset twice, then do cache twice and dalvik cache twice. Make sure you have your rom on the root of your SD card. Put it on the first screen as the SD card comes up. Dont put it in a folder. Then do a update from zip and find it and flash it then reboot.

Help flashing Cyanogenmod

So this is what I have done so far:
Rooted using unrevoked
S-off using revolutionary.io
Flashed Ra Desire recovery image (Build: RA-desire-v2.0.0)
partitioned the sd card with gparted (1GB ext4 partition, and 7GB fat32 partiton) - SD card is class 6
So, I watched this guide:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4yurhQ5Xhi0
And when he gets to the part where he boots into recovery and wipes data, he only wipes:
Userdata
Cache
Dalvik-cache
When im in the recovery, I have following options:
- Wipe ALL userdata
- Wipe only /data
- Wipe only /sd-ext
- Wipe only /sdcard/.android_secure
- Wipe only /cache
- Wipe only Dalvik-cache
- Wipe only battery stats
- Wipe only rotate settings
This is where i get confused, do have to wipe: ALL userdata AND /cache AND Dalvik-cache? Or do i have to wipe all 8 options?
Thank you
you have a different recovery. Just select "Wipe ALL userdata" and then flash CM
All userdata is enough, this wipes everything except the rom and recovery.
wipe dalvik cache and cache if your upgrading rom and have problems, wipe all userdata when changing roms or want to restore a roms initial state.

Edit, beat me to it, took me 5 minutes to write that post, and the missus says I can't multitask.

Wipe internal storage?

will factory reset in cwm wipe my internal sd card...
No, you need to choose the "wipe internal sdcard" or "wipe /data/media" (depending on recovery, I don't use cwm) for internal to get cleaned. Factory reset wipes /data without wiping/data/media which is where the internal storage is located

It will be. You can mount the phone in mass storage mode with "Mount USB storage" to copy the zip over after, however. Most people here use an external SD (sdcard1).
