I tried to splash the file in recovery but nothing changes. Anyone know what I can do?
Don't do it in recovery. Use hboot and rename PB31IMG.zip. Only way.

Just make sure it's names PB31IMG.zip and boot into hboot. It will ask if you want to update, select yes. Simple as that.
Ok when I go to hboot I don't have the option to update ....all I can do is fastboot, recovery, etc...
Am I doing something wrong? '
Make sure your sd card is formatted to fat32 and when you go into hboot itll give you an option to update or something like that. Also make sure the file is on the root on the sd card and not names .zip.zip

ok.. here's the thing..
I have a completely BLANK sd card.. and a completely blank HTC desire..
no roms, no original firmwares, no nothing.. only thing it has is clokworkmod and recovery stuff..
when I try to format my sd card using recovery, i get this:
Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0 or mmcblk0p1
No such file or directory
I already tried to find a way to create a goldcard but couldn't figure it out.. also tried to load PB99IMG.zip but it's not working because I think I need a goldcard for this..
any ideas?
What part of making a gold card are you struggling with?
I found i had more success in making a small card (512mb) into a gold card then a bigger one.
Maybe that will help.

I managed to make a goldcard.. but it just seems not to work
when I start clockworkmod and it reads PB99IMG.zip, it does nothing..
You don't flash the PB99IMG.zip file through Clockwork Mod, that ROM is a stock ROM to reset your phone. You just have the PB99IMG.zip file on the root of your SD card (gold card if you're on a branded phone) and turn it on into HBOOT. It will see the file and ask if you want to apply it. Then just press volume up to select yes

I did this already to reset my phone.. but when HBOOT sees the file, it loads it and does nothing after this..
no questions to apply it.. no nothing.. I see the progress bar of the loading file.. then I get something like Checking PB99IMG.. and then it shows the HBOOT menu again (Fastboot, Recovery, etc..)
my phones been down since last night been having weird issues trying to fix it and i think i bricked it, or possibly clockworkmod is corrupt, its stuck in Hboot,

when i switch into fastboot an back to bootloader i get
tries to load some zip - no image
tries to load some zip - wrong image
I can boot into CWM 3.0.0.5:
when i try to flash a freshly formatted SD with a rom on it i get
E:failed to mount /sdcard (invalid argument)
E can't mount /SDcard
However i can mount USB storage and see it on my mac, i can reformat it in disk utility no issues.
when i go to reboot it out of CWM i get gabled horizontal lines. then back to hboot.
any ideas? I'm thinking it may be possible to recover it in abd but i dont have it installed or setup right now, do i have any options here?

my phones still down, i have eclipse installed now and updated with the abd-plugin
but now i cant find the resource to replace the recovery from fastboot, please help i need a phone lol.
What format did you format your SD card in?
It's basically an easy fix. Just format your SD card to the proper format and load this zip on to your SD cards root. Just rename it to PC36IMG.Zip
http://db.tt/uo4mOhh
When in bootloader, it will find the zip. When it asks you, select yes (Vol up) when its done, select no. (vol down) reboot in recovery and flash your Rom.
Sent From My HTC Evo 4G On The Now Network From Sprint Using Tapatalk Pro!
Rename this file to PC36IMG.zip and put it in the root directory of your sd card. Boot into hboot and install this from hboot. It will install aman ra recovery. Once it is installed and you can successfully enter recovery, then reinstall the rom of your choice. Clockworkmod recovery is hit or miss these days and should be avoided. You are using the wrong version of clockwork anyway with your phone it should be the 2.6.0.1 version of clockwork.
Still stuck
sorry guys but im still stuck what i did was hboot/recovery.
once in recovery i put the pc36IMG.zip file into the root folder (using USB STORAGE in storage and mounts) of the freshly formatted (MS-DOS FAT32) 32gb SD
reboot, weird horizontal lines back to hboot, when it initially loads i get:
SD checking....
loading PC36DIAG.zip
No image!
loading PC36DAIG.nbh
No image or wrong image!
loading PC36IMG.zip
No image!
loading PC36IMG.nbh
No image or wrong image!
same with hboot usb when i select at bottom.
grr i need a phone what do i do to flash the new recovery?
i should say i believe this crash happend after running the formatAll.zip
bump to the top
because my phone is important to me and its still broke. im not seeing any viable solutions
Looks like either you put the file in the wrong place or you didn't rename it right.
Make sure you put it directly on the root of your SD card. This means it should NOT be in any file folder.
Also make sure the name is correct. It should read PC36IMG.zip

hmmm im pretty sure its screwed because
A) Under mount USB storage, my Evo shows up on the desktop. to make sure its cleaned and there isn't anything hidden in there I simply open Disk Utility, click on the partition "EVO" go to erase and format to ms DOS fat (formats to fat32)
B)tried both files which where both RA 2.2.1 and renamed the files "PC36IMG.zip" (just as shown). Once renamed i draged the file into the now freshly formatted SD Card, no folders just the "/" (root) like i always do, then rebooted.
got the same error.
Do you have a memory card reader? I had a problem when trying to format while in the phone.

You r Right. I think he named it PC36IMG.zip.zip. Just rename the file PC36IMG & boot into bootloader. If the file is named right hboot will see it.
Swyped from CM7 from XDA app.
Actually...
I renamed the ra.zip to pc36IMG.zip, give me a little credit I know about renaming file extensions, btw I fix it by
Formating it through the sd slot, then repartitioned the format as a master boot record becuase by default it was formatting in GUID. I believe this is why a android couldn't read it.
Hi,
I have been googling an searching in this forum all seem to get is ooold posts...
My issue is partitioning my SD since the internal memory disappears like yesterday. From what I have found the proper way to do this is to connect the SD to external device ---> boot linux and do it in gparted (Ubuntu 11.04 liveCD).
Yeah, that work like a charm... NOT... well actually it partitions the fat32 and ext4 partition... not problem but when I try to mount the ext4 partitions it doesnt work! I presume it suppose to work...
The other thing I tried was to partition with clockwork recovery, that to worked fine but no partition.
- Hope I understand this correct but if one would partition in clockwork recovery I would be able to see this partition in gparted when done, right?
- And when I start to partition the SD I should have one fat32 partition consumes the whole SD or should I leave the size of ext4 unpartitioned?
Can someone pretty please guide me thrue this please... and before you say it Yes I have found previous guides about this but not work for me...
What is the latest Clockwork recovery and Amon RA recovery?
- Which one work best with partitioning?
Oh, I should perhaps mentions what phone and ROM....
Phone: HTC Desire
SD: Sandisk 32GB class 6
ROM: GingerBurst (seems good) or if somebody have any other suggestion... like sence and weather widget....

Check out the recovery in my signature.
Hi,
I also had loads of probelms with this...
If you want to partition you SD card via recovery i strongly recommend AmonRA.
If partitioning via gparted didn't work for your sdcard (which is odd...) i recommend using a simple Windows app called MiniTool Partititoning Wizard (it's free)...so just dl that app, enable usb debbuging on your Desire, plug in the phone, run the app, and follow this simple video tut> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aCV7Eu1pjWQ

BIG thank you this far!
Oh, I must forgotten to post what happened...
I was not able to flash new Rom with my 32gb SD but when I tried my 4gb SD card it worked fine. I would guess that there is something wrong with my SD card. I shall buy a new one and se what happens...

Before doing that make sure that both your partitions are primary and you have unchecked the "Take ownership of filesystem" option in Disk Utility from Ubuntu.

No just flash in hboot. Put it in the root of your SD card and when you get to hboot it will ask if you want to update, hit volume up to accept. Then it will ask if you want to reboot, hit volume down to denied. Then you'll be at the hboot main menu, select restart then recovery

It didn't ask if I wanted to update at all.
I've also been having this problem with my SD card. When I put a file on it (such as the recovery file), it goes okay, but then I unmount my phone and plug it back in, mount it, etc, and for some reason the file isn't on there. Same thing when I take files off, such as unneeded stuff. Next time I plug it it, it's still on there. What's up with my SD card?

If the pc can tell its formated fat32, then you should be able to reformat it.
I reformatted it but it still won't let me copy files on to it.
I mean, it does let me, but once I unmount it, it doesn't stay on the card.
I would try another SD card and try flashing a recovery with fastboot
wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/Fastboot
So my friend reformatted his sd card to fat32 (this was so he can pub PB31IMG.zip in his sd card and flash it using hboot he is rooted but clockwork recovery doesn't work)
Anyways when the phone is plugged in to the PC, two disk drives show up "DISK G" and "DISK F", both are completely blank.
What does this mean?
It wasn't like that before he reformatted them both to fat32 file system.

Well if they were formated they should be empty. Formating means to wipe all data and rebuild the disks file structure to fat32. Are you able to drag and drop files into the folders?
Ya they can drag and drop the problem is he formatted his internal storage as well
And hboot says "cannot find image or wrong image" when trying to flash PB31IMG.zip (put both PB31IMG and PB31IMG.zip just incase)

Ya thats the problem, clockwork recovery is a blank screen with two white bars on the sides for him. Its some issue with the Incredible LCD screen not seeing the recovery. Thats why he was trying to flash a working recovery but cant because hboot won't read it.

You can not flash cwm recovery or anything thru hboot except an officially signed ruu unless you are s-off. I would follow one of these guides to root and optionally get s-off. There is this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1506258, or this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1600904, both do the same thing just wrote up a little differently.
Thanks for all your help, I'll try those guides but the links give a 404 error.
