[Q] removing ringtone default's - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ok, I have been using Zedge (market) for some ringtones. I accidently selected the "check default" and hit the phones internal storage area to search for my notification sounds. Now, I can't figure out how to remove the default so I can access my SD card to choose a notification. Hope that makes sense.
BTW, I have gone into "setting/applications/manage applications/messaging and cleared data. The "clear defaults" button is not highlighted. How do I clear this?
Thanks
Dave

Update
I did an restore through CWM and its fine now.

Menu, settings, applications, manage applications, select xda app, then clear data
All i get is "Uninstall", "Clear cache" which is greyed out and "Clear Defaults" which is also greyed out then "Force Stop" at the bottom?
EDIT: I just tried "Wipe Data" for the XDA app in Titamium Backup but that hasnt made any difference either.
Also tired logging in through my browser on my x10 which works fine and logged out again

[Q] Clearing "Mail data" problem

Occasionally my stock Mail for Android app Ver 2.00 balloons to 50mg of data for some unknown reason.
To clear it I do a data wipe under the Applications menu for the Mail app. However today, that option is "greyed out" to clear data. So I tried deleting all the email accounts which worked. However the application menu still shows 40.00 meg of data.
How do I clear this to regain some internal memory?
Evo Fresh Evo 4.0.0.4
I am also needing this. My buddies is up to 247MB and there does not seem to be an answer out there.
Same problem here too, up to 119 MB of data with apparently no way to delete it.
Try wiping the data from titanium backup.....should be under the backup/restore tab.
HTC EVO 4G
I'm having the same problem. I can't get rid of 54mb of data through the clear data button. The button is simply grayed out. This seems to be a recent thing as I was able to clear it a while ago. Anyway, my inbox, trash, outbox and sent folders are all empty. I've force closed the mail app still nothing. Help.

As mentioned earlier, try wiping it through Titanium Backup. Or you can try to manually delete the data with Root Explorer.
Try wiping dalvik cache as well. I'm not sure if the dalvik cache is calculated in "manage applications", but it won't hurt anything.

[Q] How to restore google searchbar? [solved]

Anyone who could be so kind to guide me in the right direction on how to restore the searchbar? Hopefully with as little huzzle as possible.
Was fiddling around and managed to deactivate it..

Settings > Apps > All
Scroll down to Google Search, then Enable
Hope that helps
Actually its not in the app list anymore. I lost predictions from SwiftKey aswell. Tried to run the googlesearch.apk from system. This fixes the SwiftKey issue, but still no searchbar.

What Will T said is correct. I can suggest that you scroll to the bottom of the 'All' apps list and you should see it there. That list is sorted with disabled apps at the bottom.
OK I got it fixed now. But to clear things up if someone else encounters the same problem as me:
In the app list, google search only gave me the option to "force stop" and "remove installed updates" aswell as "remove data". I was not given the option to "enable" it again. Tried to install from system and reboot with no effect. Tried to force stop the app and then suddenly the enable option appeared.

[Q] phone gets stuck and reboots when trying to change email notification sound

Just ran into this issue, when I try to change the notification sound for email or messaging by selecting the Media Storage icon the phone locks up and reboots. I can select the ES File Explorer and Zedge icons with no problems.
Do I need to clear data on the Media Storage process or will that wipe out all of the original sound files?
I'm stock rooted and am currently using notifications for my email and messaging apps located in the Zedge folder.
Thanks.

Can't change Android messages default storage access options after selecting default

I accidentally told Android messages to use internal storage always by default for Android messages but now can't select other storage options like Zedge or other file locations, I've cleared the app cache/storage, completely uninstalled the app and reinstalled and still it defaults to internal storage for file access, i even tried clearing the apps defaults in app settings to no avail, it says there this app has defaults set but when o clear it it does nothing?
Clear defaults for the Files app.

That is what I've done in both screenshots attached and it won't clear the other defaults, after i clear it and go back in it keeps saying this app has defaults set even though I've completely uninstalled the app, delete the app defaults and everything and it won't pop up anymore asking what storage I want to use eg media storage, zedge etc etc, I can't select custom notification sounds anymore because it won't let me select anything else other than default?
Your 2nd screenshot isn't loading unfortunately. You're not getting this to happen for the Files app?

Yeah that one anyway that says no defaults set always says defaults are set for the the messages app even after i clear it and go back into it it says the same thing, for some reason it won't revert back to asking for which file location to choose from.
But my recommendation was to clear defaults for the FILES app not messages. It's the Files app that's been chosen as default file browsing.

There is no defaults set for the files app see screenshot, only the messaging app which i accidentally told it always internal storage but it doesn't clear it.
Curious. What are you trying to do again? Change notification sounds?

Yes you know when you have other apps installed and it asks you where to look, eg media storage which is the default internal storage and for eg other locations like zedge it used to ask in message and i normally selected myself which location to select from but on this occasion i accidentally selected always use media storage which is the default sounds and now cannot reset it at all.
I've never seen that option to use a different file browser. I just put sounds into the notification folder and it shows up. SWW = Super Mario World.
