[Q] Htc Evo Cricket 3g issues - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have phone service, and i can send simple text messages. It is not in roaming mode. GPS seems to work also.
I have installed a zip file: cricket_web_mms_v10.zip and restored the proper APN file for cricket.
I have also tried the proxy settings change with the anycut program..
I think they have the wrong phone type, and i am on the 45 dollar plan..
Any help would be appriciated

AFAIK you have to be in the $55 and what prl are you using? Im using one I found at a different place than the guide
P.S My solution was that I figured out that my MIN was wrong thats why I couldn't receive anything... when I'm ungrounded I will post a guide (I'm using cm7 rc1 and apps/gps/wap/mms/calls/txts are all working magnificently)

GPRS settings - why no *99# field - failure to log in

I'm happily using my PDA2K on multiple networks on GPRS.
I've just been given a SIM which has permission to use 2 different APNs on the same network. The phone company says they are identical in terms of user name, password, etc requirements.
I can happily log onto one APN. logging onto the other comes up with the "modem has disconnected" message, though the network support guy tells me I did get through initially.
Same message as you get if you don't have permission to use the APN, or set wrong username/password in the PDA.
I note that the PDA has nowhere to enter the *99# 0r *99***1# type string which other units have. Does anyone understand whether this, or anything else, could explain my difficulties?

[Q] WP7 Service Reference Async Calls Buffer Size

I am completely new to the WP7 API calls which involve adding the asmx file as service reference. But, i am having a problem with the API calls that are called asynchronously via this method (SOAP requests).
I referenced a ASMX file that's in the cloud and called an async API. I got the below error message.
========
The HTTP request to '.....asmx' has exceeded the allotted timeout of 00:01:00. The time allotted to this operation may have been a portion of a longer timeout. ---> System.Net.WebException: The operation has timed out.
========
When googled this message, many were pointing to timeout value set in the ServiceReferences.ClientConfig file that gets created when adding a service reference. So, i modified the file to increase the timeout to 10 min from 1 min.
So now, the API calls take 252 seconds to complete. That's too long, even if its async. If i call the same API synchronously via HTTP, it is instant.
So i dug deep and did a wireshark trace. What i found was the async calls uses the UDP protocol and it starts receving the response right away. But it receives in 60 bytes increment. So to receive the full data, it takes 252 seconds.
Now my question to you folks is, is there a way to increase the data buffer size for the UDP. Or is this a limitation or feature of WP7/VS.net?
Note: I cannot the call the API synchronously due to the vendor exposing the API's only as asmx reference.
Found the problem. The problem is IPV6 and SOAP using asmx doesn't go well. Interestingly, the code works in WP7 Device without the timeout. It doesn't work in the Emulator in PC's that have IPV6 enabled.
In case you folks run into the same problem, disable Teredo in your PC.
Open Command Prompt and type the following:
netsh
interface
teredo
set state disabled
To set it back to default again use:
set state default

[Q] How to Re-configure 1x data connection

Hi, is there anyway to reconfigure the 1x data connection username and password on the Verizon HTC Incredible?
Are these settings in the NAM somewhere rather than in the OS like in WM?
Thanks!
Edit: Think it's through ##778. I'll try in the morning. It's 0230hrs here.

yep. ##778 to get to the settings. you need to be on a sense based rom with EPST.apk in the system/app folder
Unfortunately no. PST doesn't have any settings for the username and password for you data account.
Where would that be located?
that's true, Nik. There is no setting for UN and PW in PST. Anyone knows where else to look.

What network are you trying to do this for? Why do you only have a 1x and not 3g connection? Just curious.
well the phone has both 1x and EVDO but I'm trying to get the 1x working first.

##778# is the only way / place i know of to put programing. Data info should mostly be in M.IP Default Profile. Your user name in NAI and DUN NAI and the password in HA and AA Shared Secret.
I checked but the MIP parameters are if the cdma network is configured with data roaming. We use no roaming - Simple IP (SIP) instead of Mobile IP (MIP). Most parameters under MIP settings are for just that, MIP.
found this on the web. seems legit but still didn't work for me. some setting is still not right.
Step 1: Reprogramming your phone
from your phone, dial ##pst (##778) - Press Call
click "edit mode"
enter security code 000000
scroll down to M.IP Settings
change MIP Mode to Simple IP only
hit back
scroll down to Security
change the "HDR AN AUTH User Id (LONG) to "proper TATA username"
change the "HDR AN AUTH Password (LONG) to "proper TATA password"
change the "PPP User Id to "proper TATA username"
change the "PPP Password to "proper TATA password"
change the "S.IP DUN Username to "proper TATA password"
hit back
press menu, choose "Commit Modifications."
The phone will power cycle.

The issue may be the passwords. They are ment to be encrypted i believe, at least they are in my settings. Here is an example of what my password field looks like ( í…*É1‚¤].VDW.ö¾ ), i have no clue how you would go about encrypting them, and most of the characters are not on the phones keyboard to type it in if you could encrypt it. I suppose you could use qpst on a pc to be able to enter the characters, but still no clue how to encrypt it.
Also S.IP DUN Username should be your tata user name not password as you stated above. My user name fields looks like this ( [email protected] ), and the dun one is ( [email protected] ). Hope that helps some how, just throwing stuff out there.
ok, confirming. It's working now. I just had to configure the PPP UN and PW to get the 1x working.
Hi again, now that the 1x is working fine does anyone know any specific configs to make the EVDO work?

[Q] Sprint Galaxy S3 on Boost

I will gladly provide a tutorial after I am done doing this. The only problem I have is getting the MMS to work and getting the 3G to work, I have voice and sms done. I know how to fix the 3G just need a little help with it. This is what I have to change to get 3G working. Now for the password do I need to use the aaa from the donor phone or from the galaxy? Also another problem I think I might have created. I typed in ##Data# on the phone dialpad. I entered the spc, then I went into the aaa password and I deleted it. Did the same for the ha password. So if those are needed how do I recover them? As for the donor phone I can still get the aaa and ha passwords, as I have not messed with anything on it.

Help with data settings when flashing Cricket handsets to other carriers.

So I'm trying to flash Cricket's Samsung Vitality (R720) to a non-US carrier. Everything is fine except for the data settings. For the NAI and PPP settings, it uses a different number than the MDN. This number is a code (5 digits) plus the MDN. The problem is that all Cricket handsets take just MDN numbers (10 digits only) for the NAI and PPP settings. Whenever it exceeds 10 digits for the MDN portion of the NAI and PPP, it reverts back to a default number upon reboot. For example, on cricket a normal PPP number would be [email protected]. For this other carrier, the MDN would be [email protected]. What can I do so that I can permanently enter anything I want on the PPP and NAI fields?
