[Q] How to Re-configure 1x data connection - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, is there anyway to reconfigure the 1x data connection username and password on the Verizon HTC Incredible?
Are these settings in the NAM somewhere rather than in the OS like in WM?
Thanks!
Edit: Think it's through ##778. I'll try in the morning. It's 0230hrs here.

yep. ##778 to get to the settings. you need to be on a sense based rom with EPST.apk in the system/app folder

Unfortunately no. PST doesn't have any settings for the username and password for you data account.
Where would that be located?

that's true, Nik. There is no setting for UN and PW in PST. Anyone knows where else to look.

What network are you trying to do this for? Why do you only have a 1x and not 3g connection? Just curious.

well the phone has both 1x and EVDO but I'm trying to get the 1x working first.

##778# is the only way / place i know of to put programing. Data info should mostly be in M.IP Default Profile. Your user name in NAI and DUN NAI and the password in HA and AA Shared Secret.

I checked but the MIP parameters are if the cdma network is configured with data roaming. We use no roaming - Simple IP (SIP) instead of Mobile IP (MIP). Most parameters under MIP settings are for just that, MIP.

found this on the web. seems legit but still didn't work for me. some setting is still not right.
Step 1: Reprogramming your phone
from your phone, dial ##pst (##778) - Press Call
click "edit mode"
enter security code 000000
scroll down to M.IP Settings
change MIP Mode to Simple IP only
hit back
scroll down to Security
change the "HDR AN AUTH User Id (LONG) to "proper TATA username"
change the "HDR AN AUTH Password (LONG) to "proper TATA password"
change the "PPP User Id to "proper TATA username"
change the "PPP Password to "proper TATA password"
change the "S.IP DUN Username to "proper TATA password"
hit back
press menu, choose "Commit Modifications."
The phone will power cycle.

The issue may be the passwords. They are ment to be encrypted i believe, at least they are in my settings. Here is an example of what my password field looks like ( í…*É1‚¤].VDW.ö¾ ), i have no clue how you would go about encrypting them, and most of the characters are not on the phones keyboard to type it in if you could encrypt it. I suppose you could use qpst on a pc to be able to enter the characters, but still no clue how to encrypt it.
Also S.IP DUN Username should be your tata user name not password as you stated above. My user name fields looks like this ( [email protected] ), and the dun one is ( [email protected] ). Hope that helps some how, just throwing stuff out there.

ok, confirming. It's working now. I just had to configure the PPP UN and PW to get the 1x working.

Hi again, now that the 1x is working fine does anyone know any specific configs to make the EVDO work?

GPRS settings - why no *99# field - failure to log in

I'm happily using my PDA2K on multiple networks on GPRS.
I've just been given a SIM which has permission to use 2 different APNs on the same network. The phone company says they are identical in terms of user name, password, etc requirements.
I can happily log onto one APN. logging onto the other comes up with the "modem has disconnected" message, though the network support guy tells me I did get through initially.
Same message as you get if you don't have permission to use the APN, or set wrong username/password in the PDA.
I note that the PDA has nowhere to enter the *99# 0r *99***1# type string which other units have. Does anyone understand whether this, or anything else, could explain my difficulties?

Using built in tethering without the fees?

So my friend was saying he is using the built in tether without the fees from Verizon by doing ##PROGRAM and screwing with the proxy settings so it doesn't go through Verizon's proxy. Is this true or false?

This quite true. All you need to do is go into EPST by dialing ##778 on the phone. Select EDIT MODE. When it asks for the password, enter 000000. Go to SECURITY and change S.IP DUN USER NAME. It should have [email protected]. Change it to [email protected]. Go back to the main menu and select M.IP DEFAULT PROFILE and change DUN NAI the same as you did S.IP DUN USER NAME. Go back to the main menu. Select MENU on the phone and select COMMIT MODIFICATIONS.
That is all there is to it. Now you will be able to use the 3G Mobile Hotspot to share your connection. Enjoy.

Any drawbacks from Doing this?
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
I personally haven't experienced any.
If you *228 with option 1 it does reset it back to defaults which is to be expected. Just go back into EPST and change them again.
I get an error. Says "radio cannot enter low power mode" when I try to commit the changes.
Any thoughts?
my phone hangs on the commit changes part

[Q] How do I change my APN settings?

I know the Sprint Note II doesn't allow you to change the APN settings, but I can't figure out a way to do it all; even with the phone rooted. Has anyone managed to do this? I can upload new APN settings using APN back up and restore, but I can't select them as my APN. Thank you!
I see in the ##DATA# menu, click Edit, type your MSL, Others > LTE APN Settings. This has the eHRPD, LTE, and Global Roaming APNs. you cant edit those, but you can delete them. That might be where you can select your own if they show up?

Selling my phone. Did full wipe, etc, but how to get rid of MIN, username, etc..

Im selling my Sprint GS3 as rooted, and I wiped everything so the rom is freshly installed, but under about device / status / it still shows the Sprint username associated with the account and my phone number and MIN. Is there any way to delete those blocks before selling the phone to a new buyer? I know that goes away once they activate it on their own, but I'd like to get rid of that data so they can't see it period.
**Try at your own risk**
Do you know your phone's MSL#?
If yes, then this is how I have always done it with my previous Samsung phones.
To delete your Sprint username, go to "Phone" and dial ##DATA# (##3282#)
"Data programming" screen should show up. Tap "Edit" and it should ask for your phone's MSL#. I'm currently using the MOAR Rom so for some reason it bypasses the MSL screen. Then tap "Data Profile" where you will be able to delete or edit your "Username"
For editing or deleting your MDN/MIN, go to "Phone" and dial ##MSL#. If your MSL is 123456 dial ##123456#
"MSL NAM info" should show up then tap "Edit" to edit or delete your numbers. I usually just put all zeros. Phone may restart after doing this.
Hope that works for you.

Change apn settings on a Lg-V50pm?

Picked one up on Amazon and got all working for ATT except txt. Is there anyway to unlock APN settings?

Made an account just to say I've got the same exact issue, except with a foreign carrier (took it abroad to the UK--never ever had this bull**** issue with any non-Sprint LG phone). I know exactly what the issue is--on every other device I'm able to edit things like the APN type, but even in the ##3282# options with my phone's unlock code, I can't edit anything. The V50 Sprint unlocked version has also locked me out of wifi hotspot, which I was depending on to provide stable internet for laptop zoom meetings when my wifi goes down. No idea how to fix, but hoping someone knows..
EDIT: Hallelujah I figured it out.
Try:
"What you have to do is to "phone" *#*#4636#*#* You will get a page labelled Testing with three sub headings the top one is Phone information. Click on this and you get a lot of information; scroll down until you get to SMSC:. In here you have to put inverted commas followed by the telephone number of your SIM supplier (Get it from them - unless you can find it on the Internet) followed again by inverted commas. Click the update button and, in my case, it added a comma and 145 to the SMS number still in inverted commas. "
And then in your message app settings, in advanced settings you should do a custom SMSC (you can google what it is for your provider)
EDIT 2: Preemptive victory... It's really slow, and can only send to numbers with my exact country code (eg it won't work for texting the numbers you can get your balance from)
Thanks, but what is an "inverted comma"?
