I can't be the only person facing this choice...
I need to replace my aging HTC Touch HD (Blackstone) as my contract expires the end of this month.
I have the choice of the Omnia 7 and HTC Mozart.
I was originaly leaning towards the Mozart but having seen a few reviews now the Omnia seems to be a possibly better bet.
There are conflicting opinions of the camera on the Mozart, some say it's great others saying it's not as good as the Omnia's 5MP job.
The screen does look beautiful on the Omnia but I just don't know. Maybe people having the same dilema as me or those who have made the choice already could add their opinions to aid me and possibly others!
Many thanks!
I had the same dilemna yesterday. My Touch Pro 2 broke and my phone insurance offered to try and get a replacement or offer me the cash (£360!!).
I looked at the Mozart and the Omnia and have opted for the Mozart. Spec wise they seem very similar, but I think the Mozart seems a bit sturdier. It is arriving on Tuesday!
Definitely go for the Mozart. The Galaxy S left a bad taste in my mouth. HTC build quality > Samsung build quality.
I like the Samsung built phones but HTC built phones are also good.
I would just look at the specs / battery life / display / extras etc.
That way you can find one that suits your needs.
The Samsung looks better, especially because the display blends well into the phone frame.
However considering how text and contrast heavy the WP7 UI is, the Pentile pattern in AMOLED isn't exactly optimal for sharpness. At least I can make the color fringing on texts as well as the gritty Pentile pattern in images out rather well (I guess having not yet bad eyes helps). Right now I have a Nexus and can make things out, a larger display will worsen it for me personally.
So I'm making the compromise and go for a HTC device with SLCD (Trophy tho, not the Mozart).
Also, in the end, the hit on the battery will be generally less, seeing how browsing is a major activity, and that most websites have white or bright backgrounds, without AMOLEDs power draw in play. Samsung has a bigger battery tho.
I went for the Mozart as the Omnia's screen is a little too large for me. It's due for delivery Monday but I won't get it until Tuesday or Wednesday as I'm not at my Billing Address.
Thanks for the input.
One of the concerns I had was regarding the build quality of the Samsung model since it hasn't really been their strong point on previous handsets.
I read different opinions on the casing of the Omnia 7, mostly saying it is much improved.
I got the Omnia 7 from Orange yesterday build quality is good and the screen is awsome... Free on 18 month contract £35 per month.... So will have the option to upgrade again Jan 2012 (after 15 months)........ Had no crashes so far!!

A question regarding the camera on the Omnia. Reviews have stated the flash is overpowering and not that useful. However I assume since it's LED it means that it can be turned on costantly for use on video recording and could double up as a torch.. something the Mozart with a xenon cannot do?
Thanks
I'm in exactly the same boat. I've been holding off upgrading for 4 months now to see how WP7 pans out. Would like to stay with Orange but this isn't a requirement.
I wanted to ask, has anyone actually tried the phones out before buying? Are the phones in the shops yet? I haven't got down to one yet (my second son was born yesterday, so I have a good excuse), so don't know. I don't think I'd want to commit to 18 months (at least) without trying the hardware out first.
And of course, there's always the HD2, sorry HD7 on O2. Like a mini-tablet, only fits in your pocket, unlike a Streak. I'll need to try this one out too.
Having spoken to Orange they aren't offering particularly good options with regards to renewing so I did look around. However what I was offered is still better than O2 will do so the HD7 was out for me.
The LG on Vodafone didn't really inspire me nor did the Trophy.
I wish the Venue Pro (Lightning was such a better name) was offered on a carrier.
I'm heading into town tomorrow so was going to ring up my local Orange shop to see if they had either handsets in stock so that i could have a play with them.
Another thing I was curious about that had been raised in other posts was if the Omnia had Gorilla glass as with the Galaxy. That would be a real plus point for me as i do worry about having such a big screen after managing to crack my Touch HD even though i treat my phones with great care.

Been with Orange for what seems like a life time and like you I'm also out of contract and looking for a suitable replacement. I actually jumped ship and went to o2 (for the best part of a day). I got the HD7 for £45 a month on a 24 month contract which includes insurance. I had to pay £49 for the handset though but to be honest I really didn't feel comfortable leaving Orange were I was paying £35 a month (which includes insurance) for less minutes...
Again being totally honest, the HD7 is a beast of a phone. Compared to my Blackstone (which I've flashed the hell out of) the HD7 is just stunning. The large screen and handset quality easily gives you bragging rights ahead of any phone. It just seemed to work out of the box but strangely enough, something just didn't feel right. Maybe it was the big screen that I used to drool over. Maybe it was the fact I had to leave Orange. Maybe it was the fact that I couldn't flash my phone no more. I just don't know. Because of these reservations, I reluctantly returned the phone (still in shock I did this). I've decided to give WP7 another chance and I have ordered the Samsung Omnia7 on Orange, which is free of charge on a 18 month contract for £35 a month, 600min and unlimited internet. The phone arrives on Monday and I will certainly give it a good try. The reviews I’ve read are encouraging so I’m keeping an open mind. If I still have any doubts about the phone, I’ll return it and wait for the Desire HD on Orange.
For me the jury is still out for WP7. Don't get me wrong, it very user friendly and intuitive, however my only concern is that the operating system has been completely locked down like the Iphone. Simple tasks like syncing with outlook and mass storage access through explorer is a thing of the past. For me, it’s a change of mindset. I’m cool with this but old habits die hard.
Can I just say to everyone considering a trophy...
Please go and check it out with your Hands!
It's a piece of plastic junk after seeing it in a vodafone store... it's definitely the super budget WP7...
Also take note the screens on Trophy and Mozart are different, the Mozart's being 0.1" less but a much better quality display to my eye!
Just talk with Orange, they are doing great deals on the Mozart, please get that instead of a trophy!
Also if you want OLED, Omnia 7 has a metal wrapped back... it's quite solid, there's no creaks! It's sexy.
Yeah even HTC says the HTC Trophy is their bottom of the line "budget" WP7 device. Not saying it's bad, just that it's meant to be the budget phone.

I mean, come on. Why didn't sammy put a hummingird in the omnia to atleast make it stand out a lil more?

Because MS told them not to, they're strict. And that's good for us.. we all know how Sammy screwed up galaxy s (maybe they'll fix it now - in november rls..NOT)
went into my local Orange shop today.
They don't have any Mozarts in and won't for a few days. They don't know when the Omnia is coming in and said only a limited number are available in the country.
So no new insights gained! I may just plump for the Omnia and if i don't like it i can return it for the Mozart.
What's the price difference between the Mozart and the Trophy... if its a budget wp7 phone?

Orange don't have the Trophy at the moment it's on Vodafone.
I have a leaflet here from Vodafone store:
FREE HTC 7 Trophy
- 300 minutes
- Unlimited standard UK Texts
- 500MB of UK Web access
£25 a month on a 24-month agreement
Same tariff on Orange
HTC Mozart
- 300 minutes
- Unlimited standard UK Texts
- 500MB UK Web Access
£25 a month on a 24-month agreement
Plus £100 handset cost.
(Or free on a more expensive tariff)
£100 over 2 years remember is £4.17 a month
I'm on the verge of ordering the Omnia I think.
Looking at reviews the camera picture quality seems better on the Omnia than the Mozart, likely due to Samsung having better camera hardware than HTC. I know the camera on my HD is attrocious.
It's so difficult to decide as there is so little between the launch hardware. I like HTC as a company as my Blackstone has been superb, just there is nothing stand out on the Mozart for me really...
Gutted that the Orange stores didn't have any in to play with though. In the past there have been clear choices, such as the Touch HD vs Xperia X1 was any easy decision for me.
Anyone hear anything besides CDMA coming in Q1 ? I've been following all day nothing so far on any new models or anything on brands.
I've seen a bunch of phones but, all that Anroid crap... (sorry fanboys, I'm not a fan)
Did anyone else see anything ?
Nothing really new.
When an MS rep was questioned, he did say something like (I'm paraphrasing), "We're saving some news for a later date. Only if there was an event coming up dedicated to mobile devices in Barcelona, Spain where we could talk about this..."
Making a not so thinly veiled reference to the Mobile World Congress starting on February 14th.
I honestly didn't think there was anything exciting at CES. Dual core is nothing without the apps to back it up. As a former Android user, I didn't find anything interesting. Maybe that is because T-Mobile didn't announce a superphone and I will not break my contract.
They will drop a couple devices in February. Maybe in Spain.
Than again, sometime in the Fall.
Yea, nothing good, it sucks to be honest with ya.... It's not over yet (later date ?) but, I guess we'll see.
We CDMA people have to wait till Feb before we hear anything about a CDMA WP7 ? I feel like one of those (you know who you are) Verizon iPhone people, just waiting and waiting....
I'll have to admit, some of those Android phones looked nice just only if they had WP7 on them, it would be great.

It is over on Sunday (I think) and there are still companies that need to present. I believe that Sprint has yet to present knowing that AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon already presented.
Someone said that the HTC Trophy is coming very soon. Just passed the FCC with Verizon's banding.
But all of the Android phones have skins. Oddly enough, only one of them had Gingerbread and it is not even on a US carrier anytime soon.
I am not sure if there is anything new - as in the case you haven't yet heard of - coming on MWC, MS has a single stand at the event.
i was really expecting some aha announcements from balmer and his team. just some rattling on about nothing really, ahem xbox this and that. he's really looking old and tired now.
really expecting to see some cool innovations. maybe those projector phones with 12 hour batteries and lte connectivity ? well, no.
of course there are android phones everywhere (ya i'm a big fan) but expected more there also. one dual core phone. well, ok. if i get my nexus one, g2, g1, and wifes g2 all together, i'll have 4 cores really close to each other. woooo-p.
tell the truth i'd get more excited if there was some shazam new battery tech announced that let a badass smartphone run for a week on a charge that i'd be if there was a quad core handset.
tablets, good lord tablets everywhere ! and honeycomb is really going to be tailored specifically for tablets. sweet. nice to see a company making a specific OS for tablets.
things that aren't selling me:
tablets (too big for phoning, too small for real computing)
front facing cameras
barely usable batteries
gee-wiz dual cores/quad cores
kick stands
anything that isn't a micro-usb (c'mon already, standards!)
things taht would get me hot to buy:
LTE (the upgrade to this g2 with 6-7Mbps is pretty smokin fast, i want more though)
led projector, HD quality
720p that rivaled the iphone's (their stuff is really, really , really good)
a week long battery
waterproof
drop proof

Where did you read "The Entry level WP7 device" AKA HTC The Trophy just passed FCC banding ??
If it just got passed, it could be a few months before anyone sees it... Not sure I want the Trophy anyway, it's the lowest end model out of all current WP7 phones...
I'd rather have the Pro 7 (yea, the one Sprint is getting), I was hoping for something else on Verizon than just the Trophy.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, after 1 billion planned and millions so far spent on adveristing for WP7, Verizon and Sprint will not come to market with just 1 device each.

Out of all the stuff they come up, they can't solve a simple battery problem ? WTF ???

simple? if it was so simple why wouldn't you or anyone else for that matter do it? I guess its because im an engineer and i know science that i find this statement ridiculous. Lithium is the best element for energy storage and that is already being used. This is because lithum's desire to give elections away on it outer shell (hydrogen ist because it is hofbrincl). It is really going to be hard to find something else that can work better than this. Battery cell architecture enhancements are they best way to go with this route until some kind of reaction proves better, but that can only go so far. my point, it is hard, and a new approach to energy storage will have to be solved for it to really get better so i'd quit expecting something.
ok enough of the science lesson, I was also kind of disappointed in CES. Honestly I might of gone back to andriod if there was a LTE, dual core, sim card based, high res, 8 mp with FF VGA camera, 4.3 in phone that had excellent 4G coverage and 2.3 on it but noting announced met that criteria.
I was also hoping MS would drop the flash surprise or extended limited multitasking abilty but that also failed to happen. Basically what I heard from MS was exactly what everyone already knew. Some apis that allow certian types of services (streaming music apis, chat, etc) to preform in the backgroud would of been great.
i'm walking away from CES like eh, but eventually an LTE tablet might be in my future.

The HTC Pro 7 the one thought, I could not find any actual proof of it going to Sprint, the only way we know the Trophy is going to Verizon because they offered it to MS Employees.
The Trophy just passed the FCC yesterday. The HTC Pro 7 (the other CDMA "7" phone) passed the FCC 10/25/2010 and is still not here.
If someone is counting on getting it very soon, I would be shocked.

Dude, calm down... I was kidding with that... We've only been with the same battery tech for 5-10+ years now ? I'm sure someone came up with something by now. I know it's not simple by any means, it just sucks that no one has solved it. Not even any proto-types or rumors, that dead on this subject.
Pretty soon, something is going to have to happen, phones get faster, need more power, phones get bigger for bigger batteries...Sounds like we are going backwards to me...

from a simple stand point i can see your stance, but once you know the technology it makes since. Solar energy is actually the leading cause for the push in energy storage, but maybe cell phones will help push that.
What i honestly think is going to happen id the evolution of the power mat from Duracell. When the guy who invented it was still at MIT and proposing this tech he also stated in the future it would be possible to get rid of the mat and transmit power OTA. This would be a future with no batteries in cell phones thus making them the slimiest they could possibly be. However what happens when you are too far away from the tower emitting power.
This is all just FYI stuff, but if you are interested in the future of batteries this is the answer.

Yea, very interesting, if it ever comes out, I read about that like almost a year ago, as it could hold the power, the possable problems coming out (to the world) could be really bad.
As for wireless power, cool but, at what cost? As I think about this more, someone has to pay for the power and no one is going to give power away for free. So a power system off of a tower someplace ? Never will happen, there are too many companies making money off the grid and they would never let it happen, even for small devices.
It's a nice idea over all, to have a longer range "power mat" type of system, one in your home, one in your car, one in your office so you can limit your breaks of constant power (kind of like plugging it in when your in those locations) but, then you go back to the battery tech. Try recharging your battery 5-10 times a day or more (going between locations) how long do you think your battery would last (after discharge and recharge 100's of times more a month) ????
Anyway, for Verizon cusomers... a Press statement or "event" coming on Tuesday... Said, releases, so maybe WP7 along with the iPhoney.

Thank god I am not alone with this. Front facing cameras are basically dead. Some old Windows Mobile devices had them, but I don't think anyone ever used them.
I am waiting for Microsoft to make dual core fully optimized for dual core, it might happen 2012 though. I could wait on that.
And for data speed, I would rather wait for HSPA+ (the one with a peak of 42 mpbs) on a WP7 devices, only because I have no plans of switching carriers (all carriers work here, so doesn't really matter which one I use). LTE is pretty cool and it is available in my area.
Fed up with all the negative posts. I saw the ASUS Transformer forums do the same in the early days of release.
1) I think my Nexus is great - I used to have a Desire. Now I have a phone that I think is MUCH better.
2) Im very happy for anyone who feels their phone is better but will have much more respect for those who compare based on hands on experience. However why KEEP posting on a Nexus forum why you think your phone is better ? Post how great your phone is on its own forum.
3) Im fully aware that there are some bugs. Most of these will be fixed by software updates. Its part of the 'fun' of being an early adopter.
4) Threads about hardware problems are fine and very useful. I havent experienced any myself (yet) and hopefully Samsung will fix/recall/exchange.
5) I know the camera is limited and 'only' 5mp. thats fine. i use my phone for point and shoot. Im old enough to remember the first digital cameras. This camera does me fine.
Regards,
Happy Nexus Owner
(are there any others out there ?)
p.s. I love my Transformer too.
I don't have one yet, but I'm planning on picking one up soon. New devices always bring out the loud-mouth whiners who apparently spend 8+ hours on the board complaining every day. I've got a job...
Anyway, the device looks great. I'm really excited. It will be my first Nexus device (although my wife did have the Nexus S, and I run CM7 on my EVO 4G). It will also be my first GSM device - I'm in the US and switching from Sprint to AT&T. I plan on picking up a European unlocked unit. Sprint's network has gotten really terrible lately. Can't wait for the new toy!

Where are you ordering yours from? I'm also on AT&T and looking to buy an unlocked gsm version from the UK. I've found: https://negrielectronics.com/samsung-i9250-google-galaxy-nexus-black-unlocked.html and http://www.handtec.co.uk/product.ph...xus-16gb--sim-free-unlocked--titanium-silver-
Handtec appears to be cheaper (after converting), but they aren't including the VAT charge in the price... so it may end up being more expensive.
other than the volume / 900MHz interference issue, I am really happy with this phone. It's just a shame that this issue is tainting the experience for me.
I love the screen, it's easily the best screen I've had on a mobile phone, Android 4.0 is great, along with all the updated Google Apps.
Google+ still cannot do notifications properly though...Google need to sort that one out!
But I am happy with the phone (albeit for the 900MHz problem)

VAT doesn't apply if you are shipping to the US. Ordered mine from there for AT&T and it was about $700 or so after shipping

You don't pay VAT when you import to the US. Negri is just seriously more expensive for some reason (most of their devices are more expensive).
Clove and Handtec both have phones (and all indications are they're reputable). I believe Handtec is holding shipments because they're aware of the volume bug. Check out the specific threads for the Clove and Handtec orders. Lots of info in there.

Next thing I like about my Nexus .... speed to pick up GPS !!! Ive even had some degree of luck sat in my office where it must be getting some info through a distant window

One thing I am loving is in the developers section you can change the animation speeds. Gives a great different feel to the phone.

Believe it or not they're helpful. Yes, some lack detail and could be considered petty, repetitive or both, but I'm a big boy and can sift through banal chatter to glean some good comparitive information. And while everyone knows what the specs are in advance, actual comments on real-world performance are helpful. For example, I could give two craps about 5 vs. 8 megapixels in the camera but I do want to know how well it takes pictures and videos. And to say "you knew it was 5 megapixels before you bought it" every time someone posts their camera experience is a stupid and biased comment. If the forum were limited to nothing but happy posts it would simply be a club for fanboys.

erm.... i think you missed my point.....
I have no problem with negative posts. But .... if you were coming onto this forum to investigate a phone you would read:
1) Posts about hardware problems (useful)
2) Problems about software faults (useful - but ICS not Nexus)
3) People stating why they think their phone is better (inevitable)
You dont tend to find many posts praising the phone which i dont think provides a fair comparison. You dont get many people starting threads saying 'i have no issues'.
Im quite able to sift through what i do and dont want to read.
This thread was just to state that there are a lot of people (hopefully) who are pleased with their purchase and to state some of the good things about the phone.
Maybe some people investigating the Nexus will be able to see that its not all doom and gloom .... its a great phone
We are living in exciting times, the things these handsets can do we could only dream about just a few years ago. Bug or no bug I just love this device. Great performance, great display, just Android on another level. I trust Samsung will sort these issues out overtime, be it with new software or replacement hardware. In the meantime I'll enjoy my Galaxy Nexus.

Compared with the analogue Nokia i had 18 years ago things have moved on significantly
Why is it that I feel that SGW is somehow being phased out. A 1.4 Ghz processor phone but no ICS Support. It is not very much talked about nowadays which is a little understandable because of new phone releases. But what's worse, in our country (Philippines), price went down by almost 5,000 pesos. That's more than 100 USD and it's cheaper than Galaxy Ace!
I'm getting very much dissapointed buying this phone
i can relate
been to glorietta 3 days ago to find the phone (SGW) i bought just this december is already on sale at 12k (much to my dissapointment),gawd i spent 17K+ for this.. the only explanation i got (from the samsung saleslady) was that they are trying to compete SGW with nokia's lumia hence the price slash..
It's the first time for me to buy an expensive phone, and also is the first time I saw a phone price drop in less than 2 weeks, and its one hell of a drop..
What's to compete with Lumia anyways, Symbian always fail to defeat Android.
It shouldn't have been the price that was changed but the features i.e. ICS official rom..
No respect to the first customers who bought the phone.
Now when I look at my phone, I find it not unique anymore but a stupid rubbish.

Please dont be disappoint, we already have CM9 here, and more builds/ports are in pipeline, trust me. its an amazing phone.
Guys, believe me, there is nothing to be disappointed with in the Wonder......
It is a super phone, and it is far from being forgotten....
there is a very active Dev community,
and peeps who are willing to help in any way, to make users experience better.
Also, just to compare our Wonder with the Ace, here is a comparison from Gsm Arena:
http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=4114&idPhone2=4397
I for one am glad I have the Wonder, and of course we do have ICS, in the form of CM9, now in Alpha 2, from Arco, Dev extraordinaire!!!!
A 1.4GHz CPU Powered..with tweaks available here....I guarantee no regrets whatsoever....

Moral Lesson i learn is to wait until they markdown the price jajaja or see the review of other people.
Yes I know there's nothing really to be disappointed of if we are looking at the bright side, but I ain't . I wonder if the downprice would hit the market. It seems even with this low price, W is still very unpopular. Lacks advertisements I guess.
Actually I bought this phone second hand just recently for 11 thousand pesos. (Just a week before the down price). I wonder if he foresee that there's gonna a be a price bargain. Anyway, looking forward to master Arco's success.

This past weekend, my mother passed away, she was 84y/old.....and had Alzheimers disease, but suffered very little....her motto, and favorite song was:
Smile
Smile, though your heart is aching
Smile, even though it’s breaking
When there are clouds in the sky

If you smile through your fear and sorrow
Smile and maybe tomorrow
You’ll see the sun come shining through

Because of similar sets from Samsung, no one set in middle range is getting popular.
But there is chance if the the W prices are going down, then lot of people will but it resulting in a bigger community and more development.

Samsung need not be threatened by Nokia's Lumia since it is a Windows phone. Android is more friendly due to its ease of use and due to mods mainly developed by people in this community.
I have been in a mall last weekend and Samsung released a dual core phone much like the Wonder in size and appearance, also in the original price range of the Wonder. That may be the reason for the price drop.
Didnt get much info though since I am not interested in getting a new phone at the moment.

look to it another way...
that price drop will cause more peeps to buy it and so there will be more users...
more user means more chance to get more support to this phone
i bought my G'W last december and here they are still arround 300 euro (17.000 pesos)
and for me it's still 300 euro worth

From his description, a recently released Samsung phone, pricing somewhat close to W's original release price, looks a bit much like W, and has a dual core processor, i'm pretty sure its galaxy S Advance.
Maybe the lesson here is, if your gonna choose a Samsung phone, don't settle for mid-range.

I was browsing the net today, when i stumbled across a new phone from HTC. The Desire C. Rubbish phone but...ICS! That's insulting! Check it out on gsm arena (it won't let me post external links yet xD)
yeah maybe its price dropped but if your only for a bit gaming and some browsing but more on texting, music and videos then definitely its the perfect phone, not the expensive, got a decent processor and more for only a cheap price. before buying a phone we must consider first on what we really want to do and if we can use its full potential, for me i wont buy S3 coz first its too much expensive now, there are many interface i find useless here in our country, and my lifestyle wont fit on that phone.
Were do I start......My first One x had dead pixels and dust under screen, 2nd big yellow blob on grey or dark screens, 3rd Vibration stopped working, dead pixels and the last one had 3 dead pixels.... The phone its self is fantastic but HTC's build quality is dire...I have lost all faith in HTC, Luckily the Carphone Warehouse managed to exchange my phone for a different model of the same spec, as I was still within 28 days and because I had had so many exchanges.
@Op
In all the 8 years I use HTC I must be very lucky once again my phone is 100% correct, no issues what so ever, I love the HTC One X.
I feel sorry for you, you have such a bad luck.
I was gonna purchase one x to replace my 4s. But not anymore.

Well, ok. A headache, for sure, but everyone who has had a defect has sent it back and got it replaced and eventually got a good one. Most people don't have problems at all. I know I don't have anything wrong with mine. Just try to buy from someone you can get it swapped out at easily so you can make sure you get a good one. The defects are annoying, but I have no doubt they will get worked out. It's all part of early adoption.
I haven't really paid attention to the defects threads, but are newer versions nearly defect free yet? Or are they just as likely to be bad?
On my 4th too, but so far (touch wood) I have a keeper I think.
1st was yellow stains on screen
2nd was unusable GPS
3rd was yellow spots (battery hitting 65C)
4th has lasted nearly two weeks so far (yay!)
It's not perfect - there is a small amount of light leakage at the bottom of the screen and GPS is not perfect, but nothing that would warrant an exchange.....yet.
Not sure if it is just the UK thats had problems, but T-Mobile confirmed when I returned my second that they had a load of returns - had to wait for stock to come back in before they could exchange.
Now I've had one though, I think I might find it hard to swap for any other phone, despite its flaws.
There will always be a sense of 'the phone it could/should have been' though - I guess they had to leave something to improve for the Two X
Only real remaining issue for me is the heat and battery life but I guess they are the sacrifices we have to make for adopting new technology.
Incredible to read, awful for you.
Touch wood indeed, hopefully it will be ok this time.
In the 8 years experience I have with HTC I never experienced such thing.
My previous devices, HTC Universal, Kaiser, Artemis, Blackstone, HD2, and now One X and no problem once again, amazing isn't?
I can't believe it, so much luck I have.
One thing you probably must admit, the service of HTC must be great if they try to fix your device 4 times in a row isn't?
And they must have done that very quick as well because the device isn't that long on the market (1, max 2 months?).
Honestly, I wish you good luck with the current device.
Edit; I see you both (Op and you) come from the UK, could it be possible HTC shipped some bad quality samples to the UK?
It's just a taught.

Well actually the praise goes to T-Mobile, they are the ones who swapped without any questions - and without checking if they were rooted
The first 3 lasted about 7 days each - I got to know the delivery driver exchanging them quite well!

It's possible. It's also possible that they rushed the launch to get out ahead of the S3 and consequently cut some corners.

I think that's a tad harsh
The HOX could and should have been a stunning phone and there is still room for most of the problems to be ironed out with software updates.
I'm not sure Tegra 3 was the wisest choice though - It just seems to run too hot for its intended use in a phone - maybe we'll have to start getting used to fans in our phones!
I'd have been happier with an S4 and this screen and design (though I'd give up a few mm for a bigger battery). Seems like for once the US has the better alternative to us
Hmm.. I don't think HTC needs to push out anything to stay ahead of Samsung.
And those words are only assumptions isn't?
Fact is, in a forum there's always more negative feedback as positive, because people who are happy with the device don't have the need to talk about it.
I love the HTC One X and I don't have the experience like you have with it.

I agree with this completely.
I know more than 5 people with a HOX and none have had any problems.
My ONE X is perfect! Got it June 1st, not a problem at all. After reading all the negative comments a while back I did find myself looking for issues that I wasnt aware of but if you look so hard you will most likely find some tiny imperfection, these threads tend to make people do that.

no its evidenced, they are trying to compete directly with the market leader since the S2 took over the market.
http://www.techradar.com/news/phone...mobile-market-share-for-first-quarter-1078612
Which evidence you are talking about, who says they are trying to compete?
I don't read anything about HTC pushed out the One X.
Sure that other company pushed out a lot of phones I read in the article.
Aggressive commercials always work but they don't say anything for me, even if it's a market leader atm, it doesn't say anything about the product.

I don't get how some phones can get hot, mine never gets more than a bit warm even when playing tegra games.
What is different??
Me neither.
The games I play:
* Max Payne (NEW ! )
* Shadowgun THD
* Flick Golf
* Grand Theft Auto III
* Mini Motor Racing
* Sonic 4 Episode II THD
* Pinball HD for Tegra
* Air Wing Pro
* Galazer
3D very recourse hungry games if you ask me.
My device should burn playing these if I read the stories in this thread.

And about multitasking, I know it sometimes has issues but I think that's more related to the app then to the machine.
For example, I do sports.
So I listen to music, check my training sessions with Runtastic, have a bluetooth heartrate sensor connected, plus a bluetooth stereo headset, checking my Facebook etc etc, multitasking works pretty good I would say, none of the apps close.
It's incredible how much apps I have installed and still my device runs great with plenty of memory and decent battery consumption.

So you think its coincidence that HTC released an unfinished phone 2 weeks prior to the Galaxy S3 from the market leading company arriving?
Of course it was a rush job to get it out before everyone this year buys an S3, its the only way they can get some of the market share that Samsung dominate.
I disagree, it all depends what strategy you take.
For example, today we have HTC One X but who knows what will come tomorrow.
It wasn't a rush, the phone is great with just a few glitches in software, HTC will iron them out in the next update ;-)

You're an unlucky man
I've had my HOX since as long as it's been available here in NL. I've dropped it, kept it without a case in my jeans pocket and it's flawless.
I assume most of this is FUD.
