What is a good workout app?
I don't really need one to track my running, I need one to remember my reps and time etc.
My favorite app as well as the only one I am aware of is jefit. You can also download another app from the same developer that will let you view a diagram showing a specific workout. Good luck if this helps please thank me.

What kind of a workout app are you looking for? You said one that remembers your reps. What are you doing specifically?

search my name "fastfed"
And look for my post "What are your favorite show off apps"
It had about 4 or so pages (maybe more) of great apps for you to try..
I got about 3-4 apps that I also call my favorite now.
"Vlingo" is one of them
Angry birds
Glider
scanner (scan police)
cam card (great tool to capture a business card and put it into contact, DOES IT AWESOME)
Slingplayer app, plays my tv phone home to my phone.. Needs hardware at 150 bucks or more
DolphinHD, my favorite browser so far.
Launcherpro (more of a UI)
Those are just a few.. Always looking for more..
Someone should make a thread and make it a sticky of "Best applications on the market"
Cool I'll check them out.

Think of how awesome this would be...
I have a 55 inch Samsung LED television. SmartTV enabled with AllShare and all that fun stuff. So here is my question...
I want to use my Epic to control my tv. And if it's not possible in the whole sense...how about just for the keyboard function. I'm trying to avoid buying a keyboard so I figure if my phone could serve that function...not only will it be so useful but sooooooo cool!!!
Basically rather than using the remote it came with to type on the Internet or chat or Facebook....I would use my phone to type. Can AllShare be used for any of this? Or does anyone know if this is possible?
I actually think I may have just found my answer in the market....
If anyone has a similar question..."samsung remote" in the market will accomplish all of these requests!!
I already use my epic to control my directv

Is this different than the app by directv? Because I have that app but I don't have an option to use it as a remote. Ill have to do some market searching.

Its on the directtv website. It allows me to control my dvr. (i can tell me dvr to record anything even if I'm not home). I can purchase movies from ppv and cineplus.

Oh...I can do that. I'm speaking more of changing channels, volume, using my keyboard in place of my remote, etc. The Samsung Remote app does this. Setting my dvr, ppv and cineplus I can do using the directv app as well.

I actually think there is. My brother in law was telling me about an Android App he found which would do all of this. I think he heard it from someone else though, as he didn't have it all hooked up yet, but I do believe he said it was somewhere in the $20 range for the app itself.
If you could use your smartphone as a remote for all that fun stuff...that would be..well..yeah, it's coming, EPIC.
Can you ask your brother in law what is the name of that app.

I did and he mentioned something called "pocketblu" but it only works via bluetooth. Since our phones don't have infrared, they won't work on standard TVs for the most part. He did mention AllShare but didn't get into the details of it.
I know he's looked into this stuff quite a bit, but the above information was through just a few texts. The next time we're together (probably Easter weekend) I'll be sure to have a better discussion with him.
So my friend and I will be going on a road trip soon across the great USA. Buffalo to Yosemite.
I have my Dinc and he just got an Asus Transformer and a Droid X2. We are obviously going to have a nice set up in our car with all this fancy tech. But we were wondering what the best apps were for such a road trip. We will be using Navigation, Pandora, My Tracks.
What would be the best real time weather application? Any other suggestions as to what we should use? Thanks in advance everyone!
Also, all our devices are rooted.
Weather Bug Elite is solid imo. Enjoy the ride!

I just got back from a long road trip and the one app i used the most was 'GasBuddy'. Saved me some money. Also 'Yelp' for places to eat with good reviews.
Urbanspoon is a good one too

Games will be of most importance! I will be checking those out.
That Gas Buddy app seems awesome so far. And it is quite accurate. We will be using that one!
See if you can still find the speed trap/traffic camera app.
Flight Control is an addictive game as well.

Dont forget about trapster it shows where cops hide....
MapDroyd - - just in case you find yourself in a no-signal area and want to know where you are. Unlike most mapping software, MapDroyd stores the map data locally (load the desired region(s) before the trip), and can use your GPS sensor.
Anyone had any experience with this app?
I've been using Tasker and NFC tags for a bit now but came across this and it looks promising, has a load of negative comments on the play store but from what I can see a lot of that is about the authentication.
Thinking of using it but just wanted to know if anyone had any first hand experience with it first?
Can you give a link of the app please?
Sure, its here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.microsoft.onx.app
Yup, I've used it. It's a nice idea, but fairly limited in what you can do i.e. you can't control most device settings

I have two incredibles Verizon branded. What can I do with them? I use att now. So reactivating them isn't really on the to do list. I've looked into rooting and flashing and seems a bit more complex than with my Samsung captivate. If there is something really neat I could use it for it might be worth the trouble. Ideas? Anyone wanna help a fella out?

MOD EDIT: This isn't the marketplace, if you want to sell them then post in the marketplace and not in any of these forums. Thanks
You could use them as an mp3 player, use wifi only and play games and surf the net, or download a gps app that stores the maps locally since you don't have service on them.

I know the GPS is much better than on the cappy I use now so there is a wonderful idea. I wonder if I could use it for data logging on my motorcycle. Like as a accurate speedometer (with delay for changes in speed) a way to log top speed and as a HD video recorder. Do you have any suggestion as to which GPS nav software to use?

I would do this, and use it as a dev phone for testing (or learning how to compile, if you don't know how) ROMs.

The only navigation app I know off the top of my head that store maps locally is navigon. I have never used it and I see mixed reviews for it.

As I have 0 programming knowledge for computers at this time and with God's good grace starting school for it in the winter quarter it does interest me however I fear by the time I am proficient enough the development of this phone and thereby this thread will be long dead. I do want to root the phone and perhaps install a ROM that removes everything but the core of what it needs to operate and a very few apps. As I have two I could use one for GPS/MP3 duty for the motorcycle. So all I'd need is the basic operating system wifi a MP3 downloaded and a good local GPS software. I would think that the GPS software alone would take quite a bit of space.

CoPilot GPS stores its maps on your sdcard (North America maps take up about 1.3 Gb) and does a mostly acceptible job of navigating without using mobile data. The free version is a bit crippled, but what do you expect for free? Street address searches and POI searches also work well even without mobile data, ideal for a non-activated phone.
Another app I use sometimes is Navfree USA. It uses Open Street Maps, so they can be hit or miss. Also, searching by street addresses is mostly broken (Open Street Maps doesn't seem to handle postal codes well). Maps are downloaded state-by-state.
So what can be removed without destroying the os? I need only GPS functions bluetooth WiFi and audio.
Perhaps gmail and the play store. Unless I can use the play store without gmail. Is there a ROM I can flash that is already slimmed way down.

I probably wouldn't remove to much. This is what I am going to do to this phone when my contract runs out with Verizon and I switch to sprint. I'm going to run cm7, which has already been suggested and use the wifi only script which can be found here:

Removing any system apps or parts of the os won't get you anymore space for storage since those are in the system partition.

I don't know how much you may hit the track on your motorcycle, but here are a few suggestions that you can find on the play store.
http://trackmaster.trackaroo.com/welcome
http://www.racerender.com/RR2/Features.html
and a review of those
http://www.motoiq.com/magazine_articles/id/2623/tested-trackmaster-by-trackaroo.aspx
Looks like an app I may pay for. Even if im not on a track it will still help as there are a few places on my commute I tend to open up and ride hard. Makes my ride home quicker. Seems it could also be used to log top speed and 1/4 mile times. So a lot of useful features.
