Did anyone flash the new recovery version in rom manager?
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
I did. Not sure about changes in the coding but the new UI is nice.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
I heard it is mainly for 2.3 ROMs and such, is that true? I'm on Magnolia which is 2.2, would I run into any issues?
weird.. i flashed the new recovery through rom manager then booted into recovery but still had 2.5 on there..
Flashed it this afternoon, using CM nightly #32. Using ROM manager to backup etc., would give me errors when it got to recovery. Some error about the sd card mounting I think. It would work fine booting to recovery, just not using ROM manager. Think the nightly update tonight might address the issue. Had to flash back to an earlier recovery to use ROM manager.
Could not install a new rom with it.

I flashed slayers test kernel with it and it seemed to work fine. Have not tried to run a back up yet.

Is there a zip to install this new recovery instead of using rom manager? I always remove rom manager from CM7.

It requires some sort of new update script, we use the donut update script so koush is pushing us towards the future with this recovery, it works with any kernel because of it being koush's update script. Some roms might work, ask your favorite developer if it is compatable

Darnit! Flashed it and now I can't install any font packs anymore. I guess it has something to do with the update script. Going back to a previous version if I can figure out how.

I can't either
Running CM 7 nightly #25. Flashed the 3.0.5 and I couldn't boot into Recovery. Just reverted to 2.5.1.2, guess we'll have to wait until something gets patched up in CM.
Worked for me. I like the look.

oh man, i can no longer access recovery. dayum...
i guess i should post some details: updated from 2.7.1.? (2 or 3, whatever) to 3.0.0.5 via free version of rom manager. just happened to have my stock rom loaded at the time.
edit: thx everyone. downloading the zip and reinstalling got me back up and running. yay! thx! i am disappoined, though, that md5 operations still take 15-20 minutes. i was hoping that would be fixed in this release.

So my roms i download will install and boot up but once i get to that specific roms boot screen it just does an infinite loop. i then take the battery out, boot it into recovery and go back to my back up. I am not sure why it is doing this and would just love to be able to use cm7 (which did the infinite boot as well). its rooted using unrevoked and i have used a few other roms on it as well this has just been what has been happening lately. any help would be much appreciated!!
Had the same prob with cm7 #22, but 23 is working just fine, try that one. Remember the Dec said some may be broken, just fish around, but be very careful.

Sorry, meant to say the "dev" said some cm7 nightlys are experimental and may be broken. Flash to the last rom that functioned for you, then use rom manager to download the latest cm7 nightly. Which is what I'm using now and am very satisfied with.

see i tried the latest one and a few others. im not sure what it could be, that makes them go to the infinite boot screen. Should i try factory reset, root it again, restore my old version, then try to boot more roms?

Flash CM7 in recovery. Then BEFORE you reboot, install a different kernel
This is your best choice for CM7 - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=905873
Then reboot your Inc and see if it boots up, I have heard of a couple people who couldn't get their Inc to boot up with the stock CM& kernel, no clue why though.
hahaha so i got it to work. it was rom manager not letting me go through with it all. just did it manually through recovery. but i got sm7 to install and no notification bar. hence why im laughing. just gonn install miui and give her a shot.
Not sure if its the fact i am running CM 7 or what but whenever i try a different kernel then there stock everything boots just fine but the touch screen doesn't work. I am lost and have no clue what to try.
What kernel are you trying to flash?

If running cm7, ya gotta flash a gingerbread AOSP kernel - try that.

I believe it was the AOSP kernel part that i was missing. I finally got a Invisiblek to install. Thanks for the help.

Invisiblek is the way to goon Gingerbread roms. I've flashed his newest with OMFGB 1.1.1, and it is awesome. No problems snappy, excellent battery too!
Sometimes people (including me) mix up AOSP and Sense, sadly they don't like to play with others if you install them with the wrong rom. Racists, pft.
I have only had the phone about a week now so I have had a lot to learn. So far everything seems good now and I am happy. Now if i could just get better battery life lol.
I was trying to install the following http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=972746 I am getting same issue installs fine boots. Then when I try to unlock screen I get nothing. I have HtC incredible running cm 7 rc 3

The link you provided is the EVO kernel. Have you tried the Inc kernel?
Evo: http://www.thebcblends.com/cayniarb/Kernels/evo/Tiamat_Evo-v3.3.3-sbc.zip
Inc: http://www.thebcblends.com/cayniarb/Kernels/inc/Tiamat_Inc-v3.3.3-sbc.zip
The zip files have different contents.
EDIT - I just realized the thread you linked has both the Inc and the Evo versions. I saw that it was in the Evo subforum and jumped to the wrong conclusion. In any regard, make sure you are flashing the right one.
I just flashed
Inc: http://www.thebcblends.com/cayniarb/Kernels/inc/Tiamat_Inc-v3.3.3-sbc.zip
and i am still having same problem. Any ideas ?
Edit: Messing around with rooted phones is something I have just started so it maybe something simple I am missing.
Not sure why my cell doesn't seem to like other kernels but
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=905873
seems to be doing just fine so i will leave it alone.
Thanks for all the help.
Have you tried Incredikernel? Kernels are really a matter of personal preference, but Incredikernel seems to be one of the best. (And also my favorite.)
I gave it a shot a while back and had trouble. My issue is that he touch screen doesn't respond. Incredikernel is recommended in several places but i had zero luck with it supporting the screen. I have started to wonder if its support for slcd.
I will try it again and see what happens.
I running CM7 (nightly 58) and I already have CWM flashed, but when I open ROM Manager, it claims I don't and wants to flash it for me. Is there any harm in doing this? I have CWM version 3.0.0.5 showing when I reboot, and ROM Manager 4.1.0.0 installed.
Maybe it wants you to update to the latest version? (3.0.0.8)
I don't know, I don't use rom manager..

It won't hurt to reflash on top of it, even if it is already flashed.
The other thing that could be happening, if you delete the clockworkmod folder on your sdcard it will ask you to reflash. It uses the folder to keep track of what version you have.
What it wants to do is flash 3.0.0.8. You can do it with no problems. If you want to switch back to 3.0.0.5, just go to the section at the bottom that shows all clockwork recoveries and choose one.
I'm completely new to rooting and still have a lot to learn.
Today I wanted to check out ROM Manager to search for ROMs - mostly just to try it. Since Virtuous Sense 2.0.0 runs buttery smooth on my DZ I'm not really looking for another ROM at the moment. It runs much faster than Virtuous Unity 2.37 and Virtuous Doubleshot 1.1.6b which I tried out initially.
I used this guide to root my phone after I downgraded it using Setherio's excellent guide and thought I had CWM installed. However, ROM Manager prompts me to install CWM. I double checked the rooting guide and see that it mentions Clockwork Recovery and not ClockworkMod. Are these two not the same thing?
My Clockwork Recovery version is 3.0.2.4 and it works just fine. Will I override this when installing CWM from ROM Manager?
I don't want to break anything now that I managed to get rid of most of the annoying bugs in the official HTC release.
Clockwork and Clockworkmod are the same.
There is a bug in Rom manager in that it doesn't actually look at the recovery partition, it just reports you as having what ever recovery it last flashed.
The rooting instructions does flash recovery, but Rom Manager doesn't realise. There is no harm in overwriting it.
Stick with 3.0.2.4 though, 5.0.x.x is still buggy as hell at the moment for the vision.

Clockwork Recovery and ClockworkMod are the same thing (as is CWM, which is often ised as well).
I'd suggest just flashing the most recent CWM (v3.0.2.4, I think is the latest) via ROM Manager to shut up ROM Manager, it shouldn't hurt anything.

Thank you both for your answers
I'll try reinstalling CWM from ROM Manager when I'm home from work tonight.

Thank you, I took that from Nipqer's post as well. Just came over the EXT4 Recovery thread. Might be I should try that out.

You should check out 4EXT Recovery. It's awesome. I've been using it for two days now and I'm not turning back. It has many additional options, though it's built from CWM. It's the best of ClockworkMod and more.
If you want some more info on it take a look at this thread.

I am kind of new to this and it this has been frustrating me all day. I had CM7 on my HTC Evo 4G for a while and it started to run slow so I decided I needed something new (other then a new phone). So I tried MiUi (latest version) and I loved it. Ran smooth and was quick. I installed my titanium backup and it was not getting root permission. I tried installing busybox (wouldnt install) and i also installs CWM and Super User. Nothing helped. Someone had told me I needed a Kernel. So I went and tried a couple. I tried the Mason Kernel and the phone would just give me a blank screen. The only kernels that worked were Tiamat Kernels, the SBC ones lagged heavily straight off the bat, the other 2 did not lag at first but after a few minutes it started to lag heavily as well. Then afterwards MiUi would not respond. What am I doing wrong? Honestly I just want to restore my apps with titanium back up and have it get root rights. What do I do?

OK, that was stupid advice.
It's pretty simple actually, after you reflash the ROM, go to Supewruser app and set permissions. Hit menu and make sure permissions are on. Then you have to reboot
