[q] cwm 3.0.0.5 - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

ROM Manager told me that 3.0.0.5 is available, and wanted me to flash it, replacing 2.5.1.2.
I've googled it and I don't see any information that helps me understand if I want to upgrade...
Anybody know what is new in 3.0.0.5?

From what i understand, that version of clockwork is only to be used in Gingerbread. I had just flashed the new version an hour ago n couldnt boot into recovery, so i had to flash back to my original recovery
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App

It works great!
It requires a new kind of update script, we use the old donut update script so koush decided we need to upgrade. So CM7 requires it and eventually we will all update
Sent from my Incredible using XDA App

I've been lazy and am still using 2.5.0.5. I saw the post that said the 3.0.x.x is for Gingerbread, so it won't work on 2.2 ROMs? I go back and forth between 2.3 and 2.2 ROMs. Recovery versions are one of the few things that confuse me with all this stuff.
CM7 nightly

I have it, booted into recovery no problem. Haven't tried to make a backup yet though.

Let me know how it goes when you make a backup. I'm running the same ROM and figured I would wait a day or two before updating.

Just finished the backup and booted up. Backup was created. Not sure if it matters or not, but I'm on an AMOLED version.

No problem. I have no say as to how restores or ROM installs will go though, so I'd still be cautious. :/

Thank you......that was way to easy!

Side effect of CWM3 is that UOT Kitchen and mattyg and presumably most other flashable battery, status bar, and theme mods will no longer work. I get an error about a scrutiny that was depriciated by Google in version 1.5.

I honestly don't know, I've never encountered that before. Try a lower version, like 2.5.1.2?

scrolling issue in 3.0....?
Any one have this problem?
When I enter into the new CWM, the optical trackpad stops responding after a couple of seconds. No idea why. I can SOMETIMES use the vol +/- to scroll up and down tho, but that eventually fails on me too. Sometimes, the whole recovery just freezes on me too. I've tried doing a full wipe from recovery and reinstalled the ROM, re-flashed the recovery. Downgraded to an older recovery and re-flashed the newest (wiping the current each time) but no luck.
Any thoughts? Anyone have this too?
I don't know if it matters, but I have the AMOLED, .92hboot, 11.19 radio, s-off, and running CM7.
If I forgot to mention something, or if there's anything else anyone needs to help me just let me know.
Thanks!

How do I backup my radios before flashing myn's 5?

Okay I need to know how to backup my radios if something goes wrong. I would also like to know if myn's 5 is ready for testing. Thanks in advance.
from my EVO using XDA app.
Maybe this didn't aswer your question, but I just finished flashing Myn's RL5 without upgrading the radios.. if you flash a custom kernel (one in a few that myn's list in his OP) and DID NOT boot between flashing the ROM and the kernel, you can used RL5 just fine with the old radio.
I think the new HTC kernel that need radio update.
Okay soo you are saying that if I flash myn's rom and DON'T reboot after flashing a kernel then I won't have to worry about updating the radios?

do this :
1. wipe everything
2. flash myn's rl5
3. flash custom kernel
4. reboot
voila.. rl5 without upgrading radio..
btw, don't forget to do nandroid backup before doing that..
Thanks for the assistance. I tried the rom for ten minutes. It is was not that good. I blame the kernal that I used.

Try Netarchy's 4.3-havs-more with or without sbc.
Just fyi, i tried overclocking these and it messes with the phone not writing pictures to the sd. The first set of pics are fine, but once you connect to the computer and save them, the rest of the pics you take show up in the phone but not on the sd. It took me forever to figure this out, lol.
Good luck on finding the right match.

Myn's RLS 5 problem.

I flashed the radios then my phone wouldn't even boot. I had to revert to my backup. Also even after flashing the RLS 4 host files before updating, the browser was still really slow. I need help and any help would be appreciated.

Did you:
1. Wipe all.
2. Flash rom.
3. Flash radio all in one without rebooting.
4. Reboot.
??
As for the slow browser, download adfree from market, install and click on revert, reboot, and optionally update adfree and reboot once more if you want to remove ads. The host files that came with rls5 are outdated and playing havoc with your sanity.

What exactly did you flash? If you did what the previous poster said, you should be able to boot. When you say you weren't able to boot, what exactly happened? Did it give you a bootloop, where the boot animation plays over and over, or did it hang at the white 'htc evo 4g' screen? The only reason you need the updated radio's for RLS5 is because the stock htc 15 kernel that comes with RLS5 needs the newer radios. You could flash a custom kernel before you boot the rom, and avoid updating radios all together. I use the old PRI and old radio with RLS5, i just use netarchy's kernels, and it works very well!
Everything they're saying correct and follow their instructions. I just want to add, you may want to stay on PRI 1.77, as a lot people are experience bad battery life with 1.99.

[Q] hi my names nick im new to xda developers

hi my names nick Im new to xda developers i was wondering what is the best rom for the incredible and wats the best way to flash it btw i have clockworkrecovery mod 3.005 is that a good recovery im running stock sence rom good rom but can be laggy and i have a 3500wah battery wat is the best rom i have rooted using unrevoked 3.21
The best way to find out is to try out diff roms and kernels, these processors all have a mind of its own so diff roms and kernels may be better for your phone versus the next guy/girl. Out of all the roms ive tried, incredibly re-engineered has been my fave. Great batt life. Stable and fast plus many theming options.

You can run a different kernel while using the stock rooted ROM. And I believe Re-Engineered is an Incredible/Evo hybrid; not sure though, so don't quote me on that lol. I actually just checked, it is. You can read about its features and such here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=893233
EDIT: I'm not sure if that ROM is compatible with ClockworkMod 3.0.0.5 yet, so I would recommend downgrading to the previous official release of CWM, 2.5.1.2. You can do this through ROM Manager, scroll all the way to the bottom and it'll say "All ClockworkMod Recoveries," click on it and choose 2.5.1.2 and you should be golden.

When you downgrade to 2.5.1.2 should you do a nandroid backup first? I'm really looking forward to running Incredibly Re-engineered and I have read that you have to run CWM 2.5.1.2 which I understand is the OLDEST version, is that correct?
It isn't the oldest, but if the ROM developer hasn't updated their scripts for the new CWM version 3, then flashing 2.5.1.2 is a good idea. No, you shouldn't have to do a nandroid. Just flash the 2.5.1.2 recovery in ROM Manager.
When I do a titanium backup, should I only do App's? Or should I do data and app's? Some ROM's say do just APP's and not data, so which should I do for Incredibly Re-Engineered? I can't post on the Incredibly Re-Engineered page directly so this is my way of doing it I guess =/

Just do Apps. When restoring the Apps, just restore the App only. Sometimes when you try to restore the App + Data, it can cause issues. That happens more times than not, so your best bet is just the App. You can always try to restore both, but if you start seeing weird issues with it, uninstall the App and restore just the App, without Data.
I assume when I flash a new Rom I will have to redownload Titan backup and there will he a restore app option correct? This is my first time flashing a Rom so I don't wanna mess up haha. Is it easier to flash a Rom/full wipe method other than Rom manager? I almost feel more comfortable doing it manually or can I trust that Rom manager Wont mess anything up?

You might have to redownload Titanium backup, depends if the ROM chef baked it in or not. But either way, there is a restore apps option. I always choose "Restore missing apps with data." I heard restoring system apps with data could give you a nice headache with fc's and stuff, so I'd recommend just backing up user apps. And I heard a few months ago that ROM Manager wasn't getting the job done for flashing/wiping stuff correctly, so since then I've never really used it and got accustomed to manually doing the wipe/flash through CWM. I just like knowing that I wiped it and knowing it was done right by myself. I haven't heard much about the ROM Manager thing anymore, so they might've fixed it, but I'm not sure.
Sorry for the delayed response :/.

Invisiblek is the way to goon Gingerbread roms. I've flashed his newest with OMFGB 1.1.1, and it is awesome. No problems snappy, excellent battery too!
Sometimes people (including me) mix up AOSP and Sense, sadly they don't like to play with others if you install them with the wrong rom. Racists, pft.
I have only had the phone about a week now so I have had a lot to learn. So far everything seems good now and I am happy. Now if i could just get better battery life lol.
I was trying to install the following http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=972746 I am getting same issue installs fine boots. Then when I try to unlock screen I get nothing. I have HtC incredible running cm 7 rc 3

The link you provided is the EVO kernel. Have you tried the Inc kernel?
Evo: http://www.thebcblends.com/cayniarb/Kernels/evo/Tiamat_Evo-v3.3.3-sbc.zip
Inc: http://www.thebcblends.com/cayniarb/Kernels/inc/Tiamat_Inc-v3.3.3-sbc.zip
The zip files have different contents.
EDIT - I just realized the thread you linked has both the Inc and the Evo versions. I saw that it was in the Evo subforum and jumped to the wrong conclusion. In any regard, make sure you are flashing the right one.
I just flashed
Inc: http://www.thebcblends.com/cayniarb/Kernels/inc/Tiamat_Inc-v3.3.3-sbc.zip
and i am still having same problem. Any ideas ?
Edit: Messing around with rooted phones is something I have just started so it maybe something simple I am missing.
Not sure why my cell doesn't seem to like other kernels but
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=905873
seems to be doing just fine so i will leave it alone.
Thanks for all the help.
Have you tried Incredikernel? Kernels are really a matter of personal preference, but Incredikernel seems to be one of the best. (And also my favorite.)
I gave it a shot a while back and had trouble. My issue is that he touch screen doesn't respond. Incredikernel is recommended in several places but i had zero luck with it supporting the screen. I have started to wonder if its support for slcd.
I will try it again and see what happens.

Issue

I am having an issue that I find weird. I am running SR 4.2 ROM. Every time that I make a nand backup and then restore to it. I get a BootLoop. Dunno why. Anyone else have this issue?

If you have an amoled device, CMW 3.0.0.7 is said to work better, however, if your device is slcd.. they say go with 3.0.0.8. Either way, make sure your sd card has a sufficient amount of space for your nand. From my experience with CWM, it doesn't always let you know if there isn't enough space if your only short by a few kbs.
