Issue - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am having an issue that I find weird. I am running SR 4.2 ROM. Every time that I make a nand backup and then restore to it. I get a BootLoop. Dunno why. Anyone else have this issue?

If you have an amoled device, CMW 3.0.0.7 is said to work better, however, if your device is slcd.. they say go with 3.0.0.8. Either way, make sure your sd card has a sufficient amount of space for your nand. From my experience with CWM, it doesn't always let you know if there isn't enough space if your only short by a few kbs.

Phone mic dialing out does not work...

But when people call me, it works fine. Has anyone dealt with something like this? I can't make it so people hear me when I dial out, but when they call me it's fine... very odd. Let me know if you need any more information (running CM7, stock CM7 kernel, 11.19 radio, etc.) I don't think it's app-related though.
Thanks in advance!

Can you make a backup, flash back to stock, and see if it still happens then? If so, hardware problem I would assume and you can take it back to VZW to get a refurb.
If it works fine, try reflashing CM7 and nothing else and see if the problem still persists.
I can probably do that... it's a pain in the ass, but it's definitely doable... they have the downgrade for stock 2.2 right? The last time I downgraded was in August and it was to 2.1 lol.

I don't believe so, I never wiped the SD card when going back to stock or any rom for that matter. I never had a problem, but I don't see how wiping that and starting clean could hurt anything.

[Q] Can't upgrade clockwork mod from 2.5

Okay, so I was trying to upgrade to the latest nightly for my mother, since she loves gingerbread now. So here is my issue, I know that I need clockwork mod 3.0 or higher to get the nightlies to work, I have gotten #14 to install with the old recovery she has on there now. But when I try to update the recovery it will either not upgrade or revert back to 2.5 upon reboot. For example:
If I try using fastboot to install, I get an error. I don't remember exact error, but its a long the lines of it can't install.
If I try using the PB31IMG.zip method, but it just detects the zip and wont install or anything.
If I install the recovery via the recovery, it will work for the one time it loads, then upon reboot it reverts to old one.
I tried installing the newest nightly with the old recovery, but it will just load and then soft boot and repeat forever till I pull battery.
I rooted the phone with the unrevokr root and recovery method, so I don't know if that has anything to do with my problems.
Any help would be appreciated.

Yea...I forgot to mention, that doesn't work either. It will download, then flash it, but upon boot to recovery, its the old recovery.
Hmmm thats starange...... when you flashed it in hboot did you have your SD formatted fat32? If not bootloader won't read it.

Indeed it did, I would then open winrar, and just drop the new .img file in and overwrite the old one. Maybe I should make a new zip file and add the other config file or whatever it is to the new zip. Otherwise, I am SOL lol.

Before you flash a new recovery with ROM Manager go into ROM manager settings and check the box to erase the old recovery before flashing the new one.
Then scroll to the bottom of the main ROM Manager menu and select all clockworkmod recoveries. Flash 3.0.0.8 since it has fixes for 3.0.0.5 issues.

No dice, goes to [checking PB31IMG.zip] then just goes back to main bootloader menu.

Still not working, just does checking the zip and then goes back to hboot. I am going to try formating the internal memory, and put a copy on there and see if that does anything. Would having S-ON have anything to do with my problem?
Well I fixed it, was that I had S-On still enabled. I guess I'm so used to my nexus that I forgot that I needed that off to do that.

sorry im new to htc evo

well I just traded my epic for evo and im woundering how to root this phone, im confused because I have hardware version 0004 and the video I saw he had 0003, and then there two different recoveries, so idk witch is more popular with roms, Any help is apperciated
Go to unrevoked.com and use unrevoked to root your device. It is simple to do and arguably, the most trusted method. If you do use the unrevoked method, it will put the Clockworkmod recovery on your device. Although clockworkmod is darn good, I suggest that you flash amon RA v2.3 as your recovery. Instructions are very easy and installation takes less than 10 seconds to complete. Just post your questions and someone will assist you as quickly as possible.

Lots of good information in the thread below, the hardware version shouldn't be an issue anymore and it seems to be split as far which recovery to use. AmonRA has been more reliable in the past and has more options while clockwork will allow you to flash ROMs through ROM Manager.

We told you it was easy...LOL....Anyway, for a sense based rom, I recommend Myn's Warm TwoPointTwo RLS 5 and for an AOSP ron, I recommend Salvage-Mod 1.2.1. Be sure to make a nandroid backup of your current setup first to fall back on in case you don't like the roms you decide to try. After making your nandroid backup, wipe EVERYTHING except the SD card itself and then flash whatever rom you decide to try.

When I used to use the ClockworkMod recovery, I made it a habit of wiping at least twice before flashing, but with the latest amon RA recovery, I simply wipe once. Remember these unofficial rules:
Changing roms: Wipe EVERYTHING except the SD card itself.
Updating a rom with a nightly build: wipe cache & dalvik.
Changing kernels: wipe cache, dalvik & battery stats.
Anything else: wipe cache & dalvik

If you're using a sense based rom, I recommend a Netarchy kernel. I do not overclock, but many people do.You can achieve overclocking with setCPU. An. AOSP rom like Salvage-Mod has a built in setting for it.

[Q] Sense 3.0 GB ROM stuck at white screen

Hey guys
I've been trying to flash Incubus's new Sense 3.0 GB ROM, and I've been having some issues...
I've done a full data/cache wipe and a dalvik cache wipe, with both CWMR 3.0.0.8 and 3.0.0.7, and all it does is boot to the white 'HTC Incredible' and it's stuck there. I've tried flashing from AOSP 2.3.3 ROMs (both Cyanogen 7, The Ultimate Droid 3, and MIUI) and the leaked Sense 1.0 ROM and still nothing.
The longest I've waited at this screen is 30 minutes. Should I try using CWMR 2.5 or what?
Thanks,
Dragonice81

The sense 2.1 ROM worked!!!!!
It must just be an issue with Sense 3.0
With both TMartins and the sense 3.0 rom, I pulled the battery, and reflashed, but it takes a really long time. I'm pretty sure you just need to wait and be patient.
Im going to try to flash to a 3.0 ROM from 2.1
But I'm not in a hurry. Sense 2.1 is still pretty good

My friend wants to install a sense 3.0 ROM on his G2. He asked me because I've already done rooting and installed ROMs. My phone is the HTC Incredible, so rooting is different and the ROMs are created differently. I can across this but got stumped on what exactly to do. I want to make sure i do it right. All help is appreciated.

After doing adb reboot recovery you will be back in to clockworkmod recovery.
You will get some error messages, don't worry though it's normal
You then need to do a factory reset. Then either restore your nandroid backup or flash a new rom

Sweet, kinda what I thought too. Thanks for the reply! I'm too impatient for sense roms, plus I like to play a lot of emulators and a vanilla asop build always seems smoother to me, but just my preference
