MyTouch 1.2
Sapphire PVT 32A Ship S-On G
HBoot 1.33.0013 (Sapp31000)
Radio-2.22.23.02
When I attempt to fastboot flash a new boot animation it get a remote: not allowed issue. I have root and I'm running custom recovery and roms.. I really don't see how this would be an issue. I flash the Engineering SPL 2010 so I don't see why I'm getting the same thing as a Perfected SPL.
Here's a SS of what I got happening
Any fastboot commands done with the 1.2 seem to need to have been done when you are rooting, you could do it via adb shell but first to make it clear are you trying to flash a custom boot animation(What you see after the splash screen) or a new splash screen(What you see when you first turn the phone on)?
Looking to replace the rom's custom animation that comes right after the HTC Magic branding.

Navigate to data/local and place the boot animation as bootanimation.zip.

When I got that I had to boot from the gold card again and after that it worked fine.
I've got an O2 Ireland-branded HTC Desire.
This means when I turn it on, the first thing you see is a big O2 logo. After a few seconds this disappears and changes to the the boot animation.
Flashing ROMs changes the boot animation, but it doesn't affect this initial logo.
Does anyone know how to change this logo?
I'm assuming it's stored on some part of the phone which is... hard to change? Is it part of HBOOT? Can it be replaced with the unbranded version?
if your phone is rooted then the easiest way would be to install root explorer and copy and paste the bootanimation zip file you want to use over the original one. or you can buy bootanimation changer app from market and do it that way............sudeki300
I know how to change the boot animation. But that's not the problem. What I'm trying to change is the logo that appears *before* the boot animation. You know, the thing you see the instant you turn your phone on.

Hi, I was in this case, the best way is to re-flash the droid with an original (you will have the HTC logo in place of your operator), after that you can use a custom rom.
Does anyone know which part exactly of the offical HTC update would replace this logo? Is it HBOOT? SPL? Something else?
Could this be extracted from the HTC update and flashed separately?
the only way i know of is to debrand the phone by rooting it and flashing a custom rom. or just get hold of a generic htc desire official rom and flash that....................sudeki300

the file in question is bootanimation.zip. It's not simple to extract it and re-compile the rom; 2 solutions:
- use a kitchen to create your own rom.
- try to replace bootanimation by another one, I try it since few days without success, I'm working on it because the HTC logo is no so sexy.
The original rom from HTC is RUU_Bravo_HTC_Europe_1.15.405.3_Radio_32.30.00.28U_4.05.00.11_release_121865
Not that i know the answer, but just to clear things up:
-he is rooted.
-he has changed bootanimation.zip.
He is talking about the logo before bootanimation. Normally 'HTC' in green, in his case 'O2' (I guess in red).
The question is: where is that 'pre-bootanimation-logo' stored and possibly how to change it?
Flashing rom or flashing bootscreenanimation.zip does not work.

You will have to flash a stock rom and put up with the htc logo, as it stands we cannot flash the splash screen seperately because we do not have an unlocked spl yet

Hello sir - are you saying that I could get rid of the ugly Telstra boot splash screen and replace it with a stock HTC splash screen if I flashed a factory ROM? (Yes, I am talking about the boot splash, and NOT the boot animation).
Anything would be preferable to the splash of a carrier I am not even using.
If so, would I need to re-root, or would I have to de-root first, then re-root?

Is there any new solutions for that ?
The HTC logo is so ugly :/

The unrEVOked team should be coming out with an s-off HBOOT soon, which should allow you change this.

I have got my new Desire and have been trying to remove the ugly T-Mobile branding from my phone. I have used Unrevoked and flashed a new ROM successfully. However, I still have the T-Mobile splash screen (not boot screen). I understand to modify this I have to be S-OFF, but my bootloader says I am S-ON. Can I still change the splash via the recovery menu? Or is more hacking required? Also, does anyone have the stock HTC boot screen (and sound) in a recovery-flashable zip format.
Thanks guys!
bumping for fun and profit.
Hi all,
i found 0 search result for changing boot splash image on galaxy nexus, but I already changed this boot image on my HTC G1, so i know how to do it.
my question is if it is possible and, if so, using which command?
I used:
Code:
fastboot flash splash1 mysplash.rgb565
(..or something like that.. dont remember ..)
for G1 but i don't know if it works for GN as well.
..and, in my G1 I also changed the 2nd bootloader, the SPL, with the death one .. is there any modified SPL for GN ??
my GN is rooted, CWM recovery, AOKP (maguro 21) and I9250XXKK6 radio
thank YA
I've been trying to get this Dinc 2 to work for sometime now. I bought it used so I don't know what version of software it has.
It displays the white "HTC" screen for a few seconds, then goes dark. A few seconds later the white HTC screen shows, etc etc etc. I can get into FASTBOOT with PWR/Vol-.
I've tried flashing various versions of the ROM (saving the file as PB32IMG.ZIP on the SD card). It seems to read the file but then comes up with the "wrong image" message.
The previous owner says he unlocked the the phone using the online HTC unlock, and it does say "UNLOCKED" at the top of the FASTBOOT screen. I read someplace that you had to relock the phone in order to flash the PB32IMG.ZIP file but I don't know how to do this.
I can't use ADB because I can't get my computer to recognize the phone.
Any suggestions would be greatly welcomed!
are you s-off??

are you s-off? If not then you cannot flash PG32IMG.zip (it has to be PG32IMG.zip not PB32IMG.zip) try installing these drivers: https://www.dropbox.com/s/kg37o7tsn3dq1nt/HTCDriver3.0.0.007.exe
then boot into fastboot and connect your phone to pc. the phone should display fastboot usb from there you can flash rom via adb.
remember if you don't have s-off and bootloader says unlocked then refer to this guide for flashing roms : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1435228
EDIT: did you flash a rom which caused bootlooping??

I'm S-on.
ADB doesn't work. I can't boot into Android.
I didn't flash a rom on this phone; I can't get past the bootlooping. I doubt the previous owner flashed a rom, either.

Nope. Apparently version 6.04.605.07 is installed, and the bootloader won't let me install an older version. And there apparently is not an RUU for 6.04.605.07 (if anybody knows of one, please let me know).
