i'm having trouble getting gapps on CM7 rom. i'm not even sure if i have the correct gapps.zip. and i can't find anything that tells me how to get them on it. someone help please?
Is this a new install of CM7? What Clockworkmod are you running? You need to be using 3.0.0.5.
I had problems as well. Get the gapps from the link provided in the cm7 thread and choose the very top left one, the universal dpi one. First, flash cm onto your phone, and then once you have flashed and booted the rom, go back into recovery and flash the gapps package. You'll be good to go.

I used rom manager to flash Salvage mod 1.2.1 after rooting with Unrevoked and I followed you guys instructions completely but after 4g boot screen it went gray and stayed that way. Please help AGAIN! Should I reboot or pull battery? Sorry about all the questions/problems!
My instructions did not include ROM manager. Go back to your other thread and follow the instructions I posted. Follow teh roxxorz instructions for flashing the gapps.zip.

See your other thread for our instructions. Don't use rom manager, because sometimes it doesn't flash correctly.
In your other thread follow dougjamal's instruction for flashing the rom, and my instruction for flashing the gapps. You'll be all set.
Your right I am doing thru recovery as we speak! Sorry I figured using rom manager would be same but thats what I get. It did seem to do it right it went right to recovery and wiped and then installed but when it went to reboot it went grey. Anyway i am doing directly thru recovery instead of rom manager.
Well same result it says install from sd complete then I reboot and 4g screen then gray. I don't know what to do should I try another rom or am I screwed? I have been scared of this and I guess I should have let it alone. I use my phone for work!

Glad that the rom flashed.
To flash the gapps, wipe your cache and dalvik cache, then flash the gapps zip.

If CM7 flashed for you, then Salvage-Mod should have flashed for you. I can only assume that the download got corrupted. It happens. Anyway, it's good to know you're up and running. Please don't be dissuaded from trying other roms. Take care.

Well now you're learning. As dougjamal suggested, the salvage download probably became corrupted. But now you know.
This is pretty much rooted stock. As with all of "my" (HTC's) plainjane roms, there won't be improvements until the next OTA.

Its a stock rom, for those with s-off. Mainly to get ppl back to stock but rooted, if they desire to.
Is it the chinese - english Stock Rom froyo ?
Just get s-off and tried to flash this rom. Everything went fine but i see no su in programs (( No any root sw wont work. Maybe im doing something wrong ? Ive opened zip and su and busybox is there in xbin folder but no su after rom flashed .
Getting stuck on the htc splash screen any time I try to install this...
I also am getting stuck at the HTC boot splash. I'm kind of new to the custom roms though.
I used fastboot and flashed the boot.img to the boot partition. Then took the /system and repackaged it into a yaffs2 image. Flashed the result to the system partition. Don't know if thats exactly what to do.

You just have to flash it in recovery. Nothing tricky or difficult like what the previous poster described. The instructions for flashing can be found in almost any ROM thread.

I have to return my phone to Verizon because the power/usb cable connection stopped working. I'm downloading this ROM to my sdcard and will flash with this.

Go to dev section. Go to TWRP 2.3.3.0 thread. Download the .zip file in the OP. Flash it when you are in CWM.
You did the impossible and now you will always go into TWRP.

Hey hey hey yuyuyuyu1 why not thank cricketAC he gave you the same answer as LoopDogg... that aint right! His answer is 100% correct only thing he did not do is hold your hand with a link. No disrespect to LoopDogg at all.
A little research and reading and in any recovery thread would of given you the answer and too me its so much more gratifying when you figure stuff out for yourself and honestly going from one recovery to another is as simple if not simpler than flashing a rom. Remember though you can not restore from another recovery...

I'm planning to replace CWR with TWRP and ROM Manager with GooManager. After I install GooManager and TWRP, will I need to manually delete the backups made by CWR (blobs etc.)?
Yes, if you want space on your internal storage (or wherever you're storing them). Better off deleting them because they're not compatible anyways.
Just delete the clockwork folder in your internal storage or SD card.
So is Twrp actually the better recovery to use as apposed to cwm?
I've personally found TWRP to be more consistent than CWM's touch interface... (use it on ~ 3 devices a this point... T989, T999, and hp touchpad..)
Works pretty well...

It's all up to preference honestly. I haven't had any issues with all the available recoveries but I prefer CWM 5.0.2.7 because of the Darkside scripts. (They were made specifically for CWM 5.0.2.7, but also work with TWRP last time I checked.) Never had an issue with the recovery and all the ROMs I've flashed have all worked perfectly well.

Good advice re: deleting CWM
I tried to flash a CWM recovery (not realizing it was a CWM recovery) with TWRP, and it was a mess.
I agree re: figuring it out for yourself. (I de-bricked my KF2 yesterday, thanks to a Xubuntu - Adb tutorial.)

Ok, So I went back to Gingerbread because I wanted to do a "clean install" rerooted my phone and decided to try out the latest (20130103) Nightly CM10.
I flashed the rom first, because im an idiot noob.
ended up flashing to JediX which I already had on my phone so i could get back to download mode.
Downloaded the Radio and Gapps.
Followed the wiping procedure on the TeamChopsticks site
When I rebooted I got the Blue CM circle, its been going on for 20 mins.
What do I do to get this working?
I am ashamed. :cyclops:

what you should try to do is to into recovery mode
then factory wipe also wipe dalvik cache
after that flash your radio first
then flash your rom
then flash the gapps
after that reboot and it should take a while the first time
if it freezes try taking out the battery and reboot it again

Just tried installing slim bean 3.1.0 and i have the same problem
why dont you try going back to your stock rom that hopefully that you backed up!
if you did just restore that then try and flash a custom rom then!
Hopefully that works because if not then im not really sure i can help you :'(

Have you tried twrp recovery? With that one you don't have to worry about using the darkside scripts. Just full wipe and flash the rom. If you have root, the goomanager app can install it for you.

just go to android development and in the thread for this phone there is a link to flash it so your in luck!
I finally figured out how to install CWMR Touch, and I was able to get CM 10 to work flawlessly!

If you have root access, the easiest way is to download an app called goomanager beta from the play store and install it from there. Open the app, press the menu button and hit "install open recovery script".

Hey there. Recently ordered myself an N1. Love it. got the CM Edition as I was going to use CM anyway, but a couple of issues have arisen.
Firstly, O-Click doesn't seem to work with CM, is that known and is there a fix?
And secondly, I have purchased a few root apps on the play store, but I can't seem to root the N1 with the APK Exploit that was posted here. Is there any known way to root the device?
Also, is it safe to flash CM11 on the CM recovery?

No, i don't mean PhilZ. I ordered the CM limited Edition version of the N1, which came with a CyanogenMod recovery rather than Oppo's recovery. (Use volume buttons to navigate) It's not a touch recovery. Which is the main reason I wish to install TWRP, but I understand you need to root for that?
As for the o-click, is there any fix? Yes CM may have fixed it but not on the OTA update :/
Edit: I accidentally selected 'Reboot into Bootloader' rather than the recovery, and now my device is stuck on the "###fastboot..." screen. (Replace ### with 3 Chinese letters that I don't know ) I have no idea what to do. No buttons seem to do anything. :/
Edit2: Fixed by holding VolUp + Power
You can fastboot flash twrp, then flash supersu.zip for root. If it still doesn't work you need to go into cm settings and turn off the cm root preference so it accepts the supersu app

I tried flashing supersu with the CM recovery but it failed to flash. It's it due to the recovery or something else? Also, is there a tutorial of how to flash with fast boot somewhere? Cheers for the help guys! Really appreciate it!
