[Q] search button and myweb 360 - Windows Phone 7 General

Hi! Im using HTC Trophy, vodafone brand. Bought it off a friend. It is now unlocked, on a different carrier, on a different country with no Vodafone service. When i go to the browser and tap the search key, it always goes to myweb.360.com. On a friend's HTC Mozart, i found out that tapping it brings out search. Anyway i could change this on my HTC Trophy to bring out search instead of vodafone's myweb.360.con which i dont use and dont even have in my country?

Vodaphone TP2
Guys, i'm looking at also getting a TP2 but looking on the Vodaphone Uk website it looks totally unbranded, are you referring to logos on the handset or just software customisations for Vodaphone ?

There's a few Vodafone customisations:
1. Physical logos on the phone.
2. Red Vodafone logo on phone startup
3. 'Vodafone theme' in use, which makes some stuff red, no obvious Vodafone branding that I've seen. Can be changed.
4. Default email signature of "Sent from my Touch Pro 2 on Vodafone" or similar. Can be changed.
It's no 4 they're talking about in this thread.
Overall I'd say the customisations are extremely mild and benign, and besides the Vodafone startup message - and of course the physical branding - they can all be disabled.
The biggest change from a completely unbranded phone is of course that you can't use generic HTC ROMs and have to wait for your operator's version. I haven't yet worked out from where I am supposed to get Vodafone specific HTC ROMs.

Unlocked UK Orange - HSDPA not working

I wonder if anyone can help...
I'm at stage 1 of de-branding my UK Orange Black Desire..
I got the unlock code this morning and it worked a charm!
Thing I have now is if I have the Vodafone sim in the vodafone desire it came from (handset is going back faulty) I get HSDPA....
If I then put the same sim in the unlocked Orange Desire it only gets 3G+ (whatever that is)
I had to configure the Access Point Names manually as prior to that it had no data connection at all?
Anyone got any ideas? am I missing something?
3g+ is hsdpa but orange named it 3g+ in their Rom for some reason. Don't worry, all is well

Your a STAR! thanx mate!
Just got to flash it now and get rid of all this orange JUNK!
For some reason the market place is different on the orange phone to.... google earth, beebplayer and layer are all missing... and goggles doesnt work.
I'm on orange also, and have done what you are doing. Be careful when you flash the new generic Rom as it will lock the phone, and you will need an unlock code to use it again if you don't have the goldcard in while updating. You'll find Google earth in the market after the flash, as I have it installed on mine. Goggles also works. It will display hsdpa instead of 3g+ when flashed aswell.
Any problems I'll try to help.

Orange always call HSDPA - "3G+" on all their smart phones, my Nokia N85 was the same until i changed it's product code and reflashed it. I guess they call it 3g+ because it sounds like an improvement to 3G. Non technical people will probably wonder what HSDPA actually is.
Also, if you want Google Earth, use a WWE rom as the European ROM i used to debrand my Orange Desire originally would not find google earth, even after doing an OTA update.

BT ToGo HTC s620 Excallibur Roms

Hi I was wondering if someone could help me, I've been trying to unlock my HTC S620 Excallibur all night. It's locked to BT with its stock firmware. I came to the conclusion that I would have to buy a code. Then found I could flash a hacked rom. Which I've managed to do fine. The problem is it won't connect to any network. I've tried numerous WM 6.5 based roms but get same problem with every one. Tried messing with everything, changing connection settings an locals etc. Btw I'm from the U.K, trying to use an O2 Genie sim in it, never had problem with the phone. Had it's contract terminated early, is there any way they can block hardware when disconnecting services? Or does it still need unlock code even with a cooked rom? I've tried an orange, t-mobile and O2 sim in it. The new number for each sim shows in the call settings, and any sim related things like shipped phone numbers and settings. But in the call options the region, area, voice mail and message center numbers are blank. Could that be a problem? Shouldn't they configure themselves. Argh I'm so confused. I'de like to use my S620 as a phone instead of an expensive mp3 player.
Thanks in advance for any help.

T-mobile software branding, keeps me from using mobile data in sweden?

Hello!
I'm writing to you all as a recent user of my new htc desire which I
orderd from germany on Handyattacke.de and using it in Sweden, Gothenburg.
Handyattacke said it was a sim unlocked mobile with T-mobile software branding.
Now to the problem.
When I yesterday started to use the phone i quickly realized that the phone refuses to accept my Swedish opperators APN details... I've tried with diffrent simcards with same results.
I've even spoken with a nice lady on HTC customers support, who haven't been able to help and checked that my swedish operators (which I'm also working for) are correct.
What the hells should I do.
I want to be able to use my mobile data surf.
A friend of mine spoke about rooting the phone. Would that change and coulod the rooting chnage the software into swedish firmware.
Would appriciate all the help I could get.
When you say that it "refuses" to accept your operators APN details what do you mean?
I'm assuming you are entering them manually into Menu->Settings->Wireless & Networks->Mobile Networks->Access Point Names? Once you've entered them, are you pressing menu and then Save?
Regards,
Dave
That's correct mate and on order from the bird at Htc support center.
However. When I save and try to connect it says that the connection fail...
I'm so botherd and handyattacke.de even reply my questions.
Is there any thing I can do.
Can I root to a swedish firmware and should I say, deleate the T-mobile software branding or does the problem occur from some other reason?

[Q] internet explorer

When you're on internet explorer and click the search button it sends you to Google search why? How can I change it to search with bing? Thanks
Mobile Providers can do it.. yet don't know how.
On my Mozart it does the annoying T-mobile search, even with an unlocked phone. I don't understand the reason. The boot logo is t-mobile, too. It has no branding on package, hardware or providers. Just the Software thing.
so btm I'm also curious to know how to change the IE mobile search... Any ideas?
i believe that's the carrier modifications... not sure if it can be overriden at this stage... hopefully MS provides capabilities to set our own defaults... please bring this for the next update...
Someone wants to remove Google from their IE as search engine here.

no help
no I still can't find a solution to this issue
T-Mobile or your carrier changed the settings on your phone. I don't know why, you are buying a Microsoft product that has alot of Bing in it regardless. Your only hope is that Microsoft gives people the option to change this in the future or that T-Mobile (or your carrier) comes to their senses and puts Bing back as the default in a carrier pushed update.
Even if the only options were a radio button that said "crap the carrier got paid for" and "Bing", would be a nice option, Bing is best on these phones so far, and I like Bing and google near equally
