Hey, i deleted some system apps, which i will never need again.
First you need Titanium Backup. You find it in the Market.
So you´re able to save your apps and then unistall it. But dont uninstall everything...some apps are very important!
I only uninstalled apps, which are not to use on the flipout but uses disk space.
Files you can delete:
ESMusica
HipHopOfficial
Kodak Perfect Touch
QuickOffice (i have QuickOffice Pro installed)
RevolverTV
SIM Toolkit 2.1 update 1
TrueCountry 2.0.0012
Youtube (i replaced it with the android2.3 youtube)
There are a lot more apps to delete but some apps need a similar app to replace e.g. blur launcher...the phone won´t start if there is no similar launcher added before..
have fun
Thanks, can anyone post some more disposable applications here?
Sent from my MotoMB511 using XDA App
Here are the names I found on mine:
hiphopofficial.apk
esmusica.apk
revolver.apk
YouTube.apk
KPT.apk (kodak stuff)
Quickoffice_BasicViewer_2_0_26_NSTL_Signed_2010-05-04_19-41-13.apk truecountry.apk
Stk.apk (sim toolkit, i think)
Added to your list:
ArcVideoEditorLite.apk
@Schallstoerer
can you post your upgraded youtube apk ?
no problem!
you have to rename it in youtube.apk!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=817528
1. download the apk
2. delete old youtube.apk from /system/app/youtube.apk with root explorer
3. restart the phone
4. uninstall com.google.android.youtube (it appears after the restart in your settings - manage apps...
5. move the new youtube.apk to the system/app folder
6. install it!
maybe you have to restart..dont know!
Having problems with your youtube app.
To make the vid start i have to click on HQ as soon as the vid opens otherwise it returns 'sorry can't play...'.

Some more apps I'd remove:
newswidget
socialshare
statuswidget
universalinbox
weatherwidget
blur-services [very uncertain about this, is this system necessary ?]
blurcontactssync [very uncertain about this too]
do you think it's safe removing them ?
One more question: I made a backup of previously removed apps but apks only, not the odex files. If I try putting the apk back to /system/app the app works again although I read that odexed apps usually need both apk and odex to start again.
sooo lets try!
i dont have the problems with the youtube.apk like you! do you have uninstalled the com.google.android.youtube after restart?
maybe you have to set the permissions in root explorer to
"rw-r--r--"
i hope it will help!
there are a lot of lists which system apps can be deleted and whats their function!

this is the best list i found but only in german!

re. apps to remove, I installed deblurred rom as per guide:

CONS: an older gmail app version (as far as I remember I could install apk via gmail with blurred Italian rom, now I can't but not sure about this)

Hey, i reinstall the system on my flipout and have sometimes the same problem with this youtube app "can´t play" but the 200kb file which you prefer is only eclair version! or do i have to install both?
Here is a script to help remove some of the bloatware that comes on our stock ROMs. It is a pretty simple script and can be personalized by editing the updater-script file. You will need to have a custom recovery already flashed on your phone to use this mod (ie: Rogue, CWM, etc...). Just put the zip on your sdcard and flash like a ROM. This is for deodex roms only, but if the demand is high I'll update it to work with odex roms as well. The files that are removed are listed below.
I am not responsible for bad that things that happen as a result of flashing this.

Here is a rough guide on how to edit the script:
1. You need an archive program like 7zip or WinRAR to open the .zip file up.
2. Open the path (META-INF/com/google/android) until you see a file named updater-script.
3. Pull the updater-script file out of the archive and make your edits with Notepad++ (NOT REGULAR NOTEPAD).
4. Drag the updater-script back into the archive and select "store" as the compression type.
5. Put the .zip on your phone and flash.

How much space does this create, when using it as is, without adding or removing anything? Also, is there a list of what each apk listed is actually doing on our devices, so we know if we want it removed or not? Maybe not of all of them, as some are obvious, but of the ones that arent would be good!

I updated the list in the OP. Thanks for the suggestion.
I haven't tested how much space this creates so if someone on a stock rom would test for me that would be great.
EDIT:
I corrected the script error that wasn't deleting the /system/etc/ folders. I used "delete" rather than "delete recursive". N00bish, I know. Please re-download from OP.
Thanks for this. I'm not familiar with how to edit the updater script. I searched but nothing that explains it clearly. Provide some guidance/link?

Not sure if you saw this link here but it was the list of stuff I first utilized when trying to debloat my rom. Maybe you can have 2 scripts one for real hard core de-bloating and another one like you have now... Quite sure you both have alot of the same stuff just trying to put more info out there.
Thanks alot for the script you would of saved me a lot of time....Now you can save others.

Lol its not my post just a post I used to remove bloat from my phone....lol Its all good just trying to help out
Two questions:
1) What happens if we put an apk on the list to remove, and it just so happens that that either that apk is not there or it is misspelled?
2) Is there a way to edit the script to move them to a folder on the sd card rather than just deleting it? Just in case you want to re install it or need it....
If you haven't seen it already, I use this when I strip rom's down: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=19240692&postcount=3
It doesn't have everything listed as to what it does, but clears a lot out. Other than what you have posted, all I really know is that vtt-sprint apk is the default voicemail app.

1- It wont delete it
2- sure there is but these files in the system/app/ get pushed over and not installed. There are programs like androidcommander that can help assist you to do what it is you want done in batches
Recommend people actually try kies air, definitely not worthless bloat.

yea but then again there are advantages as to editing the script...
- less storage space needed, unlike a program, regardless if it barely takes up space
- dont need to install a program for it, just run it through cwm after a flash...
- etc lol
so what would be the command to push it to the sd card? i know it involves mv but i dont know a lot about editing these scripts, all i need is the correct command via example and i think i can do it myself

I don't believe that edify scripting supports the mv function like adb does. You'd probably have to write a .sh program to make something like this happen. I don't plan on implementing this feature but if someone wants to create it I will gladly add it to the zip and OP.
EDIT:
I have updated the script with that now removes .odex files as well. Enjoy!!!
Great job man!
Was waiting for an odex version of this script.

ORIGNAL:::Apparently I am that bigger idiot that your sig is refferring to lol because I feel that I'm following these instructions perfectly and yet everytime I try to flash I get installation aborted.
I'm assuming Im not doing step 4 correctly because I have no idea what you're talking about with "store as the compression type" --- with Notepad++ or windows or 7zip???
I think the reason I'm not getting that far is because when I try to move to file in 7Zip --- it says "Unsupported compression method" error during the copy
Thanks --- all I want to do is keep the Samsung keyboard along with the Live Wallpapers

You will need to find an alternative gallery.apk (market or google)
Once you have it, you will need to delete the old gallery.apk from /system/app (you will need a file manager with root access, mounted as r/w). Long press and click delete on galery.apk
Move the new gallery.apk to the same folder and press it to install it
You may need to use adb to push the new apk to /system/app
Hope this helps
Hi!
after countless FCs from the stock email app, when trying to open new emails, i finally found a better solution for removing sms from call logs.
not the LogsProvider.apk should be modded, but instead the Contacts.apk
i modded the Contacts.apk from OMEGA 11 ICS stock rom
which is a XWLP8 rom

then copy the modded file to /system/app (no need to rename it)

you dont need to delete the entries.
does anybody know what happens if you have too much log entries??
the problem is already in samsung stock contacts.apk!
stock email app puts entries for new emails in the database of logsprovider.apk (you can check it with sqlite)
but contacs.apk does not show it ever in the call-logs view.
so email can fill up your database, and you have no (normal) way to delete it.
therefore i say it does not matter if the same happens to sms-logs.
i just would like to find out what happens, if you have 2000 smslogs inside your database and 300 emails logs.
will it crash? will it auto purge old entries? what ? what?

I think the 2 ways are good, just like you said it needs to be done correctly.
You try to hide logged sms, and Homam's one try to disable sms logging.
Anyway, good work karl999999, i ported it to my Blue ICS themed lp4, it's working great (with aosp email).
Best point for your mod is that it will hide also all previous received sms .
Get it from attachment, you have to restore stock LP4 LogsProvider.apk (attached too) if you want to test it.
acutally hiding is not really what i wanted
i want the menu to work, only the startup default to be set at "show only calls"
(instead of "all protocols")
but then i have found out, that the stupid phone.apk seems to change the value at random times.
what i will do in the next version, is that the menu will actually work, and you can delete old logs normally.
if that is possible, that is
PS: what would be even better is, if the call log screen could also show those damn emails. the logs ARE in the database. the damn app just does not show them. (as i said before, i wonder what happens if you have 2000 email logs in the database, and you have no way of deleteing them?)
this one seems to fully work now, and save the settings to preference file.
after pushing the file to /system/app you MUST REBOOT, because its not zipaligned yet. (maybe i will fix this later)
please test and report back here ...

I meant was missing 3 xml in layout related to sms showing. Well you are actually hiding sms
I am sure you ll improve your mod, for the moment i ll keep using logsprovider mod, for our rom (Simplistic lite and Disaster) we had no complaint about email client ;-)
Regards and go on working ;-)

Do you know what's GAPPS? Google Apps...
Market store app,yes?
I don't know how to add apps to GAPPS.. but I know how to update some GAPPS to the system/app..
example: like PlayStore
- PlayStore upgrades automatically
- the old version is in your system/app.. but the newer is in data/app
- so then just find the app in data/app, rename to Phonesky.apk (renaming is necessary if the old app in the system/app has that name) (PlayStore has that file name)
- move & replace it to system/app..
use RootExplorer..
great day

Hello,Good day mate.
I still can't understand the mention.Sorry bro,cuz i'd still new and wanting to learn with this kinda system.Love graphics much so the idea comes when i see the Play Store that usually people do use it for daily apps search and downloads and from there i got an idea that i want to mod it,like it background, colors and so on.What do i need to modifying the play store app?is there any procedure that i have to follow?
ooh.. MOD it like give colors etc.. hahaha
you need to edit the resource files or xml file inside the apk.. open the apk with winrar.. extract.. you'll see many folders and files.. maybe you can repack it to apk again after editing.. rar it or zip it, use the "Store" level of compression, change the extension to apk..
I KNOW HOW TO SEE THOSE FILES.. COPY FROM IT, ETC..
BUT I DIDN'T UNDERSTAND THE TEXT INSIDE THE XML.. hahaha
study on Google mate..
Do i need any PC program to do this?
winrar, notepad or wordpad (for .xml) (preinstalled in Windows) or gedit/text editor in linux
I think just that
Does coding required for this?
coding? like html or "%2F" is same with "<sth. I forgot>"
I dunno hehe
I see..ok bro, will try it soon and thank you for your time.
You should contact ibanez ...he knows well about it...here is his work about play store....
