best regards

Do you know what's GAPPS? Google Apps...

Market store app,yes?

I don't know how to add apps to GAPPS.. but I know how to update some GAPPS to the system/app..
example: like PlayStore
- PlayStore upgrades automatically
- the old version is in your system/app.. but the newer is in data/app
- so then just find the app in data/app, rename to Phonesky.apk (renaming is necessary if the old app in the system/app has that name) (PlayStore has that file name)
- move & replace it to system/app..
use RootExplorer..
great day

Hello,Good day mate.
I still can't understand the mention.Sorry bro,cuz i'd still new and wanting to learn with this kinda system.Love graphics much so the idea comes when i see the Play Store that usually people do use it for daily apps search and downloads and from there i got an idea that i want to mod it,like it background, colors and so on.What do i need to modifying the play store app?is there any procedure that i have to follow?

ooh.. MOD it like give colors etc.. hahaha
you need to edit the resource files or xml file inside the apk.. open the apk with winrar.. extract.. you'll see many folders and files.. maybe you can repack it to apk again after editing.. rar it or zip it, use the "Store" level of compression, change the extension to apk..
I KNOW HOW TO SEE THOSE FILES.. COPY FROM IT, ETC..
BUT I DIDN'T UNDERSTAND THE TEXT INSIDE THE XML.. hahaha
study on Google mate..

Do i need any PC program to do this?

winrar, notepad or wordpad (for .xml) (preinstalled in Windows) or gedit/text editor in linux
I think just that

Does coding required for this?

coding? like html or "%2F" is same with "<sth. I forgot>"
I dunno hehe

I see..ok bro, will try it soon and thank you for your time.

You should contact ibanez ...he knows well about it...here is his work about play store....

Ultimate Extractor

I got this idea from a thread where someone was asking for a certain icon pack and I suggested to go one by one and grab the icon from each apk. I then thought to myself that this could all be automated. So here it is:
Ultimate Extractor
HOW TO USE:
1. Download icex.zip
2. Make folder C:\icex
3. Extract files from icex.zip to C:\icex
4. Put the theme in C:\icex (has to have .zip extension)
5. Make sure that the theme is the only zip file in C:\icex
6. Now you have 4 choices:
-> 6a: If you want everything (.pngs, .jpgs, .xmls) run UltimateExtractor.bat
-> 6b: If you want only icons (icon.png or ic_launcher*.png) run IconExtractor.bat
-> 6c: If you want almost every single .png run PngExtractor.bat
-> 6d: If you want to run Ultimate Extractor on .apks and not a whole zip file, run UltimateExtractorApk.bat *NEW*
Thanks to ultra spikey for his theme porter script which I based mines off of and thanks to woelv for the thread that got me to do this.

ICon EXtractor v1.0
HOW TO USE:
1. Download icex.zip
2. Make folder C:\icex
3. Extract files from icex.zip to C:\icex
4. Put the theme in C:\icex (has to have .zip extension)
5. Make sure that the theme is the only zip file in C:\icex
6. Now you have to choices:
-> 6a: If you want every single icon, run IconExtractor.bat
-> 6a -> 1: You will be prompted twice
-> 6a -> 2: Hit 'u' and enter at both prompts
-> 6b: If you dont want to be prompted, run IconExtractor_NoPrompt.bat
7. All the icons will now be in folder C:\icex\icons
The reason that the non prompting one won't give you all the icons is because a lot of icons are named "icon.png" so they end up overwriting each other. Also some of the ic_launcher* icons have the same name as well (such as ic_launcher_gallery). The prompting script gives you the option to automatically rename the .pngs as they are extracted. I will try and find a way around this eventually.
I will try to find a way to get all the icons without being prompted (its a 7z thing)

nice work! now you need another tool to repack the icons. so people can extract icons from one place and repack them automatically into another. that would be perfect since people who extract the icons want to use it for another app or theme.

Maybe you could create folders for each apk. So that the icons can be easily identified?
Great work, by the way!

i was able to get them into folders for each apk but i was having trouble getting them to the root of each folder (they were in res/drawable within each folder which is what im trying to avoid)
ill keep working on it and see if i can get them into the root of their own folders
EDIT: found a huge bug which ill be fixing for the next update

This would make mylife ten times easier to port themes. I have to search through the whole rom to get the png's I need. It takes around 4 hours to do. Plus some of the older roms png's have different names for them. Mostly on the Framework. Does it extract the png's from the Framework as well?
Yea it should be doing so but ill double check to make sure
EDIT: no i wasnt doing it before but i implemented it now
ok new update
have everything in separate folders now
enjoy
ALSO, for anyone who's curious .. that 'huge bug' is due to some themes having an 'app' folder while others have 'system/app' ... my script wasnt working with the 'app' folder before ... now it tests for it
EDIT: had to re up it real quick with a small fix

This program works great....Only one thing though, on the launcher folder, seems like the png's w/ the same name get over writen. Example= "delete_handle" from Res/drawable-land AND Res/drawable-port aren't two different Png's. Maybe for this apk and others with thhe same folders, you could place them in the original folders----Drawable----Drawable-land----Drawable-port, as you said it work before hand. Some other folder/Png's are missing as well...
I tryed to use UltraSpikey's theme converter and was unsucessful. I was More accurate using this method, thanks to you... It is gladly appreciated...

yea the overwriting pisses me off but its the only way to get it fully automated .. i will add a second version that will prompt to rename any pngs ... or i can try to get the drawable, drawable-land, and drawable-port right ... can you let me know which folders are missing so i can see why?
Can't wait until saturday night, i'm off work, so i can play with this. Thanks for your hard work!

now they get extracted into their respective folders (drawable, drawable-land, drawable-port, etc) (also this stops the overwriting )

[MOD][GUIDE][THEME] - Adding Locale to the rom you want. Download available for XWJS5

Background
Samsung has released a few 2.2.1 for the europe region, while those in the Asia / Middle East regions are still having 2.2 roms, and no sign of whether Samsung is going to release it, if any at all.
I took the liberty to try having additional locale in the rom (not the MoreLocale or others available in the market) and manage to get it done.
I have tried it with the South East Asia rom, with languages available in thai, viet, simplified chinese, malay and indonesian.
Disclaimer
I'm not sure if it will work with other regions such as China and Hong Kong (ZS series), or Middle East (JP series), but those who have time to spare, and want to have an authentic 2.2.1 rom, can always try.
Also, even when it can be done, I'm pretty certain it is not a 100% fit, but would dare say in the region of about 95%.
Also, it would be a long and tedious process as each system app will be needed to decompile.
Tools Needed
Apk Manager 4.9 (courtesy of Daneshm90)
7zip compression utility
2.2.1 Rom (latest is WXJS5) which I have used
2.2 Rom (other regional rom) which in this case is DXJPE for my case
Instructions
1. Create separate directories for both roms and install / unzip the apk manager in each respective directories.
2. Copy the system apps (including framework-res.apk and twframework-res.apk) for each rom to the respective folders (place-apk-here-for-modding).
3. Decompile all the system apps for each rom.
4. Navigate to the projects folder and select the apps you want to start with (probably a good idea to start with framework-res.apk)
5. Go to the res folders and in it you will find all the values folders as well. Example:
- values-en-rGB folder
- values-en-rUS folder
- values-ko folder
- values-ko-rKR folder
6. Go to your 2.2 rom folder and do the same and you will notice that these are different from the 2.2.1 folder.
7. Copy those different values-xxxxxx folders to the 2.2.1 rom res directory.
8. Recompile the apk and in the process, select yes to keep all the info intact, and apk manager will generate a keep folder.
9. Delete the resources.arsc from this keep folder and proceed to complete the compilation.
10. You will now have the unsignedframework-res.apk in your place-your-apk-here-for-modding folder.
11. Open up this apk with 7zip and you will see the resources.arsc file which is compressed.
12. Drag this file out and close the 7zip program
13. Next, right click the resources.arsc and select Add to archive from the 7zip option.
14. Make sure your option is to store (not compressed) and click on the ... icon to select the file, in this case is the unsignedframework-res.apk. This method of doing is to ensure that your resources.arsc is changed from compressed format to store format (no compression).
15. That is your first change in adding locale.
16. Repeat the above steps for the rest of the apps (I know it is tedious but the experience is well worth it).
17. Create an update zip to store these modded files (make sure you delete the prefix unsigned from the apps).
18. Like everyone says, ALWAYS do a backup of your current rom.
Disadvantages
Your apps will definitely be bigger in size and hence occupy more space.
Advantages
This is as near as you get with your region on a 2.2.1
This can be done with any stock or customized rom.
I hope the above guide will be useful for those who has time to spare, and who is willing to try it.
Please let me know if this works for other regions as well.
Any questions, please ask.
Edit:
Download is available here for those who wants locale of the SEA region. Consist of some apps that were modded.
The attached image showed the comparison of the 2 framework-res.apk.
On the left is the 2.2 rom (DXJPE), with the values-in, values-id-rID (Malay and Indonesian), and the values-mcc204-zh-rCN as the chinese as well.
On the right is the 2.2.1 rom (WXJS5), with the values having the European languages as well.
What you need to do is find those files unique in the left side and copy these to the right side.
Recompile and that's it.
The second image showed the language (in this case simplified chinese) after i selected chinese as the locale after modding the Settings.apk as described above.
thanks its quiet useful, many of friends were looking for such a thing,

Useful guide. I've been meaning to do this for a while but I didnt know how.
For step11, what .apk do we open? unsignedframework-res.apk? When I open this file, theres no resources.arsc...
and step12, what do you mean by "drag this file out"?

Step 11, yes the unsignedframework-res.apk. It can't be that there is no resources.arsc. Did you encounter errors during decompiling? Use 7zip to open the framework-res.apk and see if you have resources.arsc.
I meant extract the resources.arsc.

Also, I recommend to decompile Settings.apk as the 3rd one. This is where the ui is.

Your framework-res.apk must be a modded one. There is no dependencies for the framework-res.apk. Settings.apk need the twframework-res.apk as the dependency. Let me guess, you are on Darkyy's rom?

The rom chef may have not done the moding cleanly, and hence decompiling will always end up with the errors. Perhaps you can try to see what the log of apk manager says, and solve it from there.

Darkyy's rom is also based on js5, and in that case you can always try. But always do a backup first before any attempts to try.
I wish you luck!
Edit: I downloaded it once, and found the following:
/system/app - AxT9IME.apk and Swype.apk (presumably arabic based)
/system/fonts - 11 fonts with names of hebrew and arabic on them
/system/framework - framework.jar (this one not sure what is modded, maybe ask Darkyy?)
/system/lib - 5 .so files
/system/etc - apns-conf.xml (which is not related to this)
Go try it.

You are most welcome.
Point to note: there are some apps that do not have any other region locale, for example, SecDownloadProvider.apk and DownloadProvider.apk. You need to go through one app at a time. I made a mistake.
Having said that, if you are adventurous, you can even create your own for these 2 apks in chinese.
:O
Any ways to just replace files using root explorer to add chinese language to my rom?
All these steps are beyond my skills and knowledge.

You probably wont be able to add any, you can change the current ones by editing the apk, signing it then installing it. Once you open up the apk (with 7zip, winrar etc.) look inside the drawable-hdpi folder. Thats probably where the emoticons are kept.

Adding icons to whatsapp
Hey Guys has anyone tried adding new icons into the default whatsapp?
Or do the modded versions allow adding additional GIF'S to be added to the instant messenger?
Thanks
yes i have tried it, but it's useless since the recipient of the emoticon should have the "moded" version too, so that he could see the emoticon
Just wanted to add that Ive noticed the Iphone has new icons and I can view them on my phone which dont have those icons :/

Good idea, but not practical
In order to install an apk, it must be properly signed and with a password that only the developers know. If you own the app though, you will still need to to decompile and recreate the apk structure by turning the directories of the zip into an android structure, since the compiling will change pretty much everything.
Worst part of it all, if you somehow manage to change and install the app, only you will be able to see it since only the apk installed on your phone has those custom emoticons.
Cheers :good:
how do I put emoticons on viber /whatsapp for sell
Just get your friends to use wechat, has all the emos in the world. Whatsapp is crap

i'm using repencis by now..

well,i'm really newbie here.. any rom developer, please don't be mad at me?
Not difficult but neither easy. For repensis, make another ROM based on that. for newbies, I don't think you should try this, but if you think, pm me.

Update to v3. Its better, IMO. Since you dont have Repencis Labs, download DCSMS Icon Patcher 1.0. You can change icons with this.
Are you talking about the user applications like facebook, tweeter, games, etc.?
If that's the case then this instructions will help you.. (i'm not good in making instructions by the way since i'm not really good in english )
I did it manually by dragging the modified icons with the same filename and size in the res / drawable-ldpi folder inside the apk file using Winrar then i used AUTOSIGN to resign the apk (i used photoshop to resize & do a little editting on icons)..
here's my modified apk icons, i used YouEye icon theme:

I asked this same question in the past and finally i was able to do it now..
And don't forget that system applications is much easier to change the icons since you doesn't need to use AUTOSIGN.. Cheers!
i agreed with raolemo

[Video Tutorial] How to change .apk icon using "Apk Manager 5.0.2"

HOW TO CHANGE .APK ICON USING APK MANAGER.
Many people have asked how to change icons of apps in app drawer, once it was my question too,and I searched every corner of xda to find a thread explaining me that but it was of no avail even though i FOUND one but it didn't work on my sgs2.Therefore,I decided to help everybody who is having the same problem including me.So I brought you the easiest 'n simplest way to change the icons,it's lenghty as many would call it but once you get the hang of it,you'll be changing the icons of 'n on.
JUST FOLLOW THE STEP BY STEP GUIDE;
1. Copy Settings.apk in the folder called "place-apk-here-for-modding"
2. Start the "Script.bat"
3. Choose point 22 "Set current Project"
4. Choose your app you want to extract
5. Choose point 1 "Extract apk"
6. Go to the folder called "Projects" 7. Choose your app you just have extracted
8. Choose the folder called "res"
9. Look in the folders where the icon is.
10. Change the icon but be sure it have the same size ("mdpi: 48x48" hdpi: 72x72" xdpi: 96x96")
11. Go back to script windows or start script.bat again
12. Choose point 22 "Set current Project" again
13. Choose point 3 "Zip apk"
14. Choose point 12 "sign apk"
15. Go back to the folder "place-apk-here-for-modding" now should have a apk here that is called signed"NameOfYourApp"
16. Copy it to your Sd card and install it on your device.

Glad you found it helpful !
7zip
Thanks a lot for this thread very usefull.
We can change the icons with 7-zip when we install a mod like Jkay.
1. extraxt your apk from your mod with 7zip
2. Open the apk with 7zip
3. Go into res/mipmap-hdpi for the Sgs2
4. Insert your new icon to replace the older
5.Replace the old apk
Apk manager is also very interesting to decompile the apk. This allow to change the code to make big modifications like the Domination mod.
PS: Sorry for my bad english language
Using the method in the OP you could very easily open up a can of worms if it contains badly patched 9's.
I'd personally use the universal theme template, a lot quicker, easier and safer compared to apkmanager, and it creates a backup.
I tried your method but it does not work on my sgs2 XWLPF deodex with last syiah. I cannot install the setting apk created on my phone.
I agree, although this thread is very helpful, I recommend if you're not changing any xml code or .9's... don't decompile just use UFT...
I know it's hard for some people and find decompiling and compiling complicated,so they choose 7-zip.. It's faster and easier I agree but I made this tutorial to let people learn how to use apk manager too.

Yes but the title suggests to "change the apk icon" in which you do not need to decompile the APK to do so... maybe you should rename the title?
anyway, thumbs up!
why before using apk manager my apk is 5969 kb and after change one file ( from 1,50kb to 1,86 kb ) it is 3124 kb ? I'm changing status_bar_latest_event_content.xml in framework-res.apk
Thanks a lot..
Thanks

Great thanks!
thanks.
but when i reboot the phone app's icon turn older.
what is the solution?
Im trying to change my clock color, either in status_bar.xml or styles.xml and neither way is working. After I push SystemUI,apk, I reboot the phone and it says systemui.apk has stopped working. I read I don't need to resign the apks, so Im not sure what else to do? Also, what compression level should I be using?
Hi, I tried using APK manager to change icons, and it works, but when I go to install on my android device, it says it didn't install.
Any help?
