Hey, i deleted some system apps, which i will never need again.
First you need Titanium Backup. You find it in the Market.
So you´re able to save your apps and then unistall it. But dont uninstall everything...some apps are very important!
I only uninstalled apps, which are not to use on the flipout but uses disk space.
Files you can delete:
ESMusica
HipHopOfficial
Kodak Perfect Touch
QuickOffice (i have QuickOffice Pro installed)
RevolverTV
SIM Toolkit 2.1 update 1
TrueCountry 2.0.0012
Youtube (i replaced it with the android2.3 youtube)
There are a lot more apps to delete but some apps need a similar app to replace e.g. blur launcher...the phone won´t start if there is no similar launcher added before..
have fun
Thanks, can anyone post some more disposable applications here?

Here are the names I found on mine:
hiphopofficial.apk
esmusica.apk
revolver.apk
YouTube.apk
KPT.apk (kodak stuff)
Quickoffice_BasicViewer_2_0_26_NSTL_Signed_2010-05-04_19-41-13.apk truecountry.apk
Stk.apk (sim toolkit, i think)
Added to your list:
ArcVideoEditorLite.apk
@Schallstoerer
can you post your upgraded youtube apk ?
no problem!
you have to rename it in youtube.apk!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=817528
1. download the apk
2. delete old youtube.apk from /system/app/youtube.apk with root explorer
3. restart the phone
4. uninstall com.google.android.youtube (it appears after the restart in your settings - manage apps...
5. move the new youtube.apk to the system/app folder
6. install it!
maybe you have to restart..dont know!
Having problems with your youtube app.
To make the vid start i have to click on HQ as soon as the vid opens otherwise it returns 'sorry can't play...'.

Some more apps I'd remove:
newswidget
socialshare
statuswidget
universalinbox
weatherwidget
blur-services [very uncertain about this, is this system necessary ?]
blurcontactssync [very uncertain about this too]
do you think it's safe removing them ?
One more question: I made a backup of previously removed apps but apks only, not the odex files. If I try putting the apk back to /system/app the app works again although I read that odexed apps usually need both apk and odex to start again.
sooo lets try!
i dont have the problems with the youtube.apk like you! do you have uninstalled the com.google.android.youtube after restart?
maybe you have to set the permissions in root explorer to
"rw-r--r--"
i hope it will help!
there are a lot of lists which system apps can be deleted and whats their function!
http://www.android-hilfe.de/anleitu...beit-welche-apps-duerfen-entfernt-werden.html
this is the best list i found but only in german!
Red=Don´t delete

solved youtube problem with 200kb apk from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=13249766&postcount=242
re. apps to remove, I installed deblurred rom as per guide:
PROS: no odex files, no blur account app
CONS: an older gmail app version (as far as I remember I could install apk via gmail with blurred Italian rom, now I can't but not sure about this)

I thought if I moved an apk from system/app to data/app it could be moved/linked by apps like link2sd, but that's apparently not all there is to it. Here's what I did
take ROM into DsiXDA kitchen
deodex
move maps.apk and street.apk from system/app to data/app
build ROM
And it does not seem to be movable... Is there some setting/attribute I must change in addition? While I'm at it - is there some relation to updating via the market? Is there a reason why these 'standards apps' should be system apps? Were they perhaps customized by HTC in some way? What if I simply removed them and installed them from the marker? Note that these 2 apps are just examples - the question is quite general.
Appreciate any help.

Why not just move them live with a root explorer?
You can move any non system critical app to /Data/app and link2sd no problem.

I don't understand. I do have root explorer but I don't follow. What do you mean 'move live'? It's also not so much the actual moving of a specific app I'm after, but the understanding.
And so it goes... this seemed like a simple question that anyone who has played around with this could easily answer I would have thought. E.g. by any of the folks that hang out in the developers' section... where one is not supposed to ask simple questions... catch 22!

You will need to find an alternative gallery.apk (market or google)
Once you have it, you will need to delete the old gallery.apk from /system/app (you will need a file manager with root access, mounted as r/w). Long press and click delete on galery.apk
Move the new gallery.apk to the same folder and press it to install it
You may need to use adb to push the new apk to /system/app
Hope this helps
How to install:
Rename it to Vending.apk
Paste it in system/app
Change permissions to rw-r--r--
Reboot if needed
Worked for me,thnaks

Worked on democracy rom.
Works on CM7 vo-1 flawlessly, I just wanted to see a list of paid apps that aren't installed like there where on older versions.
Thanks, installed without the need to push it to system app on my nexus 7.
Thanks. As said, you can now view the details of an app in My Apps and return to the list without it leaping to the top. I still miss being able to see a list of purchased apps though.

I found that but still can't order the list to show paid apps together. I also wish you could order uninstalled apps alphabetically.

... which kinda doesn't make sense, since this was a feature a few versions ago. Someone even "ported" old market version to workaround that: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1809215. I hope this will also be useful to others like it was useful to me

it works! thanks a lot!
Just installed it as normal apk, without renaming it, works perfect!
Cheers!
Tried to copy paste or install...it worked, but when i reboot play store comes back in the old version.
In my system/app the playstore is named phonesky.apk, not vending.apk (using s'perience rom). What should i do?

Delete the Phonesky.apk and paste the new Vending.apk to /System/app then change the permission to rw-r--r-- or rename the Vending.apk to Phonesky.apk and paste the new Phonesky.apk to /System/app then change the permission to rw-r--r--

Salut,
for all of you, who don't like Chrome, here is the original AOSP Browser 4.3 with the optional BookmarkSync if you like.
I modded the Browser, so that the search-bug is gone. All AOSPs had weird strings for "search on page", I added the english and german resource strings and ID.
Just move the Browser.apk to /system/app and set the permissions to rw-r--r--
If you like, you may also install ChromeBookmarksSyncAdapter.apk (same way as above), so that your bookmarks from your Google account are synced, but this is optional.
If you encounter a Force Close after starting, delete or rename BrowserProviderProxy.apk and BrowserProviderProxy.odex (if you don't have a deodexed ROM) and reboot, then it should work.
Enjoy!
PS: This is Adobe Flash "ready" - if you want Flash, you need to install Flash for sure, but the Browser is capable of using it
[edit]
I tried several Flash versions, all of them had issues, but the old one 11.1.115.11 works fine for me:

Wow that's not happening on my phone.
Are the permissions set correctly? rw- r-- r-- (644)?
Have you installed the SyncAdapter too?
If not, do it and try again.
If then again an error occurs, try it with freezing BrowserProxyProvider.apk, this should help as some users report in another thread.
[edit]
One idea: try with deleting app and cache data in settings -> apps -> Browser and/or freeze Chrome.

Fixed just done a search on here and found out that I needed to rename BrowserProviderProxy.apk just added a 1 on the extention so it looks like BrowserProviderProxy.apk1
reboot and all is working.
Enabled the browser sync under my google account and now see all my bookmarks.
Thanks for all your help sorted.
Glad you got it.
Weird is, I didn't need to rename or delete anything, BrowserProxyProvider is just there... Will put this in the OP anyway, thanks for your feedback!
I added the link to a working Flash version in OP, official from Macromedia.

Try flashing this in CWM: http://www26.zippyshare.com/v/84435358/file.html
Alternatively, there is AOSP Browser Installer and Android Browser on Google Play.
Hello guys,
I am new to this forum and i already have a question.
A friend asked me if it is possible to extract the original firephone standard mail app on his Samsung Galaxy S3. I tried the normal method:
Copying the mail.apk in the /system/priv-app/ to his S3 into the /system/priv-app folder, too and then setting the right attributes.
After a reboot it seems to be installed, but right after booting it shows that the email app has crashed. A manual launch of the main app
isn't possible too. Is there away to flash it manually or did i choose the wrong method to copy that system app? Is it even possible to
do that? Is it compatible?
Hope my english isn't too bad.
You would need the APK and the ODEX file... but even then it would be problematic because the rest of the Amazon DCP is missing...
Take a look at (some of) the permissions the email app is asking for:
Code:
com.amazon.dcp.settings.permission.read_settings
com.amazon.dcp.sso.permission.account.changed
com.amazon.dcp.sso.permission.amazon_account_property
com.amazon.dcp.sso.permission.use_device_credentials
com.amazon.dcp.snds.permission.change_snds_link_status
com.amazon.dcp.snds.permission.snds.link_status.changed
amazon.permission.application_settings

com.amazon.dcp.messaging.permission.handle_device_message

com.amazon.dcp.sso.permission.expire_access_token

com.amazon.dcp.sso.permission.customer_attribute_service
com.amazon.dcp.metrics.permission.metrics_permission
com.amazon.dcp.config.permission.dyn_config_values_updated
com.amazon.identity.permission.can_call_map_information_provider
com.amazon.identity.permission.generic_ipc

amazon.permission.collect_metrics
com.amazon.pinochle.client.pinochle_access

Isn't it possible to bypass these permissions? Thought an Email application just needs network permissions to run a IMAP/POP3 Client...
Isn't it possible to integrate the amazon features?
I also copied the Odex file and it crashed...
If you want to try I can upload those files.

You need to deodex the app first (before porting it to another device) so that the apk and odex files become one file. I don't have a link to share but with a little googling you will find a ton of tutorial for deodexing KitKat using apktool.
