I've tried flashing several kernels, only for the purpose of overclocking, but everytime, once i reboot the phone, the screen will not respond to any touch! I have to open the keyboard to unlock the screen, then navigate using the trackpad to restore my original rom
I was stock, n i've flashed both Baconbits 0.1 n 0.3, then flashed the Virtuous Sense rom, which worked normal. But i wanted the newer kernel (jan 11? I believe) but the same result, so i reverted to the jan 4 original kernel
Can anyone explain to me why any kernel i try flashing leaves me stranded? Can i fix this?

I rooted my wifes phone and flashed cm6 nightly 10-12 and stap 7.6 with turbo. Set her phone up the same as mine. only difference is im on ra recovery and she is on clockwork. Now her screen has a flicker and bleeding look. I had a app that would alow you to change some settings to fix this and for the life of me cant remember what it was. Can someone help me to find this or fix issue.
Ya my brothers phone had this, we got scared ! We ended up flashing a stock rom and everything was back to normal. He then decided to wait on trying CM6 again. The only thing I did diff was installed without downgrading the hboot to .76. Which hboot you on?
Thread moved to Q&A.
I flashed cm w hboot of .76.2 and my phone ran fine w it? Whats the diff between .76 & .76.2?

hboot .97 used the one click unrevoked. im on 87 i beleive unrevoked but the version that you have to do all the typing. My phone is fine.
i mean im on .76
I had a similar problem when installing a new kernel to my Fresh install. Screen got all messed up. I went back to just the stock Fresh and it worked fine. If I had to take a stab at the problem, it might be a voltage issue. Do you have the same problem if you use *just* CM6 and not a custom kernel?
Don't know. I will try to use stock rom or maybe 7.6cfs instead of bfs

I used CM6 by itself without issue. Fresh also. Wasn't until I mixed in Netarchy that I started having screen troubles. Going back to stock kernel fixed it.

AOSP (cyanogenmod) kernels arent compatible with sense and vice versa
Hi,
For some reason in rommanager I can only see up to #13 for the cyanogenmod nightlies?
Does anyone else have this problem?
The reason I bought the paid version was to get access to all of them.
Thanks
Paul
Well you got ripped off because Rom Manager is ****. Seriously, you should NEVER flash anything with Rom Manager or have it installed at that. Just download it from CyanogenMod, put it on your SD and install it via recovery.
Rom manager does what it is supposed to do and does it well.
The reason you do not see anymore nightlies is because there are no more. The nightlies got reset after RC1 was released. There isn't a new njghtly every night because sometimes there is no successful build.
Rom Manager does everything really poorly, seriously. It is useless and causes so many problems.

The main issue(s) is when you reboot. Say you flash a rom, when you reboot it tends to just reboot and not flash the rom or anything. It does stuff like that. Rom Manager tries to be the recovery but whilst booted up but fails. Fair enough, it works for some people but so many other people have problems with it. Ok, it has been developed for "noobs" and yes, I did kind of use it at first but then I found out from my own experience it didn't work too well. I think that people should forget about Rom Manager and just boot up into recovery and just use that since the recovery actually works, and only takes a reboot (depending on your rom) to get into it.
Why, do you like it?
I've noticed same issue with the nightly. I've tried manually flashing the newer ones, but get an error on the device check. So rom manager is correct 13 or RC2 are the latest that will install

Am a bit of a newbie to the custom rom world. So far rom manager has worked fine.
Am currently on cyanogen rc2 and have flashed my radio without problems. As a Java developer and a phone geek people think I am mad for mucking about with my phone so much.
The question was because I thought I had read there was a nightly 15.

I have had the same issue with Rom Manager. I had to download directly from the Cyanogenmod site
Just flashed 17 and it seems to be really fast!

or directly to 17

Just realised, that is the bravo version, cyanogen points xemacs desires to bravoc. Still seems to be working fine

I don't know if it's related, but I had trouble with CM7 RC2 when installed through ROM Manager, but manually flashing the CM7 Nightly #17 worked just fine. I wiped the caches etc. on both tries (or rather, ROM Manager did on the RC2).
Hello guys,
i use:
Redux 1.0.0
32.54 radio
stock kernel (redux)
desire
the battery was a little bit draining for me and i wanted give the RIL a chance ( btw i dont know what this is (yes im an idiot ) and installed it. i also tried with installing a undervolting zip that is given on the Redux page .
and now when i turn on my phone i have mobile network but then when i turn off display and on again i cant get it again until i reboot
please help
First you shouldn't flash stuff if you don't know what it is or does.
Second you shouldn't flash ril's on gingerbread roms. At least that's the case with oxygen.
Just reflash your rom without wiping, this will revert the ril to the right one. This probably fixes it, else you have to do a full wipe and not flash any "random" stuff.

at first , big thx for your fast help , but i have one more question :
when i install the rom again , can i loose any data then :S ? (even without wiping)
and can undervolting have any effects on this too?
No you shouldn't lose anything except stuff on the system partition. So if you manually moved something to system it gets removed. uv kennels should not have a effect on this but kernel will be reverted also.

Its happened to be before you have to either flash other rom or another kernel or could also restore from nandroid
That happens when you flash the wrong Kernel also. Make sure its for supersonic. Most of the kernel devs have kernels for multiple phones on the download sites.
first off i love this foum and all of its members it has help me numerous times before. I recently rooted my phone HTC Evo 4G with stock Gingerbread. Used revolutionary got s-off, rooted m phone put a few nice apps on there also flashed a new kernel b/c it was necessary for HDMIwin to work.
But then my mp4 files on my SDcard would only play sound and no video...and my camera wouldnt display anything just a white screen
please help me xda....your my only hope
thank you
Taylor
Every one of those problems points to a bad kernal. Try flashing the same kernal again, make sure you wipe only cache and dalvik before flashing.
It that doesnt work, then that means that kernal isnt compatible with your hardware/rom combo.
That's a great thing about kernels, you can flash them without destroying anything. Try a few different ones out and with each one try to demo every feature you phone has and you'll see that certain kernel-and-rom combos leave you with or without certain hardware or software capabilities. But there are enough out there where you'll find one that lets you use everything you need.
Sent from my Decks Evo. Quickly.
i cant even get passed the htc evo screen
Hold down power+volume down, boot into recovery, wipe davlik, wipe cache, reflash kernel

HDMIwin is for Sense 2.2 ROMs. They have yet to update it. Flashing a 2.2 kernel onto a Gingerbread ROM creates problems, such as your white screen camera.
If you want HDMIwin for Sense, then you will have to go back to a Sense 2.2 ROM. I think you can run some sort of app with the Tiamat kernel on an AOSP ROM like Cyanogenmod

I miss SENSE 3.0, but missed HDMwIn more. CM7 supports the bluetooth profile that the SIXAXIS app requires.
