Battery life - Windows Phone 7 General

Seems battery life has been quite outstanding lately. I've been using my HD7 without a sim card with WiFi on and leave it in standby...I don't power it down...when hot using it. The battery has been exemplary. Staying near full for a long time.

Cool story.
Also, I find that if I leave my car parked in my driveway it gets great fuel mileage.

It honestly seems to have improved for me... of course I only use it about one day a week but it seems to go the full day now...

Annoying feature in evo

Do you guys get annoyed by the fact that wen the battery gets under 15 percent, you cant use the flash on the camera? Can something be done about that? Idea
I normally try to charge around 40 percent. I guess that feature is to stop your flash from eating up what little juice you have remaining.
you also do not have the voltage required
That annoys me so much, I get real ocd about a blinking orange light for an extended period of time.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Its a set feature so that the flash doesn't eat all your remaining battery so the phone won't die due to using flash.
I did a little research about this and came up with a very easy and convenient solution: Charge your phone.

lol. Actually this has made me flip out more than a few times.
We all know the evo on stock battery and moderate usage totally owns the battery. That last picture of the night is always nicer when you have a flash!!

Self tested, its a design benefit. Because you can use the flash up to a certain point, then it denies you flash. All phones with flash have that feature.
When I had my epic if my battery went that low you are not even able to use the camera at all

[Q] Battery Life Problem

I am using the set up in my signature and I am getting horrible battery life. I might change roms (as you all know) because of this...it sucks. What can be the cause of this? I have had my evo for 10 months now so I am wondering if it could be my stock battery. It could be the kernel? Who knows...
Here is some information:
No wake lock problem
Wifi at home
3G outside
Calibrated it once since I flashed this rom
Battery decreases 3-4% overnight when sleeping
Moderate to Heavy user: texting all day, 2 hours of internet, XDA, constant emails, news, engadget, and youtube
I can see the battery life decreasing at a rate of maybe 7-10% per hour when I use it
Starting to decrease much more than it used to
***Picture: Subtract 7 hours from the 18 because it was sleeping overnight***
Any suggestions would be appreciated. You guys have provided plenty of insight for me and I thank you all for that.
Your battery life actually isn't that bad depending on how much you use your phone. Buy another battery on ebay and see if that helps. If you're looking to compare usage, I'd buy a stock battery instead of a cheap Chinese one, that way your tests will be accurate.
If your battery life just sucks and you want more juice, buy a few cheap batteries and an external charger and switch batteries when you get low. That's what I do, and it's great not having to turn radios off or do other tricks just to last through the day.

You can try changing roms...I get 1day 5hrs roughly on CM7, stock battery. For how're you're using the phone, that seems about decent, in my opinion. As plainjane suggested, you can get some other batteries and swap them out.
Youre lucky! MY battery lasts like 6 hours with moderate use

With that battery life? Perhaps, but never in my days of rooting have I run CM6. I'm pure CM7. Not biased by any means; I've tried some things, but CM7 is my preference, and if you want a screen shot I can provide.

Sure a screen shot would be good. Don't get me wrong, I like CM7 but I read CM6 with the snap kernel provides amazing battery life. To each his own I suppose.

I don't have the newer one, as my phone is in the middle of doing some things, but that kind of battery life is attainable on CM7.
I'm having problems too... I'm running on Myn warm 2.2 rls 5 and it's not charging anymore! Battery life also sucks ass too! It's getting worse by the days. I plugged my phone in to charge last night, and woke up to 26 % WTH!? I don't know if it's my battery or the rom. Help?

It could be your charging port. Those things break way too easily. When it's charging, check it every few minutes to make sure the charging light is staying on. One of my Evos had a bad port and when it first started happening, I would catch the light turning off then back on.
It could also be your battery. If you have another one you can test, see if it's any better. Or you can take the battery to Sprint and have them test it. Replacement batteries are pretty cheap if you get them on ebay.
(from... Evo/MIUI/Tapatalk)
Hey, thanks for the suggestion. I sure do hope it's the battery. I mean I do use it quite often to watch movies and what not so I'm not surprised if it's bad but I know it can be the port too because lately it's been acting crazy on me. Sometimes the light will be on, but it really doesn't end up charging. I don't know what it is. So if I take it into the sprint store to check the battery life and they won't say anything about my phone being rooted? Lol.

[Q] Battery Calibration and accurate Bat Stats

So I wanted to see what people think is the best way to recharge your phone after wiping battery statistics..
I would think that in order to get the most accurate battery statistics I would need to charge phone to 100%, wipe batt stats, then let the phone die, then charge back up to 100%.
I don't think the phone records batt stats while the phone is off, so should I let the phone get to like 1%, then charge back to 100% with the phone on?
It seems that when I let the battery die, then plug it in for a lil bit and turn it on, my battery jumps to like 10-14%.

AMAZING battery life!

I am completely amazed at the battery life I'm getting on this phone! Considering what a powerful device it is I would have been quite happy with getting about 12-15 hours out of it but ever since I loaded in the ROM and recent OTA update I have consistently got 2+ days of what I'd consider to be light use.
I'm running Calkulin's 2.0.1a ROM+included kernel, EK02 modem, and I also have Tiff's Nothin but the Honey v5.0 theme.
I attached an image of the battery stats page so y'all can see I aint lyin'!
Anyone else get this kinda battery life out of their E4GT?
Yeah I am getting pretty amazing battery life after calibrating properly and running blazer from 2.0. When i leave it on standby at 100 it only drops to like 80% after 24 hours. Love this phone!

Mine too.
This seemed to start after one time the phone got blazing hot while charging.
It was just sitting on my bed. It was so hot the processor was throttling and
everything was jerky.
It's never happened again, but now I never see > 99% on my battery. :-\
I agree. Running Calk's 2.0.1a with Rogue 1.3 kernel, I get great battery life
10 hours on extreme use during workday with tons of calls...GPS...tons of texts...lots of emails...on screen time of 3 hours+.
On light weekend use WiFi I get 30 hours easily.
My buddy has the new Nexus and is lucky to get half my battery life.

I am getting amazing battery life with unnamed rom . still at 50%
EK and EL releases helped a ton IMO. Even if I didn't use my phone all day on EG I might end with 40%. On EL I can go with no use and still be above 80.

That isn't a clear indicator either. I could have Pandora and GPS running over BT in my car which uses a lot of battery and that wouldn't help.
You guys should post screen shots of the screen on time. That is what will decide whether you're getting great battery life or not using your phone.

I have been unimpressed with the battery life. it will "NOT" last 1 day. heck sometimes I have to charge it twice
I might have a bum battery?? I just ordered the samsung charger with extra battery brand new. will see how that goes.
for now I use the 3950mah extended battery (lasts a full day) that I got off ebay.
I tried to let it update over the air but it always fails at clock widget and won't install the update?

How can I fix this?

On my E4GT, this has happened on multiple roms and persists through wiping battery stats. Is my battery drops very fast, just 30% in ~20 minutes this morning listening to music. But then while it sits in my pocket, asleep, the battery crawls up from ~70 back up to ~90 over the course of a half-hour or so. How can I fix it or is my battery just starting to go? Also after a reboot the battery will drop like 30-40%, then slowly crawl back up.
Sounds like the battery is either on its way out (check for bulges) or just very poorly calibrated. One of my batteries did the slowly crawling up thing even when it was brand new.

Okay, well, since wiping battery stats did not help. I felt it and can't really tell if it's swelling, I think it may be a little. Is turning it off all the way, then charge without stopping the charge the only way to calibrate it?

To check for swelling lay battery on table.. Spin.. (both sides) if it spins like a top.. It's bad. Easiest way to tell, and not an uncommon problem.
Wiping battery stats does nothing. This phone automatically wipes battery stats at 100% charge.

This has to do with the way ICS reads you battery %. If it is going up on it's own then the % it tells you is just wrong. There is not much you can do to fix it except don't flash things all the time. It usually will happen when you are flashing things.
The battery being bad is also an option but I have never seen it go up on it's own when the battery is bad.
