Anybody else having trouble seeing internal storage on a mac?The very first time i plugged it in i got sd and the hard drive.but now i just get the sd. Im running cm7 if that matters.
I'm running CM7 Build #26 (Fresh wipe) and both EMMC and the SD card mount just fine under Mac OS X 10.6.6. Did you do a flashover or is this a fresh install? Also you might try unplugging it, logging out and then back in.
I've never had any problems.

I upgraded from Oxygen RC6 to RC7, in between, I performed s-off, flashed the oxygen hboot table, resized the sd card with gparted and then formatted card. I then did a full wipe and installed RC7.
However, I can no longer see the SD card as being mounted once I boot up the desire, if I go to recovery>advanced>usb i'm able to see the the card fine and i'm able to install stuff via recovery but it seems as though the card isn't being mounted once it boots.
Also, when I connect via usb it starts charging instead of coming up with the sd card files. Tried turning usb debugging on/off but that doesn't help.
Any ideas how to rectify this?
edit: tried a different micro sd card and it's doing the same thing
Could be an issue with the ROM. You could try another 2.3 ROM.
Does your PC recognize your phone? You might a have a usb brick and have to flash the modified misc partition. Search ad usb brick modaco.
Sent from my LeeDroided Desire HD
managed to sort it in the end, formatted the card in recovery then plugged it in and it came up with a dialog box in windows saying format the card (again), after which it started detecting the card again.
At least that's what I think it was anyway
Hello. I have an HTC Desire and I just installed Ginger Villan 1.8 and I'm using 2.0i havs 1113Mhz cfs kernel. Sometimes, the phone reboots after installing apps from the Market. First I tried to wipe Market's cache but it didn't work. Then I tried to format the SD card again: I plugged the phone in USB storage mode and loaded Gparted live. But the phone reboots when Gparted starts loading! I tried to plug the phone again, but Gparted was unable to detect the SD card. The SD card is OK. I used a Card Reader to plug it and then Gparted detects it just fine. The card it's a Kingston Taiwan class 4, 4 GB. What can I do? Format again and reflash Ginger Villain? Use another Kernel? Restore my stock ROM? I'm lost!
Edited: I've already fixed it
and how did you do this. im having problems with the latest version.
keeps rebooting on its own.
Use a different kernel, try on that's not overclocked, a standard 998mhz one.
im lets say a bit of a noob when it comes to flashing my phone.
so could you please explain how.
i really appreciate it
Now I'm not moaning about CyanogenMod here, I'm just trying to understand how I can fix the issue.
Basically, I had CyanogenMod 7 RC2 on my Desire Z. That was it.
Eventually I saw through ROM Manager that the full release of 7 was out so I downloaded, took a backup, wiped everything and did a fresh install of the new ROM.
It installed fine, but none of my apps that needed root access were getting it.
So I booted into recovery, restored my backup, root was back.
I then installed 7.0 over my RC2. That worked fine, but again root was gone.
At this point, my phone started damaging SD cards.
It suddenly started saying that my 8GB card that came with the phone was damaged. I tried to fix it on the phone, but it just said 'Checking card' and then giving up.
Putting it in an old MP3 player, it is not detected at all.
Putting it in a card reader, the card is unreadable and when I try to format it Windows says the card is 'read only' (this is not due to the reader).
I put a functional 2gb card I had lying around into my Desire Z and it broke it in the exact same way.
My question to you guys is - what could be causing this and how do I fix it because I have a 16gb card coming and I'm obviously cautious of putting it in the phone.
Also, how would I go about flashing the new Cyanogenmod 7.02 ROM if my phone keeps breaking SD cards I put into it?
This error can be because when ever you install a CyanogenMod ROM over another, It leaves files your new ROM think is useful such as data that the new ROM doesn't support. It is damaging your SD Card because it keeps attempting to fix the error but is making it worst by trying to remove system files. Your best bet is to try another ROM and see if it does the same thing and report it to CyanogenMod Developer Team if it only does this to CyanogenMod ROMs otherwise it would be just a virus on your SD Card feeding off of personal data. If it is only CyanogenMod ROMs, we will adress this issue ASAP. Hope I helped
Thank you VS4, you are indeed helpful
I've since heard some people have managed to fix their SD cards by formatting them in ClockworkMod but I can't even mount it first in order to do this! Is my card truly dead?
Also, do you think the reason that CM7.0 had no root (even when it was a clean install) was due to me not 'fixing permissions'?
Thanks
Just a note to say that I've managed to fix it!
Despite being unable to 'mount sdcard' in clockworkmod, I found I was able to activate USB Storage and through this I was able to format the card (Windows 7 was previously saying that the same card was 'read only' in a multitude of card readers).
I hope this helps any poor chap with the same problem.
I had this exact same problem, munched 2 of my 8GB cards, and had a 16 on the way. I somehow fixed it before the 16 came and I've never had the issue since, glad to see an explanation of it.
Thanks, nofixio!
I had the same problem on my Samsung Fascinate with CM7. It ate my 16GB SD card to the point where the phone wouldn't recognize it, CWM wouldn't mount it, and it wouldn't show up on my computer in multiple SD readers.
I wasn't quite clear what you were suggesting when you said you were able to "activate USB Storage." I thought maybe you meant within CWM. That didn't work for me, but I was able to boot the phone up with the problem SD card in it and turn on USB storage as normal. Suddenly my computer could not only see the SD card, it could see all the files that were on it before it died! I backed everything up, formatted the card in Windows, and everything's good now. Thanks for the tip!

I'm not sure why you would ask this in such an old thread but... Try just plugging it in to your computer maybe? What ROM are you on?

im running cm7 ... it wont read from computer. i tried several micro sd card readers. it just tells me it cant format. its just like what was mentioned before.
Weird, I've never had any problems with Cyanogen 7 roms. I've flashed one over another and had no issues at all, Mayb because I use SuperWipe before hand? Or maybe its a certain sd card issue???
Running Desire Z and Andromadus Beta 11 I had similar problem after I had applied remote wipe from Exchange (wanted to see if it works). Remote wipe worked: it destroyed contents of SD card and erased phone back to factory settings. After wipe mounting SD card failed and Andromadus seemed to be unable to format the card.
Solution: Booted phone to Clockwork recovery and applied advanced -> Partition SD Card.
Posted this on this thread since it came first when searching solution.

Go into Recovery (Clockwork), go to mounts and storage, then scroll down and it should say mount USB storage.
Hello i just rooted my phone and i installed cm 7.0.3 stable but micro sd its destroyed and it cannot be formated.
The same sd its working in official 2.2.1 rom.
Can someone help me plz?
Try formatting your SDCard on a PC. I remember getting SDCard errors a while back, (Camera wouldn't work, there were random notifications about damaged SDCard etc) and formatting solved it.
Only its working when i am formating it with clockworkmod not pc,but i have issues with usb transfer.
Sorry, I cant seem to get what your issue is, your 2 posts have conflicting issues. In your 1st post, you say you are unable to use your SD, in your 2nd, you say it works but you are only having issues with USB transfer.
So, now the situation is that you have formatted the SDCard using Clockworkmod, and now its working find on your Wildfire, but, not when you connect it to the PC. Is that right? In that case, have you flashed any kernel after flashing CM?
Ok i fixed it now i just formated it with clockworkmod 4.0.0.5 and reflashed cm7.
It works perfect now thanks for the help anyway
I accidentally reformatted my droid incredible 2 /system while in clockwork recovery now no computer will detect the phone
tried restoring from backups, but still same problem
Did you wipe before restoring backups? Did you reflash the ROM? The /system folder is replaced every time you put a new ROM on.
yes ive rewiped every single time, and ive installed 3 different roms, cyanogenmod nightly 56 , rmk 2.3.3 and virtuous unity 2.37.0, all with same results, phone charges but i can not mount the sd.
ive even restored from back ups and nothing
ive tried connecting with windows 7, and while its trying to read the hardware
"android driver 1.0" fails (if that helps)
Does your phone recognize the sd card?
have you tried formatting the sd card itself? If not try that, format as fat32. I've had this issue before and it turned out my sdcard was corrupted. Did you try another card?
Yes, my phone does recognize my SD card, I've tried a different card and same result, I tried to format the second card to test out, and nothing. I then, for the hell of it, installed another ROM (incredible sensation) but this time through ROM manager, and I updated my recovery to 5.0.2.0. and now it works again, so thanks guys, maybe it was a combination of all these tips.

Is debugging checked? Are you selecting charge mode or disk drive mode?
