Hi,
I have CWM to 2.0.2.4 recovery and i want to install 2.5.0.7, so how do install it, just download the .zip of 2.5.0.7 and update it via cwm or is there any other procedure??
I think if you flash it through recovery, it will only do a "fake flash", so it will run once but not be written to the memory. You need to go into fastboot, connect to your pc via usb, then enter "fastboot flash recovery xxxxx.img" (where the last bit is the name if the recovery file you downloaded. If it's a zip, extract the img from the zip first.

hi
i have a desire with leedroid 2.2d , i want to install the psfreedom.img recovery image , how can i do this?
thanks
How can I flash the recovery image please anybody

I'd say place it in a folder on your SD and try to restore it with the restore option in recovery mode. However without md5 sum it certainly will not accept it... good luck !

just use a command prompt to navigate to the tools folder inside the android sdk, connect your device in fastboot mode to your pc, and use the command "fastboot flash recovery xxxxxx.img" (i think) or it might just be "fastboot flash xxxxxxx.img ive never had to flash a recovery from fastboot
tried it and it says psfMod-bravo-0.9.7.1.img not found???
which folder do i have to keep the image in?
I meant it says it cannot be loaded the recovery image file. But what folder do I have to keep the file in

i got clockworkmod 2.5.0.7 on my desire
when i try to update it wir rom manager it says that i have 2.5.0.7 on my phone and the news version available is 2.5.0.7 BUT there is 2.5.1.8 available if i download it manualy ... whats the problem?
btw. i downloaded 2.5.1.8 manualy and installed it manauly - in the recoverymenue it says i have 2.5.1.8 bei in the rom manager it says i have 2.5.0.7
why ity keep saying i hav a older version?
why it doesnt download the newer version?
where is the problem?
oh i had the problem with the open desire rom 4.0.36 and now with oxygen 2.0 rc3 ...
btw. the phone works good ... but its wird to me ...
Your permanent recovery is 2.5.0.7.you flashed this with revoked. 2.5.1.8 is fake flashing. If you have s-off you can flash latest recovery through fastboot.

S-OFF is done - AlphaRev
but how to install the new clockworkmod now?
i have tryed but it always came back to 2.5.0.7 ...
if you already have s-off you must put your phone in fastboot, connect to pc. download latest recovery image of CWM and put name.img (where "name" is the name of the recovery img and i recommend that you name it recovery.img) in tools folder of sdk.open a command prompt and navigate to the tools folder of sdk(example cd C:\android-sdk-windows\tools)
then enter
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img (waut for send and write message, wait for done message)
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot reboot
exit

if you don't have android sdk try to flash it with unrevoked. from the upper left menu of unrevoked select custom image and find the .img you downloaded. i have not tried this myself but i read that this works also. i use fastboot.
if you want anything else PM me. i recommend now that you have s-off you start to learn basic command line.

i sent you a PN
for all the others ...
update with unrevoked worked .. i got now 2.5.1.8 but now the supersuer isnt working an i cannot update it with the version from the market ...

I had same thing after doing S-off by alpharev.
I had Amon-ra and now cwm. I wish to go back to Amon-ra so my question is:
Is this method (link below) will be good for desire too?
http://theunlockr.com/2009/10/15/how-to-flash-a-new-recovery-image-if-you-are-already-rooted/
Thanks for your patience and reply.
so i have it on my phone and everything but when its in the boot screen its saying that the img files arent there i dont know what im doing wrong
did you put the file on the root of the card? is there two .zip extensions?
which two files? what are the links? I just want to make sure i got the right ones and which folder is the root of the phone?
/mnt/sdcard
any file in there would be in the root of your sd card
yea i put everything on that but my phone keeps on saying it dosent find the images what are the links for those images? sorry
What step in the root process are you exactly? Why are you trying to flash something in the bootloader?
im on the processes where my phone is suppose to find this PC36IMG.zip
The best way to flash recovery after revolutionary use is via fastboot.i downloaded the fastboot HTC drivers, theyre listed on revolutionary wiki. Placed the recovery.img in tge same folder as the fastboot,at least thats what I did, then I issued fastboot flash recovery recovery.img via Command line in windows.you have to boot into bootloader/HBoot mode, and wait for it to scan then click the power button once to get to fastboot usb.thats on windows...hope this helps.
Evo 4G Synergy RC2
yea idk fastboot is not reading the zip or image file i have no idea why
what zip are you trying to flash and where did you download it from? according to the guides for revolutionary, you do not need to flash a pc36img in hboot.
Its not a zip its an img file.youre directly overwriting recovery via fastboot.you issue those commands from your computer not your phone.theres a thread here on xda that tells the process more in detail..if I can find it ill link yoy
Evo 4G Synergy RC2
What recovery are you running? Clockwork? And did you install it with revolutionary? If you did all you have to do is
1. boot into the boot loader (power off pull the battery power on with volume down)
2. Select recovery (This will reboot the phone and you will be brought into recovery mode).
3. When you get to clockwork, select install zip from sdcard.
4. Choose zip from sdcard and select your zip file thats on the root of the sdcard.
5. It should then go through a list of things while it installs.
The zip for root can be found here (this is the link from the install page):
http://goo-inside.me/superuser/su-2.3.6.3-efgh-signed.zip
To Install clockwork you need to download
http://download.clockworkmod.com/recoveries/recovery-clockwork-3.0.0.5-supersonic.img
The rename it to:
PC36IMG.zip
Boot into recovery and it should attempt to install it. NOTE This will only work if you have s-Off and have run revolutionary.
This can also be done with AR.
@tnerb once s-off is there you have to flash CWM or other custom recovery via fastboot first.then you flash the superuser zip via custom recovery

Quick question does any one know where I can find the recovery that was downloaded to my phone when I used the revolutionary root method? I need that exact recovery to restore my original nand and me being an idiot I didn't make another nand with Amon after I flashed it.

Ok, so I bricked my wildire s.
Is there a way to install the unofficial cm mod using fastboot?
It seems I need boot.img, systems.img and data.img but in the "unofficial-CM7-marvel-nigthly-20111218.zip", I can only find boot.img. I do seem to have Clockworks Recovery Mode installed. And it's unlocked via htcdev.com.
I need to do it via fastboot, because i dont think I can access the sd card while in hboot, fastboot.
And if anyone reads this, please learn from me and always create a backup before you do anything with your phone. Otherwise you'll end up with just a brick.
Just reinstall cwm with recovery.img
in fastboot mode type:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
cwm recovery.img is attached below.
then you can install cm7 from cwm

This might work.
How "bricked" is it? Does it boot to hboot/fastboot with vol down/power after a battery removal/replace?
If so follow the instructions to install CWM recovery then flash CM7.2 1218 Nightly and GAPPS from there.
yeah hboot, fastboot and cwm is working. However i can't figure out how to access the sd card while in these modes. So, I am not sure if i can install cm with the traditional method.
So I am trying to figure out how to do it via fastboot.

In CWM you have the possibility to mount sdcard to your pc. what you need is the cm7 zip file, nothing more.
Guys you are awesome!
It works, it's installing
Thanks

Hi,
I try to format my HTC DESIRE S but ends with error.
"The recovery hasn't been configure!"
Use 4EXT Recovery Control or the free app 4EXT Recovery Updater, which is available on www.4ext.net to setup the recovery and to unlock configurable features. Hint: check out recovery settings
I have downloaded in to sd card but its an application and I cannot install the app because im still in recovery mode and cannot access the phone like dialing etc.

You can download a zip file with {4EXT Recovery}.img and flash it manually from your bootloader by using the command fastboot flash recovery recovery.img.
4EXT Recovery Touch (Saga)
If you want more informations about 4EXT Recovery for HTC Desire S you can check this out.
If you have an older 4EXT Recovery installed try to delete the "4ext" folder from your sdcard. The recovery will recreate the settings folder. It may helps you with the error.
I have try to use "Fastboot" but couldn't connect even using htc sync and adb. Its totally cannot connect the phone to my computer. I have install the "recovery.img" file in sdcard and run it, and getting :
" this zip isn't meant to be flashed in recovery! It might be a bootloader flashable zip or nota flashable zip at all. Installation aborted."
