I have used SR Athena for a while and love the ROM. Thanks to the developer for such a trouble free ROM. My question is, (and i have searched for the answer the best i could have) is there any way to implement T9 touch input for texting and typing. I have used that for so long and find it easier. I have searched the market and alot of threads in this forum and cannot find a solution. thank you in advance for any help
Try this, I imagine it will work with Athena. Menu>Settings>Language&Keyboard>Touch Input>Keyboard Types> Select 'Phone Keypad', when your phone is vertical you'll have T9 and when you go landscape you'll have the full Qwerty. Hope this helps.
It doesn't give me an option for phone keypad with Athena, like it does with other roms. The only option it has is android keyboard

Ok. I figured it out. I used the htc_ime download from the nexus one forum. T9 is installed and working like a charm. Hope this info might help any others looking for T9 when using Athena.

This is a request does anyone know how to get htc keyboard, done a search but did not find. Help would be appreciated.
Install apktor from the market. Search Google for repositories for it. Some of them have apps that are not allowed on the market such as the HTC keyboard which is obviously copyrighted.
Can I just say that it is by far the best keyboard out there.

Swype is miles ahead of any keyboards I have ever used, even all the hardware ones (see my sig)
Search on my posts I posted a link to prepare and download custom versions of the HTC keyboard.

just grab and install htc mod (you can find it in nexus section), i did this and it works great
Thanks guys for your help, I'm so used to the desire keyboard and the auto correction and suggestion which IMHO is easier to use and more accurate. I sold my black desire which I enjoyed using and sort of made a rash move by buying samy s. I just can't get over the lagging and the gps issue which was working perfectly on desire. Ow well i'm stuck now got to make most of this.
I wish I could sort out this lagging issue which sometimes drives me mad. I did read about people complaining lagging issue I seriously didn't expect it ot be this bad honestly.
Where can i find in htc section? internet is so slow here in this hotel... someone can help?

Seriously, modaco's lag fix should be stickied on to sgs forums.
Since I went and applied the fix, all my apps open and close amazingly super FAST.
So, stop complaining and DO IT.

Hey guys
So I installed swiftkey to try out a new keyboard and I did not like. So I uninstalled it. Bit now I have different keyboard. Its not the original Desire stock one. How do I select the original keyboard?
Thanks all!

Not sure how that's happened or how to change it if the settings "language & keyboard" menu doesn't change it back (sorry), just thought I'd mention that if you didn't like swiftkey, give Ultra keyboard a go. It's fantastic.
My swype beta recently expired, and after searching for alternatives I came across this one. So much better than swype. You can customize practically everything. You can change it's skin too, and all the free skins on the market place for the "better keyboard" also work!
There is a trial period before you pay for it, but trust me it's well worth it.

Thanks. However my country doesn't support paid apps.

try a long press in a txt area and see what pops up.
I installed ultra keyboard anyway and while installing it showed me how to change the keyboard. Back on the stick one now!
Thanks!

As the title says, I find that when I save a word and go to type it later it still does not come up in the auto spell. It's unbearably annoying. It does not Learn any of my words.
Anyone has this problem or know of a solution?
I don't have a problem with this but I Don't know how to fix it
Sent from my R800x using XDA
go into language and keyboard then default input then quick text settings then word suggestions that will fix the problem.
that did not help
Use a proper keyboard. Swiftkey and Swype demolish the stock keyboard.
My phone dont remember words too but im not using dictionary, so its not a big problem for me. Maybe there is no possibility to learn or u must show which word should be remembered? Or there is a bug? If yes there wont be any official updates for 2.3 i think

yeah it's def a bug. I'm surprised that more people haven't complained about this. I use Go Keyboard and it makes no difference.
Yes, my xplay can't remember a word I saved in its dictionary.

I have a feeling that I'm asking a dumb question, but I never asked anything here before so cut me some slack. I was running the energy Rom for the last few months and I became accustomed to the keyboard that was built in. Not swype, but the HTC trace in the stock keyboard on that Rom. I finally decided to try a new Rom, swagged out sense, and I'm back to the sense 1.0 layout. It's been so long since I was on a stock-ish Rom that I forgot that the keyboard doesn't have trace built in. Is there a way to port that keyboard onto this Rom? I've done stupid amounts of Google searching so I wouldn't have to ask here, but of course, I couldn't find anything definitive. Sorry about this novel I have written for such a simple question, but I just want to be clear and have anyone who looks at this realize that I'm not being lazy and avoiding searching beforehand. Thanks in advance for the negative outcome here as I believe that I would've been able to find it if it was possible.

Try ripping the .apk from titanium backup or unzipping the ROM.
itll be under system/app
or find the keyboard and attempt to back it up via titanium backup
I unzipped the apk from the Rom and pushed it to the system/app folder, but then lost the keyboard until I rebooted. After reboot, it just kept FC'ing every 5 to 10 seconds. What I'm trying to find out is if there is an incompatibility with the sense 3.5 keyboard working on sense 1.0. Thanks for the response though!

Is there anybody who can give me a definitive answer on whether this is possible? I'm really hating typing without trace.

They're dependent on the frameworks from each Sense version, so I'm sorry, I don't believe it's possible.
Shucks, I thought that would be the case. Thanks for answering that for me. Any recommendations on a third party swype like keyboard that isn't swype? I don't like the native swype one because it sucks when using it to tap certain words and its predictions are usually way off.

I'd uninstall the native Swype and install the Swype Beta. It works better. Other than that, I don't really know if there are other "free" solutions.
I uninstalled swype and attempted to install swype beta but I keep getting an error message saying there is a problem parsing the package. I've seen in their forums that it could be the browser but I don't have the stock browser. Whatever, I'll fix it soon enough. Thanks for the suggestion though.

So i recently just flashed my phone with android hd revolution 6.3.1 and i noticed that i can't type with pinyin anymore. the keyboard comes up but when i type nothing comes up. I am able to write out the characters and input them like that but writing is a pain in butt.
I saw on the forum people recommending installing the language from the htc sense settings but my phone had it default so im not sure what to do about it now.
Thanks for the help.
Flash the rom again don't choose CD suite tools.
