I just discovered that if you go into your Facebook account and enable https in your security settings, the People hub on your phone will no longer update.
I'm still looking through the registry to see where Microsoft has stored the values for updating Facebook content to see if the setting can be changed.
No luck so far.

Interesting.
Mine tells me it unable to collect data whenever I have https enable on Facebook.
I've tried this repeatedly throughout the day turning the setting on and off, reboots, etc. Same results.
If I enable https access in my Facebook settings, the People hub can no longer get updates.
Maybe it's a Samsung thing.
Can't find anything in the registry either. Most of it is unreadable, so it isn't helping matters.

Hey guys, since a few days I have massive problems with syncing my device with google (contacts, calendar, emails). I used activesync with the snyc settings to m.google.com and suddenly it tries to sync always the entire content from new, every time stating that there are changes done on the server side which requires entire resync. does anybody have the same issues and a solution to that?
I could never get it working right. I use goosync (payservice).
I use this for contacts and calendar but couldn't get the email portion to work reliably. I use IMAP for gmail.
mine syncs fine.

same, works perfectly for me.
Although i only use google for calender and e-mail, i use dashwire to back up my contacts.
You have probably already tried it, but have you disabled all but one and checked it to see if you still have the same issue?
If it works properly with just e-mail for example, then add in calender and try it again. If it works then add contacts back in or if it breaks remove calender and try contacts instead.
Might help you track down whats causing the issue.
Just an idea.
Mine syncs fine as well. At first I had problems with syncing because I never set up a Calendar or Contacts with Google, so I unchecked everything except Mail. Try that.
Check this out from wmexperts.com:
Has anyone else noticed that they can't sync Google Gmail via Activesync over the past few days? At first I thought it was just me but soon came to find that the "Error Synchronization" message was being displayed on other Windows phones.
The official error code is 0x8600050c (Communications Error) and in looking over at Google Mobile's Help Forum, there are a few solutions available.
The first suggestion is to delete the current Exchange Server relationship and re-create it. Another solution suggests to un-check the email option in Activesync, reboot the phone, re-check the email option and sync. The latter seems to have the most success.
We couldn't find anything official from Google on the cause of these errors or of a "official" solution. If we hear of anything we'll pass it on.
you dont have tasks selected do you?
google sync is not up to snuff as it currently stands.
having tried it, doing this over & over:

Yes I agree, but to Google's defense, they say this is in Beta, but we are spoiled with great Google products so we are expecting too much. I do wish they would put more effort to it though, it has been like this since November when I tried it and I haven't seen anything improved in 3-4 months.

Oh don't think I am bagging google & all their great products & freebies.
But it just seem they set expectations so high, that they use the excuse of "beta" forever before releasing anything (witness gmail was an invite forever!).
I'm just spoiled!

I had the same problem a few days ago. I deleted the Exchange Server relationship and re-created it, and it's worked fine since. I've had similar problems periodically in the past - I chalk it up to it being a free service.
I got google sync to work, just got my touch pro2 on sunday. works with my main google calendar, saw a user around here recommend ActiveGCSync for additional google calendars, will try that tonight. The only problem I had is i initially synced all my gmail contacts to my phone (most without names or phone numbers), so then I unchecked 'contacts' thinking it would take them out, but instead it removed ALL the contacts from my phone But now all my phone contacts are backed up in my gmail I guess I will have to clean up the mess manually and sync them back up...
I spent a good part of my day so far editing all my gmail contacts and merging duplicates and the last tihng I did was set up a bunch of new 'groups' under the contacts in gmail. I was hoping that after I sync'd back up that I would be able to use the google created contact groups as a means of filtering my contact list, but this seems not to be the case.
From searching around here I ran across a program called 'Seven' and others, which I will explore if there isn't another way. But I was hoping someone could give me some ideas other than individually editing the "Category" of each contact, which seems to be the field which it looks at for "Filter" under the menu soft key.
Thanks
I use Seven Beta to sync all my mail accs. On creation gives me the option for sync of contacts and calendar as well. Everything works great.

Do you sync google contacts that you have put into groups, and then can you use the TouchFlo contact list to filter them by those groups?
Just trying to understand how this works...
For some reason, when I download my email on Outlook which is supposed to be a full download from the servers (therefore, not readable anymore from devices), it doesn't remove those emails from my phone the way it used to in the past. So I have to delete them from my phone as well. What setting do I have wrong here? I can delete from the server on my phone, but it doesn't automatically delete them when I check them on Outlook.
Am I making sense??
Thanks.

Sounds like you need IMAP. POP3 simply downloads and deletes from the server, it doesn't do anything to sync across devices. IMAP syncs, rather than downloads, so it should always appear the same on all devices.

Hmm... I don't think I'm communicating properly. Let me try again.
Here's what I used to be able to do... with POP3
1. Get email while I'm out
2. Check, read email on my phone
3. Get home, check Outlook, emails downloaded
4. Emails automatically removed from phone
Can't seem to do that anymore, and I'm wondering what I may have switched in my settings. Could it have something to do with my POP or SMTP settings?
Thanks

Hmm. I have never known POP to be able to delete files from other devices after you delete them from one place. I don't actually use email on my phone other than the gmail app, so I have never had to use those settings, so unless someone else can give a better answer I would just fiddle with the settings on your phone, outlook, and web server to see if you can find an option to synchronize deletions or something rather.
The new update seems pretty good, except facebook......
I can not figure out how to just use the facebook app without automatically syncing all my contacts/pictures etc.
I can remove the accounts (yes automatic 2 accounts in the sync menu) but then there is no facebook at all.
when I just use the normal facebook app, the other account pops up again..
then it asks for my permission, witch I don't want to give (that option is there).
So when I give permission that I don't want to sync my contacts an pics.
I get the message every time again that there is something wrong with the syncing with facebook..
I need ROOT fast, so I can delete this stupid facebook ****

You should be able to turn it of in contact settings. There you can choose wish phonebooks to use. Same in calender.
I can't find any settings, too. Neither in the "SE settings", nor in the apps using the FB integration.

I can only uncheck the whole sync, not separate ones. :/
Edit: Found it. I had "auto sync" turned off, so there weren't any checkboxes to deselect specific syncs, of course. ^^
Thanks, i will prove
Facebook privacy
The new integration in 2.3.3. update looks very good on paper but:
When I want to enable sync it gives me a webpage that wants access to just about anything from me and my friends on facebook. The list goes on and on. from access to my friends list to being able to send me emails and post messages on my wall and access to all my photo's
Why do they need access to all this privacy related stuff.
I choose to NOT give permission and therefore I can not use the facebook integration, too bad but it keeps asking me to give permission every time even when I have switched off the sync on the facebook account.
are more people having this issue?
Yeah... I know what you mean... I did grumpily just give it the access.
Photos -> Gallery
Post on Wall -> Like-Button
Friends List -> update Contacts
Email -> ???
Shame that you can't deselect them seperately.

Your phone can be set to automatically upload photos to a service (SkyDrive) once you taken them.
Settings > pictures > Turn off automatic uploading.
When you say they are being uploaded to Facebook via Live Messenger, what do you mean? Because Windows Phone 7 does not upload photos to services via Live Messenger.
Hi,
Thanks for the response.
i see only option automatic upload to skydrive which i have already disabled. I do not see any option turn off automatic uploading.
to clarify, when i see some random pic is showing in me tile, if i go in there, it shows the pic uploaded with the text like this,
'Messenger about <Time> ago'
has a new picture
Yea, the problem lies that it´s autouploading to skydrive, and "Messenger" (basically a WL network agent for facebook), is posting that entry on your wall.
You may have to disable any live services on the facebook.com side of things...
Thank you all for the responses.
i have the autoupload to skydrive disabled still it is uploading somehow.and also i have checked in live.com skydrive camera roll and the latest photo which got updated is not even there but there on live page and facebook page. let me check and disable all.
When you go to http://profile.live.com are your photos appearing in the area called "Messenger social"?
If they are, then something, either your Phone, Windows Live, or an application tied to your phone/Windows Live ID is uploading and posting photos to a service on your behalf.
Natively, Windows Phone can only automatically upload to SkyDrive, and by default, those uploads will appear on your Windows Live social feed. If you set the privacy setting for the Camera roll folder to "Just me", then your photos will be private and while they may appear on your social feed for you, they will not appear for other people.

Thanks to all.
I have changed the permissions of skydrive camera roll to private. Also changed the facebook connect permissions to remove live only getting information not posting to wall.
Hopefully it will resolve.
Thanks & Regards,

Hi all.
I have had a S9+ for the past week.
On Friday I logged in to my Facebook account via either Chrome or Edge.
I have since discovered that the pre-installed Facebook app has my log in details and is sending me notifications and tracking my location.
How on earth did the Facebook app grab my log in details from a browser?
Same account logged into Chrome as Android probably, synced login details between devices?
No idea, I disable that PoS app as soon as possible
Assuming you're coming from another phone, I believe some app information like log-in credentials can sync to the new phone as soon as you log in to your Google and/or Samsung accounts, which each store some level of backup information.

Yep, what's really stupid is not being able to uninstall it. There are too many apps around that are way better. It's top of my disable list along with email, Gmail and briefing.

Thanks for the reply (and apologies for the tardy reply).
I have never previously used a Facebook app and only ever accessed FB via a browser. I still cannot see how my details were transferred from the browser to the app.

I went from a Microsoft Lumia to the S9. My Lumia was devoid of anything to do with Samsung or Google.
I would never install the FB app and hadn't even realised that it was pre-installed.

Your PC does though (Google)
Probably checks for any Facebook login cookies and then just uses them to sign you in. If you have FB Messenger that'll also try to get you logged in maybe Instagram or WhatsApp. It maybe gets your phone number it reads off the phone and associates it with your account?
I wouldn't be surprised if something else was going on behind the scenes. Facebook is one of if not the shadiest companies around. They automatically opt-in users for new features/services to gather more data on you.
Do you use anyothher Facebook owned apps like instagram? Or whatsapp. If it js your chrome browser then it is synced from you saving ur login credentials on a different PC

I don't use Instagram, FB messanger or WhatsApp, however I did install WhatsApp on my previous phone, the MS Lumia, for a week and then deleted it.
I can't help thinking that someone somewhere has fallen foul of the GDPR regulations by passing my data from one app to another without asking me for my permission.

That's exactly what social media and the majority of companies do nowadays. They violate all kinds of regulations to track you.
Go thru your Facebook security settings and see what apps are currently connected or authorized to use your account.
