[Q] Garbled Calls - G2 and Desire Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

On some roms I get over half of my calls all garbled up. Usually on the other end. Someone is like "your phone sounds crazy! Call me back." It keeps happening until a reboot.
Any idea what causes this? Is it a kernel thing, a radio image thing?
Like I said, it only seems to happen with certain roms.
Thanks if you have any insight!!

I've had this once, and it sounded freaky to the other person. CM 7.

This has been happening to my room mate with her Desire Z on Bell. I have read about a few others having the same issue and even having their phones replaced 2 or 3 times and it still happens to them. I am in the process of trying to troubleshoot or at least narrow down the problem
I hope that any others having the issue can post here as well, hopefully we can narrow down what causes it and find a fix, it is driving my room mate nuts.

Callers complaining of voice echoing?

Recently callers have been complaining that they hear their voice echo when talking to me...its only on their end...everything sounds fine on my end. It also only seems to happen when receiving calls from other cell phones. Is this happening to you? Also please state what rom you are using so we can try to determine if this is rom-related or a sprint service problem.
First back to the question... I don't recall. But so far I haven't heard it on my phone.
Using my HTC Evo phone which I'm using Xda app to post
I take it your running MIUI? The last couple of builds have had this issue. It will get worked out.
im not having the issue, but i would like to know, which rom are you on and did you ever fix it?
The only time this has come up is when people use the MIUI ROM. This is a known problem in that ROM
Try turning your speaker volume down as low as you can still hear it. Echo is caused by the combination of lag and the sound from the earpiece getting picked up by the mic.
Yes I'm using MIUI. Someone just complained about it for the 1st time the other day. I read it was common in MIUI rom but wanted to see if others had the same problem. It doesn't appear to happen when talking to someone on a land line...nor does it happen when talking to my fiancée who has tmobile. I thought about switching roms by i like MIUI too much. I don't talk on the phone much/for very long...so the people i talk to can suck it up for a few mins lol
Did you upgrade to the new MIUI from 1/23? They said it's fixed in that.

[Q] Problem with radio?

Hey guys, I've been having a problem with my Evo for the past couple of weeks that doesn't seem to change no matter which ROM I'm running. Basically what happens is when I'm on a long phone call, as soon as the call timer hits the 30:00 minute mark then the conversation cuts out and all I hear is the busy signal tone and have to hang up the call. I've tried wiping and reflashing and it hasn't changed; it literally happens every time I'm on a call for thirty minutes. For the past few weeks I've been running MikGinger 2.0/2.1 and today changed to Synergy RC1 to see if it corrected the issue but it didn't. I've always done full wipes between ROMs so I'm kind of at a loss. I'm on PRI 2.15 and PRL 60679 if that makes any difference. Any ideas?
Can anyone help me out with this problem? I've searched all over this forum, the General forum, and all over Google. The only things I can think of is that its a Sprint+GV integration problem (not likely since I've been using it for months with no problem) or a PRI/radio issue. If anyone has any suggestions I'd really appreciate it.
Maybe your phones trying to tell you to shut up haha jk but if its every rom then maybe android was made to do that? I personally haven't experienced this because i don't talk on the phone for more than like 1 min at a time haha ill test it and get back to you sometime later in the day.

Problem with S2 going into silent mode on its own

I have had my own SGS2 since it came out and have had no issues at all. I got one for my gf and gave it to her a few days ago and she already has experienced some strange issues. The most important of those issues is that the phone randomly (and quite frequently) goes into silent mode. It happens in the middle of normal use or if the phone is just sitting on the table. Its definitely not a matter of accidentally hitting the volume button or something like that. This is an issue because she is missing all her calls and notifications. The phone is rooted and is running GB 2.3.5 ....Anyone have any idea how to fix this? any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Same here too .. I have tried so many roms to get rid of this problem ,,, but same
I thought I was just crazy! My phone does this all the time. Very annoying.

My phone has been doing that from day 1, I thought it must be somehow a changed setting while in my pocket (it it moving or something)...nice to know that it isn't just my phone
Yea I have no idea what it is ..strange. I don't know if her phone still has the problem. According to her it doesn't happen anymore but then again she has her phone on vibrate 99.9% of the time so I can't really know if it is still changing on its own
it is very annoying...I have missed important phone call because of it. I just did not think it was the phone doing it on its own (strange issue for a phone to have). I don't think I have heard of any other phone doing such a thing.
Did you find any solution to this annoyance? I am facing this for quite sometime and don't have a clue on how to fix this

[Q] Strange sound issue

Well, it's been about 4 months since I upgraded to this phone, and I've had the same issue, whether it be on ICS (stock, Lifeless, Imperium) or on JB (stock, Lifeless, Imperium)-haven't flashed CM. The issue is, and as far as I can tell, at random, my media sound (YouTube, music, videos-no matter the player) quits on me, up until a reboot, after which it's fine until the next random time it happens. Sometimes I'll go several days with no problems, and other times it'll happen, and then 2 minutes after a reboot, happen again. I've done a little troubleshooting, and haven't had any leads. So, I wanted to put this out and see if there is anyone else having a similar issue, or if maybe something is just up with my specific device.

I am not saying this is the cause but on rare occasions the audio hardware/controller will start to fail. Out of the thousands of phones I've worked on I've seen this only a handful of times. Another cause is a fault in the LG software itself but I would expect to see more reports of this issue if that was that case.
I suggest flashing over to CM and see if you can duplicate it. If so then the audio hardware is suspect. If not, then yet anther LG software bug has shown up.

I just thought it was strange that it's happened on both OS's and all the ROMs, so I'd leaned toward it being my device. No permanent issues, mostly just an annoyance. Since I rely on my phone for work and such, I've been hesitant on flashing CM. It also hasn't gotten worse or better over time. The most random thing I've experienced on a phone. Oh well, it's not enough of a problems to have to deal with Sprint to try and get it replaced. Mostly just wanted to see if anyone else had experienced it.

Notification sound disappear

Randomly my notification sound disappear.
No problem with the rest of the phone, if I reboot there's no problems.
I've not found a way to restore sounds except a reboot that is trivial and unacceptable twice a day.
Someone has this problems?
Any idea?

It's probably a software related problem.
She was using something connected with bluetooth or using spotify?
No Spotify. The last time something was connected via Bluetooth would have been 8 hours prior on her way home from work.
did you guys find out the cause? it happens to my mom as well. seems like an app might be the problem. but I don't know which one.
thanks
No, I can't figure out why. I've tried with n7player and, same problem.
Could be headphones ? I really don't know but, this phone is really disappointing.
Happened again yesterday, using n7 and headphone but, I've done a call using earphones so, could be a earphone issues that not restore correct audio channel after headphone are unplugged?
In this case, is there a way to reset only audio avoiding a full reboot?
anybody figure this out? super annoying lol..
In my case it happens after I disconnect from Bluetooth hands free
Happens to me every day. I thought it was an app but I doubt it now. I have a n5 and n5x set up identical, non rooted, all stock, same apps.
5X looses audio all the time. Twice a day maybe. Annoying is an understatement.
I've got the same issue. Anyone come across a solution yet?

I'll keep you guys posted but for some odd reason, I feel it's candy crush that causes the problem. My mom plays it alot and she told me it wasn't working. I did everything (but reboot of course). Then i noticed the only app open was candy crush so I swiped it to close it. and boom.. it started ringing again. idk if it's coincidence but I'll check again if she tells me its not ringing.

I don't play games. It happens every time I start a call from my wearable. No other problems but, I can't solve avoiding a reboot.
Someone can tell me please a way to report a bugreport to google? Becouse I can reproduce the bug so, probably I could be useful. But I don't know how to sumbit a complete bug report, with all necessary info.
