Hey guys, I've been having a problem with my Evo for the past couple of weeks that doesn't seem to change no matter which ROM I'm running. Basically what happens is when I'm on a long phone call, as soon as the call timer hits the 30:00 minute mark then the conversation cuts out and all I hear is the busy signal tone and have to hang up the call. I've tried wiping and reflashing and it hasn't changed; it literally happens every time I'm on a call for thirty minutes. For the past few weeks I've been running MikGinger 2.0/2.1 and today changed to Synergy RC1 to see if it corrected the issue but it didn't. I've always done full wipes between ROMs so I'm kind of at a loss. I'm on PRI 2.15 and PRL 60679 if that makes any difference. Any ideas?
Can anyone help me out with this problem? I've searched all over this forum, the General forum, and all over Google. The only things I can think of is that its a Sprint+GV integration problem (not likely since I've been using it for months with no problem) or a PRI/radio issue. If anyone has any suggestions I'd really appreciate it.
Maybe your phones trying to tell you to shut up haha jk but if its every rom then maybe android was made to do that? I personally haven't experienced this because i don't talk on the phone for more than like 1 min at a time haha ill test it and get back to you sometime later in the day.

This is happening to 2 people at work with stock Incredibles w/2.2. I have never experienced this on my phone which is rooted with stock 2.2 ROM.
You press Phone, either dial a number or click from the list, it starts to dial and then immediately disconnects. Rebooting the phone will correct it until the next time it fails (Usually once a week).
Tried using Task Killer on one of the phones but it didnt make a difference.. Can someone point me to a thread or help out? I can't seem to find this issue, or my keyword searching stinks
Does the screen go completely black and freeze up when this happens?
Nope, everything seems to work except the phone. I should problem check Phone Identity in About Phone when it happens I guess.
I'm surprised that there aren't more replies to this thread because 1 out of 3 DINCs at my work are doing it.

Noone else has this problem? Very odd...
This has been happening on my Epic 4G for awhile now and it's really frustrating. I'm pretty sure this hasn't been happening the whole time I've owned the phone, but at this point it's hard to really remmber.
Basically, when I make or receive a call, within a couple\few minutes of the phone call the caller suddenly can't hear me - this happens whether it's using the phone normally, in speakerphone mode, or even a headset. As soon as it happens and the other caller starts the "Hello? Are you still there?" I can fix it by toggling the speaker on and off (or off and on) and it fixes it - but it can suddenly start again at anytime...couple of minutes later, five minutes later, etc.
Right now I'm slowly removing apps from my phone after every call this happens on - my goal is to determine if a particualr app is confusing my phone. I don't think it's the ROM or modem I'm using (Frozen 1.2, EC05) as I did a stock flash and flashed to those just recently and others aren't having the same problem. I DID restore some data so if I can't narrow down an app that's causing it, not restoring any data is my next option (but even more time consuming to figure out specifically which data is causing issues).
I'm pretty sure the phone hasn't always done this so I don't want to exchange the phone considering I don't have any other issues and I think this is software, not hardware related. Has anyone experienced anything similar to this?
Have you tried switching Roms, I have this same problem on EC05 when I moved to gingerbread it stopped happening.......
Do you voodoo installed?

I was having the same problem with EF02 and the EF02/EF10 modems. I switched back to the EC05 modem and haven't had the problem since (knocking on wood)...

I do have Voodoo installed (since it comes with Frozen 1.2). I haven't tried switching ROMs yet but I have started looking again (I was pretty content with Frozen but if no one had a similar issue and changing the modem doesn't work then a ROM switch is my next try).
Thanks to others who suggested changing modems - I'm going to do that now and see if EE03 fixes this....*crosses fingers*

Go into you Voodoo sound settings and change recording setting to Original. Shoul fix your issue.

Sure you are not hitting the mute button by accident? Sounds dumb but I've done that before.

Yes! Mine started doing this a couple months ago, and I resolve it exactly the same way (though I have to hit the volume button once, either up or down, then toggle speaker on then off). It's definitely not the ROM because I've had it with both Froyo and GB ROMs. Unfortunately, I haven't found any other solution, yet. I'm hoping it will go away with official GB, but I have no real reason to think it will work. I'm going to play around with the Voodoo sound.

you guys shouldn't be having this problem make a backup then odin to ec05 stock and check if you still have the issue if you do just take it to sprint and show the tech your problem they should fix it or get you a replacement phone.
I have the same issue. I am completely stock. It usually happens 10 to 15 minutes into a phone call. I've already called sprint, taken it to a store but only reflashed the os, and I just recently spoke to someone on chat, who said the problem has been solved. If it happens again should I get a replacement phone?
Blankrubbers fix actually worked for me

I had this problem as well. I odinned stock and problem solved. Now I'm back on bonsai with no problems.
Edit: I just noticed that I don't have voodoo sound installed, I know that I used to, maybe deleting that solved my problem and not odinning back to stock.

Sadly even after changing modems and making the adjustment in Voodoo Control I still have the same problem. Going to uninstall Voodoo all together and see if that resolves anything.
I just discovered that I'm having the same problem after I Odin'd back to stock EC05 for a different reason. So, EC05 and EC05 modem, and I'm having a problem that I didn't think I was having before I tried EF02.
Could something have been changed that going back to EC05/EC05 modem didn't resolve?

This problem is not generated by Voodoo. I have a stock Epic (rooted) and have never had Voodoo installed on my device and I have intermittently had this problem in the past (haven't seen it for a while, though). My friend has an Epic (never rooted) and also has this problem.
About the only thing I've heard that people have said fixes this is to wipe cache and dalvik and then flash something using Odin. Stock or custom I don't think matters.
As others have noted, uninstalling Voodoo didn't fix it for me. I think what must be causing this is everytime I wipe and install a clean ROM I restore some data through TiBackup and SOMETHING I'm restoring is causing this. Guess I'll just have to wipe and be very careful about what I'm restoring.
This might be completely random, but by chance did other people that experience this problem happen to install NZBAir?
when i used the zedomax kernel the first time the radio would cut off randomly after long periods of time. no cdma at all, not even after airplane mode, having to restart the phone.
i cant get a log as to why it does it because im never on ddms at the time it happens. im having to back to the stock kernel and update profile and prl just to stop it. any ideas?
It is not the kernel and the search function works great
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
then i dont understand what the problem would be. itll stay on the network if im on the stock kernel.
I had no LOS on stock for 1-1/2 weeks. I flashed a rooted kernel and it started happening constantly. 3 or 4 times a day. Power off and restart was the only way to get service back.
Last night I flashed back to stock and so far today, no LOS.
My take? Odin is so easy to use. Just flash back to stock and see what happens.

and there have been plenty of people that have been the exact opposite of you both. sprint has been aware of this issue and is going to fix it on the first patch. theres an issue with the rom itself not the firmware
I agree. It is all over the place, stock and rooted.
That is why I say change your situation and see if it helps. It did for me. Will it for anyone else? I can't say. It's easy enough to find out.
-Steve
well when i talked to a csr last week they had no idea about the issue. we'll see.
csr's arnt all knowing... the tech people know a lil, and the online chat know less than both combined... but it is an recognized bug on the sprint forums
I've seen a similar post to this way back in the day when I first rooted my phone, but since then have been unable to relocate said post, so I'll just post here as I've noticed this to be a constant problem, perhaps GB related.
Days where I don't make any phone calls I get decent battery life, about 1% every 2 hours and that's listening to music. But god forbid I have to make a phone call because then Dialer remains on consuming my sensor in spare parts. I've disabled just about everything in call settings related to sensors and even tried turning my BT on as I read it might fix it, no dice. The only way to fix atm is to restart or perform a hot reboot.
Anybody else experiencing this or have found a fix? Currently running Decks 1.3d and thinking of going back to a Sense rom cuz I never dealt with this crap before I tried AOSP, even though I love and prefer AOSP over Sense.

I would look for the topic about wake lock, there is a possible fix in there if I remember right. Also could try to reflash decks, I've never had a problem.

I agree with the guy above me, you should check the thread of whatever ROM your using as well, and for a quick fix you could always just push the Power/Screen Lock button

Hey guys... as it says in the title, I am having issues with my G-nex randomly losing connection/signal but then coming back again. From what I have read, this is a common problem... anyone have any tips? Also wanting to know if I flash a custom ROM if that would possibly fix the problem. Thanks!
Not necessarily the ROM, but the radios. Try that.
There are a few 4.0.4 ROMs for the LTE GNex out now you could try as well if you want to go the ROM route.
Is this happening to you? (See attachment)
If so.. I've been trying multiple radios and multiple roms all day without any progress, this still happens. Would love it if someone has a solution to this... I'd have having to send in my phone again.
The signal issues seem to stop when the phone is awake though... :/ But I'm missing a lot of phone calls since my phone is "off" when people try to call me.

yeah, that's exactly what's happening... it does seem to happen more when the phone is off, but I think it still happens when it is on. it is so weird! I went into the verizon store, one of the reps said that he had just been having this issue today and that he put it into airplane mode and back off again and it seemed to fix the problem... I did it, and it seems to have helped, but that was only about 20 min ago lol. see if it helps you!

Hmm.. interesting. The problem here is that this started on March 24th... :/ But, still trying Airplane mode, even though I'm not optimistic..
I emailed my provider, asking them for info, but a friend of mine has been working beside me for the past few days, on the same network with the same phone, without problem. So I guess it's time to bring it in..
Thanks for the info! I may try to put the latest rom/radio on it and see if that helps... if not i'll un-root it and send it in I guess.
I'm having a similar issue with my GSM model, It started when my phone was updated to 4.0.4. Phone signal suddenly drops and comes back again in less than 10 seconds. Sometimes it happens with 1 minute intervals between signal losses, sometimes 5 or 20 minutes, it's very random. After noticing the issue thanks to "Light Flow" that blinks the notification light in white when there is a signal loss, I installed this app (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.smartandroidapps.missedcall&hl=en) to track it properly. The results are very frightening, I'm about to do a full wipe in hopes that the issue will be gone :|
ps: like you guys, I did notice that it's very most likelly to happen while the screen is off. Actually, it has never happened while the screen was on.
Same here, post 4.0.4 update on my GSM GNex.
Found this explanation....
