[Q] EVO true network speeds - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Does anyone know of a good notification bar mod that will display EVDO and 1 X RTT? I know Calkulin's rom has that as part of the rom. I was just wondering if knows if something like this is out there. I would like to add it to my rom.

any ideas?

Most of the custom ROMs all have the known data tweaks. Pick one you like and try it.

I'll second that vouch.
But Bonsai and Midnight make me happy too.

[Q] Changing Notification (status) bar color

Using FRX07.1
I have looked for an answer to this for awhile, and i found a solution! (see super status bar in the market) but it doesnt work very well (in my experience). I was wondering if anyone else knew how to do something similar, with a more stable effect. (changing the color of notification bar)

There is no "simple" way to do this, that I've found. Main reason being is you have to muck with the framework in the system image.

You can use UOT KITCHEN. You can customize everything in your android phone even your notification bar

Heres a sample. Make sure you make a copy of your Framework.res just in case you dont like it.
-replace your Framework.res with the cooked one
-the framework is found in system/framework
-If you dont like it, go to http://uot.dakra.lt to make your own
-Enjoy!
Hi,
I tried the Kitchen self the last days and I got an error, evereytime I upload the framework-res.apk that comes with FRX07.1.
Seems to me, the kitchen can't handle this file, even if it recognizes this file of various other roms.
May I ask, how do you managed to get this to work? Did you upload the file or did you take one of the to the kitchen well known? And if last is right, which one did you selected?
And how did you apply these files?

I'm pretty sure you'd have to build a theme that uses them, i don't think there's any other way to change status bar icons. I could be wrong though.

What do u mean about DC support exactly? If u mean the DC symble in status bar for signal reception then u already have it, in touchwiz or "stock" roms DC or "dual connectivity" is represented by the "4g" icon, DC icon only shows up on aosp roms, but if u check connection speeds with an app like speedtest.net u will see they have the sameish up/down speeds, basically all it is is a diff icon

well when dc network is being shown in the settings menu i can hit 16-19mbs d and 2-2.5mb up but on the stock rom it never goes past hspa:15 and i can only get a max of 11mb d and 2mb up. so there def has to be something more then just a symbol. in the build prop the lte setting talks about custom rils so i have been trying to bring the ril files to the stock rom to see if it can access the same dchspap:30 network that the custom roms do

Cyanogenmod and 4G icon

Hi,
I installed Cyanogenmod 10.1.2. It works great and I really like it. The only thing I don't like is that it will only display 3G and H+. Is there anyway to get back the 4G icon? I know T-Mobile doesn't offer true 4G except for their LTE network. I know it's cosmetic but it would be nice to have the 4G icon back. Thanks.
David
When I was using my Nexus 4 with the LTE radio enabled, CM10.1 displayed the 4G icon while I was connected to LTE, and the H+ icon while connected to HSPA+. The T999 doesn't have LTE, that's why you don't have the icon in CM10.1.
I don't know exactly how to go about changing to the 4G logo, but I'm sure someone else here can help you.

I'm not aware of a way to do it.
You could try one of the many TW ROMs. I recently switched from CM10.1 to S3Rx and have been happy with it.
Interesting cause I'm the exact opposite. On S3Rx it says 4G and I wish it would say h+, or 3g, or whatever.
I'm running a CM based rom on my T999L and I get the 4g icon in places with the new 4g. Elsewhere you get the H+.

Thanks for the reply. I do not believe S3Rx is available for CM10.2 which is Android 4.2. I really like the new features of 4.2 so I guess it's worth the sacrifice of not having the 4G icon.

Yup. S3Rx is 4.1.2.
I agree, I liked CM quite a bit also but I found myself needing wifi calling, so I had to switch.

I haven't tried it specifically with 10.1 yet, but apps like rom toolbox let you change the icons in the statusbar. There is several options for 4G icons. It worked perfectly on previous versions so it should work.
tp2215,
Thanks for the reply. I looked into the Rom Toolbox app. It only changes the 4G icon if the 4G icon is displayed initially. I was looking into changing the 3G icon to display 4G (I know it's not true 4G but T-Mobile's version of 4G). Thanks.
