in the universal wiki it says:
Upgrading:
Getting Started With Your Universal
Read this section first, as it will explain
How to discover your Device configuration
How to deal with different Operator and Language Codes
How to perform ROM upgrades the right way ...
the text that is shown when I click on "Getting Started With Your Universal" is the same as the "Universal for Beginners" and contains not info about upgrading (as advertised)
Hello,
I am based in UK on Three network, I tried to unlock the HTC desire HD by following this tutorial and unlock tool available at XDA
everything went fine but when I put any other sim other than three it gives me sim lock message and ask me for pin.
Can someone help me with this. I wil very thankful. Thanks for the help
here is the tutorial I followed.
Step 1: Prepare your phone
To begin, you will need to turn on USB debugging on your phone. The can be done by:
1. Going into settings
2. Selecting applications
3. Selecting developer options
4. Checking the box titled "USB Debugging".
Now, turn your phone off and reboot in HBOOT. This can be done by holding both the volume down, then power button together.
The screen will boot up to a white simple text display with three android characters at the bottom.
Step 2: Prepare your computer
Now it's time to download and install some software. If you haven't already downloaded all the files above, do so now to a location you can remember, we're going to call this folder "Desire Rooting Folder".
Once downloaded, unzip the contents of the "android-usb-driver.zip" file to the "Desire Rooting Folder"
Next, install "winrar-xxx-xxx.exe" and the "HTCDriver3.0.0.0.7.exe".
Plug in your phone to your PC. Now on your computer, click start in the bottom left, right click My Computer, select manage.
A window will pop up titled computer management. Now select device manager in the left hand panel. You should see a section titled "Other devices". Expand this to reveal a device "Android 1.0". **If you don't see this, unplug and replug your USB connector into your computer. If you still don't see it, you may already have these files installed and can therefore skip to section 3**
Right click "Android 1.0", select update software driver and locate the file Android USB Drivers when prompted. This will install the appropriate drivers for HBOOT.
Step 3: Unlocking your phone
In order to unlock your phone you need to extract the unlock tool ("HTC_Desire_Unlock_v0.9.5.rar") to your "Desire Rooting Folder".
Now open the folder titled "HTC_Desire_Unlock_v0.9.5". Inside should be a file titled adb.exe. Double click this to make a window pop up and close. Next double click HTC_Desire_Unlock_v0.9.5.exe.
Wrong tool my friend
That's for the Desire, not the Desire HD.
If you look in the Development section, there is a tool there that will root, bootloader unlock and SIM Unlock your phone.
If you need any more help, just post back here
Also, as this is a question, please post in the Q&A section, for further reference

its all done now I have got an unlock fone now so thanks alot.
One last question is how can I upgrade it to latest Jelly Beans version ? which steps I need to follow
sorry I am a very very basic user so don't know much about updating roms and stuff.
Recently, I dropped my phone on a concrete but nothing happened.
Just like a slight tap.
My external SD slot died. I tried replacing it with other MicroSD also it couldn't detect.
Then sometimes I connect my phone storage to the computer , it couldn't read properly. Just few folders are there and I couldn't copy nor move anything.
It gives me error " Unable to transfer - Device must have disconnected "
But i can delete the folder inside.
So I tried to delete the cache and I accidentally deleted my system cache.
Now my M8 couldn't boot at all.
I can access my bootloader and hardboot.
My CID is HTC__621.
I tried finding the RUU but couldn't find over the net nor xda sticky forums.
I just thought of removing the tamper banner , return the bootloader and splash screen to stock then send to warranty?
What do you think?
Is there anything I could do to get my phone back to it's life?
I even tried to writecid to 11111111.
It gives me USB Init error.
Why did you post the same info twice? This is against forum rules, and more importantly, just makes it confusing for those trying to help you. And more confusing for you, too.
I posted in your other thread. I'll ask the mods to close this thread.

Hello, I seem to have bricked my OnePlus 9 Pro, I was trying to update my phone without losing root, and it got stuck in a Boot loop. I then tried to flash the original os onto the phone without losing data, so I forgot to hard wipe the phone. it's now not turning on at all, No Recovery Mode, no Fastboot, no nothing. I think there's still EDL mode on it, but when I try to fix it using MSM method, it's not showing up. I have installed the Qualcomm driver thing, so it's showing up as that, but No Device is found once trying to fix it with that Method, does anyone have a clue how to fix this.

Hello,
my Galaxy S4 Mini GT-i9195 died last weekend out of nothing. Battery was empty, I started it, it boots and switched off again. After I tried to charge it, nothing happens but when I longpress the power button it vibrates one time and the screen stays black.
The phone has TWRP and LineageOS on it and worked fine for some years.
What I've done and what I know:
1) Changed all but the main pcb, I have the same device again and switched all other parts. Same issue, so I'm sure the issue is on the motherboard.
2) Meassured battery current when off 0mA, when on 130-180mA
3) Meassured voltages, 1.8v and 3.0v are there when I switch the phone on
3) Meassured CMD pin on eMMC, the CPU is alive and tries to access the eMMC
What I don't know currently
1) Is the eMMC working correctly
2) Is any other hardware defect?
3) Is there some data corruption on any part of the eMMC?
Before I try to solder something on the phone I would like to test all other ways to recover my data.
The hardware itself is not important, but it would be nice to get the data. The SDcard that was used looks like the data is encrypted, so I suppose the userdata on the eMMC is encrypted as well. This means I hope to get the phone to boot to decrypt all this again.
I've seen that it could be possible to boot the phone from SDCard. Does anyone know how this oculd work?
I have a universal eMMC reader that supports the eMMC used, but don't know if it will work as long as the CPU is powered on.
Has anyone a idea what could be defect or how I can do a further diagnose of the phone to resuce my data?
Hope someone can help. Thanks!

Your question is on a Galaxy S4 Mini. This is the right place. We have already removed the duplicate.
Okay, new information. I ****ed up the key combination and now as I do it right, I can boot into ODIN mode.
I tried to read out the pid with heimdall and this doesn't works. On the other phone I tried the same and it works. So I suppose it's not a issue of my setup.
