[Q] Droid Incredible Newb Question - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

As we all know the stock ROM that verizon pushes to our phone has a new annoying feature. When u connect the phone to the PC it makes a virtual CDROM drive. Ever since that got created on my phone it has caused me nothing but headaches. Namely that it causes my optical (DVDRW) drive tray to cycle open and closed. I thought that once I rooted my phone and installed a custom ROM that would go away. Sadly this is not the case. how do I get my phone to stop creating this virtual drive? Im assuming there is something in the ROM that can be changed to stop this. Now I know there is usually a CDROM.ISO file that exists in the stock HTC ROM and if u remove/rename that the drive wont show up in My Computer. My question is why does the HTC Android Phone USB device still appear on my system? Is there a way to prevent my phone from doing this? I am really tired of having my drive tray open and close for hours on end. I have taken to disabling the DVDRW in the device manager to get it to stop. I want to avoid doing that. Please help.

Nobody has any ideas??

Well I have some news. After I posted here on a whim I decided to send a support email to HTC. And they responded with some nifty instructions.
1. dial ##7764726
2. hit call
3. Type password 000000 (thats 6 zeros)
4. hit feature settings
5. choose cdrom
6. click disable
7. hit menu then commit modifications (it will say no item changed)
I tried the above instructions but I did not get any password box. It actually called the number. Maybe this only works if you are on the stock ROM? Anybody have any ideas about this?

The tip that they gave you won't stop it from showing up as a CD-ROM Drive. All that does it prevents that prompt for VZW driver installation. Any ROM based on the stock ROM (Virtuous, Skyraider, Redemption, etc.) will have this CD-ROM drive show up, though most of those ROMs have the driver issue disabled by default.
Switching to an AOSP ROM (like Cyanogen(mod)) will get rid of it.

I tried the HTC tip from within the stock rom and it does show up.
Why is it that this was never removed from any of the roms based on the stock rom?
I have tried Cyanogenmod and it restarts on me at the wierdest times.I can not even be doing anything with it. And poof it will restart. Dunno why either.

Rooted, yes? SwiFTP from market, no USB cable necessary.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App

Yes its rooted. Thats how i got cyanogenmod flashed enuf to know its restarting for no reason. Seeing as my 2yo lost the wall charger adaptor somewhere in the house its the only way I have of charging my phone. its also how I put my audio books and music on my phone. The amount of data moving across is more than what a wireless connection should transfer. Its alot faster with a direct connection. Besides, Doubletwist airsync is not worth the money.

Why is it that this was never removed from any of the roms based on the stock rom?

Because they can't. It's part of the framework now.

CM6 or CM7? CM6 is stable. Minor bugs, but reboots shouldn't be noticeably more than stock. On stock, I'd get maybe one reboot per week. On CM6, about the same.
CM7 is considered in an alpha state right now. It's going through nightly builds. Each build adds a feature or two, and then the next build is meant to add in another feature or two, while fixing bugs that came up from the last build's feature introduction. We may not see a release candidate for at least another month due to the fact that their remaining feature list to be implemented is still rather long.
Bottom line is, if you're slamming CM7 for stability, well, that's to be expected. It's not even officially in beta yet. The sad thing is, it's more stable than all but the grade-A ROMs out there today.

No CM7 for me. I live and breath with my phone to use something that is still being developed. I had flashed the following flavors of ROM:
Incredibly Re-Engineered rebooted 4 times in a matter of 8 hours.
Cyanogenmod 6 stable rebooted twice in the same time period.
I flashed nothing else to the phone except the radio which is 2.15.00.11.19. I did the radio b4 I even got around to flashing the rom and never had a single issue with it. Wanted to make sure nothing was gonna go south b4 moving on. Had the radio flashed for over a week and never had to restart my phone once. Im just trying to find something other than the stock rom.
I like the cyanogen rom cause it has the vanilla interface. Thats the first thing I flashed. Only part I didnt like about it was the camera interface. Felt like I had less control over settings. Also there are no ability to do wide screen pics from what I have been able to figure out. i like that ability. Hence the switch to the Reingineered. Was happy with it for the most part. Felt snappier than the stock interface only had a problem hitting the button for the phone cause it was so blasted small on the screen. Kept fat fingering the home and menu buttons below the screen. I want something stable and doesnt lose any of the features I have on the stock rom. I know thats asking alot but one can hope.

UD?
Maybe try UltimateDroid v 2.5?
Lots of features you describe - I run it w/ InvisibleK's #18 kernel, haven't been happier.
Plus, no annoying popups when connecting USB

I do know that Skyraider sense 3.5 has the CD-ROM feature removed. That rom is based off of sense if you like that kind of stuff( I know I do)
So basically all that will show up in device manager (if you have Skyraider rom) will be the mass storage device(s): SD and internal. No cd-rom device detected from phone. If I remember correctly, I think the developer created a script that removed that from his rom.

Ill give it a whirl

[Q] Verizon update - phone is way faster

After the Verizon update, my phone is way faster then root. I also decided to completely start over and upgrade my phone. I haven't tried to root the phone yet. Just curious if others have noticed a difference? It could just be that my phone was f&%$ed up since this was the first time ever rooting. Would make a good poll question, slower, same faster?
I felt the difference from 2.1 to 2.2.. Did you upgrade from 2.1?
Way faster than root? Huh?
How long were you on the previous ROM?
I've noticed a full wipe makes a HUGE difference in performance or even just clearing out old texts and the Dalvik.

+1 on that, especially the texts when you start getting above 400-500. I remember when I had the Touch Pro 2... after about 200 of them the phone would REALLY slow down..
Every new rom feels fast initially. You really got to have the rom for a solid week or two before you can make an accurate comparison.
Too many variables to pin down why it's now faster. I went from 2.1 to 2.2 then rooted. I've been rooted since incredible was first broken but I am a NEWBIE. I also had issues with my phone such as SD Card would not load when charging. Also random reboots after I rooted that I reported but could never get right. I tried to follow the procedures each time I put the new Rom on, wiping data, rom, cache but could never get things stable. This of course is no scientific evidence but my phone is probably at least double the speed when I had the rooted rom. Anyway I will wait for the new Verizon maintenance patch to be broken and try again. In any case just to get the speed and the SDcard loading all the time makes me happy I'm back before root. I do miss my special font and being able to do a full backup. If I could do a "run as" like in windows just to be able to run certain approved programs I would be happy. No offense to anyone, I know the Rom developers put a lot of work into what they do. I will root again! (lol) So since I am a newbie, may I ask everyone is there something like a "run as" command in this phone form of Linux?
I have hours upon hours of automation in my phone for my business.
I'm so content with the first leaked stock rom, I can only image redoing all this work because I need a physically different phone for a business solution... At this moment, I can't imagine what that would be. But I may never swap another rom on this phone.. And I may not envy another rom.. Maybe

htc touch pro 2 uscc android install

i down loaded the project android rebuild installed the cab file to the cars and installed to card. then their was a net file error so i downloaded the one they suggested from their site. no i saw some one say it requires rode400 as the phone of choice it will start up in. in advanced settings i have n America dial cdma and over clock as 768. seems like it load really fast then after about 3 mins it slows down to a stop..... did i do something wrong i mean others have loaded same program as me and their able to use the phone but i cant seem to get it to even load.... will it take up to 10mins to load? or should it lad pretty fast?
loaded it the dual boot the startup utility and the android project ProjectAndroid2.2Froyo.112210 all from the project android site... did i go wrong somewere?
and also when ever i restart my phone for what ever reason will it always take better then 10 mins for it to boot into android?
10 mins should be about the max you'd need to wait for a boot time - if it's longer, you're in a bootloop... soft reset with the pin under the battery cover, or just pull the battery.
With that said, don't overclock and make sure you're completely updated.
well i went to bed and left it in boot mode woke up it was in android mode.. recieve calls and txt but no access to the internet so i couldnt even log into goggle or anything... and its taking forever to load. and dual boot isnt even working just gives me the option for windows mobile.... thank you
so saying i am gonna modify the start up log to what viper posted in another section see if that works..
see below...
well tried the boot up viper posted.. but it just takes for freakin ever..... any one know how to seed this up please?

Initial boot takes a while. If this is honestly stopping you, then don't use Android. It's not meant to replace WinMo at this stage, so if you're expecting it to.... you're going to be disappointed.
Just stick to WinMo.
i dont know what to expect every totorial and person is telling me it should take no more then 10 mins....
well i put in a new bigger card and re loaded the android files to it.. the first time loaded in about 6 mins or so second time booted to android about 1 min... seems so far all features work. but now its cutting out and restarting the phone usally happens as i access a program like push to talk that was downloaded form the market. Is their a flaw some were that i can find that does this?
are you running the latest kernel and rootfs? sometimes it takes me 2 or 3 reboots after a fresh install for xdandroid to be stable for me. if it doesnt straiten up after a couple of reboots then try doing a full format with this software 3dub.softpedia.com/get/System/Hard-Disk-Utils/HP-USB-Disk-Storage-Format-Tool.shtml i believe its what many have suggested using (a correction is welcome). then reinstall xdandroid and update the kernel AND rootfs to the latest 3dub://sites.google.com/site/androidport/project-tracking (the 3dubs are www of course, wont let me link to outside site till i post a little more lol)
hay thank you.. coulpe of issues.. i am not recieveing picture messages and its dropping the internet(3g) connection wich makes me have to reboot to android.. not worried about wifi as i never use it. also their is no back light on the slide out board or the answer call buttons and such..... also i need caller id. i get number but nothing else not like cityid on the uscc network that tells me city and state..

mms has never worked for me, ive tried playing around with some apn settings i found but never got anything out of it except maybe a broken internet connection lol. i just have my wife email them to my gmail account which she can do through mms, she just types my email instead of my phone number... it works. i had the internet dropping out problem a couple of months back with one of the kernels then but havent had the problem since. the keyboard backlight and front key backlight hasnt been implimented yet, there is a workaround by making sure the lights are on when you boot android but then the backlights stay on the entire time. i have no idea how bad that effects battery life though. as far as caller id i assume your basically just talking about for numbers outside your contacts list lol. i know uscc has city id for android as it came preinstalled on my wifes acclaim. if you can get it on the market or internet i have no idea. hopefully somebody else knows of a nifty program available on the market that does basically the same thing and will chime in. in any event you might try the 20101124_215731 kernel it was very stable for me and could fix your internet problem. i would suggest deleting your data.img file in the andboot folder when you replace your kernel it can cause problems ;-) be warned though it will create a fresh data.img file on first boot (which is one reason first boot takes longer then the rest) and youll have to set everything up and redownload your market programs again.
thanks for the reply.. i did install the kernels you suggested and then for ****s and giggles i installed the wifi kernels too. for some reason it droped a call and rebooted then went to restart again and its taking for ever...i turned on over clocking so i am gonna turn that off. not even sure what its used for.. oh and the kernel you suggested in your last post do you have a link to it please? thanks
added the previous ximage files you sugested earlier but some reason it complety crashed it and had to start over.... so re loaded blazin added gen y dual boost and the .net i needed.... just starting all over again.. i hope it runs better this time around.... i guess the id feature isnt all that important but i hope at sometime soon they get the board light working again..
i did update like you said on the other page but i didnt reload i only replaced files... if i am gonna upate the zimage and such should i reload the program then update with the kernels and such then reboot?

This issue has been resolved in FRX03, by disabling JIT. Be careful of the build.prop files floating around the 3d testing thread, they re-enabled JIT - and that bug along with it.

[Q] Experiencing major issues with any custom rom. Please help!

((if this is in the wrong place or has been covered before, I apologize...))
Hello all.
I just became the new owner of a family member's Samsung Galaxy S3 (AT&T). Already owning and tinkering with two xperia Ion's I wanted to have a little more freedom and experience Kitkat on the GS3.
I had no experience in unlocked bootloaders and all that, so I figured that I would let the Cyanogenmod Auto-Installer do the work for me and install CM11 on my device.
It worked great initially! No problems whatsoever aside from minor glitches here and there. As soon as I started installing some more apps and Xposed modules, I noticed that things were getting odd.
Eventually, my phone wouldn't connect to google's play services whatsoever. Despite countless resets of the phone itself and my modem/router, nothing seemed to help. Flushing the cache and dalvik didn't help either, nor did a factory reset. The issue kept coming back.
Thinking that perhaps another rom wouldn't have the problem, I installed C-Rom (which was based on 4.4.4 KK). It ran BEAUTIFULLY! It is sure one hell of a rom. But then, not too long after I had everything installed and running the way I wanted it to, it had the same errors as before.
I don't know how to explain the error other than the phone just generally messing up. I don't recall it ever having those issues on stock, but then again, it wasn't my phone on stock, and the first thing I did upon receiving it was put a custom rom on it.
But the error can only be explained as a general f***-up of the entire OS. Commands run brutally slow (I will launch the flashlight and it wont turn on until seconds, even minutes later. Alternatively, text messages take eons to send and receive, which I am positive is not an error on the AT&T side of things). Then, whenever I try to download or install an app from the play store, the application will download partially and then stall for what feels like eons. Some of the applications just stop there, and some I will find installed on the device some 30 minutes later. Not to mention that the signal icons on the quick setting tiles are all turned orange for some bizarre reason. Another bizarre issue is that no matter what, I can never launch the terminal to execute an htop, logcat, or anything! The terminal just stalls and eventually crashes, while it worked fine before.
I've checked online for errors similar to this, but haven't found anything that has helped the phone. Anyone out there who is willing to give this a crack or just point me in the right direction?
Thanks in advance.

It sounds like you're the modules you're installing are crashing your system. I'd suggest you do a clean flash of w/e rom you wanna rush (you seem to like C-rom) and run it clean for a few days. You can install apps and such but don't restore system apps and don't install modules.
If it runs fine after a few days, you can cherry-pick the modules you wanna use (make sure they're made for the sammy phones). Install one or two, test for a couple days and so on. You'll eventually find which one is messing with your system (if that's actually what's causing the problems).
All seems to be well now. I've isolated the problematic app after slowly restoring all my app data one at a time. I have since moved to a different rom (SOKP) and everything is going running smoothly! Surprisingly, it wasn't Xposed causing the issue, but a market app that displays system info similar to conky on Linux computers. Once I installed it, the system just crapped out. Signals dropped, the terminal froze, and none of my apps seemed to work properly. But once I uninstalled the app and reset my phone, all was well.
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

Learning My T-Mo D851 on ATT. Musings of a stranger in a strange land...

Hi everyone,
I'm the new owner of an unlocked T-Mo D851, and will be using it on AT&T. I bought the T-Mo version instead of the ATT version due to the unlocked bootloader and better Dev support. Love those Devs!
I figured I'd post a thread with the things I learn along the way, to help others that might benefit, particularly since I'm joining the G3 community long after the novelty has worn off. Folks like me that join have a lot of past experience to review here, and so much is out of date it can be intimidating, particularly when our new device acts a lot different from our old one. I hope this thread helps someone, but at minimum it will serve as documentation for me to refer back to, should I need that. I'll include links where appropriate.
I'm an intermediate level flasher, having worked with maybe 6-8 other phones/tablets. So, I know enough to be dangerous, but not enough to have an ego to bruise. My most recent phone was a T-Mo Galaxy S4. But I dropped it, and cracked the screen, just a few weeks after getting it all settled in with a nice 5.1.1 GPE ROM. Sigh.
I got the phone a few days ago but have just gotten around to working on it.
On day 1 I charged it up, skipped setup (touch corners, upper left, upper right, lower right above the softkeys, lower left above the softkeys... took 10 tries or so!), and connected the wifi (no sim card inserted yet). It immediately found update 20E (it shipped with kitkat). I let that update, but was surprised it didn't find the current 20G update. I want to make sure I start with the latest firmware/modems etc. installed.
In this thread, helpful user @mitbit2k3 pointed me to the online LG site that lets you download the LG Mobile Support Tool. It also gives instructions for installing the PROPER PC connection driver for the phone which works, versus the default Win7 driver that doesn't work for the purposes of the update. With proper driver installed, and with USB connection in the right mode (follow instructions to set the phone USB settings), I got up to 20G stock.
I exercised the phone a bit (still without SIM card) and made sure everything worked... cameras, GPS, wifi, etc.
Then I figured it would be time to install TWRP and take it from there. Much to my surprise, you need to root this thing FIRST. Even with an unlocked bootloader, you can't just fire up ODIN and flash TWRP.
I did my research on the forum and through Google... with all the versions of software since release there were numerous descriptions of how to root the thing, some of which were outdated. For me, on 20G software (5.01 Android), this worked fine:
https://www.reddit.com/r/LGG3/comments/3n0nk1/new_super_easy_oneclick_way_to_root_g3/
it references back to XDA of course:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/general/guide-root-method-lg-devices-t3129197
From this I learned to review the top level LG G3 subforums, not just the T-Mobile XDA subforums!!
OK, that rooted me just fine and installed SuperSU. I was able to use the "first way" which is super simple.
With that done, I was able to install TWRP. I went straight to the source for it:
https://twrp.me/devices/lgg3tmo.html
I used the "dd" method which involves running ADB on the PC. I use a version that is a "Minimal ADB and Fastboot" that works fine... I used it to mess around with my Shield tablet previously, so I was familiar with it. Basically you run the minimal ADB through a desktop icon, and it loads a command line interface. You type ADB Shell after plugging in the phone to the USB cable (it has to be on, developer options enabled, debugging enabled). Then you type the commands listed on the TWRP site. Pretty soon TWRP is installed.
Next I had to figure out how to get into download mode. Yeah, yeah... power plus volume down... been there done that, but on the LG you have to boot with power/down, then when the LG icon comes up you release for a second, then press the two keys again, then at the next screen tell it you want to wipe the phone, and confirm this again on the next screen. THEN it finally boots into TWRP. Kinda scary. And getting the keys right takes some practice.
Once in TWRP, I backed everything up (including EFS partition) to an external SD card, just in case I messed something up. I had previously erased the SD card from within the phone's SEttings/Storage mode, to make sure it would be able to be accessed. No problem.
So now I've got a rooted phone, with TWRP installed, and the next step is to figure out what I want to do ROM wise. I wish there were a 5.1.1 GPE stock + LG Camera ROM. But I haven't found one. I like plain ROMs. The default stock ROM, even if it were debloated, its a bit annoying to me (and just 5.0.1) so I'll probably move to BlissPop or Slim something, but I will research around.
It's time to stick my SIM in and see how the phone does on AT&T. I'd like to get a baseline before I go ROM-hopping.
I will say that on stock ROM, with no SIM but WIFI on, the standby power drain on this thing is incredible. It went overnight (7 hours) and was still reading 100%. A whole 24 hours in, it was only a few percent lower. Of course, I hadn't attached any Google accounts, so the phone was truly idle, but it's very impressive nonetheless.
Stay tuned. I'll be updating this as I go along.
OK, I'm a few hours in.
No problem with my ATT SIM card in the phone; the phone was purchased unlocked and everything hooked up fine as soon as I entered in the APN information for ATT (which you can get from here).
The phone gave me a warning about WIFI Calling invalid SIM; I went into the settings and turned off WIFI calling, since I'm on ATT and only T-Mo offers it.
One other problem I haven't sorted out yet is that I get a text each time I reboot the phone, apparently my phone is sending a text to a very long address 060504071000004163.... and the text I get back is an error message that this isn't a valid number. Not sure how to turn this off. Annoying, but once per boot won't kill me until I figure it out. Google will likely be my friend. EDIT: I think this relates to T-mo visual voicemail. I went into the T-Mo Visual Voicemail app and I immediately got another one of these texts. Time to remove this app...
Meanwhile I notice the WIFI reception of this phone is much stronger than the S4. On the other hand, it seems less likely to drop a weak WIFI in favor of a stronger one... I have several access points around my house, and I've found I've needed to switch them manually now and then. Haven't had to do this on the S4.
I'm also struggling to get restores to work from my Backup Your Mobile app. I moved the backup onto an SD card in the G3, but the app isn't recognizing it. Uh oh. That's got my MMS/SMS/Call log backups. So, I've still got things to work on.
I gradually entered my various Google accounts, and let Play Store download the updates needed for all the apps. I've got about 75% of the apps I use re-downloaded.
I've got one "serious" problem in that the Play Store says the ATT Visual Voicemail app, which is a cornerstone of how I use the phone (because it transcribes voicemails into readable text), isn't compatible with my phone. That's crap. It worked fine on my T-Mo S4 (running a generic GPE edition). I'll probably have to sideload the app, but it's annoying that it's locked out.
Making progress.
I still couldn't download the ATT Visual Voicemail app from the Play Store, and went stir crazy trying to find it on my S4 (which is rooted, so I should be able to find it, but...). I went haring off in lots of directions, including making a full apps backup with Helium, but then the G3 won't restore without using the PC app due to changes in 5.0... which is weird because my S4 (which is running a 5.1.1 GPE ROM) restores fine. I don't have the PC app installed so I tried using Backup My Mobile... but then eventually figured out that on the S4, with ES File Explorer, I not only had Root Explorer OFF (didn't know I had to turn it on), but it's easy to find apps with the APP Library. Once I found the app there, I uploaded it to my Google Drive, then downloaded it from there onto the G3. It installed fine.
I used System App Remover (which requires root) to get rid of all the T-Mobile specific apps and that annoying Lookout security program. Bah! This cured that spurious text message I get with each boot. It was definitely due to the T-mo visual voice mail. Problem solved!
In using the phone, I'm a bit bummed because it didn't occur to me that a big part of my bigger screen as compared to the GS4 would be taken up by the softkeys on screen. The S4 has a physical home button and capacitive keys to either side. So, my screen isn't effectively much bigger, when I account for dedicating some of it to the buttons. You can make the buttons autohide, apparently. One issue is I use my phone in landscape much of the time, and the buttons don't rotate to the new "bottom" of the screen when I rotate. Gotta figure that out.
This morning I installed the PC Helium App so I could enable backup/restore access on the G3. That worked fine, but Helium on the G3 still doesn't detect my external SD card, in order to restore from it. I could manually copy files over to the internal Carbon folder, and restores from there worked fine. Still, I'm not sure why I'm having so much SD Card angst. I know things change each version of Android wrt SD cards... maybe something is fixed in 5.1.1 (as I had on my S4) that is broken in 5.01 on the G3.
So, I've got some tweaking to do from here. The phone is basically set up and working fine except for some straggler apps that I won't bother with until I need them, with one major exception: I need to go in and set up Light Flow. That app is a big part of how I manage notifications on any phone...
If you rooted your phone, then download and run the SDFix app from the Play Store. Apps will then have the ability to write to the external SD card...

... and yes, it also works w/ Lollipop.

Thanks. I'll give this a whirl!
EDIT: WORKED LIKE A CHARM. Thanks again! And thanks for the link, because there were several SDFix apps. The link made sure I got the one you intended.:good:
OK, I'm in a pretty good place after making some changes. Still plenty to tweak though.
First, I decided to abandon the stock Home launcher. It was a bit annoying with little UI tweaks LG made that make it just not how I expect it to look, but the kicker was that in landscape mode, the titles of the icons were not readable... they were mostly cut off. I use Rotate (Ultimate Rotation) so pretty much every screen including home is rotatable. But LG Home maintains in landscape mode the little dots representing the various home screen pages... these take up just enough room so that things get squished a bit and the titles cut off. Couldn't figure out how to disable that, so just bailed and installed Google Now Launcher which fixed me right up. That fixed the look and feel of the home screen, the apps drawer, and even reverted settings to the normal views I'm used to.
The only problem is that it kills double tap to sleep... or at least reduces the footprint of the double-tappable area to the notification strip at the top. Sigh. In another thread someone mentioned using Greenify to fix it. I'll try that when I get a chance.
Another weird thing I've got going on is that when I connect via Bluetooth to my car, it starts playing music. See this thread. That's pretty annoying... for now I deleted the default music that was playing, and with an empty directory nothing plays.
I put on a screen protector last night. I got the 0.2mm iCarez one. I performed the application in a steamy bathroom after running the hot shower for a bit, per some tips over in the Accessories thread. I left the backing on, positioned the glass on the screen, taped one side for the "hinge method" after getting it perfectly aligned and accounting for the eventual loss of thickness of the plastic underbacking, cleaned everything one last time with the alcohol wipe, peeled the backing, and plopped it on starting in the center. Got it perfectly positioned and no major bubbles. There were a couple of "spec sized" non-uniformities but they were gone by morning.
I'm gradually setting in... Still lots to play with.
I've noticed the WIFI, while it gets good reception, is a bit sluggish to drop a weak connection in favor of a strong one. Anybody got a tweak for that?

Try this app for WIFI management. I have tried several and this is the best I have found. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.kman.WifiManager I agree completely that the wifi in the phone is very slow to drop a weak signal and grab a stronger one. But with wifi manager you can play with the sensitivity. Good luck.
Will do. Thanks for confirming it's not just me. Also on another note I just found the LG keyboard has lots of settings for customization. Not bad. May keep it!

Before Root/Custom ROM 250mbps after 36?

Hello, my device is an HTC ONE M8, S-on, Rooted, TWRM recovery. I have tried a dozen different roms and ways to boot my phone and i absolutely am baffled and confused why my speed is lacking. Every single ROM i try i get from 8mbps to 36mbps. Before i rooted my device i was getting over 250mbps(I pay for 350). I have tried all kinds of things and am about to entirely give up on my device being mine, slapping the shackles back on her, and dragging her through the dirt of... STOCK. Anyways, jokes aside i really need help with fixing this issue alongside every ROM i did try had some kind of bugs here or there. One i was very very fond of was teh SLIM Rom. Tried versions 6.0 and 4.4.4 6.0 was great but it lagged(another issue, dont know why all android 6.0 versions lag on my phone, yes im making sure ROMS are device compatible). 4.4.4 i love but every time i factory reset with TWRM and reinstall it has a new problem and the previous is gone. first it was calendar crashing on boot, then it was wifi not even turning on. I'm getting off topic of course as this issue is better suited directed towards the developers of that ROM. My issue is that no matter what ROM i use for 6.0 i get wifi speeds absolutely horrible compared to what i use to get and the phone will lag and drain battery super super fast on 6.0 even using ROMS that claim their 6.0 saves more battery than standard. Currently i have no ROM installed and just TWRM. Any and all help is greatly appreciated.
To add real details::: The wifi is considerably slower than i use to get after rooting and installing custom ROMS. My wifi also on many roms i tried will refuse to connect to my router on my desk. i have a 5.0 and 2.4 band router. If i tried connecting to the say 2.4 after trying 5.0 in the list it'd anounce 5.0 was disabled and not even connect to 2.4 and vice versa. Also as a side note whenever i try android 6.0 ROMS my device screams to a hault in speed even when ROM devs claim it's faster to use their ROM than the default provided by HTC. not to mention serious battery drain.
If you need information list it, if you have recomendations or questions please state them.
*Edit: Here's a photo, i managed to get into the files of my phone. They all start out with the blue icon but every time i refresh it "fixes" some of them. also the downloads folder is empty and when i try to add files it says my phone isnt responding. Debugging is on.
*Also a bit of random info on a hail mary. My computer slows down a ton and the file explorer crashes upon opening when my phone is plugged in via USB. If my phone is plugged in the file manager locks up. If i try to "force" open a file in my phone it blue screens my computer. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me. My ps is sabertooth r2.0 990fx, 8350 cpu, r9 290, 1,300w psu, 16GB dual channel RAM.
