From what I read about the Netflix app that was demoed at CES, it is currently only compatible with Snapdragon based devices because of the DRM security being used.

I searched around. I think mono (Linux's silverlight mobile framework) could work on our phones. I just haven't found a way to make it work. :/

Anyone know if & when Netflex app will be availible for SM Epic 4G??????

Netflix would be the only people who know for sure, however if you're feeling anxious you can check out this thread and download the "Device Check Disabled" apk file.
It is available if u flash the gingerbread leak we have. It works just fine.

Where can I get the Gingerbeard leak?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA Premium App
Netflix is probably waiting for the official Gingerbread release to make it available for the Epic. There are several ROMs with EE03 leaked beta Gingerbread in the Samsung Epic Development thread. They will all be on the first page.
There is one on the market but it sucks

Netflix doesn't like the DRM (or lack thereof) in any iteration of the OS pre-2.3. That's it really. Gingerbread or newer and your golden.

Partly true. Is not that Netflix doesnt like DRM on 2.2. HTC Evo is on 2.2 and getting Netflix. I beleive that HTC must have pushed out a specific DRM requirement in their last ROM update. Samsung didnt do that until they pushed out their Gingerbread version.
HTC is known to support their phones better than Samsung.
/\
Its not that either, read my explaination thread. It isn't because of an HTC update. Its because 2.2 was built off the snapdragon.

it will when it becomes gingerbread, all 2.3 roms can already run it...

They have officially said they wont even plan an Android version until they are satisfied with the iPhone version... So no time soon...
" We are currently working on making the iPhone experience as solid as possible. Only then will we consider other platforms, but currently we have nothing to announce."

They showed an alpha/beta of the android version at SXSW this year. Normally a company wouldn't do something like that at one of the major events that caters to the demographic instagram is aimed towards... so it's more then likely coming out fairly soon.

Can't wait for instagram they say its more epic than iPhone!!

Lightbox is pretty good too, I've started using it more over streamzoo.
I did have picplz installed for awhile, but it just wasn't that great for me.
Honestly, I think that whenever instagram does come out for android, it's gonna be too little too late. We have quite a number of really good options already available.
Granted....there aren't that many that have the name and notoriety...but yeah.
I'm just waiting for the API's to be released to Google+, then I think we'll see some really cool photo sharing apps.
I was thinking it would be too little too late as well.. but honestly its the existing android apps now that will see a drop in usage as long as instagram delivers with the quality filters. As much as I feel scorned by instagram for blatantly ignoring android for so long I can't help but get excites.to have access to their already huge social network of users - as alot of my friends have iphones

HDMI Mirroring support?

I've searched for hours and can't find an answer. I'm looking for an AOSP ROM that supports HDMI Mirroring. Does anyone know of a ROM that has this feature?
No such AOSP ROM as of yet sorry

Is this the right places to ask if any AOSP ROM supports HDMI?
I just got this phone and every time I ask in a ROM thread ppl get retarded and don't give me a simple "this ROM x" or "no"

Yes I hear you.:beer: I guess if its a known issue why is it not in the OP?
People didn't seem this quick to yell in the epic ROM threads.
But the same thing happend with Bluetooth on the OG Epic and Android 4.2.2 the driver stack broke BT, but it was not always listed in the op.
But I'll become a helpful S3 forum member as i learn more.
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda app-developers app
It's wouldn't be in the OP, because HDMI mirroring has to be supported at the kernel level for it to be present at all. It has absolutely nothing to do with the rom.
I think this is why you're not getting any straight answers because you're asking the wrong question.

Devs don't add this to their OPs because it's not a ROM related issue. In fact it's not really an issue at all. The simple fact is that vanilla android, also known as AOSP does not support HDMI-out and with that said there's no need for any OP to state that HDMI-out isn't supported because it's known across the board with AOSP. This also includes the Google Nexus devices since they have no manufacture overlays and are pure vanilla android, which is why I suggested looking into Slimports because I heard they provided HDMI-out support for some Nexus devices but don't hold me to it as I never purchased one so I'm not sure if that logic is true. If so, they might work on othe oem devices running AOSP ROMs but again don't hold me to that. You should look into it though.

I understand kernel vs rom. But IMHO if a device does not do x (Hdmi bt etc...) that it did stock it should be said just for the fact that there Would be less confusion (noobs & new ppl to said device)
I don't even have an HDMI thingy, but i would like to use it at my one friends house
Thanks guys for clearing that up for me

It might be known across the board to devs that HDMI mirroring is not supported by AOSP, but the majority of people are ROM users who wouldn't know that. It should be stated in the OP of every AOSP ROM, otherwise their threads are gonna get filled with these types of questions. Thanks for the info though, knowing is half the battle. However, I seem to remember running a few different AOSP ROMs on my GNex that did support HDMI out, not just Slim ROMs. Someone correct me if I'm wrong here.

Lol, yeah. Actually the last ROM I was running, Sorcery 5.1, had it, and Slimbean had it for sure.

Ubuntu touch.

So I'm not sure but do we have any restrictions with aosp and drivers?, The reason why is I'd like to try and build Ubuntu touch for our LG OG.
Also I haven't tried anything like this and maybe would like some help from anyone willing to help.

They're close to getting Data working for GSM devices, so CDMA will likely be soon after. Canonical says it should be a daily driver (IE: most peripherals working) by the end of the month.

It's a completely different experience. Different OS. It's like comparing ios and windows with android.
The main advantage to this though is that it is a bit easier for devs who have android app building experience to port their apps and even develop for.
It's one step closer to getting ubuntus name out there on the level of compition windows and mac have had for so long. The biggest step so far has been steam support for it's desktop version. Windows games are flooding in. Imagine this kind of support on a mobile device. Ubuntu has said that soon the same apps could be used cross platform desktop<-->mobile.

Another advantage is that officially supported quad-core phones will have Ubuntu Desktop as an option when connecting to an external display.

[Q] CM11 nightlies useable yet? ~late May 2014

Just wondering if anyone has already been using the latest CM nightlies?
If so, are they mostly workable or should we wait for a stable release before trusting it for daily use?
back on my S3 I was on CM (including nightlies) from an early point but that phone at least had official status, where our Note 3 does not seem to yet...
Thanks!
This phone has had official nightlies for a while

If you look on their website under Devices, it is not listed yet.
Anyway, have you tried them recently?

Sorry I was mistaken and apparently not very clear.
Have you tried the recent nightlies or not? and if so, are you therefore able to offer any helpful answer to my original post question? To be specific, I am wanting to know if the recent HLTE nightlies are relatively stable yet, if all the typically-needed functions of an Android smartphone are working, and if the battery life is within generally-acceptable limits (IE somewhat near at least factory life between needing a recharge). Hopefully that clears up the confusion.
-side note, I meant there is no sub-forum for the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 yet at http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/
Seemingly there are sub-forums for Samsung's previous devices, however.

No camera quirks on latest 05/26 build, and using AllCast for my DLNA playback via TV WiFi, works great
