Where do I put the mp3s for new alarm tones?
Never mind... figured it out.
If anyone doesn't know, I made an "Alarm" folder on the root of sd card and added the mp3s. Restarted phone and waited for the alarm clock to read the sd card.

Weird problem here; when I first got my HTC One X the alarms in the stock Clock app worked perfectly. They still work now, but I can no longer create new alarms with the Alarm Sound option set to Music, nor can I change existing alarms to use new music.
I first experienced the problem at least a month ago, and wrote it off to the app data being slightly corrupted, but just a couple of days ago I applied the RUU update, wiping my app data in the process. (And I didn't restore a backup, just reinstalled a few key apps and reloaded their data manually.)
So... there are no alarms set in the Clock app except the default three unnamed, disabled alarms. I can't change these to use music, and nor can I create a new alarm with music.
The symptom is that when I tap on the Music option, the menu vanished and I'm dumped back at the Set alarm screen without a warning, and without ever being given the chance to choose the music for the alarm. The alarm sound remains set to whatever it was before I attempted to change it to Music.
Before I wiped my phone, the existing Music alarms continued to work just fine, and there's very little music on my phone at all--just a handful of regular, short MP3s I used for alarms and the ringtone. They all play fine outside the Clock app.
Anybody else who can replicate this issue, or who has any thoughts / suggestions?
I've got a number of MP3 ringtones saved in the media/ringtone folder on my SD card.
Once upon a time, I could assign one of these as a primary ringtone and that's what I'd get when someone called. For the past few months, however when I assign an MP3 in Settings/Sounds/Phone Ringtone it reverts to a stock ringtone--''Windchime" I think it's called. Not unpleasant, but not what I want to hear.
I don't have the same problem with notifications or alarms, although I use the same MP3 files for those--can anyone help me sort it?
Make a folder on your sd card and name it Ringtones and all tones you put inside your phone will recognize as ringtones from settings.
Do the same for alarms and ringtones.
Desire on't retain custom ringtone

Thanks nlooooo, but I've done that and my MP3 files reside in just such a folder on the SD card. When I set a custom ringtone, either in Sounds or by long pressing music and designating the ringtone I want, the selected ringtone will work once, maybe twice, but a couple hours later is back to the Windchime.
I have had my ringtones revert to default so many times and I never could find the reason. Till today!
I have had ringtones that I have ported from time immemorial for specific contacts on my phone. Every migration to another phone had no problem with this. Sometimes I had to change the format of the sounds (mp3 to ogg, etc.) but no real insurmountable thing. I have, with this phone, been having to reset all my assigned ringtones so many times, it's not funny. My "special" ringtones were on my external SD card, and THAT is the reason for this unacceptable behaviour. I reset some ringtones, and after the removal of the card, they're again all defaulted. to resolve this, I have now copied my ringtones to the internal card, re assigned them, and the phone is now happy, and so am I. I hope this will remove some of the pain other users have had regarding the ringtone reversals to default!
Good Luck
Aloha! :fingers-crossed:
Hi everbody,
I have a Zenfone 3 and about two weeks ago, I flashed LineageOS on it. I'm very happy with it, except of this particular annoying bug.
I have alarms every 15 min from 6am to 10am, because of my stupid work that has very various shift hours. So I activate the alarms I need depending when I start my job.
Anyway, the problem is that the musics I selected don't play when the alarm starts, some of them are replaced by the default sound. It's looks random, it can be any of the alarms, sometimes one, two, or more of them.
The good music titles still appear in the alarms list, but when I click on it, it's the default alarm sound that plays.
All the musics I use are on my SD card.
Does anyone else have this problem and/or an idea to fix that bug ?
Thanks for your help.
As the title says, it doesn't work. All I get when I try to select a sound file is it tells me that "Preview sound could not be played". I get this for ringtones and mp3s selected as "music" for the alarm. My phone calls DO ring though and mp3s play in the music player, it's just that my alarm doesn't play anything. I tried others alarm apps as well and it's the same issue...I would love to poke around the root directory to see what's going on with the ringtone files but it doesn't appear that this device is rootable yet. Any ideas on the issue or has anyone else had this problem?
