Hi there. Basically, I used Metamorph to apply some custom transitions from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=849963
So I applied the custom animation, and the phone rebooted. When the phone turned back on, I kept getting notifications for apps force closing. Unfortunately, because I keep getting notified that the apps are force closing (and apps like Launcherpro keep getting trying to restart) I can't navigate anywhere because the force close box keeps opening (but ofc the animation is very cool ). Anyway, because of this, I can't use ROM Manager to reboot into Clockworkmod Recovery to undo what I've done.
So basically, can anybody give me advice as to what to do from here ? I've tried taking the battery out of the phone and then holding volume up + power button to boot into Recovery, but when I do that, the phone vibrates 3 times and I get an amber light on the LED.
Can somebody pleaaase give me some advice as to do what to do ? Would be much appreciated.
You should shut down, rip out battery, put it back, hold volume down and power, and then select recovery.

I just flashed a mod for fixing the low auto-brightness on the GNex. Upon boot everything force closes. I did a nandroid backup before flashing, however, after a battery pull and holding down the volume down and the power button I cannot get into recovery. The screen that comes up says "Downloading.....Do not turn off target!!!". Pushing the volume up and down buttons do nothing. Pushing the power button just reboots the phone. Any ideas on how I can get into recovery?!? I'm starting to freak out.
Edit: After numerous tries I was able to get ADB to reboot into recovery. If you get stuck in ODIN, reboot the phone while connected to your PC. If you are able to get past the boot animation, do not try to unlock your home screen if you previously experienced numerous force closes. Allow the phone to get to your lock screen and then use adb to reboot bootloader. From there you can get into recovery. I'm sure this is probably a well known thing, but coming from the original DINC, I never had to use adb. This was a lot of stress and eventually a huge sigh of relief once I figured it out.
So I'm running CM 10.2 android version 4.3 and I started to notice that when I pressed the power button, it brought up the reboot menu instead putting my screen to sleep so I downloaded the newest nightly and figured it was probably just a bug and went to flash the latest nightly. Upon reboot, my phone got in an infinite bootloop so I pulled the battery, let it sit for a minute and then held the power, volume up and menu button to enter recovery. I got the blue words in corner that you will normally see when booting into recovery, then saw the S3 screen that you'll see right before entering recovery, however, my phone started rebooting again constantly vibrating etc. So then I decided to try and get into download and flash back to stock with Odin. So I entered download mode, pressed volume up on the confirm screen and then it entered download mode and then immediately rebooted and wouldn't stop. Is my phone bricked? I'm wondering if the power button is broken since when in download mode, it reboots which normally occurs when you hold the power button in download mode. Sorry for the long description but just wanted you guys to know what I've done so far and am experiencing. Any help is appreciated. I've been rooting phones from all manufacturers for years now and I'm out of ideas at this point. Thanks!
Definition of a bricked phone: A completely unresponsive device which doesn't turn on at all. Doesn't vibrate upon start up and doesn't have any signs of life.
You most likely have a jammed power button as that has been the issue with the GS3. Not a brick.
Clearly not bricked as the first reply explained. And for the love of god, please use some white space (paragraphs) next time.
If you think that a button is jammed, see if you can physically unjam it without causing damage. If you believe that the flash may be messed up, the mskip's Samsung Toolkit may be able to reflash a known good ROM even with a stuck button. And look into some of the button remapping apps like the aptly titled Fix Broken Power Button app.
Good luck.
Hey there, so my phone randomly decided to stop working today.
Whenever I put the battery in the phone or plug in the charger, the Samsung screen loads then nothing. This all happens without me pushing the power button btw. Then the power button doesn't work, nor can I access recovery.
Like I mentioned, this all happened very suddenly and unexpectedly. I haven't flashed a rom in awhile so I'm not sure what caused the problem. One tidbit worth mentioning is that my phone would randomly reboot on the rom I've been using, but it wouldn't happen too often.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Not exactly sure what I should do in this situation. Thanks for reading.

try to be quicker to access recovery, power off the phone. then press the power, vol up, and home then AS SOON as you see the blue text on the left top side of the samsung logo screen let go of the buttons, it should boot into recovery then wipe data factory reset and reboot.

flash this recovery attached with odin by booting into download mode via power vol down and home, wipe data factory reset and reboot
http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=9390212717148635222 (recovery)
http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=9390275921635705049 (odin)
place in pda with only f. reset time and auto reboot checked. it SHOULD only take about 10 seconds to flash. as soon as your phone reboots hold the recovery combo and it should go to it
I can't really access download mode either.
I'll get to the screen that asks if I want to go into download mode, then push the up on the volume rocker, get to the next screen, but then it goes black about a second later.
Thanks for all the help so far though.

kinda odd. never had that happen before. ,maybe you could try to reflash the download mode into your phone using this method
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2369125(make sure you use a debrick.img http://d-h.st/iEy for att not sprint BTW)
or use a jig. since your phone can still access the boot interface.

Have you done this and then connected the USB to see if ODIN will recognize the phone? it's entirely possible that you are getting into download mode, but just can't see it..
It's certainly worth a try.
Phone gives error reports when booted Help my HTC One m8 went ballistic after I tried to install lollipop. For reference I have a sprint (unconnected) Htc One m8 Harmon Karman edition with Ł launcher as a launcher. I went to settings and found an update. The update download and then installed. When the phone went to boot it booted then instead of taking me to the home screen, it took me to a white page with a loop of error reports of apps not working. I can't get into the phone at all. I tried to boot in recovery but that did nothing. Please help I'm desperate. The pictures show examples of the errors I get them for different apps and hitting buttons to send reportso does nothing but give another report. Please help fix this.

What does that mean exactly? Can you get into bootloader? Do you get a red triangle when you select recovery from bootloader?
Hold power and vol up for several seconds to force a reboot. The moment the screen goes dark to reboot, let go of those buttons and just hold vol down until the bootloader screen appears.
fixed

If you can't get into bootloader (but can force a reboot), its because you didn't do the button combo correctly. Either you started pressing vol down too late, or let go of it too early.
Bootloader will always work as long as the screen comes on.
I tried to update the version of TWRP I was using(v2.7.0.2) on my HTC One M8 (rooted) to v2.8.7.0 using the TWRP Manager App that I downloaded from the play store. The screen is stuck on "Entering Recovery...". I would appreciate any advice anyone can give me about how to get out of it. I tried holding down the power button it does nothing. The screen is frozen. How do I turn it off / get it to boot properly? Please help.. :crying:

Holding down the power button for what feels like an eternity got me through this when it happened last. I also had to flash TWRP again.
Alternatively, I believe holding both the power button and volume down during this stage is supposed to work. The only other way would be to either grin and bear a battery drain shut down (Not good if the device won't take a charge afterwards), or pop open the phone / remove battery.. Which I'm sure you can find a guide for both here and online. Hopefully it won't come to that, though!

Thanks a lot! Holding down both the volume buttons and the power button at the same time worked for me.
