Sprint and new Google Voice Agreement

What's so special with the new alliance between Sprint and Google Voice? I've been using Google as my voicemail forever. I guess Sprint wants to offload all their voicemail to them.

I've read that. Being able to have 2 different numbers is a feature I would hate to lose.
As much as I love Google, getting support is terrible (even with their premier package). I can't imagine what would happen if you had an issue with your number.

I think the only difference will be you can decide to have all your incoming calls go through GV without having to port your sprint number. Otherwise it just stays just the way it is

dont update.... its more problem with this update

It hasn't been confirmed that 4.24 will be more difficult to root then 4.22 ota. I have latest 4.24 and am also eagerly awaiting root method.
But in the meantime, take a peak at ny signature. There is an alternative for all those that has lost root.

I was gonna ask about this update,what does it include if anything? or is it just bug fixes?

Going from 4.22 to 4.24 was just bug fixing. It was stuff like email sync, text message sync, data, and other stuff along those lines.

I heard this breaks the Voice to text thing, which works now on my wifes phones.. running 4.22.651.2.. HW 0004
ANy thoughts if it will break it?

So it wont wipe or reset anything?

Taking official ota do not wipe your user data.

Correct, it WON'T wipe your settings and my Voice-to-Text is working fine. No issues with the 4.24 update. Actually fixed the GPS Widget not always turning off/on. If you have previously been rooted and failed/forgot to turn S-On, you can still root...Just FYI!

Just updated my wifes phone with the update.. voice to text still working..

Buddy had to take his phone into Sprint to get the update reversed because of voicemail issue, it would only send him a text saying he has a voicemail instead of using vvs so he would have to call everytime to check his mail.

What to delete

Can we get a list going of apps and bloatware that can be deleted from roms. Example field test, voice dial.

If I was on my MacBook, i would send you link, however, I'm not so i can't. Yet, just google safe app Removal for the EVO 4G and you will find several lists to help you.

[Q] MMS not working

im not able to send pics, i have all my bars, and im able to recieve pics. it wont work over wifi either. Ive done resets, and still nothing. Any help will be good, thanks in advance.

I have this same problem about 1/3 of the time when I try to mms pics on 3g/wifi and e-mailing pics on 3g/wifi

try downloading anycut from the market. once installed open it and select new shortcut...activity...find apns or apn and create a shortcut. once it says created go to your home screen and find it. it should say apns or apn. click it and you should see sprint with a circle next to it...click the circle so that it becomes selected. exit and try to send text. if it doesnt work reboot and try again. You can also edit it as well

Thanks! That worked for me but can you tell me why?

I don't know why it is. I am still learning myself. But for some reason in the kernel or Rom it doesn't activate it all of the time. I am looking forward to bubbys write up on making custom kernels in the developers section. Glad it worked for you. I don't know if there is a thank you button for me somewhere but if there is please tap it.

Didn't work for me. Thanks anyways. I think I'm just going to call sprint to get a new one.

Did an PRL and Profile update and I am back good as new. I had to do this when I first got teh phone because I could not send MMS. Afterwards, I flash roms and so on and just finally got to the flash I like and could not send.
Did the same PRL and Profile update and was able to send them again with ease.

Sprint picturemail has been down since last night

See my issue isn't that I can't receive the messages, it just says downloading and that is it. I haven't had any issues sending them at all like others. Any one else have issues not being able to receive messages?

Try opening messages hit settings and unselect auto retrieve. Now the next time you get a picture mail tap download and see if it downloads. Also try the prl update and profile update as well that was posted by someone earlier.

Block calls and messages?

I searched and didn't find an answer specific to the gs3 and jellybean. Other than using an app, is there a way to permanently block a specific number? I'm on Tmobile and currently using Domination.

Call or text? Under phone app, press and hold the number you wish to block and on pop up menu select "add to reject list" or something along those lines. For txt messages just select number as spam and voila.

I believe if you contact your carrier they can do that too. On their end I've heard Verizon can do it I don't see why tmo or others can't
