Hi all
Is anyone using any form of reminders for miscalls and messages?
I tend to miss calls and messages on my Galaxy S and I never know about it till the next time I flick the screen on
It would be great if this phone had some form of lighting like my old 5800 which would blink its button when the phone had a notification but sadly the Galaxy S does not
So yeah just wondering if anyone is using some form of reminder application
An ideal application would be one that makes a noise every 15 or 30mins
Research bln notifications and using minimalistic text with tasker... Works for me.

Missed reminder perfect foy my needs. Check it out.
Go SMS and Hand something have reminders and popups.
NoLED (my favorite app)
or BLN (less customizable options compared to NoLED , i.e you cant distinguish between calls, SMSs, emails, gtalk and other types of notifications. But has better battery life)

Try phoneweaver. It gives an audible reminder of missed calls and sms etc. After each reminder it waits double the previous reminder time before giving another audible reminder. The automatic profile switching is nice too.
http://www.sbsh.net/products/android/phoneweaver
Im also looking for some appliacation that can repeat the tone or vibrate again with in a preset time if the SMS/call is not checked.

does anyone know how to adjust settings on the Galaxy S2 so that it will vibrate after a period of time for unread text msgs, emails, missed calls and voicemail?
I cannot seem to locate how to do this?
I have tried NoLed - eats my battery power. Went to try BLC - says it won't work on my phone due to a kernal issue (no idea what this is) so I need something to give me a heads-up I have missed msgs or calls, etc.
For sms you can use a third party app like handcent or go.

If you like the stock messaging app like me and prefer to keep using it you can download "SMS Popup" for free from the android market and disable the settings you don't want but it has the reminder settings your looking for with audible and vibrate reminders periodically for unread calls, texts, etc. Not sure if it works for emails.

Hello again everyone.
I have a question about the screen staying on after a missed phone call, missed texts and emails. Is there a way to not make the screen turn on when you get a text, email, or miss a call, just the led light is good enough for me? I have it set for 10 mins to stay on but don't want it to stay on if I miss a text, email ect if I am not by the phone, my old phone right before this one had a setting that I can shut off the wake feature (Pretty sure its called the wake phone feature)..
Hopefully I am making sense here! Thanks all, you guys are very helpful on here.
It can be done, but youd have to modify one of the system apks I think.

Have you tried using the Blocking Mode which is built into these Jelly Bean roms,
the blocking mode is under "settings" and it's easy to find.
It allows you to disable notifications and phone calls within the whitelist which you
can create and can set certain times of the day for disabling the notifications.
Give it a try!
I like the active notification feature of the Moto X, so I decided to find a simple way to implement something similar. I found the app "Missed Call Reminder" by Andromax Development and enabled the Productivity locksceen of the One. A little interval and tone tweaking, and voila! It works very well. It turns on my screen so I can see my notification, vibrates and gives me an audible tone. I have it set to remind me every five minutes for four hours or until I check the notification. It only works for calls, sms and mms, but that's all I want.

Thanks, but I prefer having my HTC one look like an HTC one. I installed and checked out that app, but since I don't have amoled I thought it was overkill. This app simply enhances a built in function.
Try it out and compare. I'm only concerned with calls and sms though.

BTW my job email policy requires screen lock, so I have to start from lockscreen anyway.

1. This thread isn't about moto X active notifications.
2. It's about a totally different app (Missed Call Reminder) and a feature already present on the One which combined gives you a function "similar" to Moto X.
3 My advice: read thoroughly first then seek to advise.
I recently switched from an S4 to a Note 4, and have been missing lots of incoming SMS messages. I realize now that the S4 would beep any time a new message arrived, but the Note 4 suppresses notifications when you're inside the conversation for which a new message arrives. I can kind of see the logic for this - why would one need the phone to beep if you're already on the screen that's showing you the incoming message? In practice, though, I find that I leave the conversation screen open all the time when I'm not looking at the phone.
Most frequently, I keep the phone on a dock at my desk, hooked up to my KVM switch, so I can use my keyboard/mouse to write messages during the day. After sending a message, I switch back to my main computer/monitor and work over there until the phone beeps at me again. I rely on the SMS notifications to grab my attention, but need to explicitly exit the conversation after sending each message now if I want the beep to occur. The same thing happens when I put the phone in my pocket, holster, on the counter, etc. after sending an SMS. I'm sure I'll develop a habit after a while, but it seems foolish to me that I can't just stay in a conversation and have it beep whenever there's activity. This is the only email/IM/SMS app that I have that behaves this way.
I've tried to force the Messages app to beep at me whenever an SMS arrives, but there doesn't appear to be an option for this. Hopefully, I've just overlooked it, so:
QUESTION: Is there a way to configure the Messages app to beep whenever an SMS arrives, even if I'm already inside the conversation for the new message?
I'm using the stock ROM, no root, the default Messages app that comes on the phone, and a built-in notification sound (i.e. not something custom from the external SD card). Vanilla configuration. Thanks for your help.

In phone app go to settings - call - call alerts . There is option to alert you on notifications. Make sure you have this check.

Just to clarify, when I say "conversation", I mean that I'm reading an SMS thread inside the Messages app - not having a verbal conversation in the Phone app. Assuming that this is understood...
In the "Call alerts" page, I see several settings. Mine are configured as follows (where "+" is checked, and "-" is unchecked):
CALL VIBRATIONS
+ Vibrate when answered
+ Call-end vibration
CALL STATUS TONES
+ Call connect tone
- Minute Minder
+ Call end tone
ALERTS ON CALL
+ Notify during calls
Under the configuration above, would you expect the Messages app to beep when an SMS arrives on the thread that I'm currently reading?

Now i'm not sure. i need to see if in scenario you talking about i have notification, if i do i will explain my settings.
EDIT:
OK. I have notification. In settings in default messenger i have in notification Notification sound ( choose as you wish)
Vibrate +
Repeat message alert ( I got every 10 Min)
Pop-up display +
Lock Screen +
Status Bar +
What im reading messages i got pop-up with sound on top of message app.
But when im reading message and i get message from same person i don't have sound notification. It must be setup by software this way.
Did you find a fix? Mine does the same thing.

I'm still getting the same behavior. Missed several messages yesterday, in fact. This is the first thing I check after every OS update from AT&T, but I guess most people continue to prefer to not be notified when their text messages arrive.
If my screen is on while I'm in a conversation, you're correct, no notification will occur. But if my screen times out (locks) I will get a notification tone. I guess it just assumes you are looking at the screen if it's on and a message comes in.
Not aware of any way to change this.

I think that that's probably the intent. Maybe my habits are different than others', but I'm frequently not looking at the phone when the Messages app is up. Actually, before getting the Note 4 and training myself to switch off of Messages after reading each new text, I predominantly wasn't looking at the screen while Messages was up.
There's probably no one-size-fits-all setting here. It's just too bad that there's not an option to enable/disable audible notifications to fit individual preferences.
Did anyone ever find a way around this? You figure someone would have made an xposed module or something.
What a response.
Your response sounds like We should all be alike and conform.
Text notifications
Try '8sms' ... only text messaging app that I've found that will consistently notify me of incoming texts. Some apps will for a time but then stop doing so. This one has worked well for me.
Any config setting or app to make LED stay on when a message or voice mail is received in Hangouts??? really need a fix or I need to maybe switch to hangouts as text message default app but don't want to mix personal and business just because of a lame LED notification..
I use Google Voice a lot so I have Hangout and Hangouts dialer and Google Voice app. I use it for potential business... So since I started using the LG G4
I have not seen much action in hangouts. I checked and had 2 text messages unread. In my previous phone Note 2, if I did not hear the message sound the LED light would stay on. That way I was able to know I got a message even when I missed the sound or vibration.
Now on the LG 4G the LED light up very lightly and flashed about every 15 seconds.... I'm not going to stare at my phone for 15 second to see if I have a message or not. LOL..

I've been using "Light Manager" without any issues. You can pick the color and flash rate for individual apps. Just make sure you leave the LED options in the phone setting menu to on.
I use Lightflow. There were issues with rapid blinking instead of solid colors but setting a long interval manually has taken care of that so far.
Weird.. My hangouts cause my LEDs to flash..
I'm not using any special apps either..

I'm using Light Flow and I don't have any issue. You can even set up per contact LED there are many features you can use in light flow and you can customize any way you want.
