New to me SIII , have a question - T-Mobile, Samsung Galaxy SIII

Hello again everyone.
I have a question about the screen staying on after a missed phone call, missed texts and emails. Is there a way to not make the screen turn on when you get a text, email, or miss a call, just the led light is good enough for me? I have it set for 10 mins to stay on but don't want it to stay on if I miss a text, email ect if I am not by the phone, my old phone right before this one had a setting that I can shut off the wake feature (Pretty sure its called the wake phone feature)..
Hopefully I am making sense here! Thanks all, you guys are very helpful on here.

It can be done, but youd have to modify one of the system apks I think.

Have you tried using the Blocking Mode which is built into these Jelly Bean roms,
the blocking mode is under "settings" and it's easy to find.
It allows you to disable notifications and phone calls within the whitelist which you
can create and can set certain times of the day for disabling the notifications.
Give it a try!

Any way to do continuous alerts?

Is there any way I can set my TP2 to continuously play its alert/vib/screen light up every 5 minutes or so until I clear the notification off of there?
The way it is now I don't actually know that I have a new message or missed a call beyond the one time it alerts me unless I manually turn the screen on and check it myself. All my older phones were able to keep alerting you every few minutes or so until you finally hear/see it and clear the alert.
I have never seen this on stock windows mobile. It has always been alert once, vibrate once on my wm phones.
However, you could set it to flash the indicator indefinitely for missed calls and messages.
I have used Best reminder to get this function. It is not free or I would post it but it is well worth the little they charge for it.
Awesome suggestion! Thanks alot mate
or you can install this ..
and setup your notifcations to alert you.
These days I use PhoneAlarm however on a previous phone i used MSentinel which is free.
http://www.freewareppc.com/utilities/msentinel.shtml
try this
I use gProfile which alows you to set the tone, the interval and how many times it sounds up to indefinite. Freeware. Would post the link but I'm in the middle of Kolkata.

[SOLVED] Screen Wake Up on e-mail or SMS???

Is it possible for the screen to wake up when you receive an e-mail or an SMS instead of just the ringtone you hear or the led?
When I used to have an iPhone, there was an app called push notification and it'd pop up a small version of your e-mail or your sms on your screen even when your phone was in the screen lock mode/sleep mode.
Anyways, just wondering if there is a way for this kind of stuff.
Thanks
Try Handcent.
or ChompSMS.
yea. handcent got option to hv pop up notification juz like iphone.. and u can choose to dim brightness or not when received sms.
oh ya, btw, nxt time pls do not anyhow start any thread in developement.. do it in general if u are asking qn..
thanks guys. I will definitely ask it in general. I just thought there might be a tweak for rooted phones for these features to become available, that's why I posted it here.
Anyways, really thanks for the responses. What about for the e-mail notifications? Anything for that?
Thnx again

[Q] No text alert....

When I am in a text conversation my dinc will not sound an alert if I leave the conversation open. I only get a new alert sound if I close the coversation. Does anyone know how to change this so that I get an alert? Is this suppose to be this way? Is this a bug?
Mine is the same way, so I just got used to exiting out of the conversation. If there is a fix that would be sweet!!
Its that way because its like being in a chat with someone. Why would you need it to make a sound if your looking right at the screen in the middle of a chat? I'm sure way more people would complain if it was like that.
I think if you just turn the screen off on your phone it will make a sound even if you dont exit out.
I would not want it to make a sound if im staring right at the screen talking back and fourth with someone. The only timei would want it to make a sound is if i wasnt in conversation and needed to be alerted that someone texted me or if my screen was off. Wich is exactly how it works.
Just me
I do agree that I wouldn't want an alert every time if I was staring at the screen through the whole conversation.
even if I turn the screen off it doesn't give an alert. That would be a good solution.
But, the best thing for me would be if there was a toggle to make it alert me every time, as I usually don't stay still and text very often. I will send a text and set the phone down, or put in pocket, or holster...then continue what I was doing until I hear an alert. That is what works for me.
the issue is when I don't back out of the text app and start doing something else and I receive a text from that same person, it won't sound an alert. Screen on or off.
I'm definitely not trying to say that the app or the phone sucks. Just asking if there was a way to alleviate the issue I am describing. Or maybe there was an app, or a rom that might do what I am talking about .
******edit....just did a test. Tonight my dinc would alert me if the screen was off, and I left the conversation open. I'm pretty sure it didn't do this before. Or at least at times it wouldn't do this. Maybe it didn't alert me before because the other person actually responded before the screen turned off...or maybe I just didn't hear it...lol...either way, for my purpose it would be nice for my purposes if there was a toggle to change this.
Thanks,
Jon

I had the same issue before if I left the conversation open and the screen was off and it wouldn't alert me at all. I haven't checked this out as of recent because I got so used to just going to the home screen after I sent a text. I'll check and see if it works now.
this "problem" has every now then started very minor communication arguments with the gf. it sometimes makes me look like a damn fool.

[Q] Notification Methods For Different Apps

I use my personal phone for work emails but also for texting and such, so it behooves me to keep it loud so I can hear when are emails coming in but I regularly talk to my girlfriend throughout the day also via Hangouts and the constant dings every few minutes gets rather annoying. Is there anyway to make it so that my phone only vibrates in Hangouts (lets say only between the hours of 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM) but all other notifications are normal? Or perhaps vice versa (everything set to vibrate except for phone calls and exchange emails)?
I'm rooted and running C-ROM (AOSP) so anything goes!
Have you look into blocking mode? you can set time when it is in effect, you can choose allowed contacts etc. Also in accesssibility mode you could turn off all sounds and have camera flash blink instead. In contacts you can choose your own sounds for each person's call, message alert and vibration pattern, you could even record your own sound.
I guessed you missed the part where I'm running an AOSP ROM lol thanks for the suggestion though.
This is more for when I have my phone in my pocket, otherwise I have active display set up.

New Features Requested

Hey guys.
I just contacted Motorola to request some new features be added to the stock ROM (which in my opinion) would be crucial to increasing the functionality and battery levels of the watch.
Don't know if any Motorola Dev's/Engineers are following this site but just in case, I'd love to have these features asap.
Please add more if there is anything I have missed.
1. Have the ability to turn Vibrate OFF while still receiving notifications on the watch
Why ? Because I have my phone in my pocket constantly, and my phone vibrates when a new notification comes up. I dont need my pocket and my wrist vibrating together.
Also, Increase battery life.
2. Need to have the ability to turn off notifications for certain apps. For Example, I want the watch to vibrate when an SMS or Email comes through, but turned off for Messenger, kik, and everything else.
Also, by having this feature, Im sure a developer could write up a small app to install onto the phone which would tell the watch which notifications to vibrate for, and which to just display on the screen.
And again, this will save battery life by turning the vibrate motor off for (in my case) 90% of the notifications coming through.
3. Have a slider to control the level of vibration or the burst of vibration.
Why ? This adds a level of customization to the watch.
Also, I see people complaining that the watch doesn't vibrate enough while in my case, its vibration time is too long. By having the ability to shortening the vibrate time, you also save battery life (if not by much).
By having all 3 features embedded into the ROM, On the average user, it should increase battery life by almost double (if not more).

Pretty neat ideas. I have one id like to add lol. I want to be able to turn off motion detection for the screen. I had this feature on my galaxy gear and it gave me an day and half EXTRA battery with it turned off. We could get similar battery life (3-4 days with average use, custom rom too) if this was disabled. I had to always press the button to turn the screen on to check the time, but notifications still lit the screen up when they came in. Totally worth an extra 24-36 hours of battery . However i like the idea of being able to tap the screen to wake the moto360.
So basically I want motion detection disabled but leave tap to wake on.
Can't you turn off notifications for certain apps in the Android Wear app (mute apps)?

Im not talking about turning off notifications all together.
I was talking about turning off the vibration for certain apps, but still having the notifications pushed to the Moto360 display.
Number 2 can already be done you can go to the Android Wear App in Setting Click Block App Notification then Pick Whatever App u want to mute
Oops didn't see the last comment

I like this idea because sometimes it's hard getting the watch to light up with motion, so turning off that feature for when it does work would be fine.
In my case, I have the phone vibration turned off and rely on the watch to deliver notifications.
My one and only important feature request is the ability to create my own canned response list.
Of course, official support for 3rd party keyboards would be nice as well.
Bluetooth LE Peripheral Mode
I'm not sure if they intend to include Bluetooth LE Peripheral Mode in their Lollipop release. Google chose not to include peripheral mode for the Nexus 5 and Nexus 7, although it is included with the newer Nexus 6 and 9. But for Android Wear, Peripheral Mode would enable a huge number of new and useful apps, that would significantly improve the usefulness of the watch. The simplest one would be a beacon to help you find your watch when you forgot where you left it, but enabling service solicitation would open a whole new world of applications for the watch.
#1 has worked since day one.
I get a notification, my phone remains silent, the watch vibrates. It's in the AW app settings.
according to me, since the watch has a inbuilt mic, a feature can be added that when someone calls, answer from the watch, just speak that you'll call back later & disconnect. this will be helpful if you are driving... no need to pick the phone ...

Instead of swiping to answer the call, You can just swipe upwards to reject call with similar messages sent automatically

Good list, I have one more. Allow the setting of alarms for only certain days. For example, I would like to be able to set an alarm at 7 PM that goes off only on weekdays and not weekends, as I use this to let me know when I can get into the car pool lane when I am driving back home from work. That alarm is useless on the weekend, so no need for it to be turned on every day.

I am still wondering which watch support Bluetooth peripheral?
As I know LG G watch 5.0.1 do not support it.
if (mBluetoothAdapter.isMultipleAdvertisementSupported()) {
will return false.
on mine the whole notification thing is messed up..
sometimes it will vibrate and pop up when i get a text or email.. but then sometimes it doesnt do anything at all.
hardly ever, does it vibrate when i get a fb IM.. but it pops up and the screen lights up.
maybe they should fix it first before adding anything.

Pretty sure vibration is app dependent. Example, 8sms. You can change the vibration length in the settings. If you set your phone to 1000ms vibration when you get a text your phone AND watch will vibrate for 1000ms(or whatever vibration pattern you set) To further my point I would NEVER feel the vibration of Snapchat updates because it was so short. I'm using xposed(gravity box) to change snapchats vibration length and I feel the notification on my watch and phone every time.
I agree 100% google should have a universal setting to be able to change vibration, notification, and screen light up settings.
