[APP] Setup similar to Moto X active notification - One (M7) Themes and Apps

I like the active notification feature of the Moto X, so I decided to find a simple way to implement something similar. I found the app "Missed Call Reminder" by Andromax Development and enabled the Productivity locksceen of the One. A little interval and tone tweaking, and voila! It works very well. It turns on my screen so I can see my notification, vibrates and gives me an audible tone. I have it set to remind me every five minutes for four hours or until I check the notification. It only works for calls, sms and mms, but that's all I want.

You could also use the app dynamic notifications

I advice DynamicNotifications.

Thanks, but I prefer having my HTC one look like an HTC one. I installed and checked out that app, but since I don't have amoled I thought it was overkill. This app simply enhances a built in function.

Try it out and compare. I'm only concerned with calls and sms though.

BTW my job email policy requires screen lock, so I have to start from lockscreen anyway.

1. This thread isn't about moto X active notifications.
2. It's about a totally different app (Missed Call Reminder) and a feature already present on the One which combined gives you a function "similar" to Moto X.
3 My advice: read thoroughly first then seek to advise.

how to turn off new email notification sound?

just wondering as I cannot find any button or setting for it, nor any posts here.
I found ways to change the sound, but no way to turn off email notification only.

Are you using gmail app? When you're selecting the notification the option for silent is 2nd one down, not in alphabetical order!
my god, so simple...
thanks so much for my and my spouse's nights!
Yup I know, I missed it until today when I was answering another post (the flaws and annoyances thread) some one had posted that it was possible. I double checked and there it was right at the top!
Anyone know how to do this using the mail app? It worked fine until I flashed the oxygen rom. Now my only option is to silence all notification sounds, which is not ideal.

[Q] Disable SMS Delivery Reports Notifications?

Hi,
Just moved from the Desire to the Desire HD and there is one thing that is bugging the hell outta me. I like to have delivery reports turned on for SMS messages, and on the Desire, this was perfect. To see a delivery report, I just held on the message and tapped Delivery report. It would show, Delivered, Failed or Pending. Nice. Non-intrusive.
NOW, on the Desire HD, I've enabled Delivery Reports, BUT, I now get a notification in the Status Bar area and a notification alert, like a new message has come in.
Does anyone know, cause I can't seem to find out how, to disable the Notification of Delivery Reports? I want the reports, but not the "new message" like notification. I hope someone can help, cause in all honesty, this is a deal breaker for me with this phone!
Just moved to DHD fro Desire myself and I cant seem to be able to turn this off..any pointers please.
Thanks in advance.

This is a shame one HTC, if features like this can be taken out if it was already existing in older devices... not to talk of the low Speaker volume...Moving for me seem to be a bad decision.
I have SMS delivery reports turned on but get no notification icon.
This could be because I use SMS Popup app and have turned notifications in the HTC SMS settings (otherwise I would get double notifications).
The main purpose of SMS Popup is to show a pop-up of your SMS (funnily enough!) as you get them, but you can turn that off and just use it to customise your notifications icons and various other tasks. It's very unintrusive and in over 18 months of using it on different phones I've never had a problem with it.
Might be worth a try for you guys...

Also good for those suffering the dual HTC notification problem.
So... you have delivery reports turned on in HTC's settings right?

I'm pretty much the same. I played around with the Popup part, but don't like it.
In the "Default Notifications" settings in SMS Popup I have the following set:
Show a Popup - OFF
Enable Notifications - ON
Notify on Call - ON
Vibrate - ON (set at 0,350)
Blink LED - ON (Set at "Normal" Blink rate)
I've also turned on Reminders as I tend to miss messages
It's working perfect for me!

Brilliant! It's such a good little app. I originally tried Handcent, Chomp and a few other SMS apps but none were as lightweight, unobstrusive and reliable as SMS Popup. It's so easy to forget you even use it.
Great idea! Thanks a lot !!!!!!!!
Million times TNX for this...
Not ideally working whit sense 3 lock screen, but everything is better then that irritating sound and notification at status bar for report. Why HTC make this idiotic report after that so cool on Desire?? WHY??
Did any of you, or any of developers here on forum try to edit Mms app (Mms.apk)?
I try to find this in it, because if you turn off HTC notification then you no get sms on lock screen. I guess it's in some of these files:
com\android\mms\ui\DeliveryReportAdapter.java
com\android\mms\ui\DeliveryReportItem.java
com\android\mms\ui\DeliveryReportActivity.java
Any one have idea how to find this? I use sense 3.0 Mms.apk
Me too, no clue .. sigh
I dont want to use that popup app, I chose android because of the notification system. How come there is still no fix to this annoying issue?

Miscall & Messages Reminder

Hi all
Is anyone using any form of reminders for miscalls and messages?
I tend to miss calls and messages on my Galaxy S and I never know about it till the next time I flick the screen on
It would be great if this phone had some form of lighting like my old 5800 which would blink its button when the phone had a notification but sadly the Galaxy S does not
So yeah just wondering if anyone is using some form of reminder application
An ideal application would be one that makes a noise every 15 or 30mins
Research bln notifications and using minimalistic text with tasker... Works for me.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Missed reminder perfect foy my needs. Check it out.
Go SMS and Hand something have reminders and popups.
NoLED (my favorite app)
or BLN (less customizable options compared to NoLED , i.e you cant distinguish between calls, SMSs, emails, gtalk and other types of notifications. But has better battery life)

Try phoneweaver. It gives an audible reminder of missed calls and sms etc. After each reminder it waits double the previous reminder time before giving another audible reminder. The automatic profile switching is nice too.

Im also looking for some appliacation that can repeat the tone or vibrate again with in a preset time if the SMS/call is not checked.

three small pleasant surprises

Three features I wasn't expecting are especially nice improvements over my previous phone:
(1) A setting that blocks all calls or messages from people not on my contact list.
(2) A setting that keeps the phone on as long as it sees me looking at it.
(3) The ability to take a photo via a voice command.

However it would be even better if you can add some value to your thread you have created by elaborating on how thiese features are great , how to turn them on and off , and or make a list to help newcomers find little usefull features like thies on there new awsome phone. Think of these members who would search for a post like this one and how it could help them.

1) I could be totally wrong, as it's been about a month since I last held the original Note, but I could have sworn I distinctly remember this feature in the original Note. I remember remarking to myself how convenient it was, but I never used it because I had a third party app that did the same thing.
2) Smart Stay was a feature I was really looking forward to from the S III. I can't tell you how many times I've been reading a long article online or something else, and the screen dimmed or turned off because it had no clue I was still actively using the phone. Smart Stay has effectively eliminated this, and it has worked really well for me.
3) This feature I have only heard about ONCE, and that was while watching a YouTube video someone had done on the Note II. I was very impressed and it's another feature I have longed for. I've tried it out and it works flawlessly.
I'd also go on to add there are many more features I find convenient. Quick Glance is a convenient little gem that I've heard no one mention in the dozens of reviews I've seen about the Note II. I found it by just going through every part of my phones' settings. When your screen is off, quick glance will cut on your screen for a couple of seconds, and display a large clock with the date, email count, text count, and missed calls count. This is activated by hovering your hand, briefly, over the phones light sensor. It comes in extremely hand during the night when I want to quickly roll over, check the time, and roll back over to sleep. No more trying to find the phone ... finding the button to turn the screen on ... then turning the screen off again. Everything is hands-free. A beautiful little aurora borealis-type animation happens in the background while quick glance is active. The majority of the screen stays black so it's not bothersome.
Another favorite feature of mine is Direct Call. It essentially calls whatever contact whose information is currently being displayed on your screen from your contacts list. So instead of having to pull up, John Doe in your contact ... then select what number of his you want to dial (assuming he has multiple numbers) ... then pushing the "call" button to execute the call... all you have to do is have John Doe's contact info pulled up and put the phone to your face as if you were about to talk on a call, and Direct Call will automatically dial the first number assigned to that contact or whatever the default number is. I've found this feature GREATLY appreciated.
I'm so happy with my new toy. So many cool features that are actually beneficial.

Ok, sure. All three features can be found just by browsing through the phone's settings (or the User Manual). Blocking Mode is listed under the device's top-level Settings; the screen-stay face-detection is under the device's Settings|Display; and the camera's viewfinder screen explains the voice-command feature when that feature is enabled (which I think it was by default; it can be toggled in the camera's top-level Settings).

Hmm I wasn't aware Blocking mode could be used like this.
I'm guessing I would set it to "Disable Incoming Calls" "Always" "Allowed contacts > All contacts".
Does that sound right?

Exactly.
Unrecognized callers can still leave you voice mails. If you use Google Voice for voice mail, then you can spam-filter those; and even for messages that don't get filtered, you only have to glance at the transcriptions for a second, instead of taking time to listen to the messages, if you want to see if any are legit.

I like that feature too, except that there's a five-second delay before the screen responds to the gesture, which makes it quicker just to press the power button.
Do you get that delay as well?

Yeah, this is a great idea for a feature. But, I have some reservations. First - battery life, you can tell the prox sensor is on, and lights up red when the screen is off. Second - speed, I find it faster when the device is flat to just press the home key, all the same info is on the lock screen, and it wakes and goes back to sleep faster if anything.

Direct Dial
Actually, you can specify which number is the default dialed by this feature:
Touch and hold the phone number you want set to default. After a second or so delay, a menu appears, and "set default" is the last item in that menu.

zenwatch brief/weak vibration for notifications

Just got a Zenwatch and the vibration works, but it is a very quick single vibration for notifications such as texts or emails. Its very easy to miss. Is this normal?

I can see that being an issue if you wear your watch loosely.
I am hoping that developers will soon build some apps that will allow custom pattern and repeating notifications. I have found couple of apps that come close but need a bit of Android Wear tweaking. Definitely an app I would be willing to spend a few bucks for.
I feel it's too weak, as well. But after having mine for almost a month now, I've grown accustomed to it and don't miss nearly as many notifications as I did when I first got it. But I still miss some now & then, unfortunately. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that a software update or possibly a third party app might give the option to increase vibration strength
I think that this app with a bit of Android Wear love and maybe some customizable vibration options might be the ticket. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.intoorbit.renotify
Feel free to join me in trying to convince the developer to go for it.
I used to use the Augmented Smartwatch app with my old Sony, and it had the ability to customize the vibrations there. It also has some Wear support, so I need to investigate and see if it can also do that for Wear devices.
There are a few devs that are working on various ways to augment and repeat notifications. A perfect solution for many individual use cases are not far away.
Here are some of the apps I've been toying with. Note: some don't prominently feature Wear support but all have it in one way or another:
Vibration Notifier fairly simple and elegant. Supports virtually any app in your device. Doesn't add additional visual notifications on the phone or the watch which is nice.
Light Flow a powerful app that is designed primarily for notifications via the LED but the developer is currently working on full wear integration and should be releasing that in the next few weeks.
eNotify designed for custom notifications of email and SMS down to the level of different notifications for different contacts. Very customizable but daunting with so many options and settings.
I use Tasker to add vibrations/custom notifications for stuff I need it for. 3000,3000,3000,3000,3000,3000,3000,3000,3000,3000 as vibration pattern for example wont go by un-noticed!

Can you also make those notifications repeat every x minutes or until the notification is cleared?
The vibration seems very strong to me, I've never had an issue and if it was stronger it would be bone rattling. No offense but are you guys that are having trouble feeling it larger people?

Haha, I weigh 114lbs and have tiny wrists. But I don't think the vibrations is THAT strong. They're really short at least. Making them longer or giving them patterns makes them much more handy for my use.
I like Vibration Notifier on the market. It lets you set a vibration alert to repeatedly go off at a given interval for notifications until you clear them. It also lets you set the length of the vibration pulse.
Hi,
I have just added a "make notifications vibration stronger" in last SWApp Launcher Wear version:
