I am ceasing most of my development due to my kaiser bricking itself last night. I am going to purchase a samsung comet and do my main dev'ing on that now.
Now here is the good news, I am going to still be able to continue my barebones builds because I was donated a Mogul to dev with that through HARET. This will allow me to make it even faster than it was before because the Mogul has half the ram that our kaisers do. I am purchasing a new phone because I need a GSM phone and the Mogul is CDMA.
I thank you all for helping me out and I am glad to be of service to you all!
and another one bites the dust
i am also pretty much done with my builds for vogue and kaiser.
i am currently focused on my hero and i am getting an evo in a few weeks if everything goes as planned
Thank you both for your hard work, it does not go un-noticed.
Eventually we all move on to pastures new it is the way life goes.
Wish you all the best of luck with your future developments.
Thank you and best wishes.

With the Mogul, Vogue and Kaiser users can still use your ROM? Unsure,
But still you'll miss this great community.

Yep. The mogul is just a vogue that looks like a kaiser, has the specs of a vogue with only half the ram lol. I saw they were using HARET and felt bad for the mogul users having no froyo,no NAND installs so I decided to help out. But yes, I can dev with it no problems with haret.
How bricked is it?
Only power led is lid or smashed to the ground?
Power led only lights, If plugged in it can boot into android but I do not have access to the boot loader and I don't even see the kernel text, I just see the boot animation and it loads. Once in I do not have any radio signal what so ever.
If you remove the battery and reinsert it, then
if you press camera button and power on do you enter the SPL colored bootloader?
Ifso, you can try to flash a new radio.
if you press the green phone after battery reinsert and power on, then you enter the OEMSBL. (only green led and no booting) but then you can talk to your device with the moteq drivers thru MTTY...

Hello all. This may sound odd, but I am looking for a buggy ROM that will lock up (permanently hopefully). Why would I want to do this you ask? Well, after getting my xda Exec a week ago and going through hell with At&t about getting it hooked up. To make a long story short, Then they do all they can do and it REFUSES to connect to the 3G network in my area! I've had it...enough is enough. WiFi speeds suck, slower than molasses in the wintertime, no 3g (for me), ect ect...Thats the reasoning. Also turns out I WAY overpaid for it, but if I can "break" it, I can get a refund of the full purchase price.
Anybody got a quirky/buggy/incomplete ROM for me to brick this thing with?
Or instructions on a way for me to do it myself? I'm new to XDA devices and could use a little info.
Thanks!
(look to dump the Exec and come back with the Diamond touch! )

I can feel your point, what you can do is try to upload many ROMs one after the other then at one point your MBR will get corrupted and will stays on blank screen and will be even worse when you do upgrade disconnect the cable during the upgrade that will damage the image and ROM and make sure that you don't charge your battary enough good luck, I think I look like an evil

Thanks I'll try something like that...
What people fear most is a sudden interrupt of the upgrade process that will leave you with an unbootable device!
thats what it is to have an unbootable device!
Yeah, I say the best way is to pull the plug half-way through the upgrade. Or sell for parts as is if all fails...
Or... enter a bootloader and leave it at that... I saw many sold "broken" like that by people who had no idea what they were doing.
The XDA Exec does not have US 3G, so its not AT&T's fault it does not work in US.

Well I asked if their 3g network ran on the 2100 band and he (sales associate) said yes...
What a disappointment this device was....I LOVED the keyboard and display...everything else sucks tho...
I'll be talking to Squaretrade in a month...
So killing the power mid ROM update is the best way to brick it??? After a hard reset, the phone boots as normal, then like after looking at the "today" screen for 10 seconds, it loads/installs a WM6.1_cab and Skype automatically. This is when I should yank the battery?
No, not the battery, but the USB cable half-way through ROM upgrade. Or run MTTY and just erase the whole lot.
Hey all. I've upgraded to NFSFAN's newest rom - which is really sweet!! - but I'm having an issue with the keyboard. I can only access it in landscape mode; whenever I push the tiny button in portrait mode (which is the mode I usually use), nothing happens. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Sigh, sorry for this but same question for you as the other fella with "keypad" probs.
Do you have the HTC Vogue (CDMA version of the touch)?
this ROM may be generic (non-carrier specific) but it is meant for ONLY the Vogue.
IF you do have the Vogue, did you follow the reccomended upgrade procedure?
1. Flash the ROM from bootloader mode
2. Hard reset
3. Run your carrier GPS reg.cab UNLESS your with Bell Mobility
If not, reflash and follow the recomended procedure, it cures many "wierd" issues.
don't waste your money,

No kidding,
I'm waiting for them as well. Just want to "feel" both when their in store to decide. I carry my Vogue in my pocket and will probably continue with that.
To bad NFSFAN got the first gen TP. I know there was a "get NFSFAN a TP" fund going on in another forum. Don't know if that's why. He did mention waiting for an HTC phone with the tegra chip. I really want my next phone to be one NFSFAN has as well, tried LOTS of ROMS, play a while then go back to his!!
For 24/7 stable use there just ain't anything better.
Yeah, I guess that maybe I'll wait for the others to come out, then. I do like the Touch, but its screen is a little too small and it's not very fast....
Wow, I must say that I'm surprised to see the iPhone winning in this poll!!

It's winning only because no one is really voting. haha.
When I finally decided to upgrade my HTC Tilt to the new Tilt 2, never tought all the problems that this will bring.
The first unit was purchased on 2.14.10 at ATT local store. Two weeks later I decided to change the unit because of the many problems encounter.
It's been now two more weeks and this new phone is worst than the first one. I have to do a soft reset at least two times a day. Taskmanager is often gone from my Today screen or any other application.
I have installed a couple of software found around here, but decided to installed all of them to check if the were the problem. They were not.
Yesterday, I finally decided to do a hard reset and start from scratch without any installed software, other that the bloatware included from att.
The problems persist. The phone keeps stalling/freezing over any application. The emails are not being pulled from gmail, hotmail or yahoo (I have 6 configured emails).
What do you guys recommend for this. Doing another hard reset right now it's no easy task since I have to reconfigure all emails, lose SMS, etc.
I was very anxious to get my hands on this phone but it's been a nightmare from day one. My first Tilt was more stable by far.
Thanks for any suggestions, I just have to get this out of me.
It could be any number of things causing your problems.
I myself was very disappointed with my Rhodium when I got it. Was slow, glitchy.
After alot of reading and researching, I found it was most likely due to memory leakage. And that most devices come with a modified/branded ROM from the service provider.
I found that flashing a stock HTC/cooked ROM solved most of the issues. And using an app called 'cleanRAM' freed up alot of memory.
If you dont mind losing your warranty, then I suggest flashing a newer/better ROM. And using cleanRAM to free up any leaked memory instead of a soft reset each time
First things first, install SSK dynamic proxy CAB, Nopushinternet CAB, and AT&T tilt2 speed fix.
My first month of owning TP2 I felt very similar, having to reset every couple days. Now my phone only gets reset when I remove the battery or run out of battery (its been on for about 2 weeks now). CleanRAM is a great utility, but I suggest purchasing SSK Tools for its other great programs (autoclean, registry editor, task manager, program manager...basically this thing is great for tweaking your phone.
I would suggest reading around on the forums, looking at all the stickies, and searching for other users who have the same issues as you. This phone is a great phone, but like you have come to realize, it really needs to be tweaked for its full potential to be released.
Thanks for the suggestions!
ATT just confirm that my phone qualify for a replacement. Mine have a small square white sticker in the battery compartment. This seems to be the key of identify units with problems. I got the feeling that the next new unit is going to suffer the same problems.
I'm willing to work it out and tweak my tilt 2.
Only for a minute I consider to go for the BB bold 9700 but it's not even close.
Definately this forum was key when deciding to upgrade to my tilt 2.
Keep up the good work!

All phones have the white sticker. It is how AT&T makes sure your phone has not been water damaged. It turns pink when exposed to water. You most likely aren't experiencing an issue that is specific to your phone.
All Tilt2s are horribly slow and people here just don't want to admit it. It is using the SAME processor as your original tilt, just only clocked at 528MHz instead of 400MHz but it has to drive a much higher resolution screen. Also, either WM6.5 or HTCs implementation of it on the Tilt2 is crap. It wastes memory like no other. I haven't used other WM6.5 phones so I don't know which it is.
I really like my Tilt2's appearance and absolutely love its keyboard but I hate the hardware in it. The crappyness of the OS (either due to 6.5 itself or HTCs implementation) does not help either.
I actually just found a REALLY good deal on a Telus Motorola Milestone on eBay, just $475 after Bing Cashback! I ordered it and can't wait to get it! It has a worse keyboard but its processor is a bit better and Android has surpassed WM.

Well, after your recomendations and some extra browsing around here, I decided to hard reset my Tilt 2 again and start from scratch. I have installed all the recommend software and only have one freeze up today while updating the Stocks.
Ram usage is at 55-60% most of the times.
I have also decided not to exchange my phone again, ATT was offering a refurbished unit and mine is new.
I'll stick with for now with the Win 6.5 Rom, maybe there's an update or patch coming up.
I have develop extra patience since using my Acer Aspire One with Intel Atom processor, this thing also get really slow at times...
How for is the development for NAND for the Touch pro ? (thinking of buying one tomorrow)
Last time i checked it was no where near ready for end user. Its still being tested and better developed to make flashing easy as flashing a normal winmo rom.

I kind of agree with this statement, there are still a lot of little things to iron out...
With that said, the Vogue also still has some issues to iron out, and there's been a NAND available for that device for quite some time now.
At first I agreed that Android on the TP/Fuze was not anywhere near ready for a NAND. Battery life was a big issue, but with these newest builds I'm getting pretty good uptimes without being tied to a charger. Mind you it's not as good as WinMo, but you can't really expect that considering it's running the OS off of an SD card - which to me seems like another good reason to start building a NAND, Android would probably enjoy much better battery life if it was running natively.
So is something else holding it back? We can calibrate the screen, audio seems to be working fairly consistently... I mean GPS would be nice, but I don't think that feature alone would keep devs from building a NAND. Heck, they still don't have the camera sorted out for the Vogue (although they do have GPS and BT, BT audio doesn't work for them either!)
I'm definitely not trying to be a troll, I'm just curious as to what is preventing a NAND, because I don't think where the Android project is on this device would be so bad for the typical "end-user" we have on these forums.
However, if the issue is actually figuring out the best way to flash a NAND to the device, that's a completely different matter. I was under the impression that the project status was holding it back from being converted to a NAND.
So for what it's worth (I'm sure not much ) I feel Android is ready to be flashed onto our phones. I know I would flash it, I've been using it full-time now for a couple of weeks!

Agreed - the only things I 'expect' to work reliably before flashing to nand are calls and data. Everything after that is gravy.
And bt audio works on cupcake and donut for vogue, but not on eclair. And the vogue's camera is just crap, regardless of os.

These threads are about how USERS can put an NAND build on their phone..
Okay I'm going to tell you guys this just once.
First the developers have to get everything finished so that we don't need the few bits from WinMo we still do.
Then they can make a NAND build.
And BELIEVE me, they know how to do it. It just won't work at the current state of things.
And the XDAndroid team knows just as much about porting as the Vogue guys. The only difference is that we got more advanced phones and therefor it takes a LOT more time to make a port.
x2 right now the biggest thing is drivers. since there were never any drivers made for the touch pro/fuze for android, none exist.
since none exist, we must use winmo to initalize alot of the hardware that android uses.
once the drivers are sorted out (they are being worked on) and we don't need winmo to initalize everything for android, android can be moved to nand.
I stumbled on to this site looking at phones on ebay. Great find. I see that some of the threads indicate that some end users have been able to replace the ROM and OS on there Tilt 2 WINMO phones with Android and other fixes to make this incredibly slow freezing phone a respectable Smart Phone. I have been a WINMO user for over eight years and have never owned a bigger slower piece since my original brick phone. Have had it replaced twice and now am going to switch to the new Android offering from At&t. But if I can make this better phone I am all about it. I know I sound like a total rook but some help would be appreciated.

sure you can replace WM with Android, but remember its not a fully operational OS because its a port, so i hope you can live with no sound, bluetooth and no camera....battery could be an issue but with the latest builds its been a HUGE improvement ever since the project started, and also to have a MicroSD card in hand to make Android work, but keep in mind the speeds are not going to be like Windows Mobile since it runs off of a MicroSD, but if you really up for it and you want to speed up your Tilt 2 if youre on WM, i recommend flashing a ROM just be sure to HARDSPL before you do

Cool so Android is out on the Tilt. I noticed what you have done with your tilt 2. Even though I am Computer savy I would like to do something somewhat easy for the first time out. Thanks for the help I will check out the info you gave me and hopefully get it done right.
I keep reading posts about what a POS the Tilt 2/TP2 is and I'm baffled because mine just doesn't seem to fit that description. Mind you, it's no speed demon, but it does all I ask of it with ease. And I've yet to have it freeze up requiring a physical reset. I hard reset it once, but that was because I installed some stuff that wasn't designed for it. I've modded the heck out of mine and gotten the eye candy (of which there's a ton to choose from) where I like it. Yesterday, I impressed some friends when I quickly got some restaurant info from Bing on my phone and then did a quick Skyfire search on some rock band to settle a bet. This is not my first WinMo device, but it certainly is the best so far.
brother I wish mine was all that. I got my first htc tilt2 in Jan this year. Did alot of research and did not find a whole lot to worry about. Got the phone and was happy for about the first month was up. The internet is slow, constantly freezes, when switching to keyboard the darn thing goes three ways from sunday and locks up. I have actually seen static like on my tv. So I went to the local At&T device support center and the dough head told me its windows you will have to learn to deal with it being a hunk of junk. On my second one signal sucks still slow as hell and locks up all the time. Have had to reset (hard) numerous times. Not gona get rid of them, however gona check out some of the mods and see how it goes. The HTC is also not my first WINMO originally started with the orginal Black Jack and dont look forward to the droid conversion. But Will check it out and Hopefully mod this one out with this site.
