I love my orbit but there are certain things I want to find out if they can be tweaked/changed.
1, can you modify the registry to use a bluetooth headset for audio on media files being played back through tcpmp ?
2, is there a way to return the phone automatically to the today screen after finishing a phone call ? I hate having to manually shut the screen after a call all the time
3, is there a way to improve the camera quality, its pretty poor ?
4, I use resco file explorer and on the today screen the icon for the battery has started to dissapear at random times, any ideas ?
5,when you finish a call you have the number on the screen, is there anyway to set the scroll key to go through the call history on that screen as opposed to having to go into the call history menu ?
Already reading on the loudspeaker distortion and loudspeaker while using tom tom have been helpful.
thanks. anyone feel free to add any niggles of your own you may have.
the answer to all these is:
buy something else.
wow what a constructive post...
constructive and realistic. Thanks.
1. I thought that was the whole point of A2DP, I don't use this so no real idea. Search "btaudio" and start from there.
2. Mine does this after a few minutes anyway. Otherwise just press the red call end button again. The fastest time you can force it in the settings is 1 hour.
3. It is possible the software could get updated in the future which may make some difference, but to be honest the camera is a bit of an extra thought anyway, phones never beat real digital cameras. don't just snap on default settings though, but good lighting is essential for a half decent shot.
4. Personally I reduce the amount of today plug-ins as much as possible, I don't like them or trust them. If it's the battery monitor itself that is important to you, check out this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=270751&highlight=battery+status and here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=263951&highlight=battery+monitor
5. No
6. Don't buy another device
thanks for that, at least some people have sense, I know BTaudio lets you playback the TT voice through a standard headset, wondered if it would do the same for media as opposed to buying a a2dp headset. thanks for the response anyway
So few artemis users on this forum says something, hermes.
Just get on with the rom HTC please.
eh ?
Hi Amino, I always seem to make dumb posts.
What I Meant was, if you consider this site as a whole, then the artemis appears to be an unpopular device. People have love hate things with it. All the active artemis threads are moans. I love mine but it also really pisses me off when it lets me down, which I personally put down to the shoddy rom and why I am waiting for wm6 before I attempt to change the shipped rom. Whereas the Hermes is already running wm6 and got gps and 400mz and a very busy forum.
Yes I am right, I always make dumb posts.

But the Hermes doesn't have GPS.
The only reason that I put up with the Storage Card corruption problem on the Artemis is that it's about the only device with built in GPS that's worth considering.
You are right Philip, GPS is not working yet on hermes but, having read some of the threads they are only short of an arial. Maybe I need one of those eten things.
Trust me Uniqueboy if u want GPS that works DO NOT buy an Eten!!!
They take ages to get a gps lock even when driving with them in a cradle on a nice day, the connection also drops out quite randomly and often takes a good few minutes to reconnect. As you can imagine this is particuarly annoying when using TomTom in an unfamiliar area!!
Standard GSM phone usually starts ringing exactly at the same time caller can hear ringing tone on his side.
In case of PocketPC it's not so obvious, because OS has to wake up, show calling screen, load ringtone and start playing it. We know this well.
In case of BlueAngel WM2003 needed up to 3 rings to start ringing. After several discoveries this time was reduced to less than one half full ring - it's hard to notice any additional delay.
Now back to our beloved Hermes: I used stock WM5 from Polish T-mobile branch (Era GSM), now I'm using Black 2.5. In case of both delay is quite long: in WM5 Hermes starts ringing when caller can hear 3rd ringtone, in case of Black it's much better: ringtone appears when caller is already listening to 2nd ring. So still it takes a lot of time and many callers complain that it takes so much time for me to pick up the phone.
Notice: in all cases I use default OldPhone.mid as ringtone; when I initiate call device is sleeping and has no active applications working in background)
So question to you:
How does it take for different roms to start ringing (I used not very precise measurement unit called "ring" - for me "one ring" this is time from begining of first ringing tone up to begining of the next ringing tone on caller side; there will be problem for UK (and similar) users, as ringing tone is doubled, but I think we can cope
How can we reduce the delay (apart from not using MP3s as ringtones)?
From standby, my WM6 ROM also picks up on the second ring. However, on a hermes it generally takes one full ring to wake up the device. This is not a call dependent delay; you'll see it when you press the power button as well. I'd doubt based on this fact that you'll ever get it below one ring unless you disable powersave mode.
Yes, you are right: wake up takes much longer in case of Hermes compared to BlueAngel... Is it only hardware dependent delay?
It seems to be.... I've never uncovered where this occurs.
I thought it was just from loading all sorts of stuff on here and/or "type" of ringer -- if it's a long .mp3 it takes longer to load.
I neer did much testing, took it as a fact of life. It would be great if this is controlable.

That's why I'm asking - In case of BlueAngel improvement over time was impressive, and maybe it's possible to achieve something with our Hermes.
Today I've tested my TyTN's response time.. and it's pretty ok. Using a land-line it was always 1 up to 1.5 rings before I got full information about the caller. And with mobile-mobile calls this was always about 1 - 1.1 rings.. So it's not that bad..
What I hate the most.. is when sth hangs and then I get a phone-call or a text-msg.. this drives me crazy :/
Ive tried every possible solution from different forums and the delay still there on my HTC Athena. Didn't try it yet on the Kaiser
But I found some forum talking about changing the the Slot Cycle Index
It was on a Samsung i-760 PDA Phone, and Ive tried the procedure
but wasn't able to go further then 2nd step
If somebody who's more experienced with that can check, it will be great

My wife and I each purchased Tilt2's earlier this week. We both come from Windows Mobile 6.1 phones and are generally happy with WinMo products and comfortable with tweaking them.
We're both having some trouble with the Tilt2 and I'm hoping that someone here might be able to help.
1) Bluetooth sound quality - we each use Bluetooth headsets and have noticed lots of crackling unless the phone is turned with the back facing the headset. This didn't happen with our previous phones (same headsets) unless we got 15-20 feet away from the phone.
2) Dropped calls - I've noticed a ton of dropped calls when I'm talking on the phone and driving along my normal work commute. There are 1-2 holes along the route where my previous phone would drop, but this one drops 5-6 times. I found these radio updates in the ROM forum. Would that help?
3) General performance - The phone seems a little bit laggy and slow to react. Nothing like what we saw in demo videos on sites like wmexperts.com. My wife even reports that hers has completely locked up on her before. And I've noticed a severe lag waiting for the phone to come back after I've flipped the keyboard out. I assume that installing a custom ROM would help with this as it's helped on previous phones we've owned. However, there isn't a 100% working AT&T ROM to revert to yet (only one that appears to work is missing radio and bootsplash at this point) in case the custom ROM doesn't perform better, so I'm a little leary of doing it. Should I be worried? Or will the custom ROMs here help get rid of the lagginess.
4) Switching to landscape mode - My wife told me that her phone isn't always switching to landscape mode. She doesn't have any apps installed yet so I'm assuming it's in all of the default screens. Should everything work in landscape mode?
Thanks in advance!

Thanks. I figured that she might be using an app that doesn't work in landscape since I haven't come across it yet.
Also, regarding #2, I should have mentioned that I have 4.48.25.20 as my current radio.
1) I use Jabra 2nd gen and mine is working great. A little crackling sound but nothing major.
2) Depend on the area you live and coverage, you might want to try different radio. I have stock radio and mine is working great. Better than my fuze was actually. I can get 1 or more bar than Fuze and call quality is super clear. No drop calls yet while I had like 2-3 drop calls with my fuze.
3) I am still running on stock rom and yes indeed it's slow and sluggish. I have to reset the phone physically sometimes. I am not too happy about moving the battery cover just to reset as well. With custom rom, the phone will be snappy since some people are running custom rom with their Tilt2 already. I am in the same boat as you. Waiting for the complete stock rom dump. Until then.
4) Not all the landscape work as you have already found out.
I use a BlueAnt and my BT reception is good.
I thought mine was slow at first but as I tweaked it a bit, turning off alerts and pop ups, it SEEMS to be more of what I expected.
Haven't had a dropped call issue.
But, I am thinking that I will flash the ROM when something comes along.
Thanks for the replies.
FWIW, my wife uses a Jawbone 2 and the crackling is noticable on both ends of the call. I use a first-gen Jawbone and have nocticed the crackling as well. It seems that it works better when the phone is on the same side of my body as the headset. I did not notice this crackling on my Dash and Blackjack 2 nor her Dash.
I think the dropped calls problem is definitely area related. My wife is currently out of town and it hasn't dropped her calls at all that I know of. And when I'm at home, it's no problem. It's just that on my regular commute, it drops 5-6 times where my previous Dash and Blackjack 2 only dropped once or twice occasionally. I've only made my commute once since I got the Tilt2, so maybe there were some coincidental network issues. That said, call quality has been very good.
I just turned off the new SMS notifications. I've also removed a couple of tabs that I know I'm never going to use (stocks, AT&T, and music) at that seems to have made things a little snappier too.
HAH! Not more than 1-2 minutes after I posted my last message (from my laptop), I went to use the internet connection on my Tilt2 and it locked up. A message appeared asking if I wanted to send error details to MS and then my phone turned off.
Another thing I've noticed is that Opera takes a *really* long time to switch from landscape to portrait. And it seems to be significantly slower than Opera Mini was on my Dash and Blackjack 2. Maybe because Opera Mini is Java-based on those platforms?
My wife is now reporting that her Tilt2 won't unlock unless she slides open the keyboard. Her Exchange connection requires the phone to automatically lock and require a PIN entry. I suggested tapping the power button but that doesn't wake it up, either.
Any suggestions? I'm thinking she might have a bum unit since mine isn't having nearly the trouble hers is.
As far as the lockups, I think there was a thread somewhere about that. Mine doesn't actually lock up but it hangs horribly. Give it 5min or so and it figures itself out, usually involves opening the keyboard at the same time it is launching something, sms in my case.
Suggestion? Hard reset hers and if it continues swap it out.

Thanks for the tip. Unfortunately, she's out of town right now so I actually haven't seen the things she's complaining about first-hand (except for a couple of things that have happened on mine too).
I'll send her instructions for a hard reset and see if she's adventurous enough to try it on her own. The AT&T store near where she's at is exceptionally good - they really know Windows Mobile there and were a big help in getting the phone initially set up. So, worst case, she can go there and have them do it.

Don't run to fast with my advice, I'm a complete noob but hard reset would be the first thing I would try. It is a microsoft product after all and I'm pretty dman lazy to run to the store first.
FWIW- I have a Jawbone 2 and have cracking in the audio. Had it with my Fuze also and have always wondered if it was the headset or phone. I don't think I could keep my fuze in the holster because of the crackling.
I have some slight performance issues, but it's not to bad. Seems mostly relating to minimizing a program and starting a new one.
I have a strange problem with the TF3D photo tab. It's slow to get the image clear. I select an image and then try to scroll through them. It hangs on one, then flips it's orientation (I haven't moved the phone though). Anyone else have issues with the photo tab?

#3 I am running NRG ROM Photon date 10/17 and it is insane on my tilt 2. No radio change either. Stupid fast, eye candy, and never a dropped call or sluggish issues. Link below (5k plus thread, really read the first page to see the versions and Faq's)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=553506
I'd like to add that I'm also having some issues with sound and response time.
My phone starts fresh with about 65% of resources used up. After regular phone/contacts usage for an hour I'm at around 70% and after Opera, the phone is done. I can browse or use file explorer or music but there goes the multi-tasking.
I haven't flashed a ROM yet. I just wanted to see what AT&T did with this thing 1st.
One more thing, why did they switch the FN and Shift keys? My brain is having a hard time getting used to it, especially when the shortcuts that require the Fn key are on the bottom row.
I can't really help you out too much, but I haven't been experiencing many of these problems at all, and I'm still on the stock rom, just cleaned it up a bit. Spend some time on the forums and you'll find some good quick hacks to try before you try a new rom.

Good info about your Jawbone issues. I have an old Plantronics headset that I'm not really using anymore. Maybe I'll give that one a try to see if it's just that Jawbones don't like these new versions of HTC phones (it worked great on her Dash).
As for the photos tab, it seems to work ok. Though the first "flip" through the pictures seems to be slower than subsequent flips.
I found that hiding tabs I won't be using like the "AT&T" tab seems to help speed things up. I think I have 3 or 4 hidden.

Yeah, Touch FLO 3D sure is purty. And, now that I have the tabs sorted and hidden the way I like, it's very easy to use.
Just an update...the Energy ROM seems to have cured the dropped calls. With the stock AT&T ROM, calls dropped about 5-6 times on my regular commute. With the Energy ROM, not a single one!
Something that has happened to me now a few times...I get a call on the phone. Caller ID and picture show up fine. Screen turns off..later i turn the screen on and the phone number is not accurate any longer and the picture is gone..
Anyone had this happen to them?

Yep - happened quite often with the stock AT&T ROM. I don't recall seeing it after switching to the Energy ROM.
Hi,
So i have some serious issues with my touch pro 2 and i wanted to know if this is ''normal'' or if i should contact HTC.
I first had an Iphone 3G but i wanted a physical keyboard so i brought the touch pro 2, the first few months i just had a few issues but now it's getting really bad let me list them:
1. Random calls, this is the worst one it keeps calling the last person that calls me first i tought it was the headset because it only calls people when the headset is plugged in. Today i jammed the headset button but it keeps calling the last person that called me randomly, since 1 week it also does this without the headset connected even when the phone is just sitting on the table.
2. Keylock, i don't know if i say it right but it is when you lock your phone so you can put it in your pocket and it won't do stuff. It DOESN'T work if i lock it (i go to start press lock and than turn the screen off) it still keeps doing stuff and calling random persons. Also sometimes i can turn the volume down and up and sometimes i can't.
3. Messages, When i send a message after i pressed send 50% of the message still keeps inside the message screen (just looks like i typed a new message)
4. Media player, it doesn't work in any way, shape or form. First it work ''fine'' but now i can't get my music in it i tried multiple ways but it won't work. The worst thing is i connected it to my pc transferd some music and the freaking thing copied ALL my audio from my pc to the phone (i make movies so i have 1000's of sound effects) and those are ALL in my media player exept my music.
5. Random things to start, when i'm doing stuff in opera suddently my text inbox launches or my email for no reason.
6. The on/off/lock switch, it is waaaayyyy to responive sometimes it just turn the device on in my pocket or turns it off.
7. Digital keyboard, i can switch it to 3 different types of keyboards but it's just random if i want to switch it i just tick the button really fast and sometimes the menu will pop-up sometimes it won't. And when i selected the right keyboard it sometimes decides to switch backagain or to some other keyboard.
8. WI-FI, sometimes it will just turn on the wi-fi for no reason, when i go to settings and check if it's on it sais it isn't but it still tries to connect to a hotspot.
9. RAM memory, it's always around 80% with NO applications running when i keep this thing on for longer than 24 hours i can't play video's anymore because it doesn't has enough RAM so i have to turn it off and on again.
10. Album, for some reason it's just giving random error's while it's still working.
This are only my major problems there are alot more i've got, i really get irritated by this phone sometimes i just feel like smashing it. Especialy when it keeps calling random people non-stop for 1 minute long.
When i wanted a new phone i saw that the touch pro 2 has windows on it, now i know windows has some problems so i hoped windows mobile will just work fine but as i can see it won't.
Here is some phone info:
HTC touch pro 2
4 months old
firmware 6.5
didn't mess it up or anything everything is still original.
restored it to factory settings 3 times but it won't help with solving the problems.
Is this just common for this phone or is it just my phone? Because if it is common i will contact HTC that i want my money back because i didn't payed 700 Euro's for a phone that isn't working properly.
Never had a problem like those....
Sounds like a bad handset.
Ditto, sounds like a defective device. Time to cash in on that warranty! Nonetheless, here's a couple of comments corresponding to your issues.
1 & 2
Sounds like your device is registering phantom presses of the call start button.
3
Don't know...
4
Just use drag and drop to your microSD. Don't depend on WMP to sync.
5
Random things shouldn't happen. If it happens even after a hard reset, it's definitely defective.
6
Never heard of the standby button on the TP2 being over-sensitive.
7
To bring up the keyboard selector, you need to tap the tiny triangle on the right of the keyboard icon. Alternatively, you can long-tap on the keyboard icon.
8
Definitely weird.
9
WinMo 6.5 is a RAM hog. But nonetheless, even at 80% RAM usage, you should still have about 46MB free. That really shouldn't stop you from doing anything. Many ppl use a RAM cleaner. My personal practice is to just do a soft-reset every 2 days.
10
What errors are you seeing?
First I want to say thanks to all the xdandroid developers, this has made my HTC Touch Diamond fun to use for the first time.
I've been using xdandroid for 4 days and wanted to post the issues I'm having so far in case others have run into them and know of any fixes:
1. Probably 3 out of 4 calls I receive, the other person can hear me but I can't hear them. I've tried toggling speaker phone and mute to no avail. My routine now is to pick up the phone, say "hello?", hang up, then call back whoever called me. Not cool! This is a big issue obviously, since it's a fundamental of the phone, not a "nice to have".
2. Related to issue #1, when I call people back sometimes I can't hear anything (not even the phone ringing.) It seems to happen most often after issue #1 (receiving a call but not being able to hear them.)
3. No ringtones, only one called "Silent", so the only way I know that I have a call is the vibrate. I don't have any files on the internal storage except for the andboot so non-ansi characters in file and folder names isn't the issue. I can't reformat the drive using the hp format tool because my phone's drives don't show up in the dropdown of possible options to reformat, even though I can see and browse their drives in My Computer. Is this tool incompatible with Windows 7 x64 maybe??
4. The touch screen calibration is off. I've tried deleting the ts_calibration file probably 10 times and reran the calibration test. I've tried pressing softly and hard, both with my finger and with the stylus. Within windows mobile the touch screen is fine but within android it's off where it clicks compared to where I press. Oddly enough it works fine if I use my stylus, however it's impossible to use the keyboard with my finger.
5. The Gen.Y dual boot app only works every other time I reboot my phone. Half the time it will load up the Gen Y load screen and boot into android. The other half of the time it will just load up windows mobile without ever loading the Gen Y app.
6. Battery life, no shocker here and a known issue. My phone will be fully charged then I unplug it and it'll say immediately that I have less than 10% remaining. Other times it'll last unplugged for 4-5 hours (which is still bad but is good for xdandroid it seems.)
Any tips on resolving any of these issues would be greatly appreciated, the funny thing is that even with such fundamental issues as these, I still enjoy xdandroid more than windows mobile!!
This would be a much more relevant place to post your questions:
Touch Pro, Fuze Android Development
It's OK I figured out how to fix all of the issues above. I bought a Evo 4G and stopped using xdandroid...
